Premium channela change

Hi - I am a new poster so hope I am posting in the right area.
I am going to have a problem with the change over to the new premium channel service. I live in an old house which has three different wiring circuits. My router is upstairs at the master socket and connects by powertrend connectors to the hub in the hallway (same electrical circuit) All my computers connect wirelessly. My tv and BT box are in the lounge (different circuit) My box currently connects to the aerial and on the few occasions I want to use on demand or movies I connect the box to the hub temporarily by a 10m ethernet cable. I am very happy with this setup.
My understanding of the new system is that my hub and box will have  to be permanently connected by cable or I will not be able to watch BBC ITV SKY sports etc. Running cable around skirtings is not an option (3 doorways to cross and probably at least 20-30m of cable) The other option is to lift the floorboards in my hall and lounge to run an underfloor cable but understandably I am not keen to do that. I think SKY use a wireless box in this situation. Is there any similar option with BT?
I have to say that with all the current technology available nailing bits of cabling to a skirting hardly suggests a high tech solution.

Or plug an Ethernet plug into the Comtrend power adapter from your laptop and run a speed test

  • How to Remove Premium Channels Like HBO or Cinemax

I wanted to document this because nobody should have to go through the hoops I just had to.  Sadly, I'm sure others have gone through much more.  Follow these steps to remove channels you no longer want to pay for, or avoid paying for because their free trial is about to expire:
log in here - https://www22.verizon.com/ForyourHome/Registration/Reg/OrLogin.aspx (Note: This login page could be different then what you're used to signing in to.  I have no clue why there are different systems that you can log into.)
make sure the tab that says TV is selected in the middle of the screen towards the top
select the add/change channels hyperlink towards the middle of the page
uncheck whatever channel or bundle you no longer what to have
select the Next button at the bottom of the page
review the Order and select Next
at this point I can't remember the rest of the steps, but they should be very self-explanatory
Also, if you're trying to get actual help via chat, go to the home page for Verizon FiOS and act like you're going to order new service.  As you click around you'll find a link to chat to a rep.  Click there and they can help you out just like any other customer service rep.  I would just give the link if I could find it again.  For being an internet provider, Verizon FiOS' site is TERRIBLE.

I have been going around in circles for like 30 minutes trying to figure out how to remove HBO. I tried what you said, but I don't see any link that says add/change channels. Everything I click on keeps taking me back to a page to "compare tv plans". I am about to go insane...when I tried to chat, I typed in my message and when I hit send, it said Chat no longer available, sorry!
The post you are replying to is over 3 years old. It is very likely Verizon has changed the structure of the pages and moved stuff, they do that all the time.
I don't know where you need to go since I do not have any premium channels that I could try to remove, but I would start at MyVerizon and click on the Shop button.

  • Premium Channel Suggestions...

I love my Verizon Fios.. I had the other.. I'm pleased with Fios.. however I cannot stand it's Premium Channel Selections..
Verizon's Premium Channel selections are horrible. I pay for all of the premium channels.. and there is not ONE movie I want to watch.. ok so HBO added avatar.. I've watched it.. now what.. nothing.. their HBO list is short, they show the same movies on Stars, Showtime, Epix, Encore all of their premium channels over and over and over and over, for years..... I mean years.. these movies like "Castaway" have been on premium channels for freaking years.....  not to mention that they add to their "list of movies"  Avatar.. behind the scenes as a movie choice.. really???? who cares whats behind the scenes.. ADD MORE MOVIES and change them more often.. I pay for it!!!!! .. I'm getting very annoyed at paying top dollar for NOTHING and in this economy saving my money helps.. So.. do I drop all premium channels and download movies on my WII through netflix for 9 bucks a month.. this is sooo tempting.
I also think there are classic timeless movies from the 50's 60's 70's that should be aired on a premium "Classic's only Channel"  Movies like Summer of 42, Love Story, or old Elvis/Jerry Lewis Movies.  I pay for Premium channels.. and NEVER watch anything.. the movies I do see that I want to watch COST ME MONEY... my verizon Bill is already over 200 dollars a month.. why do I have to pay more.. it's ridiculous.. really..
    Please.... ....

Jumpin68 is correct.  Verizon has NOTHING to do with content.  Just as Verizon is not the one who alter the movies.  Content and elimination of picture information are done totally by HBO, Max, and Starz. (Showtime, HDNet Movies, and MGM-HD are the ONLY HD channels showing films as they were intended to be seen...uncut and unaltered.  Any complaints about movie selection should be directed to the specific channels

Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't the actual channel provider decide what movies are available.  Verizon is only rebroadcasting what they are receiving.  Am i missing something here, not sure why Verizon is at fault for lack of movies you would enjoy.

