Preserver or not to preserve

SCCM 2012 R2
When I captured by virtual images for use in OSD, I used the "Create Task Sequence Media Wizard, Capture media" feature built into SCCM.
Not knowing whether it uses the OSDPreserveDriveLetter variable True or False....
So my question is...
In my Win7 and Win8 OSD Task Sequencse(s) should I be setting the "OSDPreserveDriveLetter" variable to True or False?
Reason: Right now I have it set to FALSE and randomly and a small percentage of the time the OS lands on the D or E drive.
I set to FALSE based on this article
http://sccmfaq.wordpress.com/2013/02/14/sccm-2012-sp1-install-windows-7-to-drive-letter-c/

It is a good article. You want to honour the drive letter stored in your wim if set to C: drive so therefore set to True.
'With my 32 bit PE I was able to add 32 and 64 bit drivers, can I do that with 64 bit PE also, add both 32 and 64?'
The 64-bit boot.wim can boot 64-bit UEFI and 64-bit BIOS PCs. The 32-bit boot.wim can boot 32-bit UEFI, 32-bit BIOS, and 64-bit BIOS PCs.

  • Importing clips from iMovie HD does not preserve capture date

    Hi,
    I am importing iMovie HD projects into iMovie 09.
    The clips in iMovie HD (originally imported from DV) have the correct capture date/time on them.
    However, when I import these clips into iMovie 09, it does not preserve these dates for the events but instead chooses to use the "file create date/time" as the event date time.
    Is this info lost forever in iMovie 09 or is there some setting that can use the original clip capture date info as the event date/time?
    Thanks.

    Hi,

    Can anyone tell me how to preserve the excel formatting for WAD template.
    Thanks,

    Hi Roy
    Have you got the report set to bring back a specific number of rows at a time (ie retrieve data incrementally in sets of : setting in options)?
    If so set this to a larger number of rows, Discoverer will then return all data when the reports is run and will export all data to the spreadsheet.
    Hope this helps

  • Printing from Word 2008 to PDF does not preserve hyperlinks

    Hi,
    I have discovered that when I print a Word 2008 (ver. 12.2.4) document to PDF format using Mac OS X version 10.6.2, some of the hyperlinks are lost.
    Links where the hyperlink address is visible in the document are preserved, while all others are lost. Interestingly, the PDF shows the text with the hyperlink as if it still has a hyperlink, but the link does not function. I have posted an illustration:
    - original Word document (zipped): http://people.trentu.ca/~rloney/files/hyperlinktestword-to-PDF.zip
    - converted PDF document: http://people.trentu.ca/~rloney/files/hyperlinktestword-to-PDF.pdf
    I've tested this with both .doc and .docx formats and there is no effect, nor does it matter whether I print as PDF using Mac OS X, or convert the Word file to PDF using Adobe Acrobat ver. 9.3. I have run the same test with Apple's TextEdit and all links are preserved, so this appears to be specific to Word on the Mac.
    Has anyone had any experience with this? Any work around?
    I will try to find a place I can report this to Microsoft as a bug.
    Thank you,
    Rob

    Let's try a repair install of iTunes.
    Restart the PC first.
    If you're using Vista or 7, now head into your Uninstall a program control panel, select "iTunes" and then click "Repair".
    If you're using XP, head into your Add or Remove Programs control panel, select "iTunes", and click "Change". Select "Repair" and click "Next" as per the following screenshot:
    Can you launch your iTunes now?

  • Windows file attributes not preserved

    Hi,
    When Windows(XP) clients connect to file shares (from a 10.4.7 server) and open the Properties dialog for a file, they are able to set the various Attributes (Read-only, Hidden, Archive).
    However, on re-opening the Properties dialog, they find that the attribute settings they have made have not been preserved. (ie. All attributes checkboxes are unchecked.)
    Does anybody know if there are any settings I need to change on the server to enable support for Windows file attributes?
    Thanks in advance,

    Hypertext links are not always preserved from Word to PDF, using Aperçu or Adobe, depending on OS 10 or Lion. Why? This generally works perfectly in Windows. Why are Apple and Adobe unable to correctly handle links when converting from Word to PDF?
    Depending on the system version, and Office Word version:
    - a pure URL link starting with http or even www sometimes works in PDF, either produced by Aperçu or Adobe, sometimes does not work;
    - other kind of links where the text under display is not a URL, never work!
    I like everything with Apple computers and software, except PDF generation. Output files are usually bigger in size, and no better quality, than under Windows. Furthermore, it is weird that something as common as hyperlinks does not work correctly!
    I related this question with Mac OS X Snow Leopard, but the problem is still there with Mac OS Lion.
    This problem seems to have been around for years, without any proper solution from Apple and/or Adobe! To me, this is very embarrassing!

