Presentation printers using preference

Hello,
We are using Server 2012 Standard for presenting a desktop to users using rds.
We also supply printers using preferences to our users. We use the item-level targeting for presenting the printers depending on AD printer groups. We use the "replace" option , "run in user context" and "remove this item when it
no longer applies". All works fine. Printers are presented to users.
However If we remove a user from printer group and relogon with the user then the following appears :
-> The printer that should be removed is stil visible in the "devices and printers" applet.
-> The printer is not available as printer in an application ( ex. notepad )
-> The printer is not in the user registry
If we remove the local profile and relogon then the printer is gone ( manually removing the printer from the applet also works ). Any suggestions ?

Hi,
Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
Are you using roaming profile in your environment? What’s the client OS version?
Does this issue happens for all users?
It might happens this due to roaming profile will take precedence over normal user profile and you will able to see the printer attached. After manual deletion of server please try once to restart the server and then check the result.
Hope it helps!
Thanks.

  • How to you "publish" Bonjour Shared printers using Workgroup Manager?

    Dear Friends,
    Hello. We have just spend considerable time setting up Mac OS X 10.6.4 server to host some printers to our Mac clients (previously we had used a Windows print server but it was too slow and inflexible). We have the printers we need set-up and shared out as Bonjour Shared printers because that sends out all of the duplex setting we need. I have tried to "publish" these using Workgroup Manager and they do not show up on the list. How do you "publish" these printers using WGM? NOT: We can't just let people select "nearby" printers because we want to set a default and use kerberos security.

    Anthony,
    Thank you for you help. The procedure you outline is what we have attempted to do. We add the Bonjour-shared printers to a client and then open Work Group Manager on the same computer but when you go to the "Printing" pane of "Preferences" the printers do not show under "Available Printers", neither do USB printers.
    Hope this clarifies our problem. We would like to use Work Group Manager as advertised but it doesn't seem to be working for us.
    Welcome to my world…
    This 'bug' has existed for several major versions of Mac OS X Server (10.6, 10.5, and maybe 10.4). I did report it more than once to Apple as an official bug but they don't seem to 'get it' despite my best efforts.
    You can do the following
    Add a printer directly to a computer running WGM,
    Then use WGM to 'push' the printer out to clients,
    The model of the printer will then also be pushed out to clients so they automatically select the correct driver but not the correct paper tray/duplex/etc. settings.
    You can do the following
    Add a Mac OS X Printer Server queue to the computer running WGM (which must not be the same computer acting as the Mac OS X Printer Server) if you do this via the Bonjour advertisement of the queue then it will not get the model, or any settings from the print server.
    You can then push this queue out to clients via WGM
    You cannot do the following
    Add a Mac OS X Printer Server queue to the computer running WGM (which must not be the same computer acting as the Mac OS X Printer Server) if you do this via IPP, then the WGM machine will get the model automatically, but not any paper tray/duplex settings.
    However this queue cannot then be seen in WGM and therefore cannot be pushed out to clients.
    Apparently doing custom XML, would allow also pushing out printer settings, but this is so far from 'the Macintosh Way' that only a masochist would do it.
    This area is one of the few where the Mac is significantly worse than Windows, it is an area that Microsoft (mostly) sorted literally decades ago. Not only in the Windows world can you push the printer model, and the printer settings, but you can even if needed push the entire printer driver out to the (Windows) clients.

  • How can I share printers using a non apple router, imac to ipad?

    Newbie in osx, but experienced in linux.
    My new imac has 3 printers setup for sharing, but ipad 2 / iphone 4 fail to see them.  I am using the belkin router that I owned already, instead of buying an Airport.
    I found a solution at askubuntu.com Q 26130 at http://askubuntu.com/questions/26130/how-can-share-my-printer-so-that-i-can-use- it-with-airprint
    I setup a linux machine on the network, with no physical connection to any printer. The 1st, an hp fax psc has a usb to imac, as the 2nd, an hp psc, the 3rd printer is an epson wireless, which is only connected on the network by wifi to the belkin router. I'm certain the imac "sharing" is properly setup, because the linux machine has no trouble finding the printers.  Only the ipad / iphone have a problem.
    Once I put the linux machine (with the above changes) on the network, everything works as desired.  I can print on the ipad / iphone to any of the 3 printers, using the built in Airport printer routine (not the epson or hp apps). And the imax and linux machines can also print on all 3.
    So, I suspect the imac isn't telling the router to display the printers on the network in a way that iOS can see them. I know it would work if I owned an Airport, but I'd rather not spend that much right now.
    I'm sure someone knowledgable in OSX might have an idea where to stick an Airport definition file, created from the python script in askubuntu, that could solve this without having to run the linux laptop all the time.  Any ideas?
    TIA