I just bought the Vizio 42" screen with internet apps, and have been using netflicks as my movie provider ever since. You can't beat the price, or selection for $8 a month. And it's a flawless transition...if you have a wire-less router in your home, you simply enter the wep-key, and then the netflicks app, and easy peasy lemon squeezy!
Really...Netflix's on-line selection is far from exceptional.  Hard to find ANYTHING worth seeing...because most studios don't want to license films to them.  It's OK if you want some small indie flick, or a foreign film, or a cropped movie, or a box-office bomb..  Also, they do not offer full HD (only 720p compared to 1080i via OnDemand), and no 5.1 audio on the majority of devices. And the streaming itself can be iffy at times, depending on one's Internet speed.  I use it...just because it's there and part of the disc subscription.  But I'd HATE for that to be my sole movie provider.
That said, it is true that content depends on the provider and not Verizon.  People should complain to HBO, MAX, and STARZ about content (as well as their policy of altering movies to eliminate picture information.).

  • Free Premium channels?

I have noticed that pretty much all of the premium channels are active for me along with their on-demand. I did some searching on the internet cause i was worried i was going to be charged for these subscriptions that I didn't sign up for and i found the free previews till April 2nd (for HBO specifically) http://forums.verizon.com/t5/Verizon-at-Home/FiOS-Free-Previews-Movies-amp-More/ba-p/424701 Now it is April 3rd and It still shows free on demand for HBO still... I hope that you didn't expect an opt-out of every premium channel given during the free preview. Can someone please clarify, did the free preview get extended (specifically, for HBO) or am I going to have to call in and fight to not pay a subscription fee that I never subscribed to? I have just changed to Fios and our contract says that we get showtime for 2 years, it doesn't mention HBO or anything else. Thanks!

  • Free Premium Channels for 3 Months

On Saturday 11/13/2010 I was contacted by telephone that the 10 premium channels package was being added to my FIOS package for free for 3 Months.
As of today 11/17/2010 no channels have been added.
If for some reason I am not illegible for this package, why would Verizon call me and verify a lot of information.
There was three or four calls made before we actually made contact.
With the competition with Comcast and Satellite, this is not good Customer Service behavior

  • Is there an internet only option that gives you more than 1 or 2 premium channels?

My wife watches TV and we have premium channels including HBO, Starz, Showtime, Cinemax, Encore and a couple of others. I watch the premium channels on my computer. Is there a way to get these channels with only internet service or do I have to subscribe to the TV package as well?  I see packages that have 1 or two premium channels with Internet but not as many as I have now.

Hi Xenon808, I will send you a private message to assist further.
    Thank you

  • Problems with premium channels added

I've been having nothing but problems trying to add channels to my package.  I went online yesterday & saw they were doing the 50% off for 12 months promo for their different movie packages and I went ahead and added the Showtime/Starz for $8.50/month.  It never came on last night.  I called and was told that my local center is probably closed & that it would work in the morning.  This morning it still didn't work so I called the # given to me last night (1-888-978-2176) which got me nowhere.  I was told my acct# is invalid and that I'm not even eligible for Fios in my area (which I've had for a year & a half.) After getting my address wrong several times, I was told I'd need to be called back (which I still haven't been.)
I then called 1-800-VERIZON and was told he didn't see anything about me adding these channels.  I asked if he could go ahead and add them for me then and he said he could but it would be $9.99.  I stated how it was $8.50 online and he said maybe it was an online promo and that he couldn't give it to me.  I was then told that I could have Showtime OR Starz but not both.  I told him that when you go to upgrade online Showtime/Starz for $8.49/month was clearly an option to which he really didn't seem to care and said that's not available in my area and I'd pretty much have to get each one seperately.
Sorry, part of this is to vent due to my frustration but another part is to see if this sounds right since I feel like I get a different story/response everytime I call customer service.  I really wanted Showtime/Starz but I told him if this was the case to just sign me up for Showtime.  Also if this is actually the case, that package should be removed from the options on the website.  I also should've been notified that my online order had been cancelled.

I have the opposite problem - premium channels keep getting added without my permission or intention.  I have a 4-yr-old son and I think he is playing with the remote while I'm at work.  Apparently the FIOS STB will let you subscribe to any premium channels just by clicking a few buttons.  So far I have had HBO and the Playboy channel and some Chinese channel (nobody speaks Chinese here) and something else.
I switched over from Comcast to Verizon's double-play last month, and now I'm really starting to regret it.  It has been nothing but a headache, from adapters that don't work to this.

  • Channel Changing effect question.

Question for the professionals:  How can I create a “channel change” with distortion, etc. effect on Final Cut Pro?  I need it for a sketch so with each segue, or scene, it looks like the “viewer” changed the channel.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Matt

  • December channel changes (WGN moving, JUCE TV being removed, GSN HD added)

    Check your dvr/stb menu messages.
On or after Dec. 8th WGN (SD) is being relocated to ch. 68 and being removed from the very basic tv packages.
On or after Dec. 31st Juce TV (religious) is being removed from the lineup.
Also, there is no message about it, but GSN HD (ch. 684) is now being added to markets and is available to those who have the tiers that it is included in.

