I am using 11.1.5 version and facing issue with presentaion hierarchy. Some times it expands and sometimes it doesnt. I have used level based measure and Rank function in my Report.
Any idea what could be the issue

Even after upgrade to 1162..its behaving in the same manner

Column filter appears in table prompts section but there is only one value to select in a dropdown - top levelparent of hierarchy.
Is there any way to make all hierarchy levels be displayed in prompt?

  • Issue with Presentation Hierarchy in obiee 11g

    Hi Guru's
I am using a presentation hierarchy in obiee 11 g, but it is behaving weirdly when expanding the hierarchy
for example i have a hierarchy for languages when i expand one country in the hierarchy all the countries which has similar childs are getting expanded
    for Example Parent A B C D
    under A i have 1, 2,3,4, under B i have 5,6,7,8 under C i have 9, 10 ,11, 12 under D i have 1, 13, 14, 15
so when i expand A in answers D is also getting expanded as i have 1 as common value in both the parents.
can some please help me how to fix this, as the user does not like this expansion
    Thanks in advance,

That is strange... I downloaded the files from the left hand side of this page:
    [Sample Application site|http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/bi-foundation/obiee-samples-167534.html]
... the title states quiite clearly that the Sample Application (Build 825) applies to OBIEE release 11g.

  • OBIEE 11g: Navigation on Presentation hierarchy

    Hi everyone,
I've got a presentation hierarchy column setup on a parent-child node based hierarchy. It works fine in terms of drilling but the navigation on the column only works at the top level. The drills don't get the click action.
The same is true for the measures themselves. If I have a navigate on a measure, it works at the top level but not at the detail level.
Anyone know if this is a bug or just a "feature"?

Hi, i have the same problem. The hierarchy is correctly mapped, as i can see expandind the values of the hierarchy in tab results>subject area, but when i click on the root of the hierarchy in the report nothing happens. Does anyone knows what is the problem?

    Hi,
Kindly anybody help me to sort out this problem:
I have selected 0YEA_QUA_MON_DAY hierarchy on 0calday.In the query I have included 0calday as free characterstic. In quey execution , first of all it displaying few rows. If I drill down to 0calday level,it does not display any rows. Here the message is ,after drilldown to 0calday level:
The presentation hierarchy 0YEA_QUA_MON_DAY acts as a dynamic filter
    Diagnosis
You have activated presentation hierarchy on characteristic Calendar day. This hierarchy has the attribute that the suppression of 'non assigned' nodes is switched on ( RSH1 -> Hierarchy attributes).
    System response
All data records whose characteristic value Calendar day are arranged in hierarchy are filtered automatically.
This filter is not always displayed.

  • 11g presentation hierarchy - limit of levels?

Do you know of a limit on presentation hierarchy levels that can be displayed in OBIEE 11g analytics?
I faced an drill issue in my project and was able to reproduced it with OBIEE Samples Virtual Box image.
In particular case it's not possible to browse lower levels of hierarchy: [https://picasaweb.google.com/mudlaff.piotr/February132012]

Ok, that's too bad. No way to format individual items, we're talking about thousands of accounts in an account hierarchy. I'll put in an enhancement request for this feature. I guess one related question, is there any way in answers to add a column that returns what level of a hierarchy the given row is at? If I could do that, then I could format the measures conditionally based on that column?
    Thanks,
    Scott

  • Presentation Hierarchy Grand Total Values

    Hi,
    We have the following scenario,
Hierarchy Product A is created for Dimension Product A
Hierarchy Product B is created for Dimention Product B
Fact Product Measures is joined to Store Dimension , Dimension Product A, Dimention Product B and Fiscal Calendar
Dimension Product A contains subset of Products that are existing at Fact
Dimention Product B contains subset of Products that are existing at Fact
and some products can exists both at Dimension Product A and Dimension Product B
The issue we are facing is, when ever report is created using One of the Product Hierarchy and Fact. Product Sales (default aggregation is sum),
the grand total level is showing sum of all Product Sales. It is not limiting to Products that are in Product Hierarchy selected in the report.
But the sub levels are limiting based on selected Product Hierarchy which is causing not matching the roll up amount to grand total.
Is it possible to limit the grand total level value of Presentation Hierarchy based on selected Product Hierarchy.
    Does anyone face similar issue.
    Thanks in Advance

is your summary and detail reports hitting different facts, like summary hitting aggregate and detail report hitting it's corresponding detail level fact..?
    if then,
    From Front-end:
Fix the filter values in detail report that are passing from master report then try delete each columns then check the grand total. If you found your values is matching by deleting particular column then you need to investigate what is the issue around with that dimension table..
    From Database side:
    1. check first aggregate table has proper aggregate data of it's detail..
    2. Take the detail report obiee generated query and try to comment each dimension table and it's corresponding joins to the facts, (before, this delete all the dimensional columns and other measures from select statement and put only that measure where you are getting wrong value, so that you need not to comment all the select and group by columns which saves your time.. ). Need to check by commenting each dimensional wid and it's table from clause, if you found that values is matching then there is some problem with wid columns data population in your ETL.
    Is that BI-Apps project?
    btw, whtz ur name?

