Preserving (and printing) the final version
I'm not a commercial photographer (such as wedding photography) so issues of economy are not critical to my three questions. Also, I process everything in Aperture and it meets all of my needs for that purpose. I do not require any further image manipulation.
1. Out of many images, a very small number that I have are versions that I want to preserve. Looking through a variety of comments in this forum I've concluded that the best way to save a "perfect" version is to export is as a 16 bit tiff (and import it back in to Aperture for cataloging and tweaks if needed for printing), saving the tiff version and original RAW file. Any comments on this?
2. Some older images have jpeg masters. Is there any reason to save them as 16 bit tiff files as opposed to 8 bit tiff files. I ask because I tried both and thought the 16 bit looked very slightly better, but this may have been a trick of the eye or just random.
3. I have been printing directly from Aperture and have no complaints, but also no reference to compare. Is there any reason why I should export my files and print from, for example, Photoshop Elements or another image processing application. I would have no other reason to buy a separate application because Aperture offers all the processing that I require.

You can drag and drop a file from TM to the desktop.

The file hierachy in TM follows the same logic as on your hard drive. Navigate to the date you want, find the file you want, and drag and drop it where you want it to be. Because you changed the name of the most recent version you can both files in the same space.
I do this often.
But remember if you make a back up now you will end up with both versions in TM.

To get a Free copy that can be updated, you need to have a paid developer membership, at a minimum cost of at least US$100/ annually. (This may also include one Developer Tech Support incident and other benefits.)
Apple has lowered the cost of new versions of Mac OS X to about US$20. If Mavericks is released at about that price, buying a legitimate copy instead of depending on a quirky developer version that cannot be updated should not be a difficult decision. -
We are trying to implement a process so that any document that needs to be printed through our Java application will be printed as PDF using Adobe Reader. Current Situation: The above command line parameter when executed is working as expected in a User's Workspace. When executed in a command line on the Application Server is working as expected. But, the same is not working while executing it from Deployed environment.Software being used: 1. Adobe 11.0 enterprise version. 2. Webshpere Application Server 8.5.5.2. Please let us know if there is a way to enable trace logs in Adobe Reader to further diagnose this issue.

The main differences between iTunes 11 and earlier versions are the loss of coverflow and ability to have multiple windows open.
In Windows, you can restore much of the look & feel of iTunes 10.7 with these shortcuts:
ALT to temporarily display the menu bar
CTRL+B to show or hide the menu bar
CTRL+S to show or hide the sidebar
CTRL+/ to show or hide the status bar (won't hide for me on Win XP)
Click the magnifying glass top right and untick Search Entire Library to restore the old search behaviour
Use View > Hide <Media Kind> in the cloud or Edit > Preferences > Store and untick Show iTunes in the cloud purchases to hide the cloud items. The second method eliminates the cloud status column (and may let iTunes start up more quickly)
If you don't like having different coloured background & text in the Album (Grid) view use Edit > Preferences > General and untick Use custom colours for open albums, movies, etc.
With iTunes 11.0.3 and later you can enable artwork in the Songs view from View > Show View Options (CTRL+J) making it more like the old Album List view
View > Show View Options (CTRL+J) also contains options to change the sorting of grid based views
The cloud icons give you access to stream or download any qualifying past purchases that you don't currently have downloaded to the library.
Regarding duplicates, things haven't really changed. Apple's official advice is here... HT2905 - How to find and remove duplicate items in your iTunes library. It is a manual process and the article fails to explain some of the potential pitfalls.
Use Shift > View > Show Exact Duplicate Items to display duplicates as this is normally a more useful selection. You need to manually select all but one of each group to remove. Sorting the list by Date Added may make it easier to select the appropriate tracks, however this works best when performed immediately after the dupes have been created. If you have multiple entries in iTunes connected to the same file on the hard drive then don't send to the recycle bin. Use my DeDuper script if you're not sure, don't want to do it by hand, or want to preserve ratings, play counts and playlist membership. See this thread for background and please take note of the warning to backup your library before deduping.

HT2506 How to print the cropped version of a pdf
Hello, I have successfully cropped a document in preview (OS 10.8 ) and it displays perfectly on the screen. My problem is that when I print it, Preview prints the uncropped version, and I can't find a way telling it to do otherwise.
I even tried printing the cropped version to pdf, but that didn't work either. Have I missed a trick somewhere ?I just tested this and it worked fine for me.
When you select to print the cropped page, in the print dialog will be a thumbnail of what is about to be printed. Does this display just the cropped portion or the whole page? -

i have iOS 7 beta 6 on my 4s how am i supposed to update it to the final version of iOS 7. when i go to settings>genral>sftware update it shows that its up to date but my iphone 4 had ios 6 so when i updated that it got more wallpapers and ringtones whivh are not there in the beta. and beat 6 has some volume bug which decreases the volume my iphone 4 is faster.
Since only developers had legitimate access to the beta builds, consult them..your fellow developers...on the dev forums.

