Presenter to Blackboard: ZIP or PDF?

What have you found is the best format to upload Presenter files to Blackboard LMS? Should I publish the presentation as a ZIP file or a PDF? Which format results in a smaller total file size? Which way is most compatible with Blackboard and Mac/PC machines?
Thanks!
Lisa

You are going to need to upload the zip format if you want to connect to SCORM.  I am sure that you are aware that learner performance can be fed directly into your gradebook that way.
PDFs may be useful in creating materials that learners may download or for combining multiple document types into a single file.
There would be no advantage to PDFs that I could see if all you want is learner access through Bb.

Using Adobe Presenter 7 when published to PDF video files do not just a blank page, any ideas? I am using office 2010 and Adobe Acrobat 9 on my PC any suggestions would be very helpful as the audio and slides work fine though no SWF files work just a blank white screen
    Thanks

The problem seems to be with Acrobat 9. Can you share any such pdf generated from presenter at [email protected]
Alternatively, you can try to download Adobe Reader 10 http://get.adobe.com/reader/?promoid=JZEFU and try to view the published output usingthe same.

  • Mail not recognizing ZIP and PDF attachments

Since upgrading to Leopard, I have received a few emails with attachments in my work IMAP account. Some of the emails are fine (the ones with XLS and DOC attachments) and others display the attachment as a bunch of encoded text in the email (ZIP and PDF files).
Thunderbird can read all the emails just fine, so I think that the problem is that some kind of mail setting is screwed up or it is a bug in the Apple mail client.
Does anyone know why Apple mail would not recognize the data as an attachment?
Here is an example of what shows up in my email:
    --Apple-Mail-17-830733730

We are having a problem were Preview cannot display the text of an attached PDF in an email. Really strange. Shows the formatting of lines and grids graphics etc. But the text is blank.
Acrobat can open and show the file, the text is there.

  • How to ZIP a PDF file email attachment

    Hi,
We have an ABAP report requirement to send an email to a user. This program will send an email with PDF attachement. However, the PDF attachment is quite big (9MB) and our email server couldn't handle it (5MB only). Is there any way to ZIP this PDF file attachment?
I am using a SAP release 4.6C with OS WinNT. And the ABAP program should be able to run in Foreground/Background.
Thanks for your help in advance...
    Kind regards,

  • Outside In:Converting attachment present in the .msg to PDF

    Hi,
I looked in the Oracle outside in documentation where it is mentioned that message file (.msg) can be converted to pdf.But i am unable to find any sample C\C++ code to convert the attachment present in that files.
I was under the impression that usage of following work will just (Just like these functions works for .zip files and .pst file ).
    DAGetTreeCount
    DAGetTreeRecord
    DASaveTreeRecord
But , the DAGetTreeCount return 0,for the .msg file with attachments.
Kindly let me know any sample code to do that same in outside In. Or do i need to have some other third party library to read the attachment in the msg files.
Kindly reply ASAP as i will accordingly decide whether to go ahead buyying oracle outside In or Aspose.
    Regards

This would be a 2 step process:
    1. Create a word document from a word template and data in InfoPath Xml using OfficeOpenXml API and save it in a library/temp folder.
    2. Using Word Automation services, convert this word document into PDF.

  • HT3697 I am trying to convert a Keynote Presentation to a cross platform PDF file. When using export it creates a 30mb file when it only need to be 2-3mb and so cant email or use it very easily. How do I get the file size down?

I'm trying export a Keynote presentation to PDF, or other format, to use on Windows PC, iPad and other devices.
The file Keynote create is way too large at 30mb+. So cant email or share it very easily
If I print it and to Adobe PDF I can get it to 3mb, but have to crop it manually, and some settings or graphics are not so good or accdeptable!
Does anyone know how to do this?

Use Dropbox to send large files that cant be sent using email:

  • Presentation variable problem in PDF generation

    Hi,
I have created the custom field using the following code
*case when (V_balance.yr<=@{var_year}{2009} and V_balance.yr>=@{var_year-3}{2006}) then 1 else 0 end*
Use this field I have created the filter and remove the field from report.
When I run the report with different prompts, its working fine as I expected in dashboard.
But when I generate the PDF for different prompt values ( var_year=2008 ) , I got same result. That is its generate var_year=2009 (default presentation variable)
Its generate the pdf with 'presentation variable default values' instead of presentation variable.
How could I rectify this problem.
    Any one facing this problem.
Is there any alternative for this condition
    Note:
    We are using bise1 10.1.3.2.1
but I got a right answer in obiee 10.1.3.4.0
    Thanks

This is a known issue in 10.1.3.2. Oracle solved this problem in the new upgraded 10.1.3.4. Check the Meta link for the service request numbers raised for this problem. How hard it would be for you to migrate to 10.1.3.4.

  • Bring back PDF Presentation...

Hi for some reason in CS4 they got rid of the PDF Presentation option. I find this a amazing too. Many times when I have lots of windows open this is the easiest way to combine them in a PDF ready to send to the client.
For the life of me I can't understand why you got rid of this feature.
    Please bring it back!!!

