I'm about embark on the task of upgrading from iPhoto 08 to 09, is there anything I should do before doing it?

I have a problem that i hope you can help me. My Imac is from 2007 therefore i have iphoto 06, i did the installation of the whole ilife 09 suite, and what was my surprise that, when i reboot, there was no upgrade at all on any application... i still had the old version of iphoto, garage band, iweb. The only program added succesfully was Imovie 09; do you know what may be the problem, ?

If it's on a separate drive, then it would have nothing to do with installing a new OS on another drive.

Preparing for upgrade and Unicode conversion while on 4.6c

We're currently on 4.6c and preparing to upgrade to ERP 2005 and do a Unicode conversion. I'm trying to compile a list of coding techniques that can used in 4.6c that will minimize changes needed for Unicode. Does anyone have such a list?
Some things I've discovered reading about Unicode include:
1) Use GUI_UPLOAD and GUI_DOWNLOAD rather than WS_UPLOAD and WS_DOWNLOAD.
2) Structures or table headers that contain non-character data need to be identical when moving, comparing, selecting into, updating from, etc. This includes not moving structures/tables with non-character data to a character field or vice-versa.
3) Offsets can't cross non-character data.
4) Assign statement with offset must specify a length.
5) Open dataset must specify "FOR INPUT", "FOR OUTPUT", "FOR APPENDING", or "FOR UPDATE". It no longer defaults to FOR INPUT when omitted.
6) Many implicit conversions from char to numeric are no longer allowed. Use explicit conversion instead; such as the move statement.
I know there are others. Any help would be appreciated.

SystemDuring Prepare for the Upgrade

Hi there,
During the Input for PREPARE for upgrade I get the error message:
SEREVE ERROR: unable to determine DB and SAP version.
in the Log file DBINFO.LOG I found this:

The system is a copy from the production system. The problem is that the Old SAPSID still in the target system.
Anyone know how I clean this?

BW Upgrade - Starting Prepare for the First Time

Hi,
I'm starting the prepare for the first time and I received this message "You must be BD2ADM to run this command." I login as BD2OFR.
I'm trying to upgrade our BW 3.1C with kernel 640 to NetWeaver 2004 SR1.
Do you have any solution for this problem I cannot continue with the prepare.

I ran into the same error ... (but it was very late night and therefore I don't know if I did something wrong and I forgot to talk to SAP on this)
But:
- For the 7.00 Upgrade you NEED sidofr and not sidadm!
- I used the following workaround - run with sidofr -:
SAPUP UPGDIR('/usr/sap/put') PARMLIST('check')
(instead of prepare - which is the same - with this trick the first error message was "skipped")

P.S.: Sorry SAP collegues, that I didn't mention this issue, but I'm always (when it is not midnight) using the SAPup-prepare above and therefore rarely see this problem.

Preparing for 3.3(4) to 4.2 Upgrade - Any issues?

We are preparing to upgrade ACS from 3.3(4) to 4.2 and are wondering if there are any gotchas we should look out for? We've upgraded in the lab and things look ok, but we are limitted to what we can test aganst in the lab. We have 300+ different device types/code rev combinations (mostly Cisco TACACS+, a few Radius) and are wondering if there are any known issues where a certain rev of code (IOS, CatOS) works with 3.3(4) but not 4.2.

I have a 27 in. iMac with the latest version of Snow Leopard. When Lion comes out, will it be software I purchase and download online? I am trying to prepare for cost and don't have a point of reference, having been a Windows guy until last summer.

I want to know what to expect in terms of moving from one OS to another. Having been a Windows guy until last summer, my only experience is going from one version of Windows to another, which is usually a fairly costly purchase. I will want to go to Lion, but as a retired teacher, my income is fixed. I am not looking for a specific price, I am sure that is unknown, but I would just like to know help Apple does these things so I won't be sadly surprised.

Historically Apple has sold OS X upgrades via DVD media however with the advent of the Mac Apple Store that throws another possibility into the mix. That's about as much as I can say as these forums don't allow us to speculate about future products. As for the cost historically Apple has priced OS X upgrades between $29-$129, the last upgrade (Snow Leopard) was only $29 but that was an exception. Again we cannot speculate on these forums about that. The good news is that Apple is unlike Microsoft which makes OS upgrades expensive and complicated. The choice with OS X is do you want a server version (most users don't need one) or a single computer license. The users that buy server versions tend to have a number of Macs they manage from a server, most consumers don't have this issue.

Upgrades on OS X are usually very simple. I've upgraded from Tiger to Leopard to Snow Leopard and each transition has been very easy. SAP expects at least 2 to 3 months for Upgrade and that again depends on project scope and complexity and various other factors.
STEPS IN TECHNICAL UPGRADE
     Basis Team will do the prepare activities. (UNIX, BASIS, DBA).
     Developer need to run the Transaction SPDD which provides the details of SAP Standard Dictionary objects that have been modified by the client. Users need to take a decision to keep the changes or revert back to the SAP Standard Structure. More often decision is to keep the change. This is mandatory activity in upgrade and avoids data loses in new system.
     After completing SPDD transaction, we need to run SPAU Transaction to get the list of Standard SAP programs that have been modified. This activity can be done in phases even after the upgrade. Generally this will be done in same go so that your testing results are consistent and have more confident in upgrade.
     Run SPUMG Transaction for Unicode Conversion in non-Unicode system. SPUM4 in 4.6c.
     Then we need to move Z/Y Objects. Need to do Extended programming check, SQL trace, Unit testing, Integration testing, Final testing, Regression Testing, Acceptance Testing etc.,

