Preprocessing phase and Execution phase of DMO

Hi experts,
I have a question.
Please tell me whether my understanding of DMO procedure steps of Preprocessing phase and Execution phase is right.
I think as below.
  Phase
  sequence
  Steps
  whether users can
log on SAP system or can not
  whether
application data is able to be changed or not
  Uptime or
  Downtime
  Preprocessing
  1
  Creating Shadow
  instance
  Users can log on
  ERP
  Application data
  is able to be changed
  Uptime
  2
  Creating Shadow
  repository
  Users can log on
  ERP
  Application data
is not be able to be changed
  Uptime
  3
  Migration
  repository
  Users can log on
  ERP
  Application data
is not be able to be changed
  Uptime
  Execution
  4
  Migration
  application data
  Users can not log
  on ERP
  Application data
is not be able to be changed
  Downtime
When creating shadow instance, users can log on SAP system and can change application data.
When creating shadow repository, user can log on SAP system but can not change application data.
Both when creating shadow instance and creating shadow repository ,users can log on SAP system.
So Preprocessing phase is uptime .
Is that right ?
Thanks in advance.
Best Regards,
Kazuki

Hi Kazuki,
The the EXECUTION phase denotes the start of Downtime.

    Hi Reagan ,
The issue was taken to SAP development security team :::Below is the  weird issue ::
Firstly ,for the authorizations to work correctly, all authorization tables must be in a consistent state as below :
    ust04, ust10c, ust10s, ust12, usrbf2, usrbf3.
If we  want to maintain authorizations, also usr04, usr10, usr12 are  required.
But here , a mismatch of tables usrbf2 and usrbf3  in 2 instances are the reason for the stuck in the upgrade :::
    SQL> select count(*) from sapsr3.USRBF2 where MANDT = '000' and BNAME =
    'DDIC';
    COUNT(*)
    2997
    SQL> select count(*) from sapsr3.USRBF3 where MANDT = '000' and BNAME =
    'DDIC';
    COUNT(*)
    1
    SQL>
SQL> select count(*) from sapsr3shd.USRBF2 where MANDT = '000' and
    BNAME =
    'DDIC';
    COUNT(*)
    673
SQL> select count(*) from sapsr3shd.USRBF3 where MANDT = '000' and
    BNAME =
    'DDIC';
    COUNT(*)
    1
This issue was resolved by SAP and then upgrade went fine ,This is not an issue with password of DDIC !!!!!

  • Modification adjustments during Preprocessing phase in ECC6.0 EHP4 upgrade

    Hello All,
We are upgrading our SAP systems from R3 4.7 to ECC 6.0 EHP4 and we are currently in the PreProcessing phase. The upgrade screen has prompted the below message
*You must now include your repository modifications
    in the new SAP import.
35 modified objects are found to be adjusted and
0 objects are automatically maintained by import
of an adjustment transport bound to this procedure.
CAUTION: It is impossible to keep these modifications
after you have confirmed this query.
Do you want to make adjustments to ABAP dictionary
    objects ?*
    I had a few queries
    1. Can we carry out the modification adjustment now in the SPDD transaction or did we have to complete it in the Configuration Phase?
    2. When we login to the Shadow Instance we are unable to see any of our custom Z progams and transactions in SE38 and SE93 respectively. Is this an issue or will they be available only after the upgrade?
    3. If we create the adjustments to Dictionary objects how do we flag the request for transport in SPDD transaction?
Appreciate any help in understanding the above queries and solution to proceed.
    Thanks

    Hi,
    > 1. Can we carry out the modification adjustment now in the SPDD transaction or did we have to complete it in the Configuration Phase?
You have to perform SPDD now.
    > 2. When we login to the Shadow Instance we are unable to see any of our custom Z progams and transactions in SE38 and >SE93 respectively. Is this an issue or will they be available only after the upgrade?
SPDD is not for your Z programs. SPDD is for if you have done changed in SAP standard objects. SPDD will show changes that you have done standard object.
    > 3. If we create the adjustments to Dictionary objects how do we flag the request for transport in SPDD transaction?
    >
Go to SPDD transaction and changes accordingly and add to transport request there. For more information Check SAP note 485741.
    Thanks

Not seen this one before. This domain is part of a table append for EWM called "Item Process for Integration of EWM and Manufacturing" - was a business extension activated on the source system? What was the source? EHP3?

