Preparing for iOS 6: Maps bookmarks and YouTube favorites

I am excited about the upcoming iOS 6, however, I have some reservations about my backup data:
Now that Maps is getting a complete overhaul, I'm wondering if my bookmarks will be lost. Does anyone know if the bookmarks will still be there? Can anyone who's installed iOS 6 beta tell me if they lost or retained their maps bookmarks?
Also, I understand the built in youtube app will be removed, to be replaced by a 3rd party download from the app store. I have kept many favorites in my youtube app, however I have never signed in to youtube from my iphone. I don't imagine there's a way to transfer them from the old app to the new one before updating (that would just be too easy) is it perhaps possible to sign in to youtube and backup favorites stored in-app to a youtube account? If not, any other suggestions as to how to backup / export / transfer youtube favorites?

I wish I had know this before painstakingly transfering each favorite manually! Well it's done now, so all my favorites are in my new google/youtube account so hopefully that means I'll never have to worry about it again. Also, I noticed that after updating to iOS 6 my Safari bookmarks had a new folder called "YouTube - Aleks iPhone" (the name of my iPhone) that contained all of my youtube favorites. Is it safe to assume this was a clever solution built in by Apple. That would've also been nice to know about ahead of time.
Just in case anyone else is curious, I can confirm that the Maps app retains all bookmarks, as well as recents. However, anyone in Chicagoland, be warned: I just tested the new turn-by-turn directions today, and on 90/94 west where it splits into the Kennedy and the Edens... when I approached it told me to take the exit for the Kennedy, even though I knew I needed the Edens. I checked the overview of the directions, and it had the correct route and said the right way to turn, it just decided to call the Edens the Kennedy for some odd reason, until of course I was already past the split and it said continue onto the Edens. I don't know if that's on Apple or TomTom, but clearly there's some kinks to work out. Overall, however, it's a huge improvement over the old Maps.

In the iPhone backup. Right click on the phone in iTunes and choose "Restore from Backup".

Red/Orange/Green indicators for ios 6 maps?

I just updated to ios 6. Every morning I check my maps app to see how the traffic looks for a couple of routes I can take to work. This morning, with ios 6, there was no information. It seems it only shows when its red. This is completely frusting because I know that both these routes can have slow "orange" patches every morning. Will they be adding red/orange/green indicators to ios 6 maps?!

Background Behavior for iOS - the Suspend event and executeInBackground

It looks like suspend is not being defined in airglobal.swc. It just says (line 836 of flash.events.Event.as):

Also, when attempting to compile in, ah, Flash CS<NDA> with "AIR 3.3.0.3230 for iOS" as the target, adding <executeInBackground>true</executeInBackground> to the app xml's <iPhone> node results in an alert:
Unexpected or unknown element or attribute in the application descriptor file.
application.iPhone.executeInBackground is an unexpected element/attribute
Is there any way to test these things with this beta?

It happens to me as well. I did try to put this variable in flash coding, but I need try {} catch to be able to test in flash builder otherwise it crash with no error appear.

However, when I test my application in iPhone4 iOS 5.01, I got nothing when the app is in background (I tested by firing post variable via url loader to server with enterframe event 40-50 frame once, and by add location update event listener to Geo object also).
I think the problem is <executeInBackground>true</executeInBackground> which is added to <iPhone> tag in app.xml can't be compile by flash builder.
note: I've also changed application description to air 3.3

Preparing for Mountain Lion - what folders and files should be saved?

Hi gang,
Although some of you make think this is obvious, it really is not. In preparation for Mountain Lion, I curious what folders and files (other than the obvious) should I move off to another drive? I'm going to do a clean install this time around. I'll probably do an upgrade first to understand any gotcha's when I upgrade my wife's MBP later, then do a clean install.
I'm going to move the documents, my Aperture and iPhoto libraries, but I'm unsure about the iTunes folder and my movies and such. Most of my software has come from the App Store, so I don't need to worry aobut those, and the few other programs I have the software for (iWork, iLife, but we'll probably need new versions of those.
I just preparing a list to make sure that I get everthing.

