Presentation Printer Advice

I am looking for a decent printer to print mostly graphical presentations and occasion decent quality photos from Adobe CS5 Design Suite and Microsoft products. We are a construction company and we print project proposals (usually 8 copies, 20-40 pages), but because they are always completed at the last minute before they are due we rarely have time to send them to the printers. Our high end marketing material is printed by a 3rd party so that is not a consideration. I currently use our Savin C4040 office color laser printer but it does not print borderless and the quality is not great on the photos in the presentations. Also once the printer gets hot (100+ pages with intense color) the prints will get splotchy and flake in areas.
Budget: $500 - $2000
Size: 8x11 should be fine
Borderless: Yes
Double Sided: would be nice but not required if budget does not allow
Network: needs to be ethernet networkable to reside on our domain and a shared printer
Bypass Tray: I would like if it has a straight through bypass tray able to accept heavy weight paper for covers and back pages, presentations are usually bound with a spiral coil

Thanks for the information. =>

  • Color Laser Printer - advice for student - compatible with Airport Express!

    Hi there!
In September my studies will start hier in Germany. I'm now looking for an Color Laser Printer as a birthday gift from my parents. For me the compatibility with my Airport Express is very important. The printing costs should be low, i prefer to spend more money on the printer once. I think a price between 400 and 600 Euros should be ok.
Could you give me some advices or tell me your experiences?
Sorry for my english, i know it's not the best;-)
    Greetings from Germany!
    Mark

A very helpful guide as to which printers work with the airport express is here:
    http://www.ifelix.co.uk/tech/8013.html
If it works on the quoted airport extreme, you should be good with the airport express
Hope that helps and good luck.

  • Presentation Help/Advice

I am building a page that is going to show pictures/artwork of  artist/photographers. It will be like a photo gallery but I want the  pictures easily viewable and to have the Artist information easily  accessible to the viewer. The information will be The Artist Name,  Artist Website or Email, and a button to buy the Artwork/Photo. I would like to group the photos  by month.
What I need advice on is a good way to present this clearly. I am hitting a wall and welcome fresh ideas to help me.
If you have examples of how this has been done on a site you created I would love to seem them.
Thanks in advance for any and all advice. =>

  • Printing advice please

What is the best printer to use with Aperture?
I am not satified with the color of the pictures I print using my HP 310 series printer.  The saturation, hue etc is not nearly as good as it is on the computer screen.  I have sufficient ink, good quality paper etc.
I think the printer is deciding on the colors, not aperture, and I am not sure how to correct this problem.
I appreciate any advice you can give.
    Thanks in advance

Getting the print to look like the image on the display is very labor intensive. For an idea of what is needed see Calibrating Your Aperture System in the Aperture manual.
To answer you specific question concerning color management between Aperture and the printer you will need to look in two places.
First when you print in Aperture you will see this dialog:
(if you don;t see it click the More Options button at the bottom of the print dialog)
You will want to make sure Printer Managed is not selected. Now for most printer drivers  that is sufficient to turn off color management in the printer but you will want to check.
Once you select Print in Aperture the printer dialog will open.
    Select Color Matching
Then make sure then radio buttons are grayed out.
Again this is the way a majority of printers work. Your printer may be be different in which case you will need to consult the manufacturers information concerning turning off color management.

  • Export settings and printing advice for A0 sized poster

    hi all.
i have an A0 sized poster (33" x 46") that i am sending off in the mail and while i have notes here somewhere on correct settings at 24 x 36 i was just hoping to get a second opinion on this. the poster will be at an architecture/design conference and i'd like to retain as much detail as possible.
i will be printing at some US printing shop and i'd also love recommendations on what type of paper or other suggestions on media.
    THANK YOU for any advice.
    Jon

OK, two posters is definitely an inkjet job.
There is no need to export anything to jpeg, unless you are referring to compression of images during the Export to PDF. I mean, as far as effective resolution, the resolution of any raster images you've placed onto the poster. You can read that (ignore the Actual PPI number, you only care about Effective PPI) in either the Info panel with the image selected, or in the Links panel under the link info. Vectors and type don't get rasterized under normal circumstances and scale without degradation in the layout. In the export settings you can set images to downsample to as low as 150 ppi for inkjet work and get satisfactory results, but if you can keep it at 200 ppi or higher and still have a file of managable size I would.
Previewing in ID is iffy. Check the PDF.

