Presenter preloading problems

Wow, this forum is hidden really well!
Anyway, I've got a bit of a pickle here that hopefully someone can help me out with.
I just finished up a project in Flash that we want to imbed on separate frames of the presentation, which seems to have gone fine.  The problem that we're coming across is that, for some reason, despite the individual swf files being less than 500K apiece, users are having buffering problems while viewing the presentation.
I'm looking for a way for the swf files to be preloaded by the presentation, rather than be loaded as the user gets to the slide the swf is present on.  There is a toggle to preload all of the frames, which we have switched on, but that doesn't seem to load the imbedded swfs.
I'm somewhat desperate at this point.  I fully realize that Captivate can do the job for me, but my company wasn't willing to go away from the program it is comfortable with...sigh...
Anyway, any help anyone can think of would be hugely appreciated.

Check this:
In the Keynote Preferences > Presenter Display menu, there is a button labeled: "Edit Presenter Layout" Click on this and when the Presenter Display appears, there will be another menu with a checkbox for: Current Slide, Next Slide, Notes, etc. Be sure that the "Next Slide" box is checked.
While you are at it, while in the Presenter Display menu, check the box "Ready to Advance Indicator." This will put a bar across the top of your presenter display; when it is RED, a Build is in process and you must wait for it to complete before you can do anything else; when it is GREEN, you are good-to-go with your next operation.
Good luck.

    have made this external preloader to load my 2mb .swf, and it
    works but when u click on a button the wipe go across the screen
    but it doesnt change the page as you can see this on this link
    below
    http://www.nwmsltd.com/webtest/preloader.html
    but its supose to look like this example( if you clicked on
    the installs button a 3d amimated wipe will go across the screen
    then it will jump to the Installs page)
    http://www.nwmsltd.com/webtest/kidpower_Web.swf
    and i dont know why
    im using the flash 8 Slide presentation template as its
    perfect for what im achive easy to and works fine with out the
    external preloader but if i use the external preloader it stop the
    buttons working by stoping them going to the next page
    the code that tells flash to goto the correct slide is in the
    movie clip where the image sequance of the wipe is and at the end
    of the image sequance i have an action layer which is as follows
    // GoTo Screen behavior
    if((_root.application.Installs != undefined) &&
    (_root.application.Installs != null))
    var screen = null;
    var target = this;
    while((screen == null) && (target != undefined)
    && (target != null))
    if(target instanceof mx.screens.Screen)
    screen = target;
    else
    target = target._parent;
    if(screen instanceof mx.screens.Slide)
    screen.gotoSlide(_root.application.Installs);
    // End GoTo Screen behavior
    and my external preloader code is as follows
    var mcl:MovieClipLoader = new MovieClipLoader();
    var mclL:Object = new Object();
    mclL.onLoadProgress = function(target, loaded,total) {
    loader.percent.text = Math.round((loaded/total) * 100) +
    mclL.onLoadInit = function () {
    loader._visible = false;
    loader.percent.text = "";
    mcl.addListener(mclL);
    mcl.loadClip("kidpower_Web.swf",holder);
    b1.onRelease = function() {
    loader._visible = true;
    mcl.loadClip("kidpower_Web.swf",holder);
    b2.onRelease = function() {
    loader._visible = true;
    mcl.loadClip("2_Web.swf",holder);
    Thanks Martin

    any one please?

  • Does Tiger present Classic problems not found in Panther?

    I have been running various old OS9 apps via Classic under 10.3.6 without any apparent problems.
    I may now need to run them on a laptop with Classic under 10.4.
    I have heard that some problems are presented with certain Classic apps in Tiger that are OK in Panther. Is this the case? If so does anyone know which apps are problematic in Tiger?
    I would be particularly concerned about Adobe Photoshop 5.0 LE.
    Thanks,
    Michael

    Barbara,
    I'm resurrecting this thread because of an associated problem, albeit not to do with Classic but with OSX.
    The point isn't so much 'what doesn't it do?' as does it give me anything I need. However I downloaded the Earthbound Light effects and used Curves from there in PSE2 without problems in OS9 (although nowhere near as conveniently as in PSLE5).
    But moving to OS 10.4 has presented a problem in that the Earthbound Light folder shows up in the Effects tab, but there is nothing in it. I have given full details in a question in the Adobe Forums at http://www.adobeforums.com/cgi-bin/webx/.3bc1e270 and would be grateful if you could spare the time to look at it.

