PrePro [CS4] error because of missing plug-in

Hi there,
I got a problem when starting Premiere Pro CS 4.2.1.
The thing is that I deleted a plug-in that was connected with Premiere Pro.
A few days ago when I upgraded to Apple Logic Studio 2 I decided to get rid of all everything I don't need anymore.
And since I decided to not use that specific plug in anymore I deleted it. I didn't think that any problem with Premier would occur though.
Now when I try to start Premiere the following error occurs:
"(the Plugin) cannot find the default file def.p5a. Please locate the file in order to use the default preset." All i can do now is click "ok". Afterwards I'm promted to locate the missing file, which isn't on my system anymore anyway. So all i can do now is cancel that procedure. Then the next error message appears:
"(the plugin) cannot find the default controlmap file controlmap.txt. Please locate the file now." Again, the only option that remains is "ok". But that doesn't seen to achieve much, because nothing happens and that dialog stays on the screen forever. I can click "ok" as much as I want, it doesn't go away!!!!! Argh!
How can I tell Premiere that I don't want to use that plugin anyway?
Is there anyway to start Pre without checking for all plugins and then deselect it within premiere somewhere? This is driving me nuts. I can't work with Premiere anymore. So please help me out here.
Cheers!

OK, you had a VST (probably as a .dll), that is still listed in your Registry, and PrPro is hanging on loading, or trying to load it.
Let's step back a moment, and see if this ARTICLE offers any help. If nothing else, it will give a bit of background on VST's.
Now, PrPro tries to load all VST's. From the above article, in the case of #3, it will freeze in the launch process. However, it is also writing a "blacklist," telling the program to NOT try and load that VST again. This can result in having to launch many times, while that blacklist is being populated with all of the offending VST's. If you have a large number of say "instrument" VST's, this can mean many failed launches, until all have been added to that list, one at a time.
If you have removed that "known bad" VST, but PrPro is still trying to load it, then something is telling PrPro that it IS still around. I would guess that this stems from an entry in the Registry, that was not removed, when you uninstalled the VST. I would look into a Registry cleaner, like CCleaner, to try and clean up the Registry, and hopefully remove all references to that now missing VST.
Going back some versions, one user, Eddie Lotter, was working on a blacklist file to help PrPro get past the #3 VST's. What I do not know is if CS4 writes to a physical, and separate blacklist file, like Eddie's Blacklist.TXT file, or if that info is inside another file. Maybe Jeff, or others, can comment. If there IS a true, separate Blacklist.TXT (or similar extension), one should be able to manually edit it (always make a copy of it and store it safely away) to reflect the offending VST.
I'd look at things in that order: keep trying to launch the program, in hopes that it does catalog all #3 VST's, and will finally complete that cataloging and launch; try a Registry cleaner; look for a Blacklist.txt, or similar file, and try to edit it to include that VST. Make sure that you get the exact and full name that PrPro is looking for.
Good luck,
Hunt

  • Unable to open documents because of missing plug ins

I am unable to open documents in CS3 (version 5.04)
    I am getting a message:"Missing Plug Ins: Conditional Text.InDesignPlugIn, WorldReady.InDesignPlugin.
The document "xxxxx.indd" uses one or more plug-ins which are not currently available on your system. Do you want to open anyway?"
If I click on OK I get another window, stating "Cannot Open File", a list of all kind of missing Plugins and the message "Cannot open "xxxxx.indd". Please upgrade your plug-ins to their latest versions, or upgrade to the latest version of Adobe InDesign.
I don't want to switch to CS4 and as far as I know version 5.04 of CS3 is the latest.
Any ideas of what I could do to get the latest PlugINs or anything else that would help?
    Thank you!
    Anne

Probably, but it's 100% not necessary when going from CS4 to CS3. It might be a case of 'half read, then half-understood'.
As this is a really frequent question and there are still no sticky posts: anyone up for a "feature request" that makes InDesign check the version number before opening? (Of course that wouldn't work backwards to CS3. Still, it'd avoid these kind of posts when CS6 comes out. Note: not CS5, because that would have no problems opening CS4, but CS4 would have problems with Cs5! Oh, for planning ahead ...  )

  • Missing plug-ins after downloading adobe flash player 11.2.202.235

    Hello again:
I sent a request the other day for help regarding my downloading Adobe Flash Player 11.2.202.235 and losing the ability to play my games( they were bookmarked from the web) because of missing plug- ins.  I mentioned that I know very little about this computer.  I did get a reply saying that he needed more information about my computer which I sent and I have not heard anything back.  I probably did not send the message correctly therefore I am sending the info again and I hope I don't screw it up this time. My computer is as follows:
    iMac4,1 Version 10.6.8
    Intel core duo
    2GHz
    # of processors 1
    Total # of Cores 2
    L2 Cache 2MB
    Memory 1.5GB

    SMC Version(system) 1.1F5
I hope you can help me in the simplest way possible so I can understand your instructions.
    Thanks again,
    Margaret

It's confusing when a single poster starts two threads on the same topic and it divides the replies or has duplicate replies for those that are unware of the other thread.  You should post the above in the thread you originally started after my post which asked for some clearification on the problem.