  • PDF presentation printing in handout form, 4-6 slides per page.

I have a 40 page PDF that was created in PPT. I need to print it in handout form, 4-6 per page. How do I do that?

It is easier to go back to the PPT and create handouts from there by printing to the Adobe PDF printer. You can print the current PDF to a new PDF with the selection of multi-up in the printer properties.

  • High quality printing advice- giclee or inkjet

    hi,
I am new to the forum, thanks in advance for any input.
by training I'm a textile designer, so I have very little experience with the ins and outs of printing.
I was commissioned to do a project for a couple who are getting married. It's a decorative marriage license written in Hebrew, that needs to be archival as these things are family heirlooms.
the art work is gauche and ink which is scanned and formatted with the Hebrew text in photoshop, then printed on 140 lb. hot press rag paper
I have been planing on doing a giclee print because its archival and i had also heard from people that the print really looks like paint...(extremely important) i do not want this to look like it came from a computer.
i asked a friend about giclees recently and her opinion was that rather than do a giclee i should go to a great shop and have the print done on inkjet.
she is a professional photographer, so we want opposite effects from our prints. is there anyone out there who has experience with this?
will the inkjet printer give me the effect of looking like paint, or a handwritten document?
    thanks!
    nina

    thanks neil,
    that is a lovely example.
this is actually the third ketubah i have done. I've looked at many examples and studied Jewish illuminated manuscripts including ketubot while i was in school.
i don't do calligraphy and having the text done by a scribe is far too expensive, so for the first two i had the text silkscreened and did the painting afterwards... these had the same text (conservative) so i was able to use copies from that printing for both.
hand painting something like that is extremely time consuming not to mention nerve wracking. i'm not getting paid nearly enough for this project as it is, let alone to hand paint the document (the client is kind of a tacky nightmare, i don't think i'd mind so much if i didn't think they had such god awful taste)! however, there are post print hand touches.
modern ketubot(?) are in hebrew, even orthodox texts. there is a large online market for these and if you do a search there are three major sites selling artist's designs almost entirely reproduced in giclee prints. very few people still use lithographs. and most people can not afford to pay for or do not have access to someone who can do the calligraphy and illumination.
if you are interested my favorite of these by far is :
    www.ketubah.com
what can you do-- i would love to do a project for someone where they were willing to pay for that kind of work, i know a scribe and we spoke about doing a project together but i would have to pay out 350 to her for the text alone. the design process, consultations and painting can be 100 hours depending on size and detail. i am slow-- however i wouldn't want less than a thousand dollars for myself.
uhm. that went a bit off topic, but there you have it.
i found a printer, he's lovely it's just him, he's using papers i worked with in school on our large format printer that i had great results with...totally knows what he's doing.

  • Print dialog options missing on networked print- advice?

    Hi everyone,
I am using a small LAN network of three macs. When I try and print to a printer that is plugged into another mac I am missing options from the OS print dialog that appear when the printer is plugged in directly. The items missing are from the drop down box that defaults to "layout"
    missing are:
    print settings
    expansion
    extension collections
    paper configuration
    roll paper options
or simply have a visual reference
here is a screen grab where the printer is directly plugged in http://tinypic.com/r/p7lud/5
here is a screen grab for an attempt to print to the networked printer
    http://tinypic.com/r/fkwu43/5
other mac g5 running 10.4.11. Ethernet network.
    Any help greatfully recieved!

    hey grant,
thanks for your response. in answer to your question it is the epson r2400. If i plug the printer into my mac i get the full dialog, as I would when i print on the g5 (where it is normally plugged in). This would suggest that there are correct drivers on both macs for printing directly.
On my mac in the print dialog i can select two "different" printers
    Epson Stylus Photo R2400
    or
    Epson Stylus Photo (g5) @ studio g5
(think the last bit (studio g5) is correct am not in front of that mac right now)
The first one only works when the printer is directly plugged in, the second one only when networked, and then doesn't give the full options, as aper the subject line.
    cheers

  • Expert printing advice needed!