  • Preloader problems - disappears at 60%

    Hi,
    I have two Preloader problems for a project I'm working on right now.
    1. The Main Site preloader disappears when 60% is loaded...with a blank screen lag until moving to the main screen
    2. My external .swf Preloader is still on screen after an external .swf has loaded. I can hear the external .swf playing while watching my loader bar at about 20-40%.
    I'm going to show the code I have for each...hopefully someone can help. Thanks!
    Main Site Preloader:
    var yChange = 109.2;
    var yStart = 330.2;
    myInterval = setInterval(preload,100);
    function preload() {
    var current = _root.getBytesLoaded();
    var total = _root.getBytesTotal();
    var pctLoaded = Math.round(current/total*100);
    mask_mc._y = yStart - yChange/100*pctLoaded;
    if (current >= total) {
      clearInterval(myInterval);
      gotoAndStop("Main",1);
    External SWF Preloader:
    var mcLoader:MovieClipLoader = new MovieClipLoader();
    var myListener:Object = new Object();
    mcLoader.addListener(myListener);
    myListener.onLoadProgress = function(target_mc,bytesLoaded,bytesTotal) {
    extLoader_mc._visible = true;
    var pctLoaded = Math.round(bytesLoaded/bytesTotal*100);
    extLoader_mc.extLoaderBar_mc._xscale = pctLoaded;
    if (bytesLoaded >= bytesTotal) {
      extLoader_mc._visible = false;

    change soundHandler in the fla to:
    // this code below is on the main timeline?
    var soundHandler:AdobeCaptivate.rdSoundHandler = new AdobeCaptivate.rdSoundHandler(this);
    and change rdSoundHandler:
    import AdobeCaptivate.rdSound;
    import flash.display.MovieClip;  // if this is as3
    class AdobeCaptivate.rdSoundHandler extends Object
    var m_sounds:Object;
    var m_movieSound:rdSound;
    var mainMC:MovieClip;
    function rdSoundHandler(mc:MovieClip)
      m_sounds = new Object();
      m_movieSound = null;
      mainMC=mc;
    function attachSound(key:Number, id:String):rdSound
      var sound:rdSound;
      if(m_sounds[key] == undefined || m_sounds[key] == null)
      { //attach new sound to the handler
       var newSound:rdSound = new rdSound(mainMC);
    // and now you have to find rdSound() class and post that
       newSound.attachSound(id);
       sound = m_sounds[key] = newSound;
      else
       sound = m_sounds[key];
       sound.stopSound();
      return sound;
    function detachSound(key:Number)
    { //remove the sound object from the handler
      if(m_sounds[key] != undefined && m_sounds[key] != null)
       var sound:rdSound = m_sounds[key];
       sound.stopSound();
       m_sounds[key] = undefined;
    function playAllSounds(bPause:Boolean)
      if(bPause == true)
      { //pause all sounds
       if(m_movieSound != null)
        m_movieSound.pause();
       for(var key in m_sounds)
        m_sounds[key].pause();
      else
      { //resume all sounds
       if(m_movieSound != null)
        m_movieSound.play();
       for(var key in m_sounds)
        m_sounds[key].play();

  • I am noticing a Bunch of Preloader Problems With Captivate 5

    That are not being answered on the Adobe forums and they all seem to be some what related. I am have major preloader issues and wish this would be resolved.
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/3595269
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/3209686
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/471103
    There are more. Some go back to Captivate 4 and most seem to be related to Action Script three. I am having all of the problems in the above three forums and have yet to find a answer.
    I am using Captivate 5 and Connect Pro 8 on premise.
    It is critical that I get my preloaders to function properly because my clients think that something is wrong when they have to wait more than a few seconds with out see some sign of progress. Thanks.

    Here are some more that are not answered.

