Preparing for 3.3(4) to 4.2 Upgrade - Any issues?
We are preparing to upgrade ACS from 3.3(4) to 4.2 and are wondering if there are any gotchas we should look out for? We've upgraded in the lab and things look ok, but we are limitted to what we can test aganst in the lab. We have 300+ different device types/code rev combinations (mostly Cisco TACACS+, a few Radius) and are wondering if there are any known issues where a certain rev of code (IOS, CatOS) works with 3.3(4) but not 4.2.

Using iPhoto for a specific PP task - will it cause any issues?
Since I've started shooting in RAW, I haven't really used iPhoto that much.
My current process is to import using Bridge, open images in Adobe Camera Raw to edit and crop, and then open in PS Elements 6 to do final editing.
However I don't like the crop feature in ACR... And I'm thinking of using iPhoto for cropping.
Here is how I envision the process -
1. Import via bridge
2. Open and edit in ACR but do not crop
3. Open and edit in PSE6 and save as PSD
4. Run batch process in PSE6 to convert PSDs to JPGs
5. Import JPGs into iPhoto and crop
6. Export JPGs as current settings.
The only issue that I think I will have is that iPhoto will convert the images to 72dpi and so I will need to add one more batch step to convert from 72dpi to 240 or 300 dpi.
Are there any issues with this process change?
Will the extra steps degrade the JPGs in any way?

I’m not sure you’ll need this step as iPhoto will work with almost all PSDs. A little trial and error will confirm.
5. Import JPGs into iPhoto and crop
6. Export JPGs as current settings.
Assuming you imported as PSD then you can export as ‘Kind: JPEG’ and specify the exported dimensions, thereby avoiding your final batch conversion to 300 dpi. (Although this conversion is pretty pointless until you actually go to print a file.)
A general comment:
It’s a lot of effort to get a crop. Can’t you crop in Elements? Or - if not in Elements - there are lots of little editors out there with no database element that will crop. Even Preview will do this.

Using internally created certificate for IP-HTTPS lisenter temporarily during testing. Any issues?
We are planning our Direct Access environment now and plan to also use SSTP VPN on the same box.
I understand that the best practice is to use a certificate published by a public CA for the outward facing IP-HTTPS listener and we plan to do this however during testing we would like to use a certificate created from our internal CA. If our testing phase
is successful and we plan to go ahead we would then buy a public CA certificate and replace the internally created one.
I would just like to know how much of an issue/hassle it would be to do this. I believe that during the DA setup wizard it automatically inserts the certificates you provide. Is it a problem to change it afterward? Do you have uninstall DA and run through the
wizard again? Thanks.Or you can use a Public 30-day trial SSL that is supported on all Clients.
The hassle of changing it, will be the same as when you are renewing a public SSL certificate in the future. And yes, you have to re-run the wizard again, after you have imported the new SSL certificate on the DA server. -
I'm thinking of buying an ipad (1) wifi for my mom who lives in Kenya. I understand the charger is universal and will work with an adapter. Any other issues I need to know about? Will the ipad work ok?
She is 68 years old and has vision problems. My thought is that it would be eaiser for her to see than a ipod touch. She would use it for music, maybe reading, some games. I'm not sure she would be adept enough to download many apps, so we'd prbably load it up for her.

For vision problems she can enable zoom. Tap Settings / General / Accessibility. -

Turn off - TimeMachine usually works - re-try.
(the Application down in the Dock - not the Device)
But this can mean many thing's - My first thought is
• Free Space on Start-Up hard disk. How much ? (other disks do not count)