PREPARE for Java complains of wrong OS though it is correct for ABAP

I am in the process of upgrading our CRM 5.0 Unicode (Dual Stack -
ABAPJAVA) systems to CRM 2007 Unicode (Dual Stack - ABAPJAVA) system
on a LINUX X84_64 Operating System env.
I am having issues when I start the JPREPARE from the SAP CRM 2007
Upgrade Master DVD on Linux_X86_64 (51033255_19) for the first time as
mentioned in the CRM 2007 Java Upgrade guide. It complains of SAPCAR
file missing and it says OS Linux not supported by this CD.
This is the command I am using - JPREPARE <upgrade directory> from
the Upgrade Master mount point
This is the exact error message I get:- ERROR: Missing
file /sapcd/CRM60_Upg/51033255_19/LINUX_X86_64/SAPCAR. Operating system
Linux not supported by this CD.
where /sapcd/CRM60_Upg/51033255_19/ is the mount point for the SAP CRM
2007 Upgrade Master DVD on Linux_X86_64 (51033255_19)
The upgrade directory is created correctly with
755 permissions and owned by <sid>adm
All it does is it creates a empty exe directory in the upgrade
directory and throws the above mentioned error.
Where as I was able to launch the PREPARE for ABAP succesfully from the
same CRM 2007 Upgrade Master DVD on Linux_X86_64 (51033255_19)
I am in the middle of the PREPARE phase for ABAP and it wanted me to
start the JAVA Prepare phase. I am surprised by this as it did not
throw an error when I started the PREPARE phase for ABAP.
I am stuck with this error and unable to move forward. Can you please
let me know how do I proceed.
Has anyone faced this problem before or am I doing anything wrong here?

I was able to get over this by using the DVD - SAP CRM 2007 Java Upgrade for all OS -(51033255_25) upgrade Master DVD.

Preparing to Upgrade to LiveCycle® ES from 7.x document error: page 85, when configuring the JMS with Microsoft SQL Server 2005 for JBoss 4.0.3 SP1. Step 5: Modifiy <local-tx datasource> element ..... <connection-url> jdbc:microsoft.sqlserver ..... <c/onnection-url>, in mssql-ds.xml file:
Should be: <connection-url>jdbc:sqlserver://.... </connection-url>
Notice the word "microsoft" needs to be removed as this is SQL 2005, not SQL 2000.
Also, in the same JMS configue file, com.microsoft.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver should be changed to com.microsoft.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver as the driver-class.
We are using

Hi Recently i have upgraded developer 6i by applying patches.
After when i am trying to submit active users and active responsibilities.

But when i am trying to click button view output or view log

The error is reported in one note only, and it seems it is not applied to your current setup. I would suggest you log a SR to confirm if you need to apply patch 4653217 or not.

Recommandations for upgrading from 46C to ECC 6.0

Our SAP system landscape is actually in 46c and is only composed of 3 servers with almost 40 users declared (25 actives) on production system. Modules FI/CO HR MM are actually implemented.
We plan to upgrade the system to ECC 6.0 between March and August of 2009. The evaluation of the upgrade should begin as soon as possible. Do you think it can be possible to realise the upgrade alone, without the help and expertise of a SAP consultant? Do you think the delay for preparing the upgrade is suffisant?

Focus on functionality extension and improvement
Enablement of new and optimized business processes and scenarios based on new ERP core functionality
2. Functional/Retrofit Upgrade
New functionality to be implemented as part of the upgrade, modification clearing
Focus on reduction of system complexity
3. Technical Upgrade
Focus on pure technology upgrade
Retain functionality used
Review Usage of custom developments
As per the requirement. knowledge and experience the decision can be made.

SAP will not provide solman key. However it will provide a solution manager free for ERP software. The first system that should be installed is solman in the landscape. By making solman mandatory SAP wants to regulate the irregularities in the annual fees payment by the customers. It want their customers to habituate to this software, so it provided some of the usefull concepts in solman i.e central administration of all systems in the landscape, preparation of implementation projects using ASAP methodology, maintaining service level agreement reports, provides service desk option(ticketing tool), early watch alerts etc.
So upgrade to NW2004s it is mandatory that you have solman installed.

How to Prepare for Leopard?

I finally got Leopard. What should I do to prepare for installing it on my iMac G5? I have 37 gigabytes of space left on my hard drive and one gigabyte of RAM. I understand that the Classic support is no longer available in Leopard. How can I identify my old classic applications and copy them to CD, so that my kids can run them on their old iMacs before deleting them? Will the upgrade remove all of the old OS9 stuff?

No, with the advent of Leopard and Access Control Lists, repairing permission is more important than ever. And of course, everyone should check their HD for non-file related errors as a routine test for the efficacy of the HD and certainly before stressing it by installing a new OS on it.

Anyone who does not know that Leopard runs on BSD, a Unix-like OS, and does not check that underlying prop carefully and regularly is asking for problems.
