Presentation cant be opened
1. While working on one of the presentations, my ipad became slow. So I saved the presentation and restarted my IPAD. After the restart when I tried opening the presentation, i got an error message "Presentation cant be opened". I immediately went to icloud and tried downloading the backup file from icloud.
2. I chose keynote format to download the presentation from icloud on my windows desktop
3. I was able to download the presentation zip file
4. I unzip the presentation and got 3 files and 2 directories and index.zip file
5. I tried unzipping index.zip but could not and got a message of corrupt zip file
6. Some how I tried extracting the files from index.zip file and could not extract annotationauthrostorage.iwa . I even got a message from winrar that annotationauthorstorage.iwa file is corrupt.
7. So I think I have all the files except annotationauthorstorage.iwa
8. all the other presentations are working fine
9. I download one of the working presentation in keynote format and copied the annotationauthorstorage.iwa from the working keynote presentation (another presentation) in the above none working unzipped folder (point 6)
10. I created the same directory structure. Zipped it again and uploaded the same on icloud.
11. Once the same got transferred on my ipad, I tried opening the same. I am still getting the same error message "Presentation cant be opened"
12. I checked the directory structure again but I did not see anything else.
13. I am not even whether the annotationauthorstorage.iwa which I have copied from another working presentation is correct for this presentation or not.
14. Can anybody please help me?
15. I did restore my backup from desktop to ipad but it also had the same error.
Please help me in resolving the issue. I called apple and I got an answer from them that, they are not responsible for any data loss. I totally agree with them but I also expect them to help in retrieving the presentation. I am not asking them from retrieving the presentation from 0. I think I have 90+% of the files of the presentation. So if any number of slides can be retrieved from the backed up file I have managed to extract.
Any help would be appreciated. Its very important for me to retrieve the file.

Have you tried to Force Quit the Finder? And if not possible, rebooted your system? Does that bring back the Finder?

If a file has the suffix '.exe', it is very likely a program written for the Microsoft MS-DOS or Microsoft Windows operating systems. The suffix '.exe' is used as a mnemonic for 'executable file'.
Software for one operating system generally don't operate in other operating systems. This is because of fundamental differences in the features and mechanisms available to programs to get them to work.
That isn't to say that you cannot obtain software for the Mac OS X operating system that will permit you to run this software. There are at least 5 different solutions available to users of Macs with Intel-branded processors: Boot Camp, Parallels, VMWare Fusion, CrossOver Mac, and WINE.

When you turn on the computer, you are presented with a menu asking which operating system you want to use -- but you can use only one at a time.
Parallels and VMWare fusion are virtual machines. They are software applications that create a second computer completely within the application into which you can install another operating system like Windows. It has the advantage that it runs in Mac OS X and you can basically use both operating systems at the same time. The cost is a modest performance hit, and the fact that the application necessarily uses quite a bit of memory -- leaving less for other applications. Parallels has a slick feature that hides the Windows desktop, allowing the Windows application to appear just like it were a Mac app.
The free and open source WINE, and it's commercial off-shoot, CrossOver Mac, use a third approach. They provide utilities that will translate between the Windows application's instructions (system calls) and those of the Mac OS X operating system (WINE also works on other UNIX and UNIX-like operating systems). An program run this way is more or less running as a Mac program and performance is exceptionally good. The caveat is that not all of the features and resources of the Windows operating system are equally well developed and some programs will exhibit bugs, and others may not run at all with this method. -

Adobe Presenter failed to open because either it is not licensed or there is an error.. Help!
I have been using registered version of Adobe Presenter ( I have a serial number) for some time. Now I receive the following error message:
"Adobe Presenter failed to open because either it is not licensed or there is an error in the licensing system. Please close and re-launch PowerPoint and enter
serial number to license it. If this problem persists, reinstall this product and try again."
The registration page pops up but just briefly--too fast to click the accept/decline buttons. I have tried deleting the Office and Adobe preference files under User as well as uninstalling/reinstalling but the error message persists making presenter unusable. I also tried to install just a a trial version but also receive the same error message.
System is Win 7. As I said I have been using it for over a year successfully.
What can I do to fix this?

The hardware for recording audio is simple mini-phone plug to mini-phone jack in the back of the computer. The driver is HD compatible (Microphone High Definition Audio Device)
After recording, I am able to replay it, but Powerpoint crashes soonafter, and not predictably.
So far I have added no markers or specified any actions.
Specifically, I have taken enumerable actions-- some of these per suggestions made in this forum (to the letter). Perhaps the most frequent action is to drill into Powerpoint options, and re-enable the Adobe Presenter add-in.
I have been able to apply neither the 7.05 patch nor the 7.06 successfully. Both failed (the error message said it wouldn't apply to this version of Presenter. Again, it's Presenter_WWE.exe).
I can see that you have ramped this up to known bug status. I appreciate that and am sure you'll come up with a rock solid solution.
As I've said earlier, one of Adobe's strengths, for me, is that they understand the needs and idiosyncracies of faculty. Faculty cannot handle geek solutions (like changing registries). After frustration, they will abandon and move on.

i have read up on all about crashes and i cant even open it in safe mode :( i have tried deleting it and reinstalling it but the problem still persists. What would you suggest i do and is there any way i canget hold of firefox 6 for mac?