    It's possible to use free software (Virtualbox and Ubuntu) to fix the broken iOS 5 Airprint printing with non supported printers.  Here's a fix that works on my imac, but should also work on even a windows pc.
    My setup is a lion imac with 2 non-airprint supported usb printers attached, a belkin wifi router that provides network connectivity for my imac, ipad, and iphone.
    Install ubuntu 11.10 in a virtualbox vm.  Specify to use the "Bridged Adapter" with "en1: WiFi (AirPort)" for the network hardware.  Make sure the imac's usb printers are setup with sharing.  On ubuntu, select System Settings > Printers and add your imac's shared printers to the list.  Then start ubuntu's firefox and set "localhost:631" in the address. On the administration tab, under the Server section, check "Share printers connected to this system" and hit Change Settings button to activate it.  Go back to ubuntu's printer setup, and right click on each printer and check that the properties Policies tab does not have any messages about it being unshared. If so, then go back to firefox and make sure the Server sharing checkbox is enabled. It may help to reboot.
    Fire up virtualbox to be able to use AirPort printing to your imac's usb printers, when you want to print from the iphone or ipad. This also works on iOS 5.
    Only problem is error message from iphone to check the printer for errors, even though it actually prints ok.

  • How to set a value to a Presentation Variable using GO URL?

    Hi All,
         I am working on a drill (GO URL) from Dashboard page1 to Dashboard page2.
         The problem I am facing is, I am not able to pass a value to the presentation variable through GO URL. (I have to pass "Customer Category" static
    value to The presentation variable present in Dashboard Page2 ).
         The Dashboard page2 is having a view select in which we are using presentation variable to select the report based on the value selected in
    View Select.
         For example: If the user selects "Customer Category" value in View select and clicks on GO button Customer Category report will show the out put.
         When i am drilling from Dashboard Page1 I have to pass a value to the presentation variable used in view select and also pass some filter condition in
         GO URL.
         Please let me know if it is feasible to pass a value to the presentation variable through GO URL in OBIEE 10.1.3.4.
         It will be greate if you can provide me with the syntax to set a value to the presentation variable of dashboard page2 through GO URL.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Sagar Vishwanathwar.

    1) You have to navigate to dashboard page, not to answer request = you have to use "Dashboard URL API" not GO URL API.
    2) On the target page, you have to place dashboard prompt, which sets required presentation variable.
    3) Refer to the target using Dashboard URL API and set filter on prompt column using URL parameters. Example: http://localhost:9704/analytics/saw.dll?Dashboard&PortalPath=%2Fusers%2Fadministrator%2F_portal&Page=page%201&Action=Navigate&P0=1&P1=eq&P2=D_TIME.YEAR_CODE&P3=%221996%22
    Do not forget to use Action=Navigate. The syntax for setting filters using url parameter is the same as for GO URL API described in Business Intelligence Presentation Services Administration Guide.
    This is the way, you can implement navigation to parametrized direct SQL reports including passing filter values...
    Regards K.

  • Calculation View computing 1 million net present values using BFL procedure

    Hi,
    i have around 1 Million financial positions in a position table and for each of them i want to calculate the net present value using SAP HANA BFL procedure _SYS_AFL.AFLBFL_NETPRESENTVALUE_PROC. The necessary cash flows, interests, etc. (used as input for the BFL procedure reside in a cash flow table
    To make it nice i would like to use a HANA calculation view, which provides the position table together with a calculated field NETPRESENTVALUE
    Now my question: How can i do this the fastest way? The challenge i see is, that the BFL procedure allows only the calculation of one net present value result at a time (based on the cash flows of one financial position).
    So i am afraid i have to use
      DECLARE CURSOR l_position_cursor ...
        FOR l_position_row as l_position_cursor DO
             CALL _SYS_AFL.AFLBFL_NETPRESENTVALUE_PROC ...;
        END FOR;
    Do you have any better / more performant ideas?
    Thanks for any idea,
    Gunther

    Does the ext directory have the php_oci8.dll? In the original steps the PHP dir is renamed. In the given php.in the extension_dir looks like it has been updated correctly. Since PHP distributes php_oci8.dll by default I reckon there would be a very good chance that the problem was somewhere else. Since this is an old thread I don't think we'll get much value from speculation.

