I have an Ion iTTUSB turntable to record vinyl to MP3s. Everything was OK. Copied dozen records
with EZ Vinyl Controller v2.1 w/ Gracenote: this converts the sound & sends it to iTunes. All good with
playback until I recorded ABBA's Greatest Hits! (Yes HA-HA! That was my 1st problem.) There occured
a harmonic distortion event (loud hum developed-feedback loop). I quickly turned down my external Labtec
speakers. The hum was recorded in the iTunes MP3 file and I heard it in playback. Then there was no playback
sound at all: no system sounds, CDs, movies, etc. However, there is still audible input sound when I record
vinyl while recording, but no playback sound afterwards. Fried soundcard? Drivers? (Realtek AC'97 Audio for VIA)

You can check if your Mac requires a firmware (Boot ROM version in System Profiler) update. Mac OS X: Available firmware updates
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=86117 If an update is required, the update must be installed (using OS 9) BEFORE you install OS X.
If you want to leave OS 9 on your hard drive so you can run classic applications, you need to update to OS 9.2.1 or 9.2.2.

My Sound is stuck on mute:

  • How can I do live streaming with a Mac Book Pro 2011, using a new model of Sony HD camcorder which does not have firewire out/input? it comes only with a component video output, USB, HDMI and composite RCA output?

I need to do live streaming with a Mac Book Pro 2011, using a new model of Sony HD camcorder (http://store.sony.co...ber=HDRAX2000/H) ..this camcorder model does not have firewire out/input ..it comes only with a component video output, USB, HDMI and composite A/V video output..
I wonder how can I plug this camcorder to the firewire port of my laptop? Browsing on internet I found that Grass Valley Company produces this converter http://www.amazon.co...=A17MC6HOH9AVE6 ..but I am not sure -not even after checking the amazon reviews- if this device will send the video signal through firewire to my laptop, in order to live streaming properly? ..anyone in this forum could help me please?
    Thanx

I can't broadcast with the built in iSight webcam... how would I zoom in or zoom out? or how would I pan? I've seem people doing it walking with their laptops but that's not an option for me... there's nothing wrong with my USB ports but that's neither an option to stream video because as far as I know through USB you can't connect video in apple operating systems ..you can for sure plug any video cam or photo camera through usb but as a drive to transfer data not as a live video camera...  is by firewire an old interface developed by apple that you can connect all sorts of cameras to apple computers... unfortunately my new sony HDR-AX2000 camcorder doesn't have firewire output...

I have a 2007 iMac connected via WiFi. It has been working fine until I turned it on after a recent vacation. Network Preferences indicates that it is correctly connected to my WiFI system but the data input and output rate is virtually zero. I know that the WiFI signal is reaching the iMac since both my iPhone and iPad are working perfectly at that location. I have rebooted the router and the iMac to no avail. • No digital video output from XVR-300 in Ultra-45

I am switching from solaris 10/x86 to sparc. I have a new Ultra-45 with XVR-300 graphics adapter. It's running Solaris 10u4. The system was ordered as a standard configuration from the catalog.
The XVR-300 graphics adapter currently produces no digital output. My Sun A1240P0 24" monitor reports no signal on the DVI input. That is, there is no digital output at power on (boot ROM), during Solaris boot (terminal), nor after Solaris finishes booting (X).
The graphics adaptor uses a connector with two video outputs, and comes with a splitter cable with two DVI output connectors. I get no video output on either. The DVI cable I am using is the one that works when connected to the graphics adaptor on the old system.
I added a VGA adapter plug to connector 1 of the splitter cable, and was able to get an analog signal to drive the display via the VGA input connector.
The manuals for the Ultra-45 and for the XVR-300 make no mention of analog vs digital output. They both just say to connect the adapter to the monitor.
Since I can get analog output from the SVR-300, the card is basically working. The DVI cable and the monitor's DVI input work with another system. The only variables are the digital output from the XVR-300 and the splitter cable. (The splitter cable's analog signals work.)
How can I activate digital output and make it the default?

  • Clips from Project bin to source monitor causing video output to go out of sync(CS6 and CC)

Any footage I double-click or drag from the Project window to the Source monitor causes my video output to go out of sync. When I put the clips in the timeline, video goes back in sync and I'm able to view video output.  My monitors are connected to a Blackmagic Intensity Shuttle Thunderbolt(9.7.5) via component and HDMI. Is this normal behavior in Premiere or is there a setting to enable this? No issues doing this in FCP7(clips from Project window to Canvas).
Can someone with an I/O from AJA, Matrox, or Blackmagic please test this out for me. Thanks...