I want to know what to expect in terms of moving from one OS to another. Having been a Windows guy until last summer, my only experience is going from one version of Windows to another, which is usually a fairly costly purchase. I will want to go to Lion, but as a retired teacher, my income is fixed. I am not looking for a specific price, I am sure that is unknown, but I would just like to know help Apple does these things so I won't be sadly surprised.
Historically Apple has sold OS X upgrades via DVD media however with the advent of the Mac Apple Store that throws another possibility into the mix. That's about as much as I can say as these forums don't allow us to speculate about future products. As for the cost historically Apple has priced OS X upgrades between $29-$129, the last upgrade (Snow Leopard) was only $29 but that was an exception. Again we cannot speculate on these forums about that. The good news is that Apple is unlike Microsoft which makes OS upgrades expensive and complicated. The choice with OS X is do you want a server version (most users don't need one) or a single computer license. The users that buy server versions tend to have a number of Macs they manage from a server, most consumers don't have this issue.
Keep reading the news, as you know Apple has announced a Summer release for Lion.
Upgrades on OS X are usually very simple. I've upgraded from Tiger to Leopard to Snow Leopard and each transition has been very easy. With any major OS upgrade there are some basic rules to follow, for example always, always, always backup prior to any update. When Lion is released to the general public post again for what to do to prepare or even do a Google search on "How to prepare for OS X upgrade" and you will find a number of articles that will provide some suggestions and valuable insight. You can also re-post here and users will be happy to assist. -
When sharing my 60 minutes iMovie project with iDVD inmediately message 'The project could not be prepared for publishing because an error occurred (Error in user parameter list)' appears. Could not find the user parameter list, so I've no more info about this error.
Option File - Finalize Project gives inmediately the same errormessage.
Also option Share - Media Browser - Large/Medium/Mobile give the same errormessage.

I have just loaded iLife 09 on my MAC. I've edited a movie and now want to export it, put it in iTunes, whatever I can do to move it beyond my laptop. No matter what option I choose under Share I get the same error message, "The project could not be prepared for publishing because an error occurred. (-2009)". I can find the error message online, but not the (-2009) error code. I'm also a longtime PC person who has just switched to a MAC. Can anyone help?
I also am having the exact same problem. iMovie '09. I have tried changing permissions on all sharing folders, exporting to desktop, sharing to iTunes in all size files - and yet still get "Unable to prepare project for publishing. error (-2009).

to restart the MS Exchange Replication Service – BUT the mentioned eventID
8229 isn´t present on any of the both Mailboxservers.
The affected Database is active on Location2-Exc1-Mb1 Server and in an overall healthy state. I found during my research, that below Location2-Exc1-Mb1 Server, there are not removed shadow copies present!
This confuses me, since all Backups are normally taken from the passive copy of a Database.
So my questions to the board are:
* Does anyone is facing similar issues?
* Can someone explain why snapshots are present on the Mailboxserver hosting the Active Database, whilst the errors are logged on the passive one?
- * Does someone know the conditions, why shadows copies remain and
aren´t removed in a proper manner?
What can cause the circumstance, that only 1 DB is facing such issues?
Any suggestion is welcome!

I´ve encreases VSS / Exchange Backup Log levels to expert, before starting
those things i´ve all tried now:
- Backup from passive DB (forced within Symantec Backup Exec)
- Backup from active DB (forced within Symantec Backup Exec)
- Backup from passive DB without GRT enabled (forced within Symantec Backup Exec)
- Backup from active DB without GRT enabled(forced within Symantec Backup Exec)
All those attempts failed.
But brought some more details - the backup against the active DB states, that there is still a backup in progress and therefore this backup is cancelled by VSS.
The Solution was, that i´ve needed to restart the Exchange Replication Service on the Mailbox Server hosting the passive DB.
Backups are working again on all DBs!

Then you will be able to drag-n-drop songs up and down the list. -
Time machine no longer backs up. It prepares for back up OK but then fails to complete. The archive is still available. Any ideas? Thanks
Unfortunately, not much to go on here. There are any of twenty different reasons why backups are not occurring, and no shortcuts that I know of to find out why.

Computer: MAcbook Pro 2.3GHz Intel Core I5, memory : 4 GB (when I start exporting the available memory is about 2Gb, no other app runing)
Softwer: Mac OS X 10.7.2, iMovie '11 9.0.4 (1635)
Project: 50min, filmed with Gopro 960HD

LórántMost recently there's been a series of errors -49 being posted to the Discussion Group. I've seen one other -108 error that showed up but without any resolution. The original poster hasn't replied yet to that mesage thread. I don't know if the two are related, but they both have a negative effect on exporting. So I'm going to suggest following the fix for the -49 errors:
This requires using the Terminal app, in your Applications/Utilities folder
To turn off Time Machine snapshots type in the following command:
sudo tmutil disablelocal
The Mac will likely ask for your password, so type it in and hit the return key. The type the word, exit and hit return. Quit Terminal.
Open iMovie and try doing another export and see if the same error message pops up. -

I called Apple under my Mac support contract. They were completely unfamiliar with the error you and I were encountering. Updating to 10.8.5 didn't help.
I'm stopping my TimeCapsule while I perform these tasks, but I don't know yet if I have a consistent work-around.
