Presenter 7 hangs on AICC resume - core_lesson

We are launching recorded webinar presentations with Presenter 7
via an AICC compliant LMS.  The intitial launch and track works fine when the user views the presentations in their entirety.  However, if the user decides to close and then resume at a later time, the relaunch of the Presenter 7 courses hang (the swirling icon just spins and spins and the presentation never loads).
From the AICC log files, I can see the Presenter 7 courses are returning [core_lesson] data for the LMS to store.  The LMS stores the data (e.g. 1A0000100000) as expected because I can view it in the database.  The LMS then makes the same core_lesson data available back to the Presenter 7 course as part of the GetParam call on the resume.  Since I can actually edit the AICC call back program in our LMS, if I conditionally suppress (make blank) the value for the [core_lesson] section for the Presenter 7 courses on resume, the courses launch fine and do not hang.  But if I let the LMS make the data available as expected, they hang up.
I'm not sure what the core_lesson data contains, but some of these presentations are lengthy and if the core_lesson data contains a bookmark back to where the student left the presentation last time, it would be nice to have it working correctly.
Any thoughts?

  • Update to 10.6.8 - system hang (mouse issue) after resume from sleep

    I am on older
    MacBook Pro3.1
    Intel Core 2 Duo
    2.6GHz
Run on 10.6.8 almost flawelessly. Shortly after upgrade to 10.6.8 system started to hang periodically after resuming from sleep. Symptoms are that it stops responding to mouse (be it touch pad or USB mouse). Keyboard seems to be ok but system doesn't seem to be fully functional. I am able to ssh from the other computer and 'shutdown -r now' after reboot system seem to be ok until next resume from sleep. What interesting though is that this problem newer manifests then I am using external monitor.

Found problem. It was due to magic mouse that I left on. I carry this mouse in the laptop bag but rarely use it. Last time I used it (around the same time I install the update) I left it on in the bag. It was apparently disconnecting/connecting on its own and by some reason sometimes was breaking touch pad and other usb mouse connected to laptop, as soon as I switched magic mouse off broblem was fixed

  • Big slowdown (hang-up actually) after resuming from hibernation (T61 & Win7)

    Hi
Recently I have noticed, that my machine is someteimes slowed down after resuming from hibernation on Windows 7 and I can't do anything. I wait one minute, two... but nothing happens. Even mouse cursor isn't moving smooth. Pressing ctrl+alt+del causes that "preparing security options..." screen appears but nothing more... So I can't run task manager. Only thing I can do is powering down & booting again laptop so actually I can say that my machine hangs up after resuming from hibernation.
I don't know if this is important, but always when it happend I was resuming system without AC connected and noticed that fan is not working.
    edit:
today it happend again. I conncected AC but it didn't help. I have noticed, that when system is in this 'near hang-up' state - plugging usb mouse doesn't even cause mouse sensor to light.
    Any ideas what's going on?
    T61 7664-R6G core 2 duo 2.1ghz, 2gb ram, windows 7 32 bit (latest updates and drivers installed).

Are you by any chance removing a LAN cable while in hibernation?
    I have a similar problem with my T61 7663-13G, Windows 7 x64 and Standby.
(Could eliminate my Minidocks and power supplies IMHO.)
But it seems like if I remove the network cable while in standby Win 7 will hang after the still successful login.
(hang = I can let the cursor jump inch by inch, but nothing else is responding.)
    - Update:
Changed the driver from my wired network card from 9.13.16.0 to 9.13.41.0 and can't reproduce my hang-ups atm.

  • Essbase Server Hangs Intermittently - Urgent pls Help

    Essbase Version - 9.3.3
    Shared Services - 9.3.3
    Enviroment - Windows Server 2003
We are in the process of migrating the users from Domain A to Domain B
There are around 15000 users across the board, out of which I assume there are around 250 users accessing the Hyperion Application.
Since the Domain Migration was started, We encountered Essbase Server freezes Intermittently.
Essbase Server goes down for about 10-15 Minutes and automatically comes back. No Error Msg in the Essbase Log.
Active Directory Migration was put on Hold because business had to complete their Month end Activities.
While we were working to find the RCA and identified that few users who were migrated from Domain A to Domain B appeared to be on Both the Domain and we figured out that it might be one of the reason for Essbase Server Hangs.
We had a Plan to Run the Update native Directory Utility to clear the Stale Data
Post Performing the Action our system was stable and didn't had system Hangs.
we also changed the shared services Cache refresh Interval to 24 Hrs in CSS.xml File ( Just to Make sure the Refresh happens Overnight)
Since the Active Directory Team had resumed their Migration Activies, we started Experiencing the System Hangs Issues again. server goes down for 5-10 min and comes back up
Please Input your Valuable Thoughts, Would Really Appreciate your Help.
    Thanks in Advance.

