Presenter Notes formatting is lost

The previous topic on this was closed. I am using Keynote '09 to generate training materials. Before I used Powerpoint with presenter notes, the output being a PDF file of the "Notes" pages. Using Keynote, however, every time I "print" to PDF the formatting of all my presenter notes is lost! All I want to do is have them be bulleted lists with a larger font, not anything too special or complex.
So, (1) Why does Keynote loose my presenter notes formatting every time I print? This is obviously a bug.
(2) Why can't I have a presenter notes format associated with a Master Slide? That way I could overcome problem (1) by reapplying the master file format to all my slides that have presenter notes.

Welcome to Apple Discussions,
I've tried the process you indicate and my PDFs still have the text formatted as expected (Font choice, font point size change, and bullets).
You may have an issue with your Keynote presentation or with the Keynote Application.
If you make a brand new presentation (just one slide will do) does the same thing happen when printed to PDF?
I see in your profile you have 5 macs. If you try the same process in a new presentation on one of them, does the same thing happen?
If the answer is yes, could you let me know the exact steps you take to add your text to the presenter notes. Or if you have MobileMe you can put a sample presentation that you don't mind sharing into your public folder and provide your member name so we can see the presentation.
Cheers.

  • Is it possible to keep the outline auto formatting from Pages when copying and pasting that outline to the Presenter Notes on Keynote?

    I have been using my iPad for my notes, but I want to start using it as a remote for my macbook. When I copy and paste the notes into the Presenter Notes section of Keynote on the macbook, it unformatted. Any bullet point formatting that I do on my macbook is not showing on my iPad's Remote view Presenter Notes. Is there a way to create consistency here that does not involved formatting each one separately?

    Use Drag and Drop
    Have both applications open side by side
    select the text in Pages
    with the mouse drag the text from pages into presenter Notes pane in Keynote

  • Problem with formatting presentation notes

    Is there a way to change the formatting for all presentation notes, rather than slide by slide? If I open a slide master, and try to click in the notes field on that master, nothing happens. I can't see any preference for changing the default notes font/size either.
    Also, I've noticed something strange. After I print the presentation, the notes change to Helvetica 12 pt. despite the fact that they were 24 pt. before they were printed! This is repeatable and happens every time I print the presentation.
    Thanks for your help.

    This happened to me to. Try restoring from your latest iCloud backup, however, this'll only work if you have an iCloud account as you need one to back up notes. I apologise i can't be anymore detailed,as i dont have an iCloud acocunt myself.

  • Can no longer edit/adjust presenter note font sizes etc

    In a large presentation (meaning I don't wish to start over) I can now no longer edit the presenter fonts, in terms of size or other font related changes - either via the format bar, font window or toolbar icons...
    All options appear grayed out or unselectable...
    The reason I wished to alter font sizes is something occurred which in fact changed all the default sizes (from 22 down to an unreadable 12) in my presenter notes.
    Adding new slides retains the editable presenter notes...but quickly these seem to end up ultimately changing to the smaller uneditable font scenario.
    Help!

    I was just searching for this problem myself... here is my experience:
    In order to change presenter note fonts I need to open the font box (format/font/show fonts)... the problem is that things go screwy when I change presenter notes size... the cpu starts maxing out, keynote snails along.. I have to quit/restart. Bug city.?
    There is definitely some disconnect between these notes fonts and the rest of the keynote program!
    The ability to easily change these notes size is important for me but I'm hesitant to keep trying...
    ps: choosing font/format/show fonts is the same as using the toolbar A icon - the format bar fonts don't work for presenter notes.

  • Keynote presentations notes

    I make simple presentations on my mbp then download them into my iPod Touch 4th gen for connection to a VGA TV.  I use an iPad 2 with Keynote remote to control it.  However, when I transfer the presentation from the mbp to the Touch I lose all the text formatting on my presentation notes.  Is there a way to underline or bold text or change text color in the presentation notes that works on the Touch?

