  • Preparing Automatic Repair Windows 8 Boot Camp endless loop

I recently restarted my Macbook pro with windows 8 installed on boot camp to install updates for windows 8.
The first two times it restarted, I got the windows loading screen (4 blue squares) then when it finished loading I was sent to a black screen.
Next, I tried restarting in safe mode to run repair and by spamming F8 + FN I was still unable to get to safe mode and instead got a "preparing automatic repair" message below the windows blue squares loading screen. It stays like that and does not do anything else. I am letting it sit right now.
How do I fix this? I installed via a .iso and have no windows 8 disc.

Unfortunately did not have a backup, I didn't lose much that I care about but it will be a hassle reinstalling all of my programs.
I've researched this error and the common response is to insert a windows install disc and go through the repair system. I was hoping someone could walk me through how to do this on boot camp, since I can't seem to figure it out - I have no boot disc.

  • Lenovo G505s windows 8, preparing automatic repair then black screen

    Hi,
Since a few months I have a lenovo G595s with Windows 8 installed, the thing is I don't know much over computers, but last tuesday I was just working and my laptop was next to me without any task, and somehow when I was going to reuse the computer I wasn't able because the screen where all the apps are was frozen, so I tried with CTR ALT DELETE nothing happened, then I just turn it off, and since it only goes on with the Lenovo logo, in the under part says or appears Preparing automatic repair and like 1 min later it goes completely in black without turning off.
I tried el the F keys at the beggining of the start, in the middle, with a windows CD as well, but I just don't get access to the BIOS or any other configuration, only black screen, doesn't matter how long I leave it on.
If somebody could help me to find out what is happening with the computer.
    Thank you a lot

    hi Dlskmalpik,
    Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.
Automatic Repair usually kicks in if there's a problem loading up the files that's required to start Windows. If the repair was interrupted and the screen just goes into a black screen then there's most likely a hardware component that's malfunctioning.
    To check, try to:
1.Boot into the BIOS by pressing the OneKey Recovery button
      - Link to picture
If successful, set the following settings in the BIOS:
    Security Tab:
    Secure Boot = Disabled
    Boot Tab:
    UEFI = Disabled or Legacy
    Boot Mode = Legacy
    Boot Priority = Legacy First
    Exit Tab
OS Optimized Defaults = Other OS or Disabled
When done, press F10 (or Fn+10) to save and exit and try to boot from your Windows CD (i'm assumming this is a Windows 8 disc).
    2. If you're successful in booting from the Windows 8 Disc, see Step 1 to Step 2 of this guide on how to proceed in fixing the issue.
    3. If the problem remains, consider re-instaling Windows by pressing the OneKey Recovery button and choose System Recovery
      - Link to picture
In an event that the recovery fails, I recommend you contact lenovo and report the issue as you may need to send the unit for service..
    Regards

  • Hp Envy stuck in preparing automatic repair screen won't boot up

My Hp Envy TS m6 Sleekbook is stuck on the preparing automatic repair page..I've tried restoring it using the f11 key but then it goes to another black page with the Hp logo on it and it says please wait and again remains stuck..I've already backed up all my information so I don't mind restoring it back to factory settings but it just won't let me do much of anything!! Please help!!

    @Kmarcast18 ,
Hello and welcome to the HP support forums.  From what you are stating you system sounds like it is stuck in a repair loop and just cant proceed.
You mentioned tapping F11 to get into the menu and on most system that will work.
Here is a link for the service manual.  The reset for this system is listed on page 80.
One thing you can try as well is to remove the battery.  The process is on page 32.
With the battery out and the power cord removed.  Hold the power button down for 30 seconds.
Put the power cord back in and boot up holding the F11 key again to see if you can get into the restore options.  If this works great.  Shut the system down again and install the battery.
At this point if that fails you will want to contact phone support for repair options.

  • Shows "Preparing Automatic Repair" then shuts down immediately

I was using my laptop awhile ago and then it suddenly shuts down, I thought it was just the battery that is empty so I tried to plug it in and turn it back on.
And now its only showing "Preparing Automatic Repair" and turns off automatically before I can even press any function keys.
I tried to reboot it by removing the battery and the plug then holding down the power button not less than 15 seconds, but still the same. Still wouldn't turn on.
Please help. I badly need my laptop.
    Thanks in advance.

  • HP Pavillion TS Laptop stuck in "preparing automatic repair" loop.

My HP laptop has run perfectly up until now.
When I turn the device on, it tells me that it's "preparing automatic repair" and it stays there, I've waited for hours on end but it doesn't seem to really be doing anything. All the f# keys work perfectly except f11, the one I need to use to attempt to restore the OS to a date when it actually worked. While it'd be neat if all my data could be recovered, it's not required. Thanks for helping.

  • HP Pavilion g6 "preparing automatic repair"

I have an HP pavilion g6, windows 8 laptop. My laptop suddenly froze so I turned it off and turned it back on hoping it would work but instead when I turned it on the "HP" logo comes up and loads for a few minutes and then goes to a bright blue screen for less than a second with words, but cannot read since the screen goes away quickly. After the bright blue screen it shows "Preparing automatic recovery" for a few seconds and goes straight to a blank screen and stays there. Can someone tell what is wrong with my laptop?

    Hello @rryuen,
    Welcome to the HP Forums.
I see that your notebook froze up and now it's its going to black screens after a message about doing a recovery. I will try to assist you with this issue.
I couldn't say for sure what cause the freeze up, but it appears that whatever has may have been a fairly critical error with what is happening now. The computer's attempting to do a self recovery, however this is being hindered by whatever is causing the black screen.
The black screen could be hardware related, I would recommend (if you can get the notebook to do it) to start by testing the hardware: Testing for Hardware Failures (Windows 8). If this passes and you were able to test, see if you can enter Safe Mode.
From safe mode (if you could get in) you can back up your files and try doing a system refresh.
Let me know what you were able to do and the results.
Thank you for posting on the HP Forums.