    Hi,
    Thanks for your prompt response.
As mentioned, AD team have the filters on place, There is no issues with the User Access and there was no change in password after migrating the Domain.
I have checked the Display Session through Maxl and there is No heavy sessions.
As Stated earlier, we are unable to identify the cause regarding the System Freeze. All users access the application all  of sudden essbase server hangs and it doesn't allow user to retrieve the data, nor allow him to access any application within Essbase and Planning.
After 5-10 Min,  server automatically comes back.
Can you tell me if there is a way to track the system Hangs through Essbase Log without getting the any inputs from the users.
Assuming if the users sessions are heavy what makes the server hang and automatically resumes without intervention.
Shared Services Security Log display the following Error, Can you tell me if you had come across any such errors before.

    Hi,
    1) After resumable timeout , it will be resumed
    2) You can use one more option
    impdp>help
    impdp> start_job jobname
It will resume the paused job
    Hope this answers your question

  • Keynote and Snow Leopard

Installed Snow Leopard and now Keynote cannot open powerpoint presentations -- just hangs and then crashes. Anyone else have this problem? Thanks

Which version of Keynote are you using, and was the PowerPoint created on a PC with the latest version of Office or Office 2008?
I've just tried Keynote 5.0.2 with a PowerPoint made using 2003 on a PC without a problem.

  • N73 Impressions

A year ago I posted comments here on the N70. Most of what I didn’t like has been corrected in the N73. So maybe the Nokia engineers really do read these postings. Here are my impressions of the N73.
The N73 form factor is a little longer than the N70’s, but it’s slimmer and much lighter—about as handy a phone as you could hope for, given the generous size of the screen. There’s a volume control on the side now, making it much more convenient to adjust the volume, and big improvements to the camera cover: It doesn’t slide open by itself anymore and it’s less bulky. There’s also a dedicated camera capture key, which is handy, and another button that takes you right to your most recently shot photo, which I keep pressing accidentally. The wrist strap is in a better location, at the bottom of the camera, beside the earphone attachment, so you can put the phone in a pocket without resting it on the earphone plug and have access to the strap.
Two complaints about the new configuration: (1) The memory card cover is alarmingly flimsy and there’s nothing to grip when you want to open it. It has to be pried off by sliding a sharp blade or similar under one end. Moreover, it opens from one end only and there’s no marking on the phone to indicate which. (2) The jog stick is tiny and VERY hard to manoeuvre accurately. I have small fingers but am forever ‘selecting’ when I want to be moving the focus.
The earphones are also significantly improved over those of the N70. The loss of the two little anti-tangle rings is small price to pay for much better fitting earpieces and a volume control. Sound through the earphones is excellent.
The screen is large, bright and displays images handsomely. The principle camera takes amazingly good photos, and the repositioning of the image to horizontal when you turn the camera is nice. A BIG improvement over the N70 is the way the N73’s music player behaves when interrupted. If you pause it, it remembers the track you last played. Even if you exit temporarily from the player, it reopens on the last played track. If you pause the player before going to another function, an icon appears on the standby screen which takes you right back to the track you were on. If, on the other hand, the player isn’t paused but rather interrupted by an incoming or outgoing phone call, when you hang up, it resumes right where it left off. Extremely civilized. The player requires a little more navigation than on the N70—play/pause, forward and back are now controlled from separate icons. But since each icon only does one thing, once you get to the one you want, it works as expected: No more skipping back a track when you were just trying to rewind the current one.
There’s an irritating (new, I think) tic that afflicts the search for a contact: Once you’ve typed in enough of the name so that the contact you want appears in the list, and you're cursoring down toward it, it’s very easy to ‘select’ the wrong name, because of the difficulty of manoeuvring the joy stick. Once you’ve backed out of the wrong contact, the name you were seeking has disappeared from the search list, and you have to start the search process again.
The phone does suffer from some other quirks which have been much noted on this site: Whenever you turn it on, you get a message to the effect that you have voice mail (when you don’t). Also, each time you turn the phone off, it seems to lose the ability to manage the files on the memory card (mine is 1 GB). Connecting it to your computer as a mass storage device and then running a disk check with error correction gets the card going again, but it’s a nuisance. Easier is to avoid turning the phone off. Another apparent defect: Sometimes, for no clear reason, the battery runs flat very fast—in less than a day with little or no use. I’ve been caught out more than once.
The manual is not good. There is no labelled diagram of the phone, and no instructions either for removing the battery cover or the memory card cover. Icons that appear on the screen are not explained in the manual.
PC Suite’s Music Transfer (ver. 6.81.13) utility is improved over the previous. It loads the phone contents much faster. It also lists files on the computer faster. It’s easier to select a group of files for copying or to include in a track list. The interface is pretty lacklustre, though, and it crashes too frequently.
On balance, the N73 is a big improvement over the N70. I like it despite its quirks, and If Nokia can work those out, it will be a standout phone.
    Pamela

