Preparing, Preparing Preparing, Over 2 days
Hi all,
Ive read Podini's Guides and not been able to find an answer to why after a long period with using time machine with timecapsule it is taking such a long time to get to a point of backing up.
so As I think this is a TM Issue I will post here.
I've been in the console.app log and cannot see any errors exactly but it is repeating the same behaviour over and over. This is the log from last night when it was left alone, without interruptions: (The log basically repeats the same behaviour but thought it would be good to see a bigger picture)
The Log ends at 08.59 on a deep traversal job, and that is the current state now @ 12.39pm
Its reporting the UUID thing and a deep traversal, but it is stopping and cancelling the backup without any reason: Is this a normal part of the process as it tries to thin the back up drive? to stop and start again?
The only other thing I noticed which seems correct is the disk image 'back up of my macbook' is listed under 'do not back up' in time machine preferences.
Any Help appreciated.

it's safe to say that your backup is stuck. there is no sense to wait any longer. you should cancel it from TM menu->stop backup. then repair the sparse bundle with backups using disk utility. any errors? also, verify the startup drive using disk utility. any errors there? if yes, boot from the leopard install dvd and repair the startup drive using disk utility there.

I had to get a new hard drive in my 27 in IMac. I used time machine to get everything back on my computer. I just turn on time machine and its says it's preparing over 800,000 items to back-up, it never back-up, it stop and starts the process over again.
Could be many things, we should start with this...

ICal month view - appointments over two days
Very annoying but when entering a new event in the month view it defaults to an all day event - ok I can cope with that.
But when double clicking the new event to change it to a timed event (still in month view) and tabbing through the dates and time, the duration seems to default to 6+ hours, so after 17:00 defaults to being over two days and it is too easy to miss changing the end date.
Is there a way out of this?In the month view, it's all down to the number of events you have on that day plus the size of the window/resolution of the screen.
If there's room, iCal will display all of an event's description, but if you shrink the window or add more events, the description will reduce in size- eventually into two columns - to give a chance of seeing all of them. Once there are more events than fit, you'll see an elipsis ( ... } at the top of the day. When this happens, you can only see ALL that day's events by going to week or day views.
You can potentially fit more in on the month view by turning-off the option to show the event time in month view in iCal Preferences. -
Events over multiple days only show on the first day in 'Month' view

I've noticed that if I create an event that spans over two days (for example 23 May 2008 at 6 PM to 24 May 2008 at 1 PM) are only displayed on the from date in Month view.
This is unfortunate because if I look at my calendar in Month view, I think I'm free on the 24th, when in fact I'm busy until 1 PM.
Is there a way to get the Month view to display an entry for the event on both days (other than creating one event running from 23 May 2008 at 6 PM to 11:59 PM and a second from 24 May 2008 at 1:01 AM to 1 PM)?

I just had the exact same problem the other day. I was asked to make an appointment with someone, I checked my calendar (actually on my iPhone) and I looked available that day so agreed and even entered the event. Turns out I will be working 70 miles away on the event I entered on the day prior. I've had the embarrassment of having to reschedule - makes me look disorganised.
The month view on iPhone is just the same as iCal - if it's not an 'all day' event it only shows on the first day. This is poor. I recall even outlook and windows mobile calendar manages to display this sensibly. Apple should be fixing this pronto. -

I downloaded Adobe Photoshop cs5 Extended ages ago and now that I want to re-install it I can't find the product. I tried to find it in my order history however it was over 30 days ago.

Please, the battery of my mac air does not last more than two hours, it's been over 30 days I sent for technical assistance and nothing! I am very disappointed with the mac air, I had a very different expectation of apples products!!!

Try these:
Make sure bluetooth is turned off if you're not using it.
Set your screen brightness to 4 bars.
See what's loading in your login items. Delete the ones you don't need.
Open Activity Monitor - under All Processes see what's using most of your CPU's resources.
Highlight the ones with the highest %CPU and hit quit process.
Remember that when Apple says that your battery should last 7 hours, they tested it just browsing the web and not have anything open in the background and screen is set at 50% brightness. -
How can I get updates for Photoshop CS5 to download to my new Mac book pro where CS5 is already installed from my original disk? I have tried many times over 2 days. The Adobe auto updater is highly unreliable.
You need to look for and download the update yourself and then manually apply it as per the detailed instructions on the download page:

My iphoto9 has not been able to open for over 10 days!! I can't load my Christmas pics, etc. I know the pics are still there because I can access them through a round about way. Can anyone help me to OPEN iPHOTO!?
To re-install iPhoto
1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
2a: On 10.5: Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows: In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
/var/db/receipts/
2c: on 10.7 they're at
/private/var/db/receipts
A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.
3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.
If you purchased it on the App Store or have a Recent Mac you can find it in your Purchases List. -

Per my understanding that you have an date field(Due Date) in the report and now you want to get the over due days based on this field and display at right of the date field in the report, right?
I have tested on my local environment that we have two method to do this, one is to add the datediff functon in the query to get the overdue days and another method is to using expression in the report.
Details information below for your reference:
Method one:
Modify the query as below to get the new field(OverDue Days):
SELECT DueDate, DATEDIFF(day, DueDate, GETDATE()) AS OverDueDays
FROM tableName
Method Two:
Add an calculated fields and then add the expression below to get the value for this field or just add expression directly in the new field:
=Datediff("d",Fields!DueDate.Value,Today())
If your problem still exists, please try to provide us some sample date and more details information about your requirements.

My iPhone was stolen and I have lost all my photos as some were over 30 days old. Is there anyway I can get these back as they were on iCloud originally but i didn't put them onto my pc! :o( please can somebody help me get these back.
Unfortunately iCloud only stores photos for 30 days, to give all your devices a chance to download them. After this period they are deleted from Photo Stream and can not be retrieved.

I was wondering if there was a way to get the photos that are over 30 days old into my photostream on my computer. My iPhone 5 has 1,000 photos in the photostream but only the ones that are less than 30 days old go on to my computer. I can't find any setting on icloud either- just yes/no photostream and then my photostream and the share option. I want to do this so I can view my older photos on my computer so I can save them in my computer's library.
Thanks!No. PhotoStream only stores a maximum of 1000 photos for up to 30 days as stated in all descriptions of the service. You're supposed to download photos you want to keep within 30 days of them going to PhotoStream.
PhotoStream is not a permanent storage solution. -
I wanted to print all the emails from a gmail label. My googling suggested that Thunderbird would do this. I didn't see any warnings about Gmail's stealth setting that it would ERASE me emails from the server, but it did. And now Thunderbird has no emails in it, leaving me with years of lost work and pictures. It has been over 30 days since this happened, as I didn't realize it had happen as, oddly, it didn't erase all of the emails, just some (likely because Thunderbird crashed every time I tried to use it and didn't do a full pull of my gmail e-mails, but kept telling me it was out of space which it was not as I have a huge drive).
Does anyone have a suggestion regarding where I can find my e-mails? I tried to do a restore on my backup drive (where I had downloaded and used thunderbird) but it says there are no earlier versions. I am in the process of begging gmail to help me, but I don't know if they can.Well, the only thing you can do is go to Gmail in a web browser and hope your e-mails are still on the server. If they were deleted there, then there really isn't a way to get them back. :(