Those are all normal upgrade hints.
If you have such real errors as the first ones you posted it's a good advise to just fire up a browser, open http://service.sap.com/notes and search for the object name... in 90 % of the cases you will find a note.
Often it also help to just repeat the phase and check the log again. some of the problems are sometimes just sequence problems that are gone after the second try.

  • Implementing Auto Contract Generation/Negotiation and Execution

Would love to hear from anyone that has implemented auto contract generation/negotiation and execution.  Were there any lessons learned you could share during implementation?  Were there things you found out - too late? Are you seeing adoption?  How long did the implementation take?  Pain points along the road?  Things you would do differently?  We are getting ready to take this trip ourselves and I have a feeling it will not be smooth sailing.

    Hello Sravan
Your message isn't clear fo me
If you used import for new master data you can use automatic key generation ability for inbound port
    The another way:
You can create special key field in MDM and
create simple workflow which fire when ADD record.
That worklflow call assignment which fill key field

  • How query cost and execution time are releated ?

    hi experts,
i am curious to know, how the query cost and execution time is related?
Query taking less time ,query cost is 65%, but query taking more time but query cost is 0%.
how to connect both and improve query performance.
    Thanks

i think you are refering to cost (relative to the batch) execution 65%, where there are more that one statement, it may compare the cost of each statement with in the batch
i assume it mainly take subtree cost and IO stat as cost, but in some cases i may wrong when there is multi line function and many other facter influence the cost, and i would say it depends on the query
    cost is unit-less
The reason these costs exist is because of the query optimization SQL Server does: it does cost-based optimization, which means that the optimizer formulates a lot of different ways to execute the query, assigns a cost to each of these alternatives, and
chooses the one with the least cost. The cost tagged on each alternative is heurestically calculated, and is supposed to roughly reflect the amount of processing and I/O this alternative is going to take.

  • Way to increase "MAXIMUM UPTIME PROCESSES" during preprocessing phase

    Hi All,
It has always been frustrated when your ACT_UPG, SHADOW_IMPORT_INC phases are running very slow due to low number of MAX UPTIME PROCESSES enter earlier.
I've been looking for a method to increase MAX UPTIME PROCESSES during upgrade, or shadow instance creation, but to no avail and guru here said there's no way to amend the Uptime Processes after you input the value during the preparation phase, but just to wait until it finish.
However, i found out this can be done by changing the value for parameter mainimp_proc in *.TPP files (located under EHPI\abap\bin). eg of *.TPP files to be changed are based on the *.ECO located under EHPI\abap\tmp)
    For instance:
youu2019ll see below command in TPAPP.ECO file:
    EXECUTING D:\usr\sap\EHPI\abap\exe\tp.exe pf=D:\usr\sap\EHPI\abap\bin\SHDUPGIMP1.TPP
Therefore, you can increase the number of UPTIME processes by changing the value mainimp_proc in SHDUPGIMP1.TPP
In order to change this, first, you need to kill the R3trans processes, and SAPehpi will prompt you the error message. take this opportunity to change the parameter. Make a backup before you change any files.
To maintain consistency, i think is good to amend parameter mainimp_proc in every *.TPP based on the time it created when you launch the EHPI. Because, SAPEHPI will generated the value you enter into *.TPP file base on the global template. Also, check on every *.ECO file in /tmp for each phase to determine what *.TPP file is being read.
    example of .TPP files:
    SHDUPGIMP1.TPP, SHADOW.TPP, DEFAULT.TPP, TOOLIMPM.TPP, TOOLIMPI.TPP, and etc
For your information, it is not recommend to change the processes during the upgrade and you should bear your own responsibility. The purpose of this post is just for sharing.
For my situation, my colleague has insert value "2" for MAX UPTIME PROCESSES and it's veryslow due to only 2 R3trans is running and the clock is ticking for us. I change the parameter to "6" after some analysis done how EHP read the value. The good news is i can see 6 R3trans are running and 6 Support Packages are importing in /EHPI/abap/tmp.
Time it takes to complete had shortened tremendously and upgrade completed without any error.
Please provide any feedback on how it works if youu2019ve tried it or going to try it in future.
    Thanks,
    Nicholas.

