Present movie on Windows from Mac

I am making a QT on my Mac and I applied the applescript so that when it opens it plays in present mode and shuts off later. My question is since I am doing all this on a Mac will the QT do the same thing when played on a Windows machine?
v

The "Presentation" droplets edit the movie playback on both Mac and PC's. This property "travels" with the file.
In version 7 of QuickTime it is now part of the Movie Properties window so no AppleScripts are required.
It allows you to set the "full screen" and automatically play, close or quit the QT Player.

Can I move my iWeb from mac-mini to my new macbook pro ? iLife 11 does not have iWeb and I really want to use it to update my website on my new macbook Pro instead of Mac mini

There is no license required for iWeb.  Just do a Wyodor suggested and you'll be ready to go. If you're running Lion however, consider the following:
In Lion the Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
To open your domain file in Lion or to switch between multiple domain files Cyclosaurus has provided us with the following script that you can make into an Applescript application with Script Editor. Open Script Editor, copy and paste the script below into Script Editor's window and save as an application.
do shell script "/usr/bin/defaults write com.apple.iWeb iWebDefaultsDocumentPath -boolean no"delay 1
    tell application "iWeb" to activate
You can download an already compiled version with this link: iWeb Switch Domain.
Just launch the application, find and select the domain file you want to open and it will open with iWeb. It modifies the iWeb preference file each time it's launched so one can switch between domain files.
WARNING: iWeb Switch Domain will overwrite an existing Domain.sites2 file if you select to create a new domain in the same folder.  So rename your domain files once they've been created to something other than the default name.

  • How do I move my library from Mac to Windows?

I moved my iTunes library to a Windows XP machine and put the library where it's supposed to be. Then I exported the library xml file on my Mac and imported it in Windows. When I open iTunes the library is empty. I tried importing the files into iTunes but iTunes crashes half way through.

First of Justinc4 is an idiot, don't listen to him.
You should be able to move your iTunes Music directory and the two library files to the proper location on the new computer (reguardless if it is Windows or Mac) and when you launch iTunes it should show up.
the other option is to simply open iTunes on the new computer and drag the music folder from the old computer to the Library in iTunes.
It is try that an iPod will have to be reformated, but that is because windows uses a FAT32 format and Mac uses a different drive format.

  • Move existing Windows from PC to Mac

Can you move an existing Windows from a PC to Mac? Will PC games be able to be run?
    What are the concerns?
    Is it worth it? Help

To install Windows with Bootcamp requires a full retail version of Windows. The OEM version that came with your PC would likely not work, and would violate the use license.
PC games will play fine, depending on how demanding the video requirements are, and which system you will run them on. The MacBook, for example, will not handle the newest graphically intensive games as well as a MacBook Pro.

  • Encoding for Premiere in Windows from Mac FCP

    Hi,
I'm a Final Cut Pro user.  I have a client who sent us a drive with the complaint that "they can't read or copy the files" onto their Windows computer with Premiere CS6 installed.  The problem as I see it is twofold:  one, it's a Mac-formatted drive; and two, the files are Quicktime ProRes and XDCam-EX videos.  These came from a third-party shooter, BTW.
I'm trying to find an easy solution that will let me return the drive to the client as something they can plug in and work with.  I figure I'll pull the files off, reformat the drive as NTFS, and dump back.  Here's the thing:  I understand that it's possible to edit in ProRes and in XDCam-EX in Premiere, in Windows...but I have little confidence that the client will be able to figure out how to do it.  I can convert these files  - just need to know what to convert to, to make it easy.  They are 1080i at 29.97 fps.   What's a good format that lets a Premiere user basically plug-and-edit...?  Or am I off-base, and it will be easy for my client to grab and use these files?
    Any help appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Jesse

To easily move HDDs between Windows and Mac, use ExFat instead of NTFS.  It's supported by both OSs and can use large files (unlike FAT32).
Installing the ProRes codec (read only) on Windows is trivial.  Install Quicktime and you are done.  However, lots ofpeople here will pour scorn on using *anything* encoded in a Quicktime wrapper because it's (currently) a 32 bit platform so is perhaps not running as fast as the native 64 bit codecs.
Personally, I use ProRes quite happily on both Windows and Mac.    Another alternative is Avid's DNxHD (free download for both Mac & Windows).

  • Move purchased music from mac to pc

Hi all, not sure whether to post this under iTunes for Mac or iTunes for PC.
I want to move purchased music from a mac to a pc. I've read http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1329 and http://www.ilounge.com/index.php/articles/comments/moving-your-itunes-library-to -a-new-hard-drive/ but I'm still not sure of the best way. I've "authorised" the pc. Some hours of trying to get the mac & pc to connect to one another via lan got nowhere so I'd like to try going via external disk. Do you think I can just copy the iTunes track files to a (fat32) hd then plug that into the pc and somehow copy or import them into iTunes? The pc is brand new afaik w7; the "mac" is actually a bootable (ccc) dump of a mac which isn't working at present, with another mac booted from this. TIA for any advice - Terry.