When doing a clean install OS upgrade I like to swap out the time machine drive, storing/retiring the old time machine as a backup of the old system while keeping it's Time Machine history.
So personally what I do is:
#1 clone my boot drive to an external (at this point I have two backups Time Machine + a clone)
#2 wipe the boot drive and install new OS on it (at this point I still have two copies of my data TM + clone)
#3 verifiy the old time machine is accessible from the new boot drive (sometimes due to ownership/permissions/filevault this is a problem so check even if migrating from clone)
#4 selectively migrate files from clone or TM to new install
#5 Start a new time machine of the new OS drive (sometimes I'll wipe the clone at this point and use it, prefering to keep the old TM as a archived backup)
One note, I've burned myself at least once forgetting that I'd excluded some parts of my old drive from Time Machine drive (usually Podcasts, Movies), so pay attention to that before relying on it.

Apps for iOS 3.1.2 and below!!!

Hi, I have the 1st generation ipod touch with the latest installed version of iOS as 3.1.2. What i wanted to know is, is there anyway to find the apps in Itunes, that will support iOS 3.1.2. All the apps that i find in iTunes currently seems to be supporting the latest version of iOS and the latest iPhones and iPods.
Even as basic apps as Facebook does not seem to be available for iOS 3.1.2. Any pointers on how to get such apps compatible for iOS 3.1.2 would be really appreciated.

Close iTunes, re-boot your computer, then make sure all Anti-Virus software & Firewalls are turned off. Then force the phone into recovery mode, as described here, & restore it:

I can't compile for iOS anymore with Flex and AIR 3.8

I always had some problems to compile and publish iOS application (with Air 3.5 before), but with AIR 3.8, that was a miracle, I could compile my projects without any errors on Windows ... until today.
I'm executing this command in DOS to compile my project:

I am done with the instructed led training from Oracle University for Oracle SCM Apps(ESSENTIALS, INV, PUR, OM).
I would like to take the basic certifications like 1Z0-204 (ESSENTIALS), 1Z0-225 (INV and PUR) and 1Z0-226 (INV and OM) for further growth opportunities. Since i am totally new to SCM field, i would like to know if the materials(Student Guides) given by Oracle University would be sufficient for my preparation or should i have some implementation exp before i take up these exams.
Please note i am not asking for dumps, just want to know if the materials given by ORACLE UNIVERSITY are enough for my preparations. Are questions based out of those slides or do they come from implementation exp as well. Seniors who have recently taken up these exams, please guide me.
I already have 4 yrs exp in I.T. . would be shifting to Oracle SCM Apps in the near future.

Krishnakumar NI never attempted those exams but I can speak of my experience with 11i/R12 Sysadmin, Apps DBA, and 9i/10g/11g OCP certification that most questions are from the student guides. However, having experience with implementation might make it easier for you.

Are you using the same ipa file on different version of devices or did you update the device from 4.2.1 to 4.3.2 and then downgraded back to 4.2.1 to test it out? Also, wondering if you used the same certificate and provisioning file when published ipa file.
If possible, would you be able to send me the xml descriptor file as well as .fla/.as files? I can try them on my hand.

So i went to do the software update for ios 7.1.1 and after i verified it my phone shut off and went on this weird screen. it shows the charger a up arrow and the itunes symbol. i just want to know how to get my phone back to normal

my phone is doing the same thing. I plugged it into my computer but now it wants me to restore my phone. I havent been saving my pictures to icloud and i havent backed my phone up in a couple weeks and am currently on vacation. im worried that it will delete all my unsaved pictures. or if there is even a way to get them back. so now i am just sitting here with my phone all weird and i have no way of backing out to back up my pics :-/

Why not have a section in app store for iOS 4.3 and earlier?

I LOVE "remote" app and airport.
Since i have had to restore all my ipods for various reasons, i am now no longer able to download the remote app since apple only supports iOS 5 or later. They have instantly rendered my whole apple setup useless. They are basically telling me that my purchase of their hardware was a mistake and that they only care about people who purchase new things. Which is a great reason not to purchase new things from them.
What i don't understand is why they simply can't put a version of remote (or any app) in the app store for iOS 4.2.1. and earlier? And allow developpers to support their apps for earlier iOS. So little effort to leave 4.2.1 apps in the store. They could even create a special section based on iOS.
Now they are forcing me to consider alternative solutions, of which there are many. I simply would never have bothered to do this before since i was so satisfied with apple products. This is a failure from a business and marketing perspective.

Backing up your current apps helps prevent this loss in the future. Earlier iOS apps are becoming increasingly difficult to find. You may want to look at VintApps, new in the Apple app store, that makes this much easier.

Although there are thousands of available apps to choose from, they will definitively not be the latest greatest.