Well, you're partly right. My Get Started booklet does describe how to remove the battery cover and it does have a diagram of the phone's working parts. It also has a section entitled 'insert your memory card', but this says nothing about HOW to insert it--that is, how to open the slot cover, which is by no means obvious.
As for icon explanations, there's a list of 'Essential indicators', starting p. 11 of my manual but, as the heading implies, it doesn't include all icons. The only example of an omission I can think of at the moment is the icon that appears, near the top of the standby screen, when volume is turned all the way down. Of course, if you're watching the screen so that you see the icon appear while you're deliberately lowering the volume, you can figure out what it means. But if you simply come upon it, you might not have a clue. Mysterious icons sometimes appear in my list of tracks. I have searched for their meaning in vain.

  • Two macbooks stacked, no wake up

    Hello,
I have solved a strange problem, maybe this post can help other people in similar situation.
If you have a closed macbook on the desk and put another on on it (like a stack) - I do it because my desk is rather small - sometimes the top macbook cannot wake up, or even it goes to "sleep mode" while you work on it! Keyboard, power button, mouse click - nothing works. The battery LEDs show 100%, power cord  green. My macbook was alive, I could hear the disk spinning and when I used Apple Remote, the iTunes music started playing.
For me it was very confusing, until I found, that the magnetic sensor of closed display from the bottom macbook affects the sensor of the macbook on the top of the stack. It thinks then, that its display is closed as well and ignores any input interface.
I lost some time digging in console log, hardware tests, apple service, but macbook works fine, when it is standalone.
    So beware when stacking laptops.

    Hi All,
This is my first post, so please be gentle.
I have seen a few posts with issues similar to mine, but the solutions offered were of no help to me.  So I'm hoping to pick your brains a little bit more.  It's an annoyance more than anything, but an annoyance nonetheless.
My system goes to sleep just fine, everything powers down.  But upon the wake command, the power lights come on, the fans spin up, the CD drive light flashes, the hard disks sound like they're initializing, yet the monitor remains off and the hard disk activity LED remains off.  I have to literally pull the computer's power cord out to reset the machine since the buttons on the case cease to work.  Normal shut-downs don't cause this.
All drivers are up to date and the issue persists with bios 1.3 and 1.4.  Any help y'all can give would be greatly appreciated!

  • Shockwave On Linux

Is Shockwave ever going to be released on Linux. It doesn't
make sense to me as there are a load of people who use Linux now.
And there are loads of places that require the usage of Shockwave
    especially for internet games.

I don't believe this makes the MS-Windows plugin usable in a native browser.  It requires running a separate browser, an act that is incoherent with an established session in the native browser.  For example, log in and navigate your favorite web site.  Encounter a Shockwave presentation.  Start a MS-Windows browser on Wine/CW.  Log in to the site, navigate to the presentation and view it.  Terminate the MS-Windows browser.  Return to the native browser and log back in to your favorite site, since the login to view the presentation clobbered your session.  Resume previous activities.