  • Presentation variable problem in PDF generation

    Hi,
    I have created the custom field using the following code
    *case when (V_balance.yr<=@{var_year}{2009} and V_balance.yr>=@{var_year-3}{2006}) then 1 else 0 end*
    Use this field I have created the filter and remove the field from report.
    When I run the report with different prompts, its working fine as I expected in dashboard.
    But when I generate the PDF for different prompt values ( var_year=2008 ) , I got same result. That is its generate var_year=2009 (default presentation variable)
    Its generate the pdf with 'presentation variable default values' instead of presentation variable.
    How could I rectify this problem.
    Any one facing this problem.
    Is there any alternative for this condition
    Note:
    We are using bise1 10.1.3.2.1
    but I got a right answer in obiee 10.1.3.4.0
    Thanks
    Mohan
    Edited by: Mohan 8732779 on Nov 23, 2009 5:50 AM

    This is a known issue in 10.1.3.2. Oracle solved this problem in the new upgraded 10.1.3.4. Check the Meta link for the service request numbers raised for this problem. How hard it would be for you to migrate to 10.1.3.4.
    Thanks

  • JavaFX - Image preloading problem

    Hi,
    I try to use ImageView and face some problems with image preloading.
    Here is the code related to the component that has problems. The component extends CustomNode.
    in class attributes declaration:
    var imgNodes: ImageView[];
    // list of url of images to display
    public-init var imgs: String[];
    in create function:
    for(indice in [0..batch]){
    var view= ImageView{
    fitWidth:100
    fitHeight:100
    translateX: (110 * indice)
    preserveRatio: true
    cursor: Cursor.HAND
    insert view into imgNodes;
    on an image loading function:
    for(indice in [0..batch]){
    imgNodes[indice].image = Image{
    width: 100
    height: 100
    url: imgs[firstItem+indice]
    preserveRatio: true
    backgroundLoading: true
    with backgroundLoading set to true, the images are not displayed. When setting it to false, the images appear. So the urls passed to Image are ok.
    If I display the fields error and progress of the Image components, both have the value 0.
    I have other components that use preloading and they are working great before showing the problematic component. After, preloading does not work anymore.
    It looks like as if the thread used to preload images is blocked.
    Can anyone help me with it?
    Thanks in advance for your help
    Thomas

    I'm not shure but i think the only group component wich is updated after insert or delete is a Group, so there is the same problem with V/HBox.

  • Preloader problem

    Dear,
    i have a problem in my preloader, i have 2 scenes, first one
    the preloader and the another is the content of the site ( 10
    frames )
    the preloader start showing the loader in 56% not from 0% so
    the user have to wait from 0% to 56% with blank stage.
    even though, if i used the same preload but in only 1 frame
    in the content scene its will work great.
    i don't load anything from external movies, all my content in
    one scene...
    Thanks a lot...
    my code:

    Oh. You have so many things wrong with this project.
    First unless you are publishing to Flash 5 you shouldn't be
    using onClipEvents(). That was a style of coding that went out in
    2001 when Flash 6 was introduced and has a lot of drawbacks and no
    advantages. (Well unless you need to publish to Flash 5!) Here is a
    really good blog on the issue:
    http://www.quip.net/blog/2006/flash/museum-pieces-on-and-onclipevent
    Okay the next issue is that you really shouldn't use scenes.
    They were a great tool to help timeline animators organize their
    content. But when you start to use code it starts to breakdown.
    There are several tricky little problems that crop up when you
    start using code that moves the playhead and scenes. So it is
    better to not put them on scenes. Instead just put your first
    "scene" on frame one. And then maybe move over to frame 100 and
    start your second "scene." When you publish your swf all the scenes
    are strung together in one long timeline and the "scenes" are gone
    per se.
    Next issue is the one you actually are asking about. All the
    content in frame 1 (the actual frame one after all the scenes are
    strung together) must be loaded before any code on that screen can
    start to execute.
    So if you have any components, even if they are only in the
    library and you aren't using them, will put a lot of content into
    frame 1. If you have a bunch of library assets set to export for
    actionscript those usually are in frame one as well.
    Otherwise, you can go to the publish settings and switch to
    the flash tab. There is a check box for generate a size report.
    When you publish you will also get a text file that shows you how
    much content is in your file and where it is.

  • Preloader problem - feel like an idiot

    I feel like a total idiot. I can't seem to get my
    preloader to work. Here's my code. What am I doing wrong? The
    problem is that myApp.swf loads successfully but the .onEnterFrame
    function thinks that loader_mc is 1 frame and 0 bytes long.

