Presets - 44000 sample/second audio?

Hi! I know in Pro you can customize your own presets, but Pro is too 'hard' to work with, Elements is much easier for me. I understand you cannot create your own custom project settings, but as I just browse through them, they all have 48000 audio. I need 44000.
Is it possible to do this?
I try 48000 but it just slows down the playback.
What can I do? Any suggestions? Thanks.
Kind of a stupid question, my apologies!
Under Edit> Project Settings> General I cannot modify audio

For DVD, the output format should be either PCM/WAV, or DD AC3 @ 48KHz 16-bit.
Now, if one starts with Audio with a 44KHz Sample-Rate, PrE will convert that to 48KHz Sample-Rate, at the time of Conforming. Nothing for you to do at that point.
For a bit of background, the 44.1KHz was the CD Sample-Rate, but 48KHz was chosen for DVD, and for SACD (Super Audio CD).
Another aspect of the Conforming process, and one that the user almost never even sees, is that the Audio is converted to 32-bit, floating point, for precise editing.
If you are going to DVD, then you want 48KHz 16-bit Audio. If you need other formats, then you might squeeze a little more space out of file size, by dropping the Audio Sample-rate down to the CD standard of 44.1KHz, but not by much. Personally, I would not worry about this. Now, if you absolutely do need the 44.1KHz, most formats will allow you to choose that.
Good luck,
Hunt
PS - For DVD, you cannot choose 44.1KHz, as that is not in the standard.

I have had an Audigy 2 ZS platinum for quite some time... and it is the coolest thing since sliced bread. I was running Splinter Cell Chaos Theory and some of the audio tracks weren't playing. I ran a dxdiag and to my surprise I found that I had a second audio device installed. This is quite odd for a number of reasons. I have not an onboard sound chip or a modem installed on my computer. Further inspection in the control panel "sounds and audio devices properties" tab showed the audigy AND the "Modem # Line Playback". WTF!? I corrected the problem in Splinter Cell by turning down the acceleration on the dxdiag console... but now in creative wavestudio when you copy and paste a secion of audio... well suffice it to say it is messed up. I turned the acceleration on the "modem line" back up and the problem went away. SO wavestudio is using the modem line as a playback device (even though the menu says it isnt)? The hardware device manager has no flags for conflicting devices... I checked BIOS for the remote possibility I had something onboard enabled (nadda). I am thinking perhaps a total driver uninstall/reinstall. Here is the copied text from my dxdiag. THANK YOU FOR ANY HELP YOU MIGHT BE ABLE TO PROVIDE!

Yes something is definitely not right B800 is not emulated if you have card, it should be (WDM). I did a dxdiag and do not have modem # showing. Reinstall seems the way to go.

  • SSD: for OS and apps, or for samples and audio?

I'm thinking about adding a 256 gig solid state drive; I currently have two 1TB drives. I tend to use large sample-based instruments - Play, Ivory, Vienna, Kontakt, Omnisphere, etc. - but not particularly great track counts. If I used it as the startup disk, 256 gigs would be way more than enough (because audio and video files are on other disks.) As a sample disk it would hold my most demanding and most often used libraries.
What would be the most efficient use of that SSD speed - OS and apps, or streaming samples and audio?

Thanks for the recommendation on size. I found a great answer to my question about file locations at:
    http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=12293000#12293000
Using the advanced Options (control click the active admin account) in the accounts pane in System Preferences, one can specify a new location for the home folder. Very practical and way easier than trying to go into all the app's libraries to tell them where their files are.
Now I can just copy my home folder to the internal drive, and delete it on the SSD. After a restart, this new location will be recognized as the correct home folder.

  • Separate drives for samples and audio files..?

    Hello all
I am moving to Macbook Pro (previous gen) with Logic Studio after years of PC (feel like I’m standing on the edge of a precipice staring anxiously down!). Will be looking to use it live in our 3-piece band to run existing MIDI Files and live triggered BFD drum samples
Have decided on getting an Echo AudioFire 8 to handle the necessary Audio outs and MIDI connections and will be replacing our rather dated Korg 05R/W General MIDI module with virtual instruments / samples libraries
I am thinking that once the Bass (probably Orange Tree CoreBass samples through Kontakt 3) and Orchestration (still wide open to suggestions on that!) are done, they’ll be exported as Audio files or perhaps ‘frozen’ in Logic to ease the load on real-time processing
    Here’s the query then:
*Assuming that the internal drive will be for OS and programs only, will having the sample libraries and exported audio song files on separate physical drives from each other pay dividends – particularly when considering that the audio tracks (probably no more than two or three stereo files) will be streaming whilst BFD is triggering live samples via MIDI input..? I’m wondering if the samples and audio separate drives situation will be considerable beneficial, or given the intended application, would this approach be merely over-speccing things?*
If that is thought to be the best approach, what do you believe to be the best way of hooking these up? I plan on using the FW400 port for the Echo AudioFire 8 and have ordered a Sonnet Express eSATA Card to hook up an external drive. Should any additional drive look to use the FW800 port or should I simply tag into the spare eSATA port on the Sonnet Express Card..? My concern with the latter is that a bottleneck would occur in the Express port and defeat the whole object
I would really appreciate any thoughts on this
    Many thanks
    Clive

