Presentation Navigation

I'm hopeing someone might be able to help me out. I have my
presentation ready to go, and can navigate backward and forward
from slide to slide, but I can not get the slide that I am jumping
to using my buttons to jump it to the first frame of the previous /
next slide.
I have looked around the forum and found a lot of questions
on this but no answers. Can anyone help please?

Since I do often use Captivate files for a presentation, can offer you some ideas:
Using the playbar will allow you to navigate back/forward if you include a playbar
Using the TOC in overlay is one of my favourites over the playbar: not only can I navigate to whatever slide I want but if well constructed in levels, it also shows the whole presentation structure
Adding custom navigation buttons, if you are on Captivate 6 this is easy with the new shape buttons. Advantage over playbar: you can have a button 'Back to last visited slide'
Using a widget like 'GotoSlide' allows you to have a dropdown list on each slide that has the most important slides listed with a meaningful label and you can navigate that way
If you want a simple click navigation forwards: add a click box (or a transparant shape button) to each slide and configure it to go to the next slide. However, you cannot have two click boxes on top of each other (and it would be confusing as well) so for navigating back you'll need a button then
I often publish to pdf and use the pdf-output for the presentation (going to Full screen view with CTRL-L). If necessary you can get back to the Acrobat reader interface as well, and with a pages or bookmark panel navigation is very easy.

Slide Presentation Navigation Problem

I have a slide presentation that uses Cue points and mp3's
for narration. I have a slide with children that represent my
"bullet points". It seems to sync up fine. However, when all of the
children slides are shown, and the mp3 ends, if I hit the right
arrow, or space bar, the presentation momentarily goes to the next
"Main Slide" and then quickly goes back to my previous slide with
my bullet points and mp3. If I press the right arrow key again, it
will continue to the next slide.

I am trying to build a simple app with home page with a link to a page that has content presenter taskflow. If I navigate to the page with content presenter and click browser back button and then perform any operation, I see the following error :

Are you in 11.1.1.6.0 version or latest patch 11.1.1.6.6? I think that this issue was fixed already in latest version.
Update: Read Bug 13554969 : PRESENTER NAVIGATION BEAN RETURNED NULL from Oracle My Support
One workaround that I applied to a Portal was change navigation from goLinkPrettyUrl to PPR Nav using commandLinks. If you don't have Oracle SES or requirements about must be goLinks you can try this workaround.

Problem with endeca typeahead

I have implemented typeahead feature from endeca, I have lots of dimension and need to implement WildCard enable for some selected dimensions only.
for that i have configure Wildcard enabled for some dimension only but didn't get result proper.
Category > Camera
Brand >Cannon
What i want if i searched Ca* then both dimesion will be display, but not getting.Then i have Configuted Wildcard enabled from Dimension Search Configuration editor
Now i am getting proper result means when i searched Ca* then getting both dimensions.
But i don't want to enabled Wildcard search for all dimension.
Any help will be appreciated.

I am sure you have build your TypeAhead solution by now but am adding this for posterity. TypeAhead can mean different things to different people but in simple/googlesque sense, it is predictive search that anticipates what the user is trying to search before they search the records. With Endeca you can use Dimension Search to search the dimension values of some or all dimensions and present Navigation Refinement shortcuts. TypeAhead search is expected to be superfast as you perform a query after every word that the user types. Dimension Search is typically magnitudes of order faster than record search and works best for this purpose. Make sure that you offer TypeAhead suggestions only after the user has entered a few characters (3 is the norm) and add a dellay of a few milli-seconds between your queries.

Since updating to FF 3.6.12 on my iMac, I have lost all my bookmarks, cannot make new bookmarks and cannot import from a saved bookmarks.html file, even after re-installing the program.

Running under mac OS X 10.5.8
Menu bar is present
Torbutton extension not present
Navigation buttons did not work, until I re-isntalled FF
FF "unable to restore backup file "- applies to all bookmark backup files
I next tried importing the bookmarks.html file I created last year to export them to my new notebook. 3.6.12 fails to import them back again.
The home page set in my preferences does not now come up when I load FF.

A possible cause is a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

What's in a Captivate 3 Template?

Our team created a template in Captivate 3. Our intention was
that Helvetica would be the default font for recording. When some
of my colleagues opened the template Helvetica is the default font,
when I open and record Arial is the default font even though I have
Helvetica properly installed in my fonts folder.
I tried an experiment. My intent was to transfer my knowledge
from my experiment to the problem at hand. So bear with me. This
approach to problem solving is a bit convoluted.
I set Arial Baltic as my default font in Captivate
Preferences. I then attempted to record. Bizarrely Arial not Arial
Baltic was resulting font. When I clicked on the font to look at it
after recording Arial Baltic wasn’t there, no indeed it was
Arial – just plain Arial. Now mind you I had gone into
Preferences and set Arial Baltic as the recording font for the
project. And I went back into Captivate Preferences Recording and
looked there it was staring me in the face - Arial Baltic –
the default font.
I performed this little experiment because I wondered about
font substitution and what might be happening with that. I
suspected that Captivate 3 performs font substitution when it
cannot find a matching font. But then I wondered why Arial Baltic
was available at all if Captivate if one could not record using
Arial Baltic. I thought the same logic would transfer to my
Helvetica problem.
I went into Preferences Recording Default and changed all the
fonts to Helvetica. Magically the Captivate template would record
in Helvetica. But then I wondered why have a template at all if you
couldn’t make the fonts specific to your project by using the
template. What I found astounding is that if you go into the
Recording preferences the Preferences actually appear to be
non-specific to the template – they appear in fact to be
Adobe Captivate 3’s preferences, not preferences specific to
the project – even thought “Project” is the
section of the preferences you are taken to and fill in.
What gives? Any ideas?:frown;