    Again, I much appreciate your help. I had put some trace
    statements in trying to find out what getBytesLoaded/Total were and
    they were coming back with values I didn't understand, so I kept
    thinking it was trying to get the values of the empty_mc I had
    instantiated instead of the thing I was trying to load and I kept
    scratching my head as to why and tried a lot of different things
    and was baffled. At any rate, in the end I think it's a timing
    issue if I understand correctly. In other words, I think the
    function started executing before it could really grab the correct
    information about the .swf that I was trying to load. Is that
    right?
    Oh well, I'm out of the ditch with that silly problem now and
    moving on to my next set of challenges. :-)
    Again, thank you so VERY much for being a willing helping
    hand to us newbies out here.

  • Preloader Problem in CP5

    I'm having the same problem - see my last posts in the thread. The only difference is - all AS3 preloaders don't show up in my case, but with old AS2 preloaders from Cp4, I am getting exactly the same pattern: the animation runs in a loop until the whole clip is loaded. You can try Cp4 AS2 preloaders to see if it makes any difference.
    I don't think jscript may affect that issue. The preloader should load correctly, even if you run swf file directly without html shell.

  • T400 XP Presentation Director Problem

    I just did a clean install of XP on T400, and could not get Presentation Director to work.
    Whenever I was trying to apply or test a scheme (even the "Captured display settings" with no external monitor), I got this error message "The following settings you have selected cannot be applied properly. Change the setting and try again.
    Display Configuration".
    I suspect there was a conflict between Presention Director and Catalyst Control Center.(CCC could control the displays without problem.)
    The lenovo ATI driver was just released in March, while the PD was released last year.
    Could that be a problem? I am reluctant to downgrade to old ATI driver. Did Lenovo not test their drivers for compatibilty before release?
    If anyone has solved similar problems before, please advise.
    T400 2767
    XP SP3 clean install
    Presentation Director  4.32   02    2009/09/11
    ATI Driver  8.712-100302b-097094C-Lenovo
    Hotkey feature 3.02.0001
    BIOS: Discrete Display only
    The problem is 100% reproducible with above settings.

    Been there, but its been a while, and although I can't give you an exact step-by-step solution, I hope given the urgency on your side that I can point you in a direction you haven't gone or gone far enough in.  I fixed the same nagging problem by working with both the basic and Advanced menus at: Desktop Right-Click>Display Properties>Settings.  In particular check all settings for both displays in the tabs of the Advanced menu.  It is a careful process to be sure you check the properties of EACH monitor and not just run through them once which will apply for just the default monitor.  The cause in my case was a conflict of a setting between the Presentation Director and the Display Settings.  You may do best if you nix the presentation director while getting the settings sorted out.  Also, ATI has a great display management program similar to Windows' Presentation Director.  I am sorry to be strapped on time as I write this.  You may have been through everything I suggest, but I do hope something I wrote helps you get it fixed. I'll check back when possible today.  TSRing

  • Microsoft SQL 2005 preload problem

    Hi Guys,
    First post! I took receipt of my W520 a few weeks ago. It is great, very pleased with it on the whole.
    There is one problem, however. I play a fair amount of recreational card games over the internet. This requires a program which converts the text file “hand histories” into postgreSQL server data to make it quickly readable and provide tracking for win/loss among a whole host of other statistical things.
    Unfortunately after going through their troubleshooting numerous times, going through factory restore and repeating the process, I still cannot get my SQL server to automatically start. Believe me, I have tried everything. Running them all as admin, editing the startup in the windows “services” dialog etc etc. The server does start manually and the program works fine, but every time I start it I have to do it manually and it is irritating. It should just start up in the background but it doesn’t.
    I believe it is the Microsoft SQL 2005 express that is somehow blocking the auto start. Basically, I want my Lenovo as it is, just without the preloaded SQL server. Using the factory restore just reloads it back on and when I manually uninstall the SQL server I still have the same problem. I believe it leaves a lot of little nuggets behind when you uninstall it through the standard W7 “uninstall a program” and the full uninstall looks a long and difficult process, with no guarantee of really removing everything.
    So, the plan is to install a bare copy of W7 using a borrowed disk, install my own personal SQL program and test to see if that works. I am almost certain it will. From there, I plan to build back my programs on top so I essentially have my PC now, bar the bundled SQL 2005 express or whatever it is. Following this I will make a system image and store it away safely to avoid all this mess and only reinstall using the factory disks if absolutely necessary.
    I have my W7 OEM serial, found using a serial grabber. Obviously I didn’t pay all this money to scrap all the useful thinkvantage tools like “airbag” and basic fingerprint/camera drivers etc. I also like the realtime warranty countdown timer. How should I go about this task? Is all I need is the PC serial underneath to reload thinkvantage at a later date with full functionality? Is there anything I should consider before starting?
    If there is a better subforum to post this question in, please let me know.
    Many thanks,
    Nick