How do you have your audio setup? Try the following.
    - Set your OS system sound to Built-in or Line out audio
    - Select Blackmagic for both Video and Audio in Preferences> Playback
    - Select System Default Input/Output from Preferences> Audio Hardware

  • Component video output in FCP HD

Is there a good video card (wether it is a graphics card or a card designed for video) that can support component video output and it would work for FCP? I want to connect my monitor to the computer instead of always having to use my deck (which I use for two different systems). HD or SD.
    thanks,

  • TOSHIBA Video output

We need help with a 2000 toshiba television set.  We were given a 2000 toshiba televison set, as we planned to use it to set up a home security system.. When my son tried to set it up he came across a problem with the video output. On the menu it states 'Video Out Put Blocked'. Under that their is a place for a pin number. We did not have the pin number, so we called the previous owner and asked him about it. He said "I wouldn't know about that, I just  brought it home and plugged it in"
Is their any way to get this video input unblocked without a pin number?  Any suugestions would be appreciated

  • Is Datavideo SE-500 Digital A   V Switcher compatible with mac video outputs

I need to find a video mixer for braodcasting a prerecorded show. I am wondering if this system oututs s-video feed.

Macs do not have s-video outputs.  I'm not sure they ever did (maybe some really old ones did).
All recent Macs have either DVI, miniDisplayPort or Thunderbolt outputs for video.  Apple does not make analog video adapters for any of the more recent Macs that have these video outputs.
Oddly enough, I happened on a thread about an inexpensive converter called the PC-to-EZ that may work (about $50 at Amazon).  Apparently it works quite well.  You will need the Apple miniDisplayPort-VGA adapter also.
Here is a link to the thread I mentioned.  Scroll to page 2, see the long response from user Lougle for details.
I'm curious, if you are purchasing a video mixer, why are you not going with a model that supports digital video inputs?

  • Am I Lame? Video Output Device issues

It's been a while since we've used Final Cut Express, so we're a little rusty. A lot of it is working fine, but for some reason, it cannot connect to the video output device. I even tried reinstalling final cut express with the camera turned on and plugged into the firewire (I read that somewhere), but it made no difference. I searched these forums and found no reference to "video output device" or "cannot connect". So, any help for me out there?
The stats are - Final Cut Express 4, brand new mini DV camera (becoming obsolete, I know), firewire from the Mac to the camera and video out to the TV. FYI - the camera to the TV is fine...and the camera IS set to "play" mode, as opposed to "record" mode.
The error message mentions that it could either be an issue with the camera connection, OR it might be a conflict with the audio input device. Not sure why that would be, but if anyone has any ideas on how to investigate that further, that might be helpful. We do run Logic 8 and have an Echo soundcard installed with 2 1/4 inputs and 2 1/4 inch outputs. (in case anyone cares).
One last thing - I know I'm theoretically not running a good enough processor, but I don't think that's the issue. Logic 8 has the same requirements and runs great, and FCPExpress doesn't seem to be having any issues in terms of processing power.
    Thanks again.
    Kat

Yes, I did have that selected...thanks, though. Now, my audio has suddenly stopped working. No idea why. I have tried restarting the program a couple of times (which helped before, when the audio quit working). But now, that's not helping either. I don't know what heppened - All I did before the audio stopped working, was I shut down the computer and the camera and unplugged it all and replugged it and restarted. I did that to try to help the video playthrough problem (which it didn't help) and now I have no audio. ****, this is frustrating. Sigh.
Just FYI - we decided to unplug the camera from the system, since we couldn't get the video to play through to the TV anyhow. When we did that, the audio started working (just on the computer). I guess the playthrough issue was affecting the audio as well. Sigh. Any help is much appreciated.

  • How connect a 27 cinema display to HP Pavilion with VGA video output

how connect a 27 cinema display to HP Pavilion with VGA video output

If it is a thunderbolt version of the apple 27" display, you don't.  The TB displays can only work with a TB source.
I also think you are out of luck with the mini-displayport versions of the apple 27" as well.   This would imply converting an analog VGA output  to a digital input of the 27".  I suspect that there is not enough data supplied by VGA for that to work and I do not believe any adapters exist for this.

  • TV (video) output from new nano looks very good!