OK - Color Management sucks -
    I have a calibrated monitor with D65, Gamma 2.2.
I use Solex Task lamp to review/proof prints.
I print on a HP B9180 from LR v1.1 on OSX.
I have produced excellent prints on occasions and it looks great on a few select papers i tried and like - Somerset Velvet, HP Hahnemuhle Fine Art Satin, HP Advanced Glossy etc.
The problem seems to be this image -
    http://bighugelabs.com/flickr/onblack.php?id=761745042&size=large&posted=1
If i use LR and print on any of the matt/photo rag papers, it comes out like crap. I think the reason may be due to the paper gamut not sufficient to handle the color space (Application Managed with specific profile selected)
If i use the Glossy - the colors are off - the prints come out dark (same LR settings as before)
If i use Colorsync and/or Preview application to print in AdobeRGB color profile (from print settings) - the image prints SPOT on! - this however is not usable due to borders etc...
Can anyone help me figure out what the problem may be? Why doesn't LR print right here...(Yes, i even tried selecting AdobeRGB in the print settings on LR...it still doesn't get it right).

looks like everybody is on the same boat :)

  • Printer advice needed

I am about to upgrade to iPhoto 6.
I have been using a Canon i850 which initially produced some great photos. However, recently it has started to create lines across the width (the direction that the print heads move) of the prints. The effect it to make the print look as though it's printed on laid paper.
I have always used Canon paper and ink. Cleaning the print heads and realigning has not made a difference. I can only think that the printer's mechanism that moves the paper through the machine is slightly faulty and therefore needs to be replaced. Not a major deal - the printer is over 3 years old and wasn't too expensive.
Which leads me to my question:
Just which printer would you folk recommend? They seem so cheap these days that I find it hard to understand how a printer for approx £150 can produce such good results, even though I know they can! Of course the manufacturers get more money off you when you buy your inks (I wouldn't use generic inks for photos).
I like Canon as Apple seems to like them, but historically I have found it more difficult to find shops that stock a decent selection of Canon paper. Happy to search oout the paper if a Canon printer is the way forward though. Oh, and ideally I'd like to be able to print onto CDs/DVDs. Supposedly I shouldn't have to pay more than £100-£150.
    Many thanks in advance

    TWH3:
I got an Epson R200 for printing on CD/DVDs and couldn't be happier. It also put out better photos than my Canon i850. I understand Canon makes a printer available in Europe that will print CD/DVDs. I don't think you can go wrong eith either a Canon or Epson with the CD/DVD capabilities. The Epson printer with R in the model designation are those that will print on disks. Also I'd recommend picking one with 5 or 6 ink cartridges over those with just 3 color and black.
    Do you Twango?

  • Printer Advice

Hello im new to using Aperture. I have coming up a function to photograph where Im printing photos on site for people to buy and take away.
I have run some tests from Aperture using my current printer which is about 5 years old now. An HP PSC 1315. Im finding that the colours in Aperture are not being reproduced on print. They seem washed out and darker.
Can anyone recommend a better printer to use... or what resolution printer I should be looking at.. Id like the ability to be able to print DVDs on it as well.. or maybe its my print settings?
    Im using Aperture 2.1.4

The life cycle of printers these days is fairly short. I'd say after 5 years it's a good idea to replace your printer, if for no other reason than the printers them selves are just a bit more expensive than buying new ink. I love conservation, but I've spent way too much time hopelessly tinkering with old printers, and a new one seems to work everytime.
I like Canon printers. But anything from Epson, HP or Canon is going to be super for on the spot printing. The more ink colors the better. Canon has great detail. HP cheaper ink. Epson longer life. Look for speed if you're having people waiting to buy prints.