  • Lenovo G780 stuck in Automatic Repair Loop after Windows 8 update

My recent Windows 8 update stuck my computer into an infinite automatic repair loop which results in a blue screen amd the process repeats itself. I tried the OneKey restore feature and the system recovery feature just hangs then it goes back to the same loop issue with rebooting. I called Lenovo for recovery discs since I don't have any any but my concern is does it matter if I mentioned whether I had a 32 or 64 bit OS? I told her to make sure it was for a Windows 8 system amd she just said it works for the G780 models. I'm just hoping these discs work.for a 64 bit system

It should work. Support cannot send you recovery disks if you didn't provide them your serial number. They can check the correct pre-installed OS from your serial number so I'm sure they're sending out the correct disks.

  • Hp 2000 preparing automatic repair loop

I recently purchased the notebook and do not have a windows 8 disk and cannot do anything from the InsydeH20 setup utility version F.37.  How can i get it to boot up?

I see that you are stuck in an automatic repair loop. From all my research it appears that you do need either an installation disc or a recovery disc. If you can get into into safe mode then you can try this Microsoft Answers link but with it being Windows 8 you need to get to the OS to trigger safe mode

  • Computer on constant Automatic Repair and Diagnosing loop after Bios Update

I have an HP AiO 23 G010 computer that has decided to stop working after a Bios Update yesterday. It goes on a constant "Preparing Automatic Repair" and "Diagnosing Problem" loop followed by a blue screen that says "Your PC has run into a problem and we are gathering information..." with a face.
I have hit the esc button, f2, and everyother key that I can hit. It only allows me to go to the system screen where I am able to do tests, and checkout firmware management, etc. I tried to roll back the bios update but it would not allow me.
What can I do to fix this?
    Thank you

Restore BIOS defaults and if you get into Windows, select a Restore Point prior to when you have problems.
If no go, you may have to perform a factory restore.

  • TS3297 I have installed, reinstalled, repaired, retarted and followed all trouble-shooting tasks; Now I am getting "Apple Supprt Application not found: error 2(Windows 5). Please uninstall and reinstall itunes.  I have done that. It is listed in my progra

I am trying to install itunes on my computer (Windows Vista).  After initial instillation I got an error  42404 A required itunes componenet is not installed; please repair or re-intall itunes and error 50, cannot access itunes store at this time.  Please try later. I have done that multiple times; uninstalled all components, reinstalled all components, repaired all components, restarted my computer.  I have changed firewall settings to allow acess to all of the apple components.  I have made sure the required ports are open.  All of the components are showing on the installed programs section of my control panel.
I am now getting an error message that says that Apple Support Application is not found error 2 (windows 5).  It is listed in the installed programs and I have repaired it.
I am out of options.  And help would be appreciated.

'The installer has insufficient privileges to modify this file C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support\Web kit.resources\inspector\Images\Spinner Inactive Selected.gif.'
That one's consistent with disk/file damage. The first thing I'd try with that is running a disk check (chkdsk) over your C drive.
XP instructions in the following document: How to perform disk error checking in Windows XP
Vista instructions in the following document: Check your hard disk for errors
Windows 7 instructions in the following document: How to use CHKDSK (Check Disk)
Select both Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors, or use chkdsk /r (depending on which way you decide to go about doing this). You'll almost certainly have to schedule the chkdsk to run on startup. The scan should take quite a while ... if it quits after a few minutes or seconds, something's interfering with the scan.
Does the chkdsk find/repair any damage? If so, can you get an install to go through properly afterwards?

  • Yoga 2 Pro Windows 8.1 stuck in automatic repair loop

So my Yoga 2 Pro is stuck in the (in)famous Windows 8 Automatic Repair Loop, and I'm not sue how to fix it now. I unfortunately neglected to create a Recovery USB stick, so what are my options without it?
I've already tried booting the computer with the Novo button and choosing System Recovery, but at that point the system goes right back into the Automatic Repair loop. I'd strongly prefer to back up my data before resintalling Windows if that's an option--is it possible to stick the SSD into another computer to do so?
Also, would a USB recovery disc created by someone else with a Y2P be useable on my system? I don't need the full partition image since the one already on mine should suffice. I'm also unsure of my system's Windows 8 Product Key, where can I get that if/when I do need to reinstall Windows?
Thanks for any help, it's greatly appreciated.

    First and foremost, good luck:
    Method 1:
Wait for the machine to boot into the 'Automatic repair couldn't repair your PC' error message.
    Click the 'Advanced Options' button
    Open cmd and type:
    bootrec /fixMBR
    bootrec /Fixboot
    bootrec /rebuildBCD
    and also
    chkdsk /r c:
    chkdsk /r d:
    Method 2:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iNKEsOF7e4M
Method 3 (copied from a youtube comment):
    1. Turn on the computer.
    2.  Wait for the machine to boot into the 'Automatic repair couldn't repair your PC' error message.
    3.  Click the 'Advanced Options' button
    4.  Click the 'Troubleshoot' button
    5.  Click the 'Advanced options' button
    6.  Click the 'Startup Settings' button
    7.  Wait for the system to reboot into the 'Startup Settings' menu (is the same menu for safe mode)
    8.  Select the 'Disable early launch anti-malware protection' option. (Press '8')
    9.  If this worked for you, you should now boot into windows.
    10. Now you can shutdown your system and it should hopefully work first time the next time you start the system.