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.

There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins" in case there are still problems.
If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.

Keynote presentations won't open on my computer.
Keynote '09 presentations won't open on my computer. Over the past few days I was prompted several times to update my keynote app and so I did. Now I can't open any presentations and it tells me to download a newer version. When I get to the mac app store to do so there is no update. Nor my app store does it show any recent updates for keynote or pages, which also prompted me to update over the past two days. Please help me open my keynote presentations!

And excactly on what system? Sounds like the "illegal seek" message on Mac. If so, download again using another browser.

Repairing the permissions of a home folder in Lion is a complicated procedure. I don’t know of a simpler one that always works.
Launch the Terminal application by entering the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. If that doesn’t work, then in the Finder, press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
Drag or copy – do not type – the following line into the Terminal window, then press return:
chmod -R -N ~
You may see a few error messages about an “invalid argument” while the command is running. You can ignore those. If you get an error message with the words “Permission denied,” enter this:
sudo !!
You'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning not to screw up.
Next, boot from your recovery partition by holding down the key combination command-R at startup. Release the keys when you see a gray screen with a spinning dial.
When the recovery desktop appears, select Utilities ▹ Terminal from the menu bar.
In the Terminal window, enter “resetpassword” (without the quotes) and press return. A Reset Password window opens.
Select your boot volume if not already selected.
Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if not already selected.
Under Reset Home Directory Permissions and ACLs, click the Reset button.

Nexus 5548UP Downgrade from 5.1.3.N1.1 to 5.0.3.N2.2b fails -- SRG file not present/cannot be opened
I am attempting to downgrade from 5.1.3.N1.1 to 5.0.3.N2.2b for standards compliance.
When following the ISSU steps for validation of the install all command I receive the following error on the following command:

I am unsure of how to upgrade when the steps to validate indicate a problem with the upgrade/downgrade.

Attached are the steps done so far and outputs.I had already created a case with our reseller. The engineer there had me reload the 5ks and attempt the show install all impact again. When I did it was successful.
I was able to then downgrade to 5.0.3.N2.2b. I am currently working to duplicate the issue by going back to 5.1.3.N1.1.

Need help resolving newly discovered problem wherein all of sudden I can no longer open and display pdf files within IE and but end up with a blank screen [shows blue loading gauge 55.8kb/55.8kb for example doc] unless I down load the pdf file and then open it using Reader XI ver 11.0.2 [Plug-Ins 11.0.01.36] which opens the files just fine. Eventual Error Msg = “There is a problem with Adobe Acrobat/Reader. If it is running, please exit and try attain (103:103)”. Reader Protected Mode: Reader cannot open in Protected Mode due to an incompatibility with you sys config. Etc. “Do not open with Protected Mode disabled” is selected.

Unable to "try" trial version... "Adobe Presenter failed to open because..."
After installing the trial version of Presenter 7, and launching it in PowerPoint (2007)... each time I go to the "Adobe Presenter" tab, in PowerPoint, and try to click on any button (on the toolbar - for example "Help")... I see a dialog flash on the screen - for a brief moment... then it immediately goes away.
Then, if I click on "Help" again (or any other button), I get the following error dialog:
"Adobe Presenter failed to open because either it is not licensed or there is an error in the licensing system. Please close and re-launch PowerPoint and enter serial number to license it. If this problem persists, reinstall this product and try again."
Yeah, it's not licensed (yet) - it's a freshly installed "trial" version.
Does anyone have any tips on how I can get Presenter 7 working so that I can effectively evaluate it - to see if it will meet my needs or not?

First of all we would like to suugest you to follow the steps as mentioned below:
1.Please clear the preferences for microsoft office and Adobe Presenter.
This will delete all the settings that you have done in office suite of products and presenter.
Next time when you lauch office , it will have the default setting enabled.
Delete the "Office" and "Adobe Presenter" folder available at the following locations :
Win XP :
installed drive(C: or D:)\Documents and Settings\UserName(this is your user account)\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Office
installed drive(C: or D:)\Documents and Settings\UserName(this is your user account)\Local Settings\Application Data\Adobe\Adobe Presenter
Win 7:
installed drive(C: or D:)\Users\UserName(this is your user account)\AppData\Local\Adobe\Adobe Presenter
installed drive(C: or D:)\Users\UserName(this is your user account)\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Office
2. Restart the machine
3. Launch Power Point and use presenter. It should work properly.

What "child lock" are you talking about?
Do you mean you set up a Managed account (Parental Controls), or some other software?
For Parental Controls, select the account in Users & Groups and uncheck the "Enable parental controls" checkbox. -

Uninstall the Ask toolbar and it should work again. There is a compatibility issue with the Ask toolbar and Firefox that prevents new tabs from being opened.
There are a couple of places to check for the Ask toolbar:
* Check the Windows Control panel for the Ask Toolbar - http://about.ask.com/apn/toolbar/docs/default/faq/en/ff/index.html#na4
* Also check your list of extensions, you may be able to uninstall it from there - https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Uninstalling+add-ons
