Present video and powerpoint side-by-side

I am searching for an easy way to merge a powerpoint presentation and a video clip (of presenter) side-by-side and produce it into one Flash video for streaming on our website. Can it be done in Flash CS4? Or, is there another Adobe program that can do this for me? Or, do I have to look for another vendor to acomplish this, what I thought would be an easy task?

Using Video and Powerpoint Together

I hope someone can help me. I need to be able to create a course where a presenter who has been video taped is showing on the left side of the screen and the powerpoint that they use is displaying on the right side of the screen. I need to be able to sync the video and powerpoint so that they advance together as needed. Can this be done using Captivate 4? If not, do you know of any software that has this capability?

I think there are multiple ways to accomplish what you're trying to do.
1) You could import the .ppt into Captivate and create a .swf of the .ppt. (Make sure each of your slide's timings match the movie before you create the .swf.) Then, you could import both the movie (assuming the movie is an .flv) and the .swf you made into another .cp file.
2) You could also do this in Flash by setting each up as a movie clip, then dragging them to the stage at the same time.
Is your question more about how to sync the timing or how to make it so users can go back and forth between parts of the movie?

Adobe Presenter 7 and PowerPoint 2010. No Import audio from presentation button

In Adobe Presenter 7 and PowerPoint 2007 I have the ability to import existing audio narrations by clicking on Import and then clicking the "Import from presentation" button. The button is missing in PowerPoint 2010. Any ideas on how to get it back?

In PowerPoint 2010; "Import Audio from PowerPoint" is missing .We have logged bug for this. And we will definitely fix this in next release of Presenter. Please use PowerPoint 2007 to use this feature.

ITunes Video and Powerpoint

I know next to nothing about the video encoding in iTunes purchased tv shows. Is there a way to put a video into a powerpoint? I'm thinking a Schoolhouse Rocks video for a presentation at school.

I'm having this problem too.
I recently received a new computer. I did not have this issue with the old computer, but am having issues with the new computer. My video podcasts are out of sync when I replay them. I do not have this issue with watching movies only podcasts.
The video runs slower than the audio. It doesn't matter if the video is in the foreground or the background. I have updated my video drivers, but that hasn't changed anything. It doesn't matter if the replay is in a separate window or the itunes window. I tried increasing the streaming media buffer size – no good. I even reinstalled itunes and it hasn't fixed the problem.
I turned off the itunes sound enhancer. I tried to adjust the sound card’s accelerator (control panel > sounds and audio devices > volume > speaker settings, advanced > performance).
Any help would be appreciated. This is really annoying. I can force the video and audio to sync by pausing the video podcast, but I have to do that every couple minutes.

Adobe Presenter 9 and PowerPoint 2013 - Missing Import Audio from PowerPoint button

I am only able to intermitantly use the Import button in Adobe Presenter 9 to Import Audio from PowerPoint. Why would I be able to do it on some presentations but not all? I thought it was an audio conversion issue but even when I convert the audio (when prompted by PowerPoint) it doesn't always allow me to import it.

I have found a solution if the original PowerPoint was a ppt file, follow these steps:
File > Save As a pptx file
Close PowerPoint (this helps with not corrupting the file)
Re-open the pptx file
File > Convert
Save with a new file name (this helps with not corrupting the file)
You should now have the Import from Presentation button if you go to the Presenter tab and click the Import button
I have not found a solution for pptx files yet.

Graphics Distortion in Presenter 7 and Breeze

I am new to using Breeze, my company uses it. I noticed that the graphics in our .ppt presentations are blurry quite often when we publish the Breeze presentations. We usually insert .gif or .jpg graphics (usually screen shots of applications). I decided to give Presenter 7 and PowerPoint 2007 a try to see if that resolved our issue. It did not.
Does anyone know what we should be doing with static graphics to improve the quality of the graphics (make them crisp instead of blurry) in the final product?

Quick question: are you using any special stylizing/treatment of your graphics in PowerPoint? I ask becuase I've seen instances where using effects like drop shadows, glows, etc, (which are available in PPT 07) actually result in low-quality, often blurry, graphics after publishing to Presenter content.
Same goes for taking screen shots and then applying lines/strokes to those graphic elements; it just introduces more .jpg artifacts rendering the graphics practically useless.
I should also mention that after hours of testing, I've also witnessed grouped objects in PPT look blurry after publishing, so I typically look to ungroup whatever/whenever possible. If that can't be done, then usually it means a trip to Illustrator or Photoshop to manipulate my graphics.
Bottom line, any time specialized treatment is necessary you may have to look outside of PPT to create your graphics; then import as usual and see if that helps any.
In any event, just thought I'd throw that out there.

Show a Video and a Powerpoint presentation

Hello,
On an online course I found this tool where you can have a video on one side of the screen and a powerpoint view on the other one.
When you go from slide to slide on the powepoint the video also changes.
Now I need to do this for my own. Does any of you know on wich tool this is made?
Is it captivate or adobe presenter?

Presentation starts 5" from the left side of screen and pushes intellegence off the screen to the right.