  • Sshfs disconnects without unmounting, keeps making everything freeze

    Hi!
Every time sshfs stops working (guess it times out after a while?), every application that tries to access the folder freezes. After I "killall sshfs", they unfreeze, but the folder stays inaccessible until I manually umount them as root (which sometimes doesn't work).
while it's still "mounted", ls says:
ls: cannot access sshdmount: Transport endpoint is not connected
"lsof | grep ssh" just says…
lsof: WARNING: can't stat() fuse.sshfs file system /home/user/folder
    Output information may be incomplete.
lsof: WARNING: can't stat() fuse.sshfs file system /home/user/sshdmount
    Output information may be incomplete.
    … and doesn't finish.
Is that supposed to be like that?
    - If yes, how do you handle it? Just do a script that kills sshfs and unmounts?
    - If no: Then… why? How do I get rid of this behaviour?
    Thanks!

To keep ssh sessions alive even with the client suspended  you could increase 'ClientAliveInterval' in /etc/ssh/sshd_config on the remote side, for example to 600 minutes . Because now sessions stay open on the server you need to prevent ending up with dozens of  sessions, so  put this in ~/.ssh/config on the client to reuse sessions instead of creating new ones:
    # prevent connection from hanging
    ServerAliveInterval 15
    # set connection sharing
    ControlMaster auto
    ControlPath ~/.ssh/master-%r@%h:%p
Eventually sessions will die and so this is a way to make sure sshfs unmounts and mounts when suspending:
( For mounts done as non-root user you would need to change the line with starting with fusermount to something like:  su -c 'fusermount -u ..' otherusername)
    /etc/pm/sleep.d/00_sshfs_automount.sh:
    #!/bin/bash
    # unmount all sshfs mountpoints before suspending/hibernating
    # to prevent hanging sshfs after resume/thaw
    case $1 in
    hibernate | suspend)
    mountpoint_count=$(egrep -c '(/[^ ]+) fuse.sshfs' /etc/mtab)
    if [ $mountpoint_count -gt 0 ]; then
    mountpoints=($(awk '/(\/[^ ]+) fuse.sshfs/ { print $2 }' /etc/mtab))
    for element in $(seq 0 $((${#mountpoints[@]} - 1)))
    do
    fusermount -u "${mountpoints[$element]}"
    done
    fi
    thaw | resume )
    mount -a
    # exit 0
    esac
    exit 0

  • Firefox hangs after resume from hibernation

The problem is basically exactly like described here, only the solution presented there does not actually work for me:
    http://askubuntu.com/questions/59062/a-script-on-this-page-may-be-busy-or-it-may-have-stopped-responding-everytime
What happens is that every time I hibernate my laptop (with Windows 7 Pro, 64bit), when I resume from hibernation, FF is completely unresponsive (hangs) for minutes. Easily around 5 minutes. Eventually a dialog box pops up with the following:
"A script on this page may be busy, or it may have stopped responding. You can stop the script now, or you can continue to see if the script will complete."
And the two buttons are: "stop script" or "continue". After I click "stop script" the unresponsiveness finally goes away, and FF starts working normally again.
I think possibly even clicking "continue" also makes it go back to normal, but I'm not sure anymore since I have recently just switched to sleep mode out of frustration in order to not deal with it anymore, and I don't remember exactly if I get the same result from clicking either option.
    This is extremely frustrating.
Someone else reported an extremely similar symptom here:
    https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/935110?esab=a&as=aaq
It might even be the exact same symptom. Maybe that person simply never waited long enough for the dialog box to appear, but otherwise the unusability symptoms are the same.

Ok so I finally got around to testing this thoroughly, as you suggested. I used FF in SafeMode for about 2 days now, and went through at least half a dozen hibernation/resume cycles. Probably closer to 10. I can conclude that using safe mode (aka restarting with all add-ons disabled) did not solve it at all. The issue remains.
As always, simply resetting FF (either with enabled or disabled addons) seems to make this problem less severe, if not almost go away completely. But after a few hibernate/resume cycles, it becomes really bad. Before posting this, I was using Opera for like 10 minutes after resuming from hibernation before FF finally snapped out of it, and windows that I had clicked on in the task bar, like 10 minutes ago, finally popped up.
I have not yet tested the disabling hardware acceleration. Sounds quite doubtful that it might help but I'll try.
How can we get the developers' attention on this?
33 others report having this problem (as of this post). And there are similar reports elsewhere. But after many new versions of FF, it seems that the developers are not addressing these bugs but are instead focused on new features to compete with whatever Chrome rolls out.
    Thanks!