Just a comment for those who may be wondering how the video quality on the new iPod nano looks when output to a TV. I have one of the old iPod AV docks with the s-video port and the new nano seems to work fine with that combination (using a standard s-video cable between the dock and the TV). Thus far I'm really impressed with the video quality, I can't see a single problem, the color is good, the quality and sharpness is as good as I've seen from any iTunes Store content, and as far as I can tell the frame rate is fine (no stuttering, skipped frames, or problems with audio sync). I'm amazed that such high quality video can come from such a small device. If it continues to look this good (after viewing more content and after more testing) then I think Apple may have "hit one out of the park." This thing could turn out to be the most popular iPod yet (if you have any interested in video and still want a small device).

I just found out that the video out (TV) on the new nano supports video playlists so you can create playlists for back-to-back display on the TV. Not even the AppleTV will do that (even though the latter has been a highly requested feature for the AppleTV since day one). In fact, if you can do without the on-TV menus you may find that the nano is a better video output device than is the AppleTV (that is, the menus system on the nano doesn't appear on the TV output).
Also, I just competed a few hours of video playback to my big-screen TV from the nano and I'm still impressed. No video problems at all, looks very good considering the quality limitation from the content that is currently on the iTunes Store (limited to standard definition, no HD movies, HD TV, or HD music videos as yet).

  • My new (2 weeks old) Macbook Pro, wont send video output signal to beamer... What can I do?  I have the adapter to vga but it does not work...

Hi, I have a new MacBook Pro and I dont get video output to a beamer although I have the regular
Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adapter and it works fine with my older MacBook...
Thanks a lot for your tips...

That should work. When you first hook it up it will probably have the display set in Extended Desktop mode. The Menu Bar and Dock will be on the MacBook display and your background screen on the TV but you can move the cursor onto the TV screen.
In SystemPreferences>Display on the MacBook screen there should be an Arrangement tab when you have the MacBook hooked up to the TV and both screens working. When you click the Arrangement tab do you see two monitors side by side? One of them will have a Menu Bar at the top. Just click on the Menu Bar and drag it to the second monitor. That will make the second monitor your main screen. You can now use your MacBook in Clamshell Mode with a wired or Bluetooth keyboard and mouse.  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3131 When you disconnect from the TV your Menu Bar will automatically change back to the MacBook.
Or if you want to work on the MacBook screen while showing it on a TV you can check the Mirror Display box on the lower left hand side of the Arrangement tab under the two monitors box.
If you also want audio you'll need audio cables to the TV using a 3.5mm stereo headphone jack to RCA sound plugs. You attach it from the headphone jack of your MacBook to the appropriate input plugs on your TV http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=min i-dvi&x=9&y=13#/ref=nb_sb_ss_i_2_19?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=macboo k+audio+cable&sprefix=macbook+audio+cable&rh=i%3Aaps%2Ck%3Amacbook+audio+cable

  • Lost S-Video Output

I have been using a G4 Powerbook 17-inch, 1.33 Ghz connected to an NEC VT470 LCD Projector through the S-Video output (Mirroring). It had been working just fine until recently - the s-video output stopped working. The odd part of this is that if I connect through composite video and the s-video to composite adaptor,It works. I have confirmed that the s-video input of the projector works, and i've tried the same thing on a 52" DLP rear-projection TV with the same results - composite video through the composite adaptor but no s-video straight through the s-video output. This makes me wonder if there's just a setting that's been changed or turned off. Another note: the Powerbook will not "detect" the projector when connected through s-video, but it does when using composite through the adaptor. Any ideas?

That does sound like a faulty video card - I just read another post regarding faulty video card - in that case replaced under warraty by Apple.

  • HD video output on TiBook?

Is there any way to get my TiBook 400 MHz (15 inch) to output at HD resolutions? I just bought a new 1080p HDTV, and I can output using S-video to the TV', but then the resolution on the big screen TV looks crappy.
My TiBook also has a VGA port, and I've output to projectors to give presentations many times. . . but there is not VGA input on my HDTV. . . only composite video (ie: non-HD), S-video (same), component (HD), or HDMI.
Is there such a thing as a VGA to HDMI (or component) adapter? And, if I were to use it, would my I be able to get High-def resolutions on my HDTV from my TiBook?
    Thanks.

Hi, dgalvan. No, your old Powerbook doesn't have any digital video output capability, and its 8MB of VRAM can't support 24-bit color at any resolution higher than 1280 x 960 on an external monitor or TV, regardless of how it's connected.
EDIT: However, you do have one of the only PB G4 models whose video can be upgraded with a CardBus add-on. For somewhat more than your Powerbook is worth, you can add a DVI port to it and increase its maximum output resolution to the HD level. I can't help you with any of the details or side issues (notably how to get audio to the TV) because I don't know diddly about HDTV.