    Keynote presentations when using wireless libratone zipp speaker there is a 2sec delay before any slide containing video/audio plays - tried connection through apple TV still the same. Any ideas?

    Thanks Gary, I think I should have mentioned that I have wired my other speakers and it works fine.
    I just wanted to go wireless when presenting in front of class, simply to avoid trailing wires from the macbook which I position in front of me on a desk next to the projector and the speakers are behind me next to the screen.
    I have struggled to find a solution, and reading through other discussions it is a problem that perhaps only Apple can solve.
    I hope the new 'Yosemite' will resolve the problem.
    Thank you once again for your reply.

  • What HP printers use HP363 cartridges? Appalled by customer service.

    So, I just phoned HP sales to ask what printers use the HP363 cartridges, because my HP D7360 printer has just packed in and I have a load of cartridges for it, and was rather coldly told "you'll just have to look through them all to find out".
    I'm really losing my patience with HP.  This is my 3rd HP D3760, it too has also broken down and when I make an enquiry about buying a new printer I'm brushed off with that kind of customer support!
    I'm wondering why I'm even looking at another HP.  Were it not for the cartridges, I doubt I would.
    Is there a quick way of establishing what, current, HP printers use the HP363 cartridges?
    Thank you.
    Nathon.

    The HP363 cartridge is meant for European printers. If you log into www.hp.co.uk, you can find the HP 363 for sale. From this link, it appears these ink cartridges are meant for our "Connery" writing systems that are used in some of our 2006, 2007 and 2008 printers. Examples include the following listed here.

  • Problems with "Printers & Scanners" preference pane under Mavericks

    Since installing OS X Mavericks I can no longer print to our WiFi enabled Epson WF-7515 network printer, and attempting to access the "Printers & Scanners" preference pane in System Preferences either produces a Preferences Error which reads "Could not load Printers & Scanners preference pane", or gives a corrupt version of the preference pane which then in turn leads to a different Preferences Error reading "There was an error in Printers & Scanners preference pane".
    * Restarting in Safe Mode gives same results.

    Open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
    Type or copy paste the following:
    ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.systempreferences.plist
    Click Go then move the com.apple.systempreferences.plist file to the Trash.
    Theb visit the Epson website. Download and install v10.9 Mavericks compatible printers.
    Then open System Preferences > Printers & Scanners  > Print

  • Problems printing to HP printers using Bonjour and XP

    Good afternoon all
    I am unable to print from my ThinkPad X61 PC laptop running XP (Service Pack 3) to either of my HP printers (Laserjet 6MP and PhotoSmart C3180) connected to my Airport Extreme via a USB hub. They work fine from my MacBook running Snow Leopard, or when directly connected to my PC.
    I am able to install both printers using Bonjour Printer Wizard (and recognize them through Airport Utility). I then print a document, it spools to the print queue, then generates an error saying the document failed to print. I have tried it without the hub with the same result.
    I have reinstalled Bonjour and the printer drivers and followed the Printer Troubleshooting Guide procedure to no avail. I have also tried the TCP/IP port creation which did not work. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Pahu,
    Thanks for you reply. Here's some additional information because I'm not quite sure how to resolve the network addressing as you described. The router is set up as a DHCP server, using the standard 192.168.1.1 IP address, and the subnet mask is 255.255.255.0 The starting IP address is 192.168.1.100, and I have it set to allow up to 50 connections. (No particular reason, I think that may have been the default.) The printer is set up to check a variety of connection protocols, starting with DHCP. If that fails, it moves to BOOTP, etc. When I print the network configuraton page from the printer, it tells me the IP address is 169.254.18.32, subnet mask 255.255.0.0, default gateway 169.254.18.32, and the IP is configured by AUTOIP.
    In the past, when it has been working properly, the printer shows an IP address of 192.168.1.10X, usually .100 or .101, but it depends on which device I've powered up first. This is what I would expect, given that the printer should be communicating with the router and be assigned an IP address by DHCP. What I can't figure out is why the printer reverts to its internal default IP address 169.254.18.32, and why this is inaccessible even if I try to designate the printer as an IP printer and type in the printer's IP address.
    Do I need to set the printer to refresh its DHCP lease more often to ensure it doesn't get cut off by the router? How do I make sure the printer stays on the same subnet as the computers if they're all on the same router? Should I assign the printer a static IP address like 192.168.1.100, then set the DHCP range to start at 192.168.1.101? Sorry to ask so many questions, I'm not a network expert and I didn't think this printer would be such a pain to configure.
    Cheers,
    R

  • What hp printers use 74 & 75 ink? Buy new ink if my C4280 still says 'no ink cartridge detected'?

