Presentation on macbook air to TV

Can any help, I need to setup sending my presentation on my macbook air to a wall mounted TV.
Is there a simple solution......

I Thank you are right, last weekend under 6,1 preparing a presentation I had to do a lot of work finding how to set the resolution of the projector, that only was necessary If I want to use my laptop as a presenters notes.... Duplication no problem.
Once I set the resolution for the projector , everything was fine .

  • How can I make sure fonts in a Keynote presentation developed on iMac will show/match when transferring the presentation to MacBook Air?

It would seem (to me) this should not be an issue, but I have an iMac and MacBook Air with the identical version of OS (10.7.4) and Keynote ('09 5.1.1).  Yet, the fonts don't match.  Fonts I would regularly use when developing the presentation on the iMac do not transfer (create "Review" errors) to the Air.  How can I fix it so that all the fonts on iMac show on Air?

If I am understanding your question correctly what you are wanting to achieve is not possible. You can't run the same keynote presentation on both devices at the same time. Also, why would you want to use the small screen size of the iPhone as your display instead of the iPad? If it is just to see your presenter notes then print them out and use the iPhone as your remote.
Perhaps more info is needed so i fully understand your issue.

  • MacBook Air 1080p not smooth

    Hi.
The MacBook Air I'm using is the 2010 July model. And when I play big 1080p video files, the video starts to not catch up with the audio after about 10 minutes.
What would be the cause of this? Initially I thought it's because I play it from an external drive, and maybe the USB2 wire is not fast enough. But then I play the file directly from the local drive, the problem is still present. MacBook Air comes with SSD, and I've tested them using bechmark software, all indicate my drives are fine. I have a friend that uses MacBook Pro with better CPU and better graphics card and he runs 1080p files smoothly throughout. Could that be the problem, that is, MacBook Airs are designed to be incapable of playing heavy video files?
    Thank you.

    Got it shutdown.

  • How do I put an external display to sleep when I am using my MacBook Air for presentation?

How do I put an external display to sleep when I am using my MacBook Air for presentation? I do not want to go to the projector just to turn it off and turn on again after a while? Is there a keyboard shortcut for that?

I want to be able to sleep the external display and at the same time do things in the MacBook.( This feature is useful for me so that I can prepare some things and so that my audience will not see what I am about to show them.)
Is there a feature for Mountain Lion?

One of these should work, depending on the projector. Just note both will not allow you to play protected movies on the projector.

  • Hi I would like to show a presentation written on my macbook air on my television what is the best way to connect the two ?

Hi I would like to show a presentation written on my macbook air on my television what is the best way to connect the two ?

Much depends on the available connectivity  of your television.
If it has HDMI input available, all you will need is a minidisplayport to HDMI adapter, and an HDMI cable long enough to place the Mac in the desired proximity to the TV. The adapter is avaialble from the Apple Store online.
Provided the HDMI input on the television supports sound, and the model of your MBA supports it as well, make suree that your adapter is also supportive of sound, otherwise you will need to run separate cabling from the headphone jack of the MBA to TV sound input or external speakers.
This is a somewhat specific answer to a question without any requisite detail. You don't indicate the model or type of inputs on your TV, nor do you indicate the model/generation of MBA you have.

Since you posted in the Thunderbolt Display Community, I am guessing you are attempting to connect a MacBook Air to a Thunderbolt Display, but since you tagged projector, it makes me doubt my assumption. Can you provide some more details on what you are trying to connecto your MacBook Air to?

  • Which is the best and least expensive projector to show powerpoint presentation from a MacBook Air?

I would like to know the best and least expensive projector to use with MacBook Air to dispaly a powerpoint presentation.

Do you mean a external cd/dvd drive that connects by usb port? If you do then any brand will work. It does not have to be a apple brand for it to work on your mac. Most go for around $30 in the usa.
I use a asus brand that cost me just under $30. Works on any computer it is connect to.

  • Macbook Air Mavericks cannot play video in ANY presentation application

Long ago, last year to be exact, I had a Macbook Pro 2009, with Open Office and MS Office older versions installed. They played embedded videos in both Impress and Powerpoint PERFECTLY.
This year I bought a Macbook Air and installed Open Office 4.1.0 and MS Office 2011. Now I cannot play any of the videos in these presentations.
I attempted to make new presentations and re-embed the videos. They play in Powerpoint fine ONCE, then not again. They do not embed at all in Open Office. The videos are all MP4 files.
This does not appear to be either a Microsoft or Open Office issue. To me this is clearly because of my upgrades. This is extremely frustrating, as I am a college professor and need to be able to use these programs without a problem. I also use presentations in my creative work.
Each time I find one more thing that I can no longer do with my new machine, I love Apple a little less. I hope someone can help.