Best way to archive the final version of Aperture?
I'm not going to migrate to Photos, and I'm still running 3.4.5 on 10.7.5. I don't want to upgrade now, but I won't have a choice when I buy a new computer.
I want to have the final version of Aperture available to me when that happens. I'm moving to LR, but I still want access to my Aperture library.

DLSYou first have to install it, then copy the installed version from the Applications folder to a backup drive. Applications from the App Store are stand-alone versions. You can restore them by copying them back from a backup. And if you upgraded to Aperture 3.6, the App Store should show it in your Purchases for downloading again, even if it will no longer be sold at the AppStore.
But before you can back it up, you need to install the upgrade. The update is only available from the AppStore, not from the downloads page, and the App Store will only show you the update, if you have a compatible MacOS X version installed. You can only update to Aperture 3.6 from a Mac that is running Aperture 3.6.
Both Photos and iPhoto will be able to open your Aperture Library for browsing. But you would need iPhoto 9.6.1 and this update also requires a Mac running Yosemite.
There's no way to archive the app to disk? What happens if someone has a hard drive failure after they pull it from the App Store? Are they just out of luck?
I'm bot sure, if I understood your question correctly, DLS, but you an always restore Aperture from your Time Machine backup or bootable clone.
Only, you cannot download a version of Aperture, if your installed MacOS X is not compatible with that version. To be able to archive Aperture 3.6 now, you need first a compatible system. -

If you did not make a backup of the old version of the app before you deleted it, there's no way you can get it back now. The current version should still work on your iPhone 3GS, though. You just need iOS 4.3 or later, so if your iPhone still has an older version, update to the latest iOS.
If, however, you really have an iPhone 3G, not a 3GS, then unless again you make a backup copy of the old version of the app, there's nothing you can do until you're ready to get a newer iPhone since iOS 4.2.1 is the final version your iPhone 3G will run.

Need software which can send images to my editor, have them make selections, share them with me so I can edit the images and send the final results back to them. Will Lightroom work?
What I would like to do is to use Lightroom as I have been doing with LR 5.7. Tag certain images to be shared to the Creative Cloud which my editor can then see and tag as to which she would like to see final versions of. In the best case, I would then see these tags and edit the images as appropriate and save the JPEGs back to the Cloud where she can download them for final production.

I can not download the last Iphoto update that I already purchased it by app store, and in the actual version 9.4.3 it does not work the sending photos by e-mail.

Finally the Iphoto 9.5 was installed...any way ..I had to go to app store to purchase it because the previous version did not updated autimatically... only shoed me that there is a new version ...but it guided me to the app store to purchase it.... and I did it because I did not know that the up date was free...and the sistem did not adviced me about that...
I have the last up date of os x 10.9 already...
in this new version I have no problem to send the photos by e-mail... but in the previous one it allways showed me an error message like ¨I should try later because the server does not work¨ but I tryed with 4 differents e-mail account that worked perfectly in the app Mail.

I am very upset to discover that Cisco will no longer be supporting new software releases beyond 5.3.1 on the hardware that is widely deployed in my environment, including the core which is a pair of 7371 at 2 datacenter locations. Can anyone confirm if this is correct? Why would the WAVE-574/674 that just came out maybe 4-5 years ago not support anything beyond 5.3.1? What about version 6 coming out next year? What does this say about the future for WAAS?
Cisco WAAS, Release 5.3.1 is the final version that will support the WAE-674, WAE-7341, WAE-7371, WAVE-274, WAVE-474, and WAVE-574 platforms.

The last day of hardware support is not until August 31, 2017. So am I supposed to be stuck on 5.3.1 for the next 4 years and not take advantage of any new feature sets in the upcoming major releases? It's not like the WAVE series doesn't have enough CPU/memory to handle thew newer versions. I know the 7371 comes with plenty of juice to be able to support any new features you throw at it.

I have a MacBook Pro. How do I capture a still picture from a video in iMovie and print the still picture?
Click iMovie/About. If you have version 9.0.4 (iMovie 11) this will work. If you have an earlier version, this will also work, but there are also other ways.
First, get an app called MPEG Streamclip, which is free. (MPEG Streamclip from Squared 5)
Open MPEG Streamclip.
In iMovie, select the clip you need. Then, right-click/Reveal in Finder.
Drag this clip into MPEG Streamclip
In MPEG Streamclip, move the playhead to the frame you want.
In MPEG Streamclip, click FILE/EXPORT FRAME.
Choose JPEG, TIFF, or PNG and give it a name.
You can then drag this photo into iPhoto.
I have created a short video Tutorial on how to do this. There is one error in the Tutorial, where it says that Command-click is the same as right-click. I should have said Control-click instead. -