  • How to hide a presentation hierarchy in variable popup

    Hi there,
    I've got the following problem:
one infoobject, let's assume 0material, has got several presentation hierarchies; these hierarchies are actually per country, so two hierarchies for Belgium, three for Netherlands, etc; each BEX user is assigned to a country as well; in reporting there's a variable assigned to 0material which allows the selection of a hierarchy; the request is now to hide in the selection screen of the variable the hierarchies which are not belonging to the user?! so a dutch user should see in the variable popup only the dutch hierarchies

  • Combine presentation hierarchy and display hierarchy

    Hi,
We have a query with GL account and cost center in the rows.  We have a custom-built hierarchy on GL account and next to that we want to display our rows as a display hierarchy.  So far so good.
But next we would like to show our GL account hierarchy upside down, meaning with the lower-level nodes above.  This setting however is not working in combination with the display hierarchy.  I guess the solution would be to also mark the display hierarchy as being "upside down", however as far as I know this is not possible.
Anybody has a solution for this?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
1: To add a new char, add the info object as external chars in the Info object maitainance scree --> hierarchy tab. Then go to create hierarcy option. Now it will add you to insert the info object as a node.
2: Here you are mixing the Units in calculation. So you are getting the error as defined in TCODE RSCUSTV4. So as others given the idea, you can use the Data Function in a Formula (NO Dim).

  • Impressive presentation of hierarchy

    Hello,
I need to present BW hierarchy in a very impressive way as the hierarchy is the key component of the report. It should a well structured report with distinct hierachy nodes
Is it possible to replace standard hierarchy  symbols -> with custom ones?
    What are the other option?
Looks like Visual Composer doesnt have any advanced features to present hierarchy (only workaround)

Is it possible to replace standard hierarchy symbols -> with custom ones?
    What are the other option?
    For Web Reporting :
The hierarchy symbols can be found in the MIME repository - execute the Web report and do a view source and you can find the Hierarchy symbols link... but this would make it global and affect all reports which use the hierarchy symbols...

  • Issue with Skip Level Hierarchy in OBIEE 11g

    Hi,
I have implemented Ragged and Skip Level Hierarchy as explained in the links below in OBIEE 11g RPD.
(checked the 'Ragged' and 'Skipped Levels' check boxes)
    http://www.rittmanmead.com/2010/07/obiee-11gr1-support-for-ragged-skip-level-value-based-hierarchies/
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E17904_01/bi.1111/e10540/dimensions.htm#BABFBBFG
When the Presentation Hierarchy is dragged in the OBI Answers, the leaf level beyond the skip (null) levels is not shown in the report.
When any level finds intermediate null values, OBIEE is failing to show the existing value of the leaf level (Most Granular Level) or any values after Skipped Levels.
For example, following is the values in database for different levels of department hierarchy.
    A -> B -> C -> Null -> Null -> F
The OBIEE Presentation Hierarchy can only drill down till C, not beyond that. (does not show the leaf level value 'F').
Could you please suggest whether I am missing any step?
    Thanks.

Hi, My problem is that in my report it is showing me that levels as -- A -> B -> C -> Null -> Null -> F, however I want to show data as A -> B -> C -> F, i.e the null valus(columns) should be skipped. Please help.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Deepak

  • OBIEE 11g best practice - when to use the new "presentation hierarchies"