  • Suddenly getting "Missing Plug-Ins" errors when opening .indd files in InDesign CS2

I have a PC running Windows 7 and InDesign CS2. The laptop's installation of Windows was corrupted and I had to re-install the OS. I backed up all files, reinstalled the OS, and then reinstalled applications. One of those applications was InDesign CS2. However, after the installation of CS2 on the fresh copy of Windows, I noticed that I have trouble opening most, but not all, of the InDesign files on my hard drive.
When I try to open a .indd file I see an error message pop up that says "Missing Plug-ins. LILO.APLN, DYNAMICDOCUMENTS.RPLN, CONDITIONALTEXT.RPLN" and three more. Under that list of missing plugins is the warning "This document uses one or more plug-ins which are not currently available on your system. Do you want to open anyway?"  If I click "okay" I then am met with another dialog box that says "Cannot open file. TEXT.RPLN, LAYER.RPLN" and on and on for about 60 more items.
I KNOW WHAT YOU'RE THINKING! I've searched around concerning this issue and it appears the consensus is that the file was opened by a newer version of InDesign. That possibility is, in fact, an impossibility. Never have I used a newer version of InDesign. The files that I am working on were backed up, stored on local storage and not touched once before reinstalling the OS and reinstalling InDesign CS2.
I also noticed that not all InDesign file formats were associated with InDesign in "Windows Programs and Defaults." I changed those to look to InDesign. I've also uninstalled InDesign CS2 and re-installed.
Not all InDesign CS2 files are exhibiting this behavior. So far, it appears more than half are, but some can be opened with no problems. There seems to be no correlation between which ones are able to be opened and which ones can't be opened.
What could have happened to these files and is there any possibility of opened them again? Any guidance is greatly appreciated.

Conditional Text was a new feature in CS4. I'm thinking, can you explain how your old CS2 documents became aware of it?
    Not exactly sure myself. Abiogenesis?
    [Edit]
Almost forgot. I wrote a script to unequivocally determine the InDesign version a document was last saved as:
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/4071273
I'll give that a try today. Even an affirmative judgement that the files are newer than CS2 would not impress me however. The fact remains, the files were copied off one hard drive over to another, the plug was pulled on the hard drive, the PC was re-imaged, CS2 was reinstalled, the files were copied back over... and whammo.

  • Missing plug-ins error

    Hello everyone,
I am attempting to open an InDesign document that a client sent me and I keep getting missing plug in errors. I am using Indesign Cs5 on a Mac with Os 10.6. I have run into this issue before when trying to open files made on older versions of InDesign so I attempted to open the file with both Cs3 and Cs4 without any luck. Is there some where I can down load the missing plugins so I can view this file? If it helps at all the error I recieve is "Missing Plug-ins Shared Content.InDesign plugin", I scenerly hope I dont have to update to cs5.5 after only having cs5 for a year.

    It’s a CS5.5 file.
If you upgrade to CS5.5 now you’ll get CS6 for free.

  • Missing plug-ins for InDesign CS4? Fehlende Zusatzmodule für InDesign CS4?

Missing plug-ins for InDesign CS4? Fehlende Zusatzmodule für InDesign CS4?
    Hello! Hallo!
I am working with CS4 on the Mac OS X, version 10.6.8. I created some InDesign files with it a couple of weeks ago. When I want to open them now again, it shows me a long list of plug-ins that I supposedly have to activate first or I need to buy the newest CS as an alternative.1. How did this problem come off? 2. How can I activate the missing plug-ins?
    1. Wie ist das Problem zustande gekommen? 2. Wie kann ich die benötigten Zusatzmodule aktivieren?
    Thank you all! Danke schön!

Actually, Indesign only says like "I can't open, because it was saved from a newer version" and does not list any extensions/plugins.
If you now make a new document, save it and open again - will it work?
Those plug-ins are usually enabled/disabled via the Adobe Extension Manager (Menü "Hilfe"->Erweiterungen verwalten).