    My opinions:
If you're really only talking about 2-3 audio tracks per song, having them on a separate drive is not going to make that much difference. I'd recommend just using one drive for both audio and samples for now, you can always add another hard drive later if you're getting disk errors, or if you start using more audio tracks.
If you're looking for a good orchestral library, I recommend Vienna Symphonic Library Special Edition (about $500). VSL sounds great, and this particular set is much cheaper and still gives you a good amount of instruments/articulations.
If you do go with a third drive, use both eSATA ports. Even with a little bottlenecking, you should see substantially faster performance than with FW800. The data transfer rate of eSATA is over 3 times that of FW800.

  • Second audio missing

    Hi Everybody,
I have a VOB file which has 2 audio streams. When imported in Pre only the first audio appears in the timeline.
The second one is missing. Are there any options I have to check out? Please advise if there is any workaround to get the second audio in Pre.
    I have Pre Pro CS5.
    Thanks
    Shiva

You will need to rip the supplemental Audio Stream separately. Only the primary Audio Stream will be Imported from the VOB.
    Good luck,

  • Second audio track named as the first, on TV

    Hi to everyone,
just finished an Encore project and BR disk plays good and fine.
I've made two tracks (1 italian, 2 english).
Everything works great as mentioned, but if I push the audio botton of the Blue-Ray player remote control, audio changes correctly, TV displays "1 italian" and "2 italian" and not "1 italian" and "2 english" as expected.
Missed something in Encore or is it a BR player matter?
Second audio track in Encore timeline is marked "en".
    Thanks
    Giorgio

    Here is a new,
just finished a DVD project with italian, english and czech (cs) audio track.
Well, it works fine, everything is displayed in the right way, czech track also.
So I tried to modify audio track hierarchy, putting italian as first, then english and czech as third with another empty french track as fourth.
    Everything works OK.
So I'm in front of a "crossroad":
    - or there is a problem in Blue-Ray (mpeg2) track identification process
    - or I have something corrupted in my project, in this way I have to re-build the entire project
    Let know in this thread...........LATER!!!!!!
    Ciao

  • ATV2 and second audio track

So, for Christmas, I sent out a home video to family, and as a bonus feature included an alternate audio track, which was accessible when playing the video in Quicktime, iTunes, and other i-devices.
I then saw the video played back on an AppleTV2, and to my surprise, it didn't see the alternate audio track at all. Confirmed that on the 'server' machine, iTunes could access the audio track, but when you hold down the 'select' button on the ATV2 remote, there's a tab for 'Audio', but it's grayed out and can't be selected. I also tried using AirPlay to push the video up, and the icon for changing the audio track disappears when you do that.
I tried tinkering around with the video using Subler, but none of my settings I tried were able to make it so that the ATV2 could select between two audio tracks.
Is this possible? The presence of the menu implies that it should be possible, but I haven't found a way to do it. Can anyone tell me what needs to be set or how the audio needs to be encoded?

I'm sure they're not encoded correctly, that's my question, really. How do they need to be encoded and configured?
    I've tried the following configurations...
(In Subler there's a checkbox to indicate which audio is played normally, indicated with X for checked, _ for not checked)
    1 X Stereo AAC
    2 _ Stereo AC3
Defaults to AAC when played on QT or iTunes, ATV2 defaults to the AC3. ATV2 doesn't show track 1 as an option.
    1 _ Stereo AAC
    2 X Stereo AC3
Defaults to AC3 on all platforms, ATV2 doesn't show track 1 as an option.
    1 X Stereo AC3
    2 _ Stereo AC3
Defaults to the checked AC3 on all platforms, ATV2 doesn't show track 2 as an option
    1 X Stereo AAC
    Plays on all platforms
    1 X Stereo AC3
    Plays on all platforms
So as far as I can tell, ATV2 simply doesn't have support for a second audio track?

