Presario CQ42 battery not working

My laptop Presario CQ42 battery ok and charger is ok but it cannot detect my battery and it is out of warantee,
please help me fine a way
thanks

Well you should have indicated that in the first post. A horse of another color, so to speak. It can be either a bad charging port or a bad motherboard. It is difficult to tell which. The only way to be sure is to replace the charging port which is relatively easy and cheap and if that does not work you know it is the motherboard.
This is the part you would need to replace first:

battery not working for 7 hours.. it working only for 3 hours or 4 hours

I'm sorry, got confused. You're not going to get 7 hours on your battery. Apple says "Up to 7 hours". That means they got 7 hours under optimum circumstances and with certain usage. You need to keep your screen brightness as low as you can live with. Minimum music and video. Check some email, a little office type stuff. Forget games. You might get close but you won't get 7 hours.
In the small print of their adds Apple spells out exactly how much of what they did to get 7 hours.

  • MACbook Pro battery not work

My New Macbook pro i7, during update, black out, when restart, battery not working. connect with AC adapter, Mac auto starting up, and battery not charge, disconnect the AC adapter, Mac cut off.
This just new one, and we do not have store in our country. I bought this from Austrilia store in Brisbane. Please assis me how to reset this matter, as if I need sent back to store may need spend lots of money on the air tikets.

    Hi Meck PNG,
although it seems to be a firmware or software problem (just after you updated), I think it could be a problem with the charger. It could be the connector, did you clean the connector and the Magsafe Power Port (compressed air/ soft brush). If that doesn't solve the problem, visit the apple store, you still are having guarantee (I suppose).

  • Battery not working properly after upgrading to 10.8.5

    Hi guys,
    i have upgraded recently to OS X 10.8.5 and now battery charge is always 0% and battery charging light in green state; system is indicating "replace now" as battery condition;
    the thing is that, before the upgrade, even if battery was not lasting more then 50 minutes (400 and more recharging cycles), it was fine;
    now when I plug the power cable and boot the laptop, it seems is trying 3 times to boot;
I did check and I have the latest SMC firmware; trying to reset it as described in
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
    did not work.
I suppose i have to bring it to the support but anyone with a similar issue?
    Thanks
    G.

    Thanks for your reply;
yes, the update raised is probably picking up that my battery is not anymore in good condition; as it is indicating  "replace now" as condition and Apple documentation states:
Replace Now: The battery is functioning normally but holds significantly less charge than it did when it was new. You can continue to use the battery until you replace it without harming your computer.
Saying "functioning normally but holds significantly less charge", I would expect the battery to keep at least the 50 minutes of charge (as before the upgrade); but now is not re-charging at all (0% always and green light status); and the consequence is that as soon as I unplug the power cable, the laptop will die. So I still believe there was something with the upgrade and the SMC firmware (my mac is a MacBookPro.8.2 early 2011).
    Thanks
    G.

  • Zen Touch: battery not working anym

I have bought my Zen Touch a bit more than a year ago, so I am not covered anymore by the warranty (and apparently I can get any official support from Creative...) Not many serious problems so far, up to a few days ago.
I can only use my Zen Touch when plugged on the power cord. The battery is not responding. When plugged using the cord, I don't have any indication of the battery being charged. When I take out the plug, the player "dies". I tried to connect using the USB cable (and without the power plug) but that did not work (I think that was not working on mine since the beginning anyway.)
So far, I have looked for a similar problem on the forums, reset the player, rebuilt the library... Without any result.
If you have an idea how to solve this problem, that would be nice Otherwise, I will open it to see what the battery looks like...
    Thanks.

    Yep, try a reset.

  • Replacement battery not working properly

    Hello,
I have a G72 Notebook and I just recently bought a replacement battery that is not working properly.
I think that the laptop is just not able to communicate with the battery to find out how much power it has left.
I'm pretty sure that the battery is taking charge just fine (although the icon says, "plugged in, not charging" because I used it for a couple hours today and it never changed from "41%".
Right now it says "0%" but continues to power my computer if I unplug it.
I've tried cleaning the connectors and I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the battery driver.
My old battery still charges just fine and works perfectly it just doesn't last more than an hour or so.
I ordered the replacement battery that it listed on my old battery, but it seems to not snap in quite right.
It fits in my computer, it just isn't as smooth to snap in as my old one is.  As far as I can tell it's exactly the same except I think some of the little plastic parts have slightly different sizes.
    Thanks for any help!