    > Please provide any feedback on how it works if youu2019ve tried it or going to try it in future.
Just to throw in my EUR 0.02:
In most cases you do an upgrade not only one on a production system but also before on a test system - or at best - on a copy of the production.
At the end of the upgrade you get an UPGEVAL.XML file that lists the runtime of the various phases and also the configuration.
For such huge upgrades ('real' upgrades or e. g. EHP4) we do this upgrade several times with copies of the production (3+ TB database) and try to optimize the runtime for us plus avoiding most of the errors during activation and upgrade phases. For our EHP4 project I did a total of 6 upgrades in a copy of the production to find the optimum number of processes. This implies however, that resources are available (in sense of time and hardware) but we found out from the past, that this invest is of much more use than having a trembling administrator on a sunday evening sitting there and hoping that there'll be no restore of the database necessary.
With todays database and/or storage technologies (snaphots/clones) it's no more a big administrative task to copy a system and reset it after the upgrade and start over if it was too slow.
Out of my experience I would say, that I'd set the parameters always as high as the number of CPUs you have on the server executing the upgrade process, it's very rare that the machine comes to its CPU limit with nowadays CPU power, even if there's the production running.

  • Explain Plan and Execution Plan in 10gR2.

    Hi,
    Version 10.2.0.1.0.
    I have two questions:
    1) If the explain plan differs from the execution path in this version, then, is it safe to assume that the statistics are stale (or not gathered at all) on the underlying tables?
    2) Can you in any way make a query use RBO instead of CBO? (I know it doesn't make any sense since CBO is lot smarter, but, for purely academic reasons).
    Thank you,
    Rahul.

The rule based optimizer is most definitely present in 10gR2. It might not be in the documentation, but it is still there.

  • Query text and execution plan collection from prod DB Oracle 11g

    Hi all,
I would like to collect query text, query execution plan and other statistics for all queries (mainly select queries) from production database.
I am doing this by using OEM by click on Top activity link under performance tab but this gives top sql which is recent.
This approach is helpful only when I need to debug recent queries only. If I need to know slow running queries and their execution plan at the end of day or sometime later then it’s not helpful for me.
Anybody who has some better idea to do this will really be helpful.

    we did followings:
1.Used awrextr.sql to export dmp file from production database.(imported snpashot id from 331 to 560)
    2.transfer file to test database.
3.Used awrload.sql to import it in test database.
but when we used OEM and went to Automatic Workload Repository link under Server tab
its not showing snapshots of production database (which we have imported in test database )
and showing only snapshot which was already there in test database.
We did not find any error in import/export.
do we need to perform something else also to display snapshots of production database in test database.

  • Difference between JIT compiler and Execution engine...

where does bytecode get generated???is is in the JIT compiler or in the execution engine???What actually is the process happening inside JVM???can anybody help me in knowing this???

where does bytecode get generated?Bytecode is the output of javac, the j2se sdk java source compiler.
is it in the JIT compiler or in the execution engine? No, and No.
What actually is the process happening inside JVM?The bytecode of the classes to be used
    is loaded and verified
For an application the main() method of the primary class is launched.
can anybody help me in knowing this?Unknown.
We can tell you the answers to the questions you seem to be asking.
It would help if you could be a bit more specific.

  • How do I limit the number of Operator Interface and Execution instances to one?

We have a problem in MFG.  The operator launches to instances of the operator interface and executes the same sequence.  A second scenario is where the operator is executing the sequence and then changes from the execution window back to the Sequence Display window and launches a second execution window.  We need to understand how to limit the number of executions within an instance of the Operator Interface to one.  We also need to understand how to limit the number of instances of the Operator Interface to one.
