Preordered new ipad(3rd gen). Will it arrive march 16 or ship march 16?

Just looking for clarification. I preordered yesterday after the announcement. Will I get the new ipad on March 16th at my door or is that just the date it will leave somewhere for delivery to be received several days later?

Has Apple given you a tracking number and carrier?  Whenever I have ordered items they sent that and most of those carriers post where the package is, or where it has been received and logged out.  When it finally says, out for delivery, you know it is only a matter of hours to go

  • Is it safe to use the new ipad (3rd gen) while on charge

I have the New Ipad (3rd Gen) 32gb wifi onlymodel,, and I use it while on charge i notice that it took way longer to charge while i use... will in not damage the devoce nor the batter if i use it while on charge?

The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.
How to Calibrate Your Mac, iPhone, or iPad Battery
    http://www.macblend.com/how-to-calibrate-your-mac-iphone-or-ipad-battery/
At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. In rare instances when using the Camera Connection Kit, you may notice that iPad does not charge after using the Camera Connection Kit. Disconnecting and reconnecting the iPad from the charger will resolve this issue.

Do you clean your iPad screen?  Do not use standard window cleaners, with ammonia or alcohol, like Windex, but a damp towel, followed by a micro-fibre cloth is recommended.  There are also cleaners you can buy which are specifically designed for iPad/iPhone devices, such as iClean from Monster.

  • IPad 3rd gen will not update apps

App Store on iPad 3rd gen shows several apps needing updating.  Updating requests P/W for Apple ID and then states that it cannot connect to the iTunes Store.  I am connected to the store.  I can also download new apps.  Any idea on how to fix the problem.  Thanks!

We owned all the apps and used them on an iphone 4s.  They were added to the new iPad.  About 8 apps showed updates, and the "can't connect" warning showed.  The same Apple ID applies to all the apps on both devices.

  • Will iPad 2 silicone cases fit new iPad (3rd gen)?

I have preordered the new iPad and would like to have a case ready for it when it arrives next week.  I was looking on eBay and they have soft silicone cases for iPad 2 and I was wondering if they would fit the new iPad.  They have some stretch so I don't think it would be a problem, but I would like to hear some opinions.  Thanks.

I'm a case ho. I try them all. We're talking a 0.6 mm difference in depth. I just looked at a ruler to see how small 0.6 mm really is. Not much.
I'm sure some cases will fit without a hitch. Any case with really tight tolerances will probably have problems. Only time will tell. When My iPad 3 arrives, I've got several cases from the iPad 2 to try out.

  • Syncing an old iPod Touch (1st Gen) and new iPad (3rd Gen)

I have an old iPod Touch (1st Generation) which runs iOS 3.1.3, the latest possible for the device. It is synced to my Windows desktop PC. However a lot of apps are not fully updated because the newer versions are no longer iOS 3 compatible.
I am getting an iPad (3rd Generation) on launch day next week and will obviously need to sync it to my PC with fully updated apps, however, I also want to keep using my iPod Touch will all its apps too.
Is it possible to have two sets of apps on iTunes on one PC, one for the old iPod Touch with its older apps and one with the new apps for the new iPad.
I update all the apps on the iPod Touch itself so I never update an app that is no longer compatible with iOS 3.0
The solution I've come up with at the moment is to copy the iTunes folder on to my laptop and use that for one of the devices and use the desktop for the other. But would like to use just one PC if possible.
    Can anyone advise?
    Thanks

It turns out that I took all the apps off my touch, but I have an iPhone 3 that hasn't been updated in at least six months.  There's got to be something on there that's incompatible with the current iOS architecture, but it's syncing as I type this with no problems.
You've got your iTunes copied to your laptop - why not use the original copy for a little snooping?  I think you'll find that everything works just fine.
BTW, there are several apps in the iTunes library on my desktop that are duplicated.  I never could figure out why, but my guess is that some of them are versions that will run on one handheld and not the other.
    Hope that helps.
    Mike

  • Has apple named the the new ipad(3rd gen ipad) ipad with retina display

Has apple named the 3 rd gen ipad ipad with retina display.

The iPad 3rd generation has a retina display, but it was sold for only a few months.  The iPad 4th generation also has a retina display and some of Apple pages refer to it as iPad with retian display. However, most of us in these forums refer to the various iPads as iPad 1, iPad 2, iPad 3 or iPad 4.

  • My new iPad (3rd generation) will not remember wi-fi passwords. It is set up to ask to join networks. It remembers my password at home but forgets all others if it disconnects for more than a few minutes. Frustrating!

My new iPad will not remember passwords.

    Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
Change the channel on your wireless router. Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

  • IPad 3rd Gen will not play sounds, but speaker does work

    iPad 3rd Generation (A1416), ios 8.1.3
My iPad just recently stopped outputting sounds through the speaker, but the speaker does work.   Notifications, alerts, music, videos, apps; nothing outputs sounds through the speakers.   Sound DOES work through headphones and airplay devices.   When researching other forum posts, my issue differs in a few ways.
    1.  The speaker DOES work. When I go into Settings > General > Sounds and move the slider bar at the top for Ringers and Alerts level it outputs sounds through the speaker.
    2.  When swiping up from the bottom of the screen to display the control center, there are NO controls shown for the volume of the speaker, which there should be.
I have gone through all the possible types of resets including a master reset and backup from iTunes and I am still having the same issue.  At this point there are no more reset options or configuration changes that I am aware of to resolve.
    Help Please!

    Hi, urbsom.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
I understand you are experiencing an issue with muted or no sound on various applications.  I also understand that the issue persists after processing some troubleshooting steps.  There are just a couple more that I could recommend in the article below.

  • New iPad (3rd gen) keyboard doesn't slide back in

My new iPad keyboard (i.e. the default virtual keyboard of iOS) when it comes up (slides up) it doesn't slide back in when the typing mode is no longer needed.
E.g. when I swipe all the way to the left and reach the search screen, the keyboard pops up, and when I swipe back to the home screen the keyboard stays up until I press the 'hide keyboard' button.
Appreciate if anyone knows how to solve this and could share his/her solution.

  • New iPad (3rd Gen) crashes ALL THE TIME

So I have been using my new iPad this weekend, and it crashes all the time - the specific programs.  I cannot access simple things like in iBooks and other programs without a crash.  I dont know what to do other than to return it.  I sold my iPad 2 and now wish I didnt.
Is this somehow just my iPad or is this an issue with other people??

I got myself two new iPads, one for me and one for my son (replacing our iPad(s) 2) and I installed tons of apps and other content to both iPads, no issues whatsoever.
Have you used an old backup to install your stuff on your new iPad? If yes, please do a full recovery and install everything again, not from the backup.
If this doesn't work, your iPad must be defective.
The only complaint I have is the slow charging.

  • HT204023 Why doesn't my new ipad (3rd gen) wifi+4g with virgin have personal hotspot?

Hi there, I have a new iPad Wifi +4G that I recently purchased whilst I was overseas in America from an Apple Store. I have a data plan back here in Australia which is a $99 micro sim for 10GB of data for a year which is with Virgin (running on the Optus network).
I have with no success found the personal hotspot setting anywhere, whether it be in settings main menu or settings, general, network. I have tried with the network on and off and have not found it.
I rang Virgin, who somewhat explained that they weren't doing personal hotspot yet, or at all (kinda hard to understand their tech support)...
I hope this isn't a Telstra only feature, as apart from their coverage wouldn't go with them anyway.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Harrison.

This solves my question, however annoys the **** out of me. Watching the apple keynote for the new iPad they said customers would have personal hotspot built in. It seems that apple has screwed around with their phrasing again, not mentioning it would in fact be carrier based.
    Thanks for the help!
    Kind regards, Harrison
IMHO your reasoning makes no sense. The iPad has what is required for "personal hotspot" built in. It only makes sense that you would need a plan that supports this built in functionality in order to use it.
When you buy a car advertised to get 40mpg do you get **** because the car dealer never told you that in order to get 40mpg you have to buy gasoline? The car's 40mpg capability is built in but you still need to buy gas to use that functionality.

Is anyone else seeing trails on the iPad transition zooms? I am guessing that it is a probelm with the display chip on my ipad.

  • IPad (3rd Gen) charging

For starters, love my new iPad 3rd gen (I guess that's what we're calling it now?), received yeserday. Retina display is noticably different, camera even looks bigger, and I can feel the extra thickness, though not a problem. Also love the dictation. Smart Cover works great. Here's the issue: iPad is not taking a charge, at all.
    Details:
    Charging icon does appear
Used the 10W power adapter that was included
Display was off, smart cover was attached
Went to bed with iPad at 9%, woke up and said 9%
    What I've tried:
    Different outlets
    Different USB cables
    Different 10W power adapters
With and without the extention cord for the power adapter
I'm pretty sure it's an iPad issue, and am booking a Genius Bar appointment today. I'm thinking the only solution is a replacement. If anyone has a suggestion before I'm off, or would like to let us know if you're having the same problem, all comments are welcome
Now on a happier note, love the new iOS 5.1!
The camera shortcut is convenient. I don't really speak Japanese, but sometimes set Siri to that just for fun on my 4S. I like seeing the 4G icon, even though it's nothing new. Best yet, the battery on my iPhone 3GS is a huge improvement! Would maybe last 2 days in standby, now it's been 2 days and 60% battery remains!!