    The Optomo projector pico mirrors exactly what is on my mac pro. Any help appreciated Thanks, George UK
    Apple Menu > System Preferences > Displays > Arrangement:  de-select the Mirror Displays checkbox
    In Keynote 6.5.2 whilst in rehearse presentation mode there is now no switch screen button on the top right like there used to be.
    Press the X key on the keyboard to swap presenter display with Presentation.

  • Presentation notes

    Hi
    i am preparing notes for a presentation and was wondering was software would be best for doing it.
    You may have seen the picture of steve jobs notes from the iphone keynote, http://www.spymac.com/upload/2007/01/11/LJRzUHAdOF.jpg
    What software would be best for creating this type of layout.
    Thanks
    Andrew

    Go to the Keynote / Preferences / Slideshow Preferences menu and check the box marked "Scale slides up to fit display." Check any other boxes you wish as well. This should set the main slide window to be full-size on your screen whenever you boot-up Keynote.
    Regarding the height of the Presenter Notes window at the bottom of the Edit Window, this can be resized by clicking-on and dragging the right-hand corner (with the two hash = marks) of the divider bar. Regrettably, I believe you will need to do this every time you create a new presentation, but it will remain as you have set it when you reopen it.
    IF you use the same basic Theme and layout for all of your presentations, you could create a Template with the general formatting that you want to use and then Save it and Lock it in the Get Info window of the Finder. Then, when you open it, it will have a blank template ready to use; just Save-As under a new title and you will be ready to go.
    Good Luck.

  • Managing presentation layer formats

    Hi, I'm just curious how people are managing presentation layer formats when using large, complex RPDs. For instance "Year" in our date dimension needs to be formatted to not display the comma, so it shows as "2012" not "2,012". However, this date dimension is used in TONS of presentation subject areas (we use EPM campus solutions), so I have to go in to each and every one to format the year. Is there a better way to do this?
    Sure wish there was a way to specify this in the business layer of the RPD....
    Thx,
    Scott

    Scott,
    For instance "Year" in our date dimension needs to be formatted to not display the comma, so it shows as "2012" not "2,012"
    1) Did someone changed default behavior if we normally pull year column in OOTB it wont give you ','  in results tab
    2) how about duplicating same column in rpd and cast ( col as int) and use it in calculation and pull the calculated measure to presentation layer ?
    thanks,

  • Sd card not formatted after ovi maps update

    Hi.
    I have a problem with my N82 Series Nokia.
    I wanted to update my maps via Ovi Software. I do this and it worked fine.
    Afterwards I tried to check the new maps but only a green area appeared. I accessed the sd card in the phone and only get the message "card full" (or something).
    Now I turned off the cellphone and put the sd card into my pc. But Windows just ask to format the card because it is not formatted.
    This is really very "unfunny" ... all data on the card are lost? I just wanted to update the maps. On a other thread I read that only a few maps (maybe not whole europe) can stored on the cards. That ok, but the Ovi software has to take care about this not the user. The sw has to check the free space and what you want to download.
    If windows says, that I have to format the card than I have a other chance or is there no chance to get the card with the stored data working?

    Hej again.
    I tried now Recuva. Thanks for this tipp. It´s an excellent program!
    But this does not help!
    Recuva restores 5 files (only mp3 / wav files).
    They are all for the navigation with the maps.
    My interpretation:
    The Ovi software downloaded the maps and just store all on the sd card and store and store and does not proof if the disc is full or not?
    And so it copied all on the card until it was "overfull".
    I am a computer scientist and I can´t realize why this will appear in a "crash" of the sd card (maybe the partitioning and index is corrupted) but why?
    Maybe the ovi software has a failure and just copied all to the card anyway if there are other files or enough space or not ...
    Another problem (maybe) is, that I download it via Bluetooth. I don´t realize in the bginning that the cards are so big and the SW said don´t break the connection while downloading. So it takes a few hours.
    I think your development team for the Ovi-Software have to check this case and here are my information to reproduce the problem:
    Nokia N82 cellphone
    Data from: *#0000#: V 20.0.062 28-02.08 Nokia N82 (96.01)
    Computer:
    Windows XP Media Center Edition SP 3 (on Dell Notebook)
    Connection via Bluetooth
    Updating on Ovi Software
    What is the next step now?
    It is ok when I just format the sd card and put it back in the phone? Create the phone on it´s own a directory-structure (maybe for images from the cam and so on ...)?
    When I have to format it ... in which format? I saw in Recuva that it is/was FAT16 formatted, is that right?