    Greetings NoNameGiven,
    If I understand the problem correctly (I’m not sure I do) you would prefer ‘iii’ to be read as “eye eye eye” rather than “three”? The alt text property is the only way that I know of to make this happen. Hope this helps.

  • Whitespaces in XML during message mapping not preserved

    I use a twostep mapping process during Interface Mapping. The first one is the standard message mapping and the second one is a Java mapping. However, during the second step, the white spaces that should be preserved from the output of the first mapping is not there anymore. I created the XSD and specified in the details that the white spaces should be preserved.
    I need the whitespaces since the output of the second mapping would be used for file content conversion in a file adapter to create the output:
    MSGTYP CONTROLNOMSGID VALUE1VALUE2 VALUEn.....
    Is there any way to preserve the white spaces?
    Thanks!
    Best Regards,
    Rommel Mendoza

    This is odd. Java won't condense/trim the whitespaces unless explicitely told so.
    Where are you seeing the missing whitespaces?
    Please notice that SXMB_MONI won't show the spaces because it uses a HTML representation of the XML (and, by default, HTML condenses the whitespaces). But the actual XML file should have all the spaces (check the XML document source code, through mouse right click over payload, to be sure).
    Also, what are the conversions you do in the java mapping?
    Are you sure the java mapping input has the whitespaces?
    Regards,
    Henrique.

  • Accesing to the BPM Composer Web Page - Error : CurrencyKey not preserved

    Hi there,
    I've recently installed the Soa Suite 11.1.1.4, and when i logged in th BPM Composer and I try to use any option of the web page, i can see in the log the next error :
    ]] Root cause of ServletException.
    java.lang.AssertionError: CurrencyKey not preserved
         at org.apache.myfaces.trinidad.component.UIXCollection.encodeEnd(UIXCollection.java:531)
    With this error i can't navigate inside the BPM Composer Web page, any idea about this problem?
    Regards

    The solution to this issue, is adding in the CMDLINE of the Register Service the next value -da:org.apache.myfaces.trinidad.component.UIXCollection, with this option we disable the assertion of java, after that i can work with the BPM Composer Web Application

  • Preserving 'White' areas, but not backgrounds, in an image trace

    Hi there all
    I've got a little graphic that I'm working on at the moment. I am trying to trace it using the Image Trace feature in illustrator.
    Everything's hunky dory apart from the fact that the original graphic has a lot of white features on it that I want to preserve. These white bits are not bordered so, in the main page of illustrator, they merge with the white background. When I go to use Image Trace, I can either select "Ignore white" which leaves out all of this white detailing, or I can deselect it which means that the trace then includes the white background and the whole image is set into an annoying box.
    Does anyone know how I can remedy this? I know in Photoshop, there's that checked background that shows when your work surface is empty. Is there a way of getting this same thing in Illustrator?
    Thanks!
    CF

    CF,
    It rather depends on the image.
    With Illy, you can use View>Show Transparency Grid or View>Show Grid to see whether there is a background, just as in Photoshop.
    In that way you can get rid of that non colour appearing as white, but it will not be included in Image Trace because it is not (included in the image).
    But if the image itself contains a white background, Image Trace will be unable to discern that from any other part of the image.
    So you may need to have the image in a format without the white background, such as PNG24 instead of JPEG, or with another colour as background.

  • White space not preserved with XSL Mapping

    Hello
    Is there a problem with preserving white space when using a XSL mapping? My schema has the following included:
                  <xs:element name="FileVersion" minOccurs="1" maxOccurs="1">
                    <xs:simpleType>
                      <xs:restriction base="xs:string">
                        <xs:length value="5"/>
                        <xs:whiteSpace value="preserve"/>
                      </xs:restriction>
                    </xs:simpleType>
                  </xs:element>
    The whiteSpace attribute alone didn't do it, so I've added length as well which didn't help either.
    My imported XSL mapping writes a fix value of " 6.00" (having a leading space) into the field:
         <FileVersion>
              <xsl:value-of select="' 6.00'"/>
         </FileVersion>
    Processing the mapping with an external tool provides the correct output with a leading space.
    The leading space is missing in the output file or when I do testing in the integration builder. Looking at the target payload in sxmb_moni also shows me the value without leading space:
      <FileVersion>6.00</FileVersion>
    What do I miss? I haven't really found a posting regarding the issue, hence I assume it isn't really one!? Any feedback is appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Daniel

    My XSLT mapping does not have a preserve-space declaration. I am using Altova MapForce, and apparently preserve-space is not a declaration that is supported by MapForce. I would need to manually add it to the mapping after generating it in the tool. Nevertheless, isn't preserve-space the default anyway if nothing is declared, and therefore not necessary?.