I don't understand what your point is. If I have 15 minutes to edit the post, then I should have been able to edit the post 1 minute after posting it.
It is now 24 hours later - long past 15 minutes.

  • I just ordered a macbook air today and need to know if the 128gb SSD is enough space. I presently have a macbook pro and am using only 30gb hard drive space so, the apple rep said 128 is enough as I do not load much pictures or gaming etc. Also is i5 ok.

Id choose the I5 yes, depends on what your usage is going to be,
....your question about "128 gig being enough" begs the question for IDEALIZED USE of your macbook AIr
In the case of a Macbook Air with ‘limited’ storage on the SSD, this distinction becomes more important in that in an ever rapidly increasing file-size world, you keep vital large media files, pics, video, PDF collections, music off your SSD and archived on external storage, for sake of the necessary room for your system to have free space to operate, store future applications and general workspace.  You should never be put in the position of considering “deleting things” on your macbook SSD in order to ‘make space’.
*Generally, unless you NEED the data at least once every few weeks or once a month,...it really does'nt NEED to be on the SSD of your Macbook Air.
Professionals who create and import very large amounts of data have almost no change in the available space on their computers internal HD because they are constantly archiving data to arrays of external or networked HD.
Or in the case of the consumer this means you keep folders for large imported or created data and you ritually offload and archive this data for safekeeping, not only to safeguard the data in case your macbook has a HD crash, or gets stolen, but importantly in keeping the ‘breathing room’ open for your computer to operate, expand, create files, add applications, for your APPS to create temp files, and for general operation.
Ive got more APPS than any human should have on my 128gig AIR,..(50 or so),....and 10gig of working data, important files etc etc.
Still have 82gig available....... the entire point is that someone shouldnt consider the Air a "storage device" for tons of pics, music, vids, etc.
*Never consider any computer a data storage device at any time under any circumstance, rather a data creation, sending, and manipulation device. Anyone who thinks data is safe on any computer, even copied upon multiple partitions is making a mistake that will, without fail, strike.
For needs of packing around a LOT of "big data" with your Air in its case..., get a nice 1TB HD for $70, or even a 2TB drive not much bigger.
Perfect 2TB HD, very slim, the "little giant"   made by Toshiba (have several of these) $119

Your MacBook is using the big screen as the Presenter Display, and the MacBook Air display as the Show display. Tap the 'x' key to swap them during the show.
Here is more information about using the Presenter Display.

  • The storage/removal of files from my MacBook Air as they pertain to a Keynote Presentation

A question about the storage/removal of files from my MacBook Air as they pertain to a Keynote Presentation.
I have a rather sizeable Keynote (about 7GB) since it has several QT Movies embedded.  And the key word is embedded:  if I was to remove the “original” QT files and other large graphics off the HD (in an effort to regain some space on the 250GB onboard flash drive) and in Keynote Preferences I have checked “copy audio and movies into document” then the Keynote presentation remains intact and does NOT need any of those QT files living on the MBAir itself.  I could keep them on a separate dedicated FW drive for future inclusion and/or editing.
That is – the Keynote presentation will stand as its own complete file and does not need to reference those files sitting on the HD in order to work as they have been copied into the Keynote presentation itself (and hence their propagation is what is also accounting for the disc space concern).
I am concerned that if I remove the files then the slides that do require QT won’t be able to “find” the files…..but I am working under the assumption that the above steps have ensured that they are integrated into the actual presentation file and do not need to “find” them on the HD.  Make sense?
    Thanks
    Theo

Great!  Thanks so much for the quick reply, Gary  Much appreciated.

  • I recently purchased a MacBook Air and was told by Apple that Keynote and Pages were compatible with MS Applications.. I have since tried to open a Powerpoint Presentation but it comes up with an error message and is not right. Help!

I recently purchased a MacBook Air and was told by Apple that Keynote and Pages were compatible with MS Applications.. I have since tried to open a Powerpoint Presentation but it comes up with an error message and is not right. Help!

If there are fonts, transitions, builds, video or audio in the PowerPoint file that are not compatible with Keynote, it will either prevent the presentation opening or Keynote will substitute the settings causing playback changes.
I use Open Office to play and open any PowerPoint files sent to me, they play exactly as in PowerPoint.
Open Office is free, you can download it here:

Yes your MBA is up to date as far as Lion is concerned... But Keynote requires you Upgrade to Mavericks