    What is service dependency?
    Yes I tried to make a batch file. Not in startup folder, but one on the desktop that had the right path. This returned an error from the statistical program and not the SQL server. It initially looked hopeful as I had it start up the "start server" option for the right SQL server. This opened up the dos window and said it had correctly started. However, when the stats program launched it hung up on loadscreen and returned an error message. Not sure why this was, but it didn't seem to like being loaded through a .bat.
    This seems like a work around more than a solution anyway. I just want to get it to work properly.
    Here is the thread in the database analaysis program forum for your reference.

  • Another preloader problem

    all,
    i'm also having a strange problem. i am also using the lynda.com tutorial. i got frustrated when it didn't work, then recreated my movie step by step.
    rebuilt the file with all layers on frame 2. frame 1 is blank except for the dynamic text/preloader code in the actions layer.
    everything tested fine.
    later, as i built the movie out (to about frame 500), the preloader counter stopped working*.
    *i just figured out the counter issue: under properties panel (with a movie clip selected), under the 'export for actionscript' the option to 'export in frame 1' selected, disables the visual counter in my preloader.
    next, i comment out the entire 1st frame coding (stop and preloader text) and the movie plays fine and stops at the end.
    when i enable the "stop();" code, the playhead stops on the 1st frame—so that part works.
    the problem comes when i remove the comment in the preloader text:
    • test mode: frame stops at 2 (only the background shows, the playhead doesn't continue)
    the problem of the playhead staying at frame 2 still exists. it's making me crazy!
    i'm on a mac, osx (snow leopard), mac pro dual/quad core, 8gb ram
    any help would be greatly appreciated.
    the file can be downloaded here:
    http://www.roguedog.com/files/design/clients/d1r3.fla.zip

    when loading is complete you're directing the play head to the next frame (2) and stopping it.  if you want the playhead to advance to the next frame and play use:
    stop();
    //Preloader
    loaderInfo.addEventListener(ProgressEvent.PROGRESS, updatePreloader);
    function updatePreloader(evtObj:ProgressEvent):void
         //container for the progress of the site (download)
         var percent:Number = Math.floor((evtObj.bytesLoaded*100)/evtObj.bytesTotal);
         preloader_txt.text = percent+"%";
         if (percent==100) {
             play();

  • Presenter Display Problem

    I updated to Mavericks and Keynote 6 last night. This morning I find that my class presentations do not display correctly. I have an external monitor (not via AppleTV) connected (and a projector in the classroom), and when I play the presentation the presentation appears to be overlaid on top of the presenter display on my main screen. I can see the edges of the presenter display under the main presentation screen (which is on my main monitor). The seconday monitor simply displays my desktop. This appears to be a Keynote problem since the seconday display appears to be working fine with everything except Keynote. If the solution is to change one of the settings in the presenter display, I am in trouble, since I cannot get to the presenter display controls as they are covered up by the display screen when I go to presentation mode. There appears to be no other way to access the presenter display settings (why aren't they in the Preferences?). The only way that I can find to view the display on the external monitor is to set the screens to mirror, but then (of course) I loose the presenter display entirely.
    Any ideas?

    In another thread, macmine and mainman1303 identified an useful workaround. Here is what you need to do:
    1) Make sure the new version of Keynote has an icon on the dock.
    2) Control-click on the dock icon, and go to the options.
    3) Change the setting from 'Desktop on Display 1' to 'All Desktops'
    4) When you run your presentation the first time the presenter display may come up on the projector/external monitor. If so, press the 'x' key to swap monitors (or use the icon in the upper left corner of the presenter display. After that it should work fine.
    This seems to solve the problem, but there is still a bug here that needs to get fixed. And the options (and others) should be in the preference settings, not buried in an obscure place like the dock icon.