I'm going to answer for Captivate 3 here. Captivate 4 brings new functionality with Templates.
Basically any project may become a template. You simply click File > Save As and save the project as a template. The primary objective of using a template is consistency. For example, let's say you wish to record a series of Captivate videos showing the user how to do different things using Windows Notepad. Beforehand, you know you are going to create several movies. You also know that you would like to have a standard look and feel to them. Perhaps you always start off with a specific title slide to announce what the movie is about. Perhaps you also always have a second slide that presents navigation instructions. And, of course you always want a conclusion and closing slide. Maybe you have a specific Skin that uses a specific playback control. You also don't wish to use a Preloader and you want to change how the movie starts and ends.
All of this may be configured in a Template. You then use the Template when you create new projects. The dimensions are pre-determined by the template. You record your actions and just sort of "fill in" the middle of the Template.
Note that one of the issues cited in the original post (OP) was a certain expectation that by setting the Caption styles and fonts in the template, you are setting them for the recording process. But if you read it carefully, the OP reveals that this isn't the case. During the recording process what ends up in the project is the choice made for your individual installation of Captivate.
As many folks seem to expect the Template to also govern the captions used when recording a Demonstration, it would make sense to see that built into the product. So please take a moment to suggest it to the Development Team using the Wish Form. (Link is in my sig line)

Quicktime streaming download question

I'm developing a website featuring FREE exclusive movie presentations. The problem is, although I've been trying different export options in creating the streaming Quicktime content (.mov files), the rollover buttons on the webpage still won't function until the entire streaming movie has finished downloading.
Any solution or suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

After 10 forums and over a week of trying different suggestions, I still have not solved the issue with the present navigation system and it's relation to the QT movies.
I'm now converting some QT files into Flash FLV files. So far the pages I've converted do not exhibit these problems and many people have reported suddenly being able to see the videos whereas before they could not. For example see this page:

When encoded properly, a flv file can compare to the quicktime format in quality while decreasing it's size by about 50% and the JS used to access the file for the webpage seems to handle the caching of the page data differently than the Quicktime embed tag so that the buttons work fine as the flv downloads, which of course is a solution to my original problem.
Although Quicktime is my favorite web video media, for internet delivery without a streaming server it would seem the Flash FLV is the smarter choice right now.

Quicktime streaming question

I am setting up quicktime streaming on my server I can access this from inside my firewall. But I cannot access it from outside the firewall. Does anyone have any suggestions.

Rehearsing view the presentation in navigator view so I can adjust timing

I want to step through the presentation one slide at a time Can I use the rehearse command and have the slide inspector up or navigator view. I have a presentation that I am trying to edit the length of transitions and builds.

OBIEE 11g: Navigation on Presentation hierarchy

Hi everyone,
I've got a presentation hierarchy column setup on a parent-child node based hierarchy. It works fine in terms of drilling but the navigation on the column only works at the top level. The drills don't get the click action.
The same is true for the measures themselves. If I have a navigate on a measure, it works at the top level but not at the detail level.
Anyone know if this is a bug or just a "feature"?

Hi, i have the same problem. The hierarchy is correctly mapped, as i can see expandind the values of the hierarchy in tab results>subject area, but when i click on the root of the hierarchy in the report nothing happens. Does anyone knows what is the problem?

Adobe Presenter 9 navigation to webpage was canceled when click email hyperlink

Windows 7, IE 10, Adobe Presenter 9
I have an email hyperlink created in PPT/Presenter that works fine within PPT. However, when I publish the course to My Documents and view the presentation, once I click the email hyperlink, it opens an email but opens an additional window..."Navigation to webpage canceled". It reacts this same way when published to our LMS. The user will need to close the extra window, which may cause confusion. Our IT department has looked at my IE security settings and I have set my flash security settings to "allow" for My Documents folder. I went back to a similar course I created a couple of years ago, but I do not receive this message when I click the hyperlink. I was using an older version of Presenter at that time.
Has anyone experienced this same issue and had a resolution?

Could you perform the followings:
Make sure there're no duplicate records in the DNS Servers
Flush your DNS Cache at the Server & Client
Refresh any DNS Cache at the HLB (if any)
When the error appears, right click on the console and provide a screenshot on this
If you suspect that FE1 is the culprit, had you tried turning it off and monitor the situation?

My new birthday present (i-phone 4s) does not sync with my 2011 CRV navigation..is there any way the service tech at Honda can set this up for hands free usage? It is very frustrating to not be able to use this phone like my cheaper old phone.

My new birthday present of an i-phone 4s, can not be synced with the navigation of my 2011 Honda CRV. Can anyone give us hints on what to do, as the Honda dealership can not enable the phone to work with hands free. Help, this is very frustrating as the old cheap phone,worked perfect. Apple did not make this a user friendly product for cars.