Chicago's WGN Channel 9 moved from 9 to 68.  Seems like kind of a dumb move.  Except for this forum, how would people discover this?????????
Periodically check the message center in the stb/dvr menu. They sent a message out about it. Also even if you don't receive paper bills look at the pdf version online as channel changes are usually posted there in advance.
Only other way is to notice it while scroling through the guide.

  • Searching OnDemand for Premium Channels I subscribe to.

    Hello,
I just switched from DirecTv to Fios. So far so good, minus one issue, when I search for movies through the search function, the only results I get are the movies available for rent or buy. This is VERY frustrating, especially coming from DirecTv who made it so easy to search.
I am subscribed to every premium movie channel, HBO Showtime, Ect.
Has anyone figured this one out? Or is there possibly a fix in the works? Or is this just how it is with Fios?
    Thanks!

I just searched a movie on HBO (to which I subscribe) and the movie showed up in the search results in both the live area and the on-demand area.  I'm not sure why you're not getting the result I am, but the search results do include premium channel on-deman results for me.

  • Cable Card issue: Can't view premium channels

I recently switched from Comcast to FIOS, and have been very happy with the new services so far.  One thing that has been driving me crazy however, is that I can't get my cablecard to view any of the premium channels I subscribe to.
It looks like there's an issue with activation, but everytime I call the FIOS tech support they say that it looks good on their end.  However if I look at the status of my cable card it says:
    Authentication:  Success
    Authorization:  Needed
If I look at the log for my device when I try  to tune a premium channel, it shows:
    20121224-17:16:58 CableCARD: Tuner0: vchannel 850 (225MHz-734) access = not-subscribed
I'm using a HD Prime Homerun network tuner, however I also have a STB in the house, and it tunes those channels perfectly.
The FIOS tech support guys/gals I've talked with, don't seem to be too up to speed on cable cards, and even tried to forward my call to TIVO support (the TIVO support person was just as confused as I was, since I told them that it wasn't a TIVO that I was using).
    Any ideas?
Edit:  Also wanted to add, that one FIOS support tech suggested that the card was defective, so I did swap out for a new card, but the new card is acting exactly like the old one.

Hubrisnxs - Thanks for the message. . . I've definitely been giving those numbers out everytime I call in, but maybe I just need to keep trying until I get someone who can push the magic buttons.  I know these cable cards are somewhat finicky, but it's definitely frustrating to spend hours on the phone without getting things working.

  • Premiere Pro Timeline with 3 video channels and 4 audio channels, audio channels change to 8 channels when clip dragged onto timeline.

Premiere Pro Timeline with 3 video channels and 4 audio channels, when clip dragged onto timeline audio channels change to 8 channels. Audio track mixer changes too. I edit undo to remove dragged clip and it reverts back to 4 channels of audio on timeline as does the audio mixer?  Any ideas as to why the audio channels and mixer changes?

you can check the clip you are dragging to the timeline, if it has 8 tracks... can check by right clicking it in the project bin, choose modify, audio channels.

  • Hp s2031 monitor will not receive premium channels from cable tv, due to hdcp. what to do?

I am moving to a building with only cable tv reception. I plan on ditching an old, huge (not flat screen) tv and will use my hp s2031 monitor with a tv tuner that will receive from a cable connection.  I will gladly pay for premium channels like hbo, starz, etc., but my hp s2031 monitor has HDCP, which apparently will block premium channels.  Am I incorrect?  Surely hp has a fix for people who are willing to pay for content. I cannot afford a new monitor, and I do not want to lug my current giant to the new location. The screen on my laptop is much smaller.
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

You are incorrect. HDCP (high definition content protect) prevents HD content from being sent over analog signaling. Since your HP s2031 monitor has both VGA (analog) and DVI-D (digital) inputs, you will need to use the DVI-D input to watch HD content. Your cable box will most likely have a HDMI output. To use this with your monitor will require a HDMI-to-DVI cable.

  • Channels change by themself

We have a standard Definition DVR box and the channels change by themselves while we are watching a taped show.
No one else is holding a remote in the house.
Has anyone had this problem happen.
I was told it may be a problem with light reflecting from the window.

I've had a similar problem. I would press the up/down channel button once and it would fast forward on it's own. Try turning the box away from the window and try it. The other thing with me was my sirius radio remote was doing the same thing, which is near my DVR box. My problem was that my remote for my dvd player that was sitting in a caddy facing the DVR and my sirius radio, was causing the problem. I removed the DVD remote from the room and problem solved.