  • Oracle XSLT Transformation not preserving space in text element

    If we have a BPEL process which is calling a XSLT transformation contains the code similar as below:
    for Populating an element with white space only
    <tns:TargetField>
    <xsl:text disable-output-escaping="yes"> </xsl:text> <!--Note the whitespace , also tried with disable-output-escaping =”no” -->
    </tns: TargetField>
    Our expected result / output would be:
    <tns:TargetField> </tns: TargetField> <!--Note the whitespace -->
    But, we get:
    <tns:TargetField/>
    Oracle XSLT is ignoring the white space even if we try with preserve space in XSD, or in XSLT this is not producing the expected output.
    This looks a BUG with Oracle XSLT Transformation .
    For a workaround solution we can use below XSLT snippet:
    *<tns:TargetField>*
    *<xsl:value-of select="string(' ')"/> <!--Note the whitespace -->*
    *</tns:TargetField>*
    This is returning Output:
    *<tns:TargetField> </tns:TargetField> <!--Note the whitespace -->*
    Any other work around do you find?
    Edited by: panks on Jul 29, 2011 12:37 PM

    The workaround only works with one white space, if one put more white spaces, it do not work.
    <tns:TargetField>
    <xsl:value-of select="string(' ')"/> <!--Note the whitespaces -->
    </tns:TargetField>
    This is returning Output:
    <tns:TargetField> </tns:TargetField> <!--Note the only one whitespace -->

  • IDCS3: Why Does DOCX Import Not Preserve Internal Word Links?

    I have the task of importing Word docs into InDesign/InCopy such that Word-defined internal links are accurately reflected in InDesign. CS3 does a pretty good job of importing .docx files from a formatting standpoint, but it doesn't preserve internal links (e.g., Word hyperlinks that point to Word bookmarks).
    Looking at how hyperlinks are represented in ID/IC and how they're represented in Word I can't see any obvious reason why InDesign wouldn't be able to preserve them: there appears to be a good match between the two formats (Word bookMark maps to ID named anchor, Word hyperlink to a bookmark maps to ID hyperlink to a bookmark). Word bookMarks have a lot of potential complexity for other things (e.g., expressions and formulas), but that's no reason to simply discard or ignore all bookmarks and links. At least that's my initial analysis--I can't claim to have thought through the problem is as great a depth as the ID implementors have.
    I can implement the processing on the Word end to produce something I can then process in InDesign to reconstitute the links, but I'd rather not have to if InDesign can do it for me.
    Anyway, just curious.
    Thanks,
    Eliot

    Per previous discussion here: I'm importing book text from Word docs into InDesign text that does not have complicated tables or tabbing but has footnotes and a lot of italic, bold italic, and bold text. / My impression is that the best way to import text using InDesign's Place command is to keep it simple and select 'Remove styles and formatting' and 'Preserve Local Overrides' under 'Formatting'. This seems the best guarantee that italic, bold, and bold italic line-level styling in the Word doc will be preserved. / But as to retaining paragraph styling of, say, indented quotes, this then gets lost. Is there any particular way text should be paragraph-styled in the Word doc, to enhance what comes over into InDesign? (I noted that it seems best not to base Word paragraph styles on 'Normal', for instance.) I'm hesitant to ask this, since using InDesign's Place > 'Preserve styles and formatting from text and tables' import option seems to lead to lots of messy complications. Anyway, I need to preserve the line-level italic and bold styling if nothing else.

  • Original file name preserved in metadata but not being found in searches (Mac)

    I have a large collection of images (a mix of raw, tif, and jpg files) that I would like to rename. Because some are referred to in other documents by their original names, and because I can't track down every single version that might exist in other folders, I would like to preserve their original (current) filenames in their metadata so that searching for these old names will locate the renamed files.
    I experimented by renaming a few JPGs with the "Preserve current filename in XMP Metadata" option checked. While the original filename does appear in the metadata under "Camera Raw," it does not turn up in searches performed using command-f (in Finder), Spotlight, or even Bridge. I have not yet tried this on TIFs or raw files, but:
    What am I doing wrong?
    Technical details:
    Bridge CS6
    Mac OS 10.6.8
    MacBook Pro
    Final note: Bridge does not seem to generate a sidecar xmp file. Would it do this for a jpg?
    Thank you for the help!

    I tried it and it works for me.  It inserts the preserved filename under the filename line.  You probably need this field checked in metadata preferences.
    It looks like the preserved file name is stored in the XMP sidecar data.  I tried a test Find but the preserved filename does not show up.
    If one slips up on the batch rename, or go back to original, one can revert to original by going back to batch rename and selecting "preserved filename" in new filenames box.