    Hello People!
I'm getting an error message when I plug my iPhone 4 into my computer.  It says, "This iPhone cannot be used because the Apple Moblie Device Service has not been started."  What does this mean?  I've never had this error before.  It's also giving the same message with my iPod touch.  Please help!
    Thanks,
    DanaGal

You can easily check whether you've the Apple Mobile Device in your computer.
Right click 'My Computer' , then Manage => Services and Applications => Services.  Apple Mobile Device is listed in alphabetical order.  If none, it means you've not download iTunes into your computer yet.  If yes, please ensure the Apple Mobile Device is in 'Started' status.
    Good luck

I am a Macbook user Lion OS X 10.7.5 …have been using Target, Walgreens, Shutterfly, etc. for 5 years with photo developing.  Recently cannot use any of these photo websites because of the "Plug In Failure" error..which I have never had.  Have updated adobe flash player..still to no avail.  Suggestions?  Thank you.

You need to do a "clean install": http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1267823
That'll remove the old plug-in completely.
    Works 99% of the time.

Hello. I am having trouble with adobe reader but only certain files. When I first signed up for school in may Adobe Flash Player and Adobe Reader were required and when I did the check plug-ins system check, both were installed and running just fine. Just in the past 2 days is the check plug-ins test saying Adobe reader is not installed. I have tried un-installing and re-installing but still saying it is not installed. I'm not having troubl with all adobe reader files. I'm an online student and my e-books are opening and displaying just fine. Also my pdf documents saved on my computer are opening just fine. When I try to view a websites brochure, a websites sale paper, or maybe open up an article, the page pops up but the image won't display. It keeps saying "missing Plug-ins". I have a MAC 10.6.8. running on Safari and I have downloaded Adobe Reader 10.1.0. I need to be able to open up articles because I'm doing a homework assignment that requires one. If u can help in any way, please do.

I've tried all the fixes listed in the discussions about missing plug-ins in Mail.  None of them worked.  I can see attachements in the emails, but when I forward them, the missing plug-in shows up in place of the attachments on the forwarded email.  I'm running the latest OS 10.7 on my Mac Pro and I just downloaded the latest Java app.  HELP!!

  • Upgrade to 18.0 has disabled Java even though plugin checker says Java 7 Update 10 is up to date, yet webpages using java display "missing plug in" error

Attempting to install the "missing plug-in" using the Firefox prompts results in Java 7 Update 10 being installed, re-installing it is successful and does not resolve the issue, Firefox 18 refuses to allow/display java content even with the proper updated version of Java installed.
This problem ONLY occurred immediately following this mornings update to Firefox 18.0.

    Context:
    Yesterday: Java working fine.
This morning: Update to Firefox 18.0
Java will not work, not at all even with Java 7 Update 10 installed, not even the "verify java version" applet at http://www.java.com/en/download/installed.jsp will display.
When attempting to view/display any java content the "missing plug-in" error bar at the top of the page displays and attempting to install the required plug-in via that method does not resolve the issue even though the correct version of Java is installed and the plug-in checker verified it was "up-to-date".

  • How do I rid a CS3 document of a "missing plug-in" when it is opened in CS4?

Before I upgraded to InDesign CS4, I used to have a plug-in for cross-references. When I open that particular document in CS4 (originally made in CS3) a window pops up with this "Missing Plug-ins" message: "Cross-References.pln; The document uses one or more plug-ins which are not currently available on your system etc." I can open the document, make changes to it and save it as a CS4 document. But whenever I open it, the same pop up window appears with the same message.
Is there any way to "clean" it (get rid of the plug-in) or do I have to make a new document from scratch?

The usual way: export to INX, or, since this is a CS4 document, to IDML and open that. Exporting to INX/IDML removes all extra information from the file.

  • InDesign CS4: Missing Toolbars and Missing Plug-In

Currently running InDesign CS4, version 6.0 on a Macbook Pro.
I was just using the program last night with no issues. Upon opening InDesign today, Adobe Updater popped up at launch; I installed updates. Now when I open a new document in InDesign, there are no toolbars on the side of my screen. (I've tried using the tab key shortcut, but nothing happens.)
Also, when I try to open previously saved InDesign files from my computer, I get the following pop-up:
    Missing Plug-ins
    LILO.APLN
The document "filename" uses one or more plug-ins which are not currently available on your system. Do you want to open anyway?
    And then this pop-up:
Hyphenation breaks may change if you edit the text in this document.
The following hyphenation services are not installed on this system - Proximity (English: USA)
I don't know what either of these messages mean. I'm not incredibly tech-saavy, so any advice would be EXTREMELY appreciated.

Uninstalled the Creative Suite. Ran the cleanup tool. Reinstalled the suite from the installation discs.
Upon opening InDesign, I got these two messages:
    LILO.APLN
The document "filename" uses one or more plug-ins which are not currently available on your system. Do you want to open anyway?
    And then:
Hyphenation breaks may change if you edit the text in this document.
The following hyphenation services are not installed on this system - Proximity (English: USA)
    Also, toolbars are gone again.