+Some hours of trying to get the mac & pc to connect to one another via lan got nowhere+
That's too bad, it's uefull to have file sharing set up between the two. It was kind of a pain for me to set up, but I'm glad I got it going in the end.
I finally stumbled on the Mac setting in System Preferences > Network > Advanced > WINS to set the proper workgroup name.
Do you care about ratings, play counts, etc? If so it is a bit more work.
If not, yes, just put the purchases on the exHD while connected to the PC, then connect the exHD to the Mac and add them to your Mac itunes library.
Make sure the itunes preference > Advanced for "Copy files when adding..." is checked, so they will go to the Mac's hard drive.

  • Accede to windows from mac, out of home....

Well!, I need to use some programs from windows in mac, but i don't want to make a partition with boot camp or use parallels desktop, so I decided to install remote desktop. I have a router in my home so i connect the pc and the mac to the same network. When i accede from my house i can connect with the remote desktop and i watch my pc on the mac, but... When i try to accede from the university i just can't do it... Please i need help...

Are you referring to Apple Remote Desktop, Apple's product (which you have to purchase) for managing network Mac systems? Or are you referring to Microsoft's Remote Desktop Connection Client for Mac? If you're referring to Microsoft's product, you probably should take this up in Microsoft's own forum. Most likely you either need to open and forward the port(s) Microsoft's software uses in your router, or your university is blocking the port(s).
If you're indeed using Apple Remote Desktop, you need to install, or have installed, a VNC client on your Windows system. Then, again, you need to have the appropriate port (usually 5900) open and forwarded in your router and it will need to be open in your university's firewall as well.

  • Restart in Windows from Mac OS X

In Windows, in the bottom right of the screen when you first start up, there is a little boot camp icon. When you click it, it gives you the option to restart in Mac OS X. Something like this is needed in Mac OS X, except to offer starting up in Windows. Normally, I would have to click on the Apple in the top left corner of the screen, click "Restart...", then a box shows up offering "Restart" or "Cancel". Here would be the perfect place to offer the option of restarting in Windows. Either that, or something optional in the menu bar (like Time Machine).
My question is: Is there any simple way to restart from Mac OS X into Windows without the minor inconvenience of waiting at the computer while everything closes and shuts down then holding the Option key?
    Message was edited by: Alias7

There is a simple way of doing what you want. Go to: http://www.kainjow.com/ and download Bootchamp.
Blurb from website: BootChamp is a small utility that when launched, will boot your computer into your Windows partition. It requires authentication in order to properly set your Windows partition as the startup disk.
How is this different than selecting your Windows volume from within Startup Disk in System Preferences? Well, using Startup Disk actually changes your startup disk permanently so that each time you restart, it boots into whatever you have selected. Essentially what my program is doing is what happens when you hold down Option at startup and select Windows. However, the app only requires a click to launch and your admin password, and then it restarts your computer into Windows without further input from you. It will not actually change your startup disk.

  • Trying to make .mov audio file from Mac workable on PC

So I took some files off of a Mac that I believe were imported directly from a mini DV tape. The files on the Mac were listed as .mov. Now when i open the drive up containing the files on a PC, they have no extension. I converted the larger file containing the video and managed to make it usable. The smaller file, obviously containing the audio, is proving to be an issue. I tried renaming it .mov and importing into Premiere, but it doesnt work in there. I tried converting it with audio converter programs and it just makes a 0 byte file. If anyone knows how I'd be able to make this usable that'd be great.

I do not have a Mac, so not 100% sure of this... but
On Windows, capturing from miniDV tape creates a SINGLE file of the DV AVI flavor with an AVI file extension
As far as I know, a tape captured via Mac also creates a SINGLE file, containing DV AVI inside a MOV wrapper
If you have 2 files, with video in one and audio in the other, my understanding is that those files are not direct captures from tape... something else was done to the original file to then create 2 files
But, as I said, I don't have a Mac... so maybe someone else who does have a Mac and captures from miniDV will add to this discussion
Back to the Windows side... what version of Quicktime do you have installed?
In general, MOV files will open in PPro-Windows if you have Quicktime installed
As far as no extension... that COULD be a Windows configuration issue, since it is possible to tell Windows to "hide" file extensions
Finally, exactly what is inside that MOV wrapper?

  • HT1391 how to move itunes files  from mac to nonmac computer

I have a macbook pro with 10.9.5 and I want to share some videos that I bought from Itunes with someone who does not have a macintosh computer.  Can I do this?  If yes, How?

The problem is, the other person's computer will have to be authorized to play movies purchased with your account.  If this is somebody else in your home then there are ways to do it with Home Sharing. If you're talking about giving a flash drive with a bunch movies to a friend at work or school, well that's why they have DRM protection on movies.
Oh, iTunes for Windows will play the movies, but it will still have to be authorized to your account.

  • Move iTunes library from Mac to PC

    Hi!
Just because I'm her web developer, my client thinks I know about all things computer. =)
So I will post her question here in hopes that someone can help me out (and thus, help her).
What is the proper way to move an iTunes library from a Mac (OS 10.2.8) to a PC (don't know the model or OS) if you don't have an iPod?
    Thanks!

Transfer all her iTunes files to an external drive.
Make sure you get all her account info for iTunes since you may have to recreate it.
    Now, de-authorize the Mac.
Now download and install iTunes on the Windows Box, set it up with her account info.
Now transfer the iTunes files into the Windows My Music folder.
Play a song and authorize the computer.
    Done.