  • APEX printing advice

I have some complex reporting that was previously done in Oracle Reports. I had tried the Report Query/Report Layout method in APEX, but it does not seem to have enough flexibility that the Data Template from BI would have.
I have seen some entries about integrating BI with APEX thru Web Service. Not sure if this is where I should be looking or not. I have all of my report parameters on my APEX page. I would need to pass them to BI (without the need for BI logins created etc.). Anybody did something like this?

    Hello,
The following resources should help to determine if you are on the right track:

    Hope this helps,

  • Printing payment advice in F110

    Hi all,
I configured F110 in such a way that NO payment medium is created, so what it does now is that it selects my vendor line items and automatically clears them. For all cleared vendors I want to generate a payment advice. Again, without the need for a payment medium to be created.
    What I have already done:
    - In OBVU (payment methods in cpy code)  I set "Always pyt advice"
    - In OBVCU (payment method by country) I left the payment medium program (RFFO*) EMPTY
    - In OBVU (payming cpy codes) I entered my payment advice form
When I run F110 it works fine including the clearing, but NO payment advices are generated. When I execute RFFOAVIS it say "no record selected".
    My questions:
    1) It is generally possible to use F110 WITHOUT generating a payment medium/using an RFFOxxxx program and print an advice ONLY?
    2) The description of RFFOAVIS is that it prints advices for accounts with a 0 BALANCE, is this the correct program at all for printing "nomal" payment advices?
    3) Anyone an idea why else no advices are generated?
    Thanks!
    Rene

    Hi,
Yes, it is possible to send payment advices notes with payment media program with out payment media.
In payment method for country you have to assign payment media program. Payment advice form should be assigned for your paying company code in FBZP.
In report variant for your payment media program under print control Select u2018print payment advice notesu2019 only.
    Thanks!

  • Photosmart D7160 connected to desktop with Windows XP, issues with new laptop & network printing

We have a Photosmart D7160 connected to our desktop that runs Windows XP. I just got a new Acer laptop that runs Windows 7 (64bit). We set up a network to connect to the internet and so I can access documents that had been made on the desktop. I have not had issues using the printer off the desktop with any programs. I installed a creative program to create flyers, cards, etc onto the laptop. Same one as on the desktop. When trying to print off the laptop, I can not access the whole options on the printer. I forget the name of the options I want (maybe called printing preferences) but I would like to choose wether I am using the photo tray or presentation printing or economy printing, etc. I can only choose print.  That is not  good for printing cards, etc. I had made a recipe care template with that program and wanted to print one out.
What have I not done in setting up my laptop? I tried the to "add a printer" on a network and that did not fix my issue. Any help is appreciated. thanks.

    Hi Bayratlj
Dunno if you've sorted your problem out, but I had exactly the same problem with a HP Photosmart 3100. I found some advice on http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=6201674 regarding the firewall on the Mac and yes that is the problem. But as you'll see with my last post in that topic I cant figure out how to keep my firewall on AND have printer sharing. Just allowing printer sharing in the firewall settings is no help.
    Cheers

  • Cannot print PDF files on shared Laserjet Pro P1102w over network.

Having an issue with a P1102w not printing PDF files when sent to it over the network. Printer is shared on a networked PC via USB (wireless enabled but not used) and listed in the Active Directory so anyone can find it and print, However, if any computer other than the host tries to send a PDF document then the printer ejects a blank page and the warning light flashes, Word documents, Powerpoint presentations print fine just not PDFs? Tried changing the print processor, printing directly, resinstalling drivers but still no luck.
Network is a small server with 2008 standard 32bit connected to a HP 24 port procurve switch. Anyone come across this problem before?

    Hi,
    Are you using Adobe Reader?
From the Print dialog, click the Advanced Button.
Check the Print as image option, confirm the changes and try printing.
    Can you see any change?