Hi, maybe a dumb question, but what are the rules of thumb for when to expose a presentation hierarchy to end users. Obviously this must be done when using a parent / child hierarchy, as there is no level info that would allow drilling the "10g" way. However, I'm not so sure what the bonuses / drawbacks are when using level based hierarchies.
I have noticed that the SQL seems more complex and less performant when using the hierarchy. As an example, I have a simple dimension (business unit) that has a hierarchy with a total level, and 3 members in the detail level.
If I create this as a 10g style report, I add business unit column, dollar amounts, and a table total (so I can see grand total amounts), the SQL launched looks like this:
    WITH
    SAWITH0 AS (select sum(1) as c1,
    sum(T45393.SPEND_AMOUNT) as c2,
    T45273.BUSINESS_UNIT_CODE as c3
    from
    DIM_BUSINESS_UNIT T45273,
    FACT_SPEND_ANALYTICS T45393
    where ( T45273.BUSINESS_UNIT_KEY = T45393.BUSINESS_UNIT_KEY )
    group by T45273.BUSINESS_UNIT_CODE)
    select distinct 0 as c1,
    D1.c3 as c2,
    D1.c2 as c3,
    D1.c1 as c4,
    0 as c5,
    0 as c6
    from
    SAWITH0 D1
This is simple and efficient, and OBIEE "knows" the grand total can be calculated by simply summing the business unit totals together.
But if I create this as an 11g style report using the presentation hierarchy, with all members selected (so I can get the detailed business units plus the grand total), the SQL is much less efficient, it actually fires two queries - one for the detail level, another for the total level:
    WITH
    SAWITH0 AS (select distinct sum(1) as c1,
    sum(T45393.SPEND_AMOUNT) as c2
    from
    FACT_SPEND_ANALYTICS T45393)
    select distinct 0 as c1,
    NULL as c2,
    'All Business Units' as c3,
    1 as c4,
    NULL as c5,
    D1.c2 as c6,
    D1.c1 as c7
    from
    SAWITH0 D1
    AND
    WITH
    SAWITH0 AS (select sum(1) as c1,
    sum(T45393.SPEND_AMOUNT) as c2,
    T45273.BUSINESS_UNIT_CODE as c3
    from
    DIM_BUSINESS_UNIT T45273,
    FACT_SPEND_ANALYTICS T45393
    where ( T45273.BUSINESS_UNIT_KEY = T45393.BUSINESS_UNIT_KEY )
    group by T45273.BUSINESS_UNIT_CODE)
    select distinct 1 as c1,
    D1.c3 as c2,
    'All Business Units' as c3,
    1 as c4,
    D1.c3 as c5,
    D1.c2 as c6,
    D1.c1 as c7
    from
    SAWITH0 D1
Not only does this fire off two queries - but it doesn't use the existing cache for the "detail" level generated by the "non-hierarchy" query.
So I'm trying to figure out pros and cons of exposing hierarchies for end users. I've come up with the following:
    Pros:
    - Users can click on the + and - signs to drill / collapse individual members while still keeping all other members on the report
    Cons:
    - Queries fired at all levels, doesn't seem like it's smart enough to figure out it doesn't need to send a level query to database if all children were already queried
    - In 10g if I want to expand all children (i.e. drill down all quarters to the month level) I could just click on the column header. Doesn't appear to be any way to do that using the hierarchical drills, I have to click each and every one to see all the months.
    Any insights would be appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Scott

Hi, no, I haven't tried setting options such as "report based totals" - simply because I wouldn't want an option that requires users to tweak settings on each and every report they create to get stuff working efficiently.
    Thanks,
    Scott

  • OBIEE 11g: Hierarchy Drills & Graph Scales

    Hi eveyrone,
I have a time-series graph with dates along the x-axis and my measure value along the y-axis.
In the "Sections" portion of the graph I have a node based hierarchy.
I have 4 columns in the report.
Presentation hierarchy (node based hierarchy), Hierarchy Dimension column (regular FK link to the hierarchy dimension but not a presentation hierarchy), Date, SUM( Metric by hierarchy dimension column)
In the graph, I create a line scale marker and set it to be based on my one measure column. I also graph my one measure column.
In therory, since I'm graphing the EXACT same column that the scale marker is tied to, they should ALWAYS appear to overlay. And in fact they do at the first level of the hierarchy.
But when I drill into the hierarchy, the measure column changes, but the scale marker does not.
    Why does this happen?
It is the exact same column so they should always be the same value. It's a pretty frustrating bug because as you drill, the scale of the measure changes but the scale of marker does not, so it's basically like you're viewing a flat line because the y-axis is too far off from the actual column measure to see any trend.
    Has anyone seen this?

Thanks for the response, in regards to whether it is 1 or 2 Logical Facts, it is still the same behaviour. IN regards to the Logical Dimension, yes it is set with two LTS with the applicable content levels set. I even tried that as just 1 LTS doing the join through the General tab. Still the same behaviour with the drill-down. I am assuming it will always go through the full drill path regardless of what level the Fact you are hitting is at.