The top of my screen is normal: the tool bar starts "File, Edit...
The body of the screen while running Firefox-and during typing of this message- is full of lite. The actual data: starting from the top of this page- "Firefox Help... Ask a new..." etc. starts 5 1/4 inches from the left of the page.
It's as if Firefox were presenting a wider page with the presentation moved to the right. This pushes the last, normal, 5" of the presentation off the screen.
The rite end of the bar which starts out: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/fx/
is off the page, so the facilities at the rite end are lost.
Any presentation, including Amazon.com and Youtube.com are similarly pushed off the rite side of the screen by 5".
I have no access to the rite-most 5" of any internet presentation.
The sliders that move the presentation up and down and left/ rite are off the screen.
I have shrunk the display down so small, i can barely see the numbers: Control panel\ display \ settings \ 1920 by 1200. This gives the ILLUSION of centering the presentation, but still no sliders. At this setting, i can see the full width of Amazon. Youtube appears centered, with 4 1/4" on both left and rite, but no edge sliders.
I dropped the 'setting' to 1440 x 900.
Lost about 3" off the rite side of Amazon; barely on the rite edge of Youtube.
None of my local programming has a problem: Excel, pictures, videos, Word, even Internet Explorer goes full page and centered.
I un-installed Firefox and downloaded it fresh. It did NOT ask me to reboot my puter, so i didn't .
I can supply pictures (screen shots) of the phenomenon on request.

- Open Firefox -> got to Help Menu -> select "Restart with Add-ons Disabled"
Firefox will close then it will open up with just basic Firefox. You can enable the Add-ons later. Check if its working.

Need to show video and photograph side by side

I have a section of video where a presenter is very animated stretching his face describing a funny candid photograph he did not have. I have both the video and photograph. I want to show both at the same time because the presenter is so animated. Is it possible to show the photograph next to him with Final Cut? I was thinking of something that looks similar to the keynote title. The photograph on the left and the video of the presenter on the right.

It is easy enough.
You can put the photo over the video in the timeline.
Then shrink both with the Transform tool and move them so they are side by side.
It may look better if you leave the video full size and shrink the photo so it appears as Picture In Picture to the side of the presenter.

Try plugging it into a computer with iTunes opened. If you see anything that says restore, say no.
Sometimes these issues resolve themselves when you connect the device to iTunes.
What happens when you hold the home and sleep/wake button? I know it doesn't work, but does it shut off at all?

What is the Output option that you are selecting for the transfer of the Elements Organizer 12/12.1 slideshow to Premiere Elements 12/12.1 Editor?
If you are using Edit with Premiere Elements output option, are you using the Premiere Elements command to break apart the Elements Organizer slideshow and then applying rotation to the portrait files? Or, it is this more than just a photo rotation matter?
More on this in the morning.

If you want a Picture in Picture effect, stack one still on top of the other with a connect edit. Use Transform to scale and reposition the top image.

What version of Premiere Elements are you using and on what computer operating system is it running?
This sounds like a split screen effect to me.
If so, one view on Video 1 and the other directly above that is the other view on Video 2.
Then crop each so that each occupies 1/2 the Edit area monitor screen.
(generalized since I do not know your program version, see effects Transform/Crop).
I wrote the following in 2011 for a Premiere Elements 8 user in another forum
Your basic tools to achieve your goal are Crop Video Effect and Horizontal Flip Video Effect.
Video ONE on video track 1.
Video TWO on video track 2, directly above Video ONE.
Highlight Video ONE on video track 1, Edit Mode/Effects/Video Effects/Transform/Crop, followed by adjusting the crop under Edit Effects (see bottom of Effects Panel) so that Video ONE occupies the left half of the screen.
Do the same for Video TWO on video track 2, Edit Mode/Effects/Video Effects/Transform/Crop etc. so that Video TWO occupies the right half of the screen. BUT end with Edit Mode/Effects/Video Effects/Transform/Horizontal Flip.
Highlight the video on either side to make adjusts in the Properties Palette and appropriate Panel (position, cropping, etc). But, remember that if you make changes in the "flipped" right side of the screen, Edit Effects/Crop Panel right option will be for left and left option will be for right.
You may or may not need the "flip" part of the effect.
Please review and consider. If I have misinterpreted your question, please let me know with details and I will rethink what you seek.

Safari 2 and 3 side-by-side

I'm developing a web-application, that will release in future. So I'm testing it with Safari 3.0.3. When I got to a possible Customer (who had Safari 2) it was not working.
So I need a way to be able to test it in Safari 2 and 3. While at the moment there would be the way to use WebKit, this possibility will drop with release of OS 10.5 (which has Safari 3 installed as default browser). Also it would disable the Safari 3 engine for other applications than WebKit.
I need a way to use the Safari 2 engine in a sandbox (like WebKit does with the beta engine). It is no problem to use different versions of FireFox or Opera side-by-side (except using them at the same time). The only browser i know that has the same problem is IE (and even there it is possible using different versions)

I've managed to make some progress!! In System Preferences > Network I looked at the DNS settings and noticed that the only entry there is my router's IP. Actually, that's how it's always been, and it's always worked fine like that... but just for the heck of it I clicked the "+" and added my ISP's actual DNS servers to the list, then applied the changes, and now I don't seem to be having the issue anymore...so far.
I've also done some testing: I removed the DNS settings and put them back with predictable results: When the new DNS entries are not present it can't access the websites; when I put them back I can access them.
Also relevant: I have two other computers on this network (1 Windows Vista and 1 Windows XP) and both are using the router's default DNS settings without any problems. The router is a 2Wire modem/router combo and the ISP is AT&T in Southern California.