  • IPod Touch 5th gen headphone jack and battery not working properly

Yesterday my iPod touch 5th gen's battery started draning at an incredible rate. Won't last longer then 1 or 2 hours now. And add onto it the headphone jack stopped working properly. It's now only plays in one ear, it's all static over the sound it's supposed to play. I baby my iPod. This all happened out of the blue. What do I do to fix it?

Saraa22 , the same recommendation was given over a year earlier:
Try the following to rule out a software problem
    - Check also Settings > General > Accessibility > Hearing. Make sure that the sound balance is not set all the way to "R".
    - Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    Saraa22 wrote:
If anyone has this same problem with their Ipod touch 5g headphone jack. I found a way to fix it. I did everything of the above but nothing actually worked . But this is what worked!
First reset your Ipod by pressing down the on/off button and the home button at the same time for 10 seconds until you see the apple icon
Then after it turns back on : Go to settings then press on general. Then press on accessibility  and scroll down and make sure MONO AUDIO is on!
This will definitely fix the problem.

  • One year old PC Battery not working

I am using HP Probook 4530s. Manufactured in 2012,bought it last year. The battery life after having been fully charged lasts 3 hours. However, since last week, whenever I remove the Charger from the PC,it shuts down automatically(even though my battery is
    full).
I was advised by someone to remove battery and try to put it back again. No change. The computer is not starting up on its own without the Charger connected to the AC Power. I have also tried testing my battery on a friend's similar PC,its working just fine
without connecting to Power. I have also tried Putting a different, fully charged, working  battery into my PC. Its not starting up.
What could be the problem please.Help

Aside from the MOF forum really not being the right place for this, I'd suggest you'd be better off contacting HP about this since it sounds like an issue with your laptop, eg

  • IPhone 4S battery not working after DIY repairs

I have a three year old 4S that I dropped and shattered the screen. It's already had a new screen and a new battery so I wasn't bothered about replacing the screen myself. After replacing it (and the lock button), the phone was all fine. But then it started to randomly turn off and only power up when it was plugged into the wall. When I did plug it in, the apple logo would come up for a few minutes, then turn black, then the apple logo would come back. After a few hours it would show the charging symbol then come back on with full battery, and it would all be fine. But last week it did it and it's completely stuck on that apple logo mode now. So this led me to think it might be the battery. I ordered a new one (for £12) and it doesn't work, which probably shouldn't be surprising. With this battery, I put it in and it came up with the charging symbol again, but it just cycles through this apple logo symbol to black screen thing again, BUT it does this on battery as well as while charging. My question is: should I spend money on a GOOD new battery, or is the phone completely useless? I don't want to spend a lot to find out it's not going to work. FIY: the phone doesn't show up in iTunes, it is however completely functional with no other broken parts, there was no damage to the battery whatsoever.
    Thanks

    Any tip?
    Thanks in advance!

It may not be of much help to you, but I recently upgraded the original Toshiba 250GB HD in my late 2008 unibody MacBook with a 750GB Western Digital Scorpio Black HD.  After replacing the HD I noticed that when I checked the System Report under Power it showed that the battery had completed 166 cycles and the battery condition was showing as 'Service Battery'.
To the best of my memory I had never seen the Service Battery message before.  In fact, my battery was replaced by Apple about twelve months ago (I believe) as it was one of the faulty batch of batteries that developed 'battery bulge' .  If my memory is correct my Apple Care 3 year contract had already expired by then (I purchased my MacBook in November 2008) but the battery was replaced free of charge because the Serial Number of my MacBook corresponded to those with the defective Sony battery.
Since then I have been careful to follow the advice from Apple regarding maintaining the battery in optimum condition.  I was therefore surprised to see that, after 166 cycles, my battery only retained 72% of its original capacity.  I downloaded CoconutBattery app. to check this.
Yesterday I followed the advice of others on these forums and re-set my system management controller (SMC) and also re-calibrated the battery.
I don't know which of these worked but my battery is now showing 'Normal' and, according to CoconutBattery app it now has 79% charge.
Perhaps it might be worthwhile for you to do as Bimmer 7 series suggests and also re-calibrate your battery - it can't hurt!
    Cheers
    Tricia