  • Presenter Notes Font - Default?

    I have to take notes on presentations in class regularly and I type them into the presenter notes.
    I'm having some trouble with the presenter notes' font and size. Everytime I go to a new slide's presenter notes, the font is Times New Roman or something. I have to INDIVIDUALLY change the font and size of every single slide's presenter notes.
    Is there a way to make a default setting so that all the presenter notes follow the same font/ size?? Thank you!

    Is this an existing presentation? If so, the presenter notes font has already been "set" for each slide, and there is no (easy) way to change this globally (in other words, it would require mucking about with the presentation XML file).
    You can, however, use the Copy/Paste Style function to quickly change the format for each slides notes -- format one slide as you want, select the notes and choose "Copy Style" from the Format menu or Toolbar, then go to the slide you want to enter text on, click in the Presenter Note space, and choose "Paste Style". Once you've got the style "loaded", it is just a matter of clicking "Paste Style" before you type on each slide -- there is no need to re-copy the style.

  • Keynote 6.1 Printing Presenter Notes (Font Size)

    I am a professor and I use extensive presenter notes in my presentations. I have tried printing the slides with the presenter notes but I cannot figure out how to change the font size and other aspects of the printout. I have adjusted the font size of the presenter notes to the size I would like, however when it prints, it just defaults to a much smaller size that is unreadable while I lecture.  Is there any way to control the size of the presenter note font on the printouts?  Thank you.

    I printed out some handouts this morning set at 36 point and they print correctly.
    In handouts there is a limit of 8 lines of text but they should print as set in presenter notes.
    Font, colour and size of text in presenter notes is achieved by:
    select the text in presenter notes pane (commad A)
    then format the text using :
    Format Font > Show Fonts (command T)

    The problem is that you are adding the components in the initComponets() method and then overlaying their references with new components with the applied mask format. The original components are still present on the panel. You've simply orphaned the references to those original components not replaced them on the panel. See adjusted code below:

  • What fonts and attributes are available in presenter notes?

    I use keynote to make lecture presentations and make extensive use of the presenter notes but find it desireable to add italics, underlining, etc and different fonts in my notes.  Is there a way to do that?

    No, there is no mechanism for formating notes.

  • Saving reformated presenter notes

    Formatting notes: I am using PPT slides from older existing presentations and creating a new presentation using Keynote. I understand that in this case the presenter notes font has already been "set" for each slide, and there is no (easy) way to change this globally (in other words, it would require mucking about with the presentation XML file).

Once I've got the style "loaded", it is just a matter of clicking "Paste Style" before I type on each slide -- there is no need to re-copy the style.
    PROBLEM: when I go to save the Keynote file and then reopen, all my presenter notes have reverted back to the old style. It is as if I never when through the above steps to reformat the presenter notes. This is a bug! How do I fix this problem ASAP? It is driving me nuts.

    Erhm...
    What code are you using and what notes?The code is:
    public static void savphpfl(String thetxt) {
    String flname = "ptxt.txt";
    try {
    FileOutputStream s = new FileOutputStream(flname);
    ObjectOutputStream oos = new ObjectOutputStream(s);
    oos.writeInt(12245);
    oos.writeObject(thetxt);
    oos.flush();
    s.close();
    } catch(IOException e) {}
    The text begin with: <html><head><title>Untitled</title></head>........
    Some of the undesired notes (characters) are: &#1501;
    There are another about 5 characters that for some strange reason are not being copied and pasted?. Among them are: a t S

  • Presentation Notes, Fit to Screen

    What I am basically having a problem with is that whenever I open a new keynote presentation, or open an already created one, I want it so that the presentation notes are always opened/viewed at the bottom and that the actual slide on the main window is set to 'fit to screen'.
    Is this possible and if so, how do I make it so that I do not have to do this every time I want to use Keynote?