    This printer has worked fine in the past. It is a bit old. I used one that has a fax machine for a while, but after I didn't need that 1, I set this 1 up again...maybe a yr ago? Recently, it has not recognized the ink cartridges as being installed. I believe I bought the 74 & 75 cartridges maybe 2 months ago, so they're fairly new. I've looked up help on this board and tried unplugging from the back then the outlet for 15 seconds and plugging it back in...no help. I read how to clean off the cartridges and where the cartridges go into...no help. I even unplugged it from the back and the outlet for 20 minutes...no help. I read somewhere on this board no other printers use 74 & 75 ink (or was it one of them?). So if I were to buy new ink and that isn't the problem....? Can anyone help me? Thank you!

  • Set Folder Presentation LayoutSet using Java

    HI
    I need to set the presentation layoutset using Java.
    Can somebody guide me as to how the API can be used?
    I discovered this inteface 'ILayoutSetEvent' in the package 'com.sapportals.wcm.rendering.base' that has the methods 'getLayoutSet()' and 'setLayoutSet()'.
    However, i do not know how to get a handle on this for a particular folder.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks
    Alkesh

    Hello,
    I'm not sure if the API is officially released, but ...
    You need the ILayoutService, which is a repository service. There your can either set a profile or a layoutset for a folder (collection).
    public boolean saveParametersForCollection(
       ICollection collection,
       ILayoutSet parameters,
       ILayoutContext context);
    The paramter 'collection' is the folder, for which you want to save the settings.
    The parameter 'context' is a key for the iView you want to have the settings in. If you want to have the same settings for this folder in all iViews, you may use null.
    The parameter 'parameters' is the map with all settings you want to save. This may be in the simplest way only the name of the layoutset.
    The coding may look like:
    import com.sapportals.wcm.repository.service.layout.*;
    import com.sapportals.portal.pcd.gl.IPcdGlService;
    import com.sapportals.portal.prt.component.IPortalComponentRequest;
    import com.sapportals.portal.prt.runtime.PortalRuntime;
    import com.sapportals.wcm.IWcmConst;
    import com.sapportals.wcm.repository.ICollection;
    import com.sapportals.wcm.repository.ResourceException;
    import com.sapportals.wcm.repository.ResourceFactory;
    import com.sapportals.wcm.repository.service.layout.customizing.ILayoutSet;
    import com.sapportals.wcm.repository.service.layout.customizing.IParameterNameConst;
    import com.sapportals.wcm.repository.service.layout.customizing.flavor.IFlavorConst;
    public class SettingsUtil {
      public static void saveLayoutset(String layoutSetID, ICollection collection, IPortalComponentRequest req) {
        try {
          // get the layout service
          ILayoutService layoutService = (ILayoutService) ResourceFactory.getInstance().getServiceFactory().getRepositoryService(collection,
              IWcmConst.LAYOUT_SERVICE);
          // check for null, class cast...
          // get the context
          ILayoutContext context = null;
          try {
            String name = req.getComponentContext().getProfile().getComponentName();
            // get a short iView id from the GLService if possible
            IPcdGlService service = (IPcdGlService) PortalRuntime.getRuntimeResources().getService(IPcdGlService.KEY);
            String shortContextID = service.getPcdObjectFactory().convertUrlToShortName(name);
            context = layoutService.getContextForUser(collection.getContext().getUserUME(), shortContextID);
          } catch (IllegalArgumentException e) {
            // handle exception
          ILayoutSet layoutSet = layoutService.createLayoutSet();
          try {
            layoutSet.setParameter(IFlavorConst.FLAVOR_NULL, IParameterNameConst.SETNAME, layoutSetID);
          } catch (LayoutServiceConfigLoadException e1) {
            // handle exception
          // save the settings for the folder
          layoutService.saveParametersForCollection(collection, layoutSet, context);
        } catch (ResourceException e) {
          // handle exception
    This is only a sceleton. Use with care.
    ShortcontextID or User may be null.