I hope everyone in this thread is aware that you are supposed to use Bridge now to do this. Its fairly efficient, and has a lot of options as far as I can see.
There are several things that make PDF Presentation and LayerComps to PDF superior to the Output Module in Bridge.
First, if one has several images of the same size that they simply want to create a PDF from at the native resolution, it is easy to do with PDF Presentation. Setting up the proper document size, resolution, layout, etc. in Bridge is cumbersome, by comparison.
Second, in order to create a multi-page PDF document in Bridge, you have to save those files separately in Photoshop, then jump to Bridge, then create the PDF. Suppose your protocol requires you to save intermediary files, they you may have dozens or hundreds of potentially large, multi-layered documents that take up gigabytes of space in this scenario.
Third, with LayerComps to PDF, the case is even stronger. In this case you have only one document, but may have hundreds of LayerComps. To create a multipage PDF document you have to export each LayerComp to a separate file, save them, navigate to Bridge, then deal with creating the PDF document in the same resolution, etc. Even if you don't have a requirement to save intermediary files, you have spend considerable time and used substantial hard drive space to create those intermediary files that didn't used to need to be created.
The Output Module in Bridge is great - but it isn't a replacement for PDF Presentation or for LayerComps to PDF. A common workflow for me now takes substantially longer, is more difficult to accomplish, and creates hundreds of intermediary files that I have no need of.

  • Pdf/zip arrive damaged through ftp

I'm using FTP to send our pdf files to our printers. I'm using Filezilla on a Mac. The printing office use pc's to download the pdf files. A lot of time the pdf files arrive damaged and can't be opened. I though to fix this by zipping all pdf files into one zip file and sending that through FTP instead. But this morning the zip file arrived damaged anyway. It doesn't happen all the time, but often.
What is causing these damaged pdf files when sending them from a mac to a pc with FTP? And why didn't it help by sending a zip file instead and did that one get damaged too?

I already thought of that and set transfer to binary in Filezilla for Mac. But pdf files or zipped files still arrive corrupted in some way at the pc end. I checked it by uploading a zip file and immediately downloading it back. The original zip file could be opened but the uploaded/downloaded one couldn't. The only different thing I can think of is the way I'm connected. Our company firewall doesn't normally allow connection to ftp sites other than our own departments. Filezilla seems to get through, but by a detour. For the ftp address I fill in our own proxy server and for username I use 'username @ ftp.externalsite.nl'. So where server would be ftp.externalsite.nl and the username would be 'username', I let it go through our proxy as servername. This way I can get a connection. Could it be that going through our proxy first, the firewall does something with the file first (scanning, processing etc.) before actually sending it further to ftp.externalsite.nl?

  • The Refiner Result type: When refine by result type: PDF or Zip sometimes files which are images are shown (not pdf or zip)

    Hi,
We use Search Refiners and there is a strange problem: when we refine by the Refiner Result type: Zip and PDF we also get files which are gif files.
    keren tsur

    Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that you get the gif files sometimes when you refiner the Result Type PDF or ZIP.
I try to do this test in my environment, however, the result is I get the corresponding PDF file and don’t get the gif files by Refiner the PDF Result Type in Search Center.
Do you get all gif files by the Refiner Result Type: PDF or ZIP in Search Center?
And, do you see these gif files under the Refiner Result Type: Image?
I recommend that you can try to respectively type the “PDF”, “ZIP” and “gif” in search box to compare the search results.
Also, you can try to go to SharePoint 2013 Central Administration, click “Search Service Application” in “Manage service application”, click the “Index Reset” to reset all crawled content, then start Full Crawl again.

  • Interactive PDF presentation

    Hello,
I have a problem. I needo to do a presentation in full screen in pdf format. I want to put it on a CD. It needs to autorun upon inserting the CD and automaticaly open in FULLSCREEN !!! How do i make it to skip the popup window asking if a viewer wants it in full screen? Is it possible ?

    Thanks for your response.
For doing our designs we use InDesign.
So it would be less time consuming to use the same objects, fonts etc in the same software.
The linked data is updated automatically and we can work with the same formats. And InDesign makes it much easier to do a nice presentation
Is there maybe an option in Acrobat to view two documents on different screens?

  • How to convert Presenter PDF presentation into MP4?

Hi could someone please tell me how to convert a Presenter PDF presentation into MP4? To clarify, Presenter was used to create PDF presentations with voice over the powerpoint slides. I would like to take the PDFs and convert them to MP4s using Presenter or any other way. Would appreciate any assistance that could be provided.

Pardon my reply. This a.m. I studied the documents that transfered nicely after being passed through Acrobat Pro to MS Word and the ones that did not. Those that did were mostly black and white and the cells were not as complex. The ones that transferred but with bad formatting had cells in red, instructions in the margins, with some lettering in red but most lettering in black. Both the first set and the last set carried the suffix .pdf .