  • Second Audio Track

How can I have Front Row play the second audio track that is part of a video?
    -Sgt. Baker

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
No, I don't think that's possible. Since Front Row really has no user interface for turning on or off an option like that, you won't be able to make that choice. You can, however, play the file with the QuickTime Player application (the current version includes a full screen option without paying for the "Pro" version). Or, if it's a DVD, the DVD Player application gives you full access to all the options.

  • 30 Second Audio Render problem in Adobe Media Encoder?

I've been trying a few things out to fix this, but no luck.
Ok, so I export videos with a audio spectrums where audio would be necessary. Now I want to do this all in After Effects without editing the Audio in in Premiere Pro. After Effects does not render in H.264. So I send it Adobe Media Encoder. When I export to AME, the first 30 seconds is mute, without fail. only on AME though. I can export straight through AE with .mov and it works fine. but I don't like doing that with the large filesize. I also did this with WebM. Audio does not export for 30 seconds on AME.
I like to send everything to AME. So if I have to go to premiere to fix audio I will. so after fixing everything I send it over to AME and let it export. for some reason, it WILL give me audio. Is there something wrong with my settings in AE or AME?
Everything is CC if that helps any

    OK, give this a shot.
FAQ: Why are some codecs and sequence presets missing from my installation of Premiere Pro?

  • Sample Sweeping Audio Frequency

I am able to do the harmonic analyzer on a specific frequency but wanted to get input on two things:
Analyzing a sweeped signal (say an audio range of 20Hz to 20kHz) - Do most programs just sample every few periods  within the file and then analyze the next?
How do programs do "real-time" analysis.  I assume there is some sort of aperture time of sampling so sample every 1 second of data?  In addition, I have only devised a way to analyze a wav file (converted to an array).  Is it possible to do "real-time" sampling from the incoming audio?

    Hi ngay528,
Essentially, you can't do a THDN analysis on a signal with a continuously changing frequency, as by definition, THDN required one fundamental frequency to get any useful information on it.  In order to get proper data from a THDN the best option is to acquire your data in chunks at discrete, or stepped frequencies.  If you know where these frequency changes are occurred you can then perform a THDN on those individual chunks of data.

  • Feature Request:   Preset Preview on Second Monitor

Currently, when you have monitor 2 set on "Loupe" mode and it is set for a "Live" view, and then scroll across the filmstrip on monitor 1, you can see the images change on the second monitor.
I would like to have the ability to set monitor 2 on "Loupe" mode with a "Preset" view, so you can see the effects a preset will have in the larger view, as you scroll over the presets you have created on monitor 1.
The ability to see what effects a preset will have on an image is a great tool. The only issue I have with it in its current condition is the size of the preview window. IMHO, being able to see how the image would be effected full-screen before having to actually apply a preset would take this feature to another level.
Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated.
    Regards, JML

    This is an absolute must.

  • Preset Preview on Second Monitor

I would like to take this opportunity to submit a feature request that would make it possible to preview how a preset would look like on a second monitor. As it currently stands you can preview the effect in the small image above the preset list. Unfortunately it can be difficult to judge the effect a preset will have on the image because of the relatively small image your previewing it on.
It would be sooo nice to be able to see the preview on a second monitor, and will cut down on the number of times a preset is applied and then removed because I didn't like how it looked when seen on the larger image.
BTW, thanks for making it possible in LR3 to filter and/or create smart folders based on Focal Length. It is greatly appreciated!
    Regards, JML

    This is an absolute must.

  • SMPTE DTV audio preset results in no audio

I'm trying to export an indie movie cut in FCP X as a QT movie with 8 channels of audio, per Apple's own iTunes spec, to be sold on iTunes.
FCP X only has 5.1 as an option, but I can send it to Compressor.
Compressor has the exact preset I need, SMPTE DTV (L R C LFE Ls Rs Lt Rt). When I use this audio preset, the resulting Quicktime movie has no audio at all.
Anyone have any experience with this?
    Thank you!
    Scot

    Hi Hafken,
Sounds like I am getting nailed by a software glitch.  I keep seeing the problem randomly through the day today.  Sometime everything works perfectly when I break apart the clip items, other times the sound quits playing on the newly broken apart clip, that is, until I recombine the clip then the audio is fine again.  Other clips in the same timeline, that are already broken apart work just fine.
New addition to the story, sometimes the clips are labeled al, a2, a3, a4.  Other times they are labeled as mono1, mono2, mono3, and mono4.  Maybe this is an indicator that I placed the clip in the timeline, then broke it apart.... rather than viewing the clip in the inspector (before adding to the timeline) and turning off the mono tracks 3 and 4.
Keeping in mind that they are all clips from the same camera (hvx-200), recorded at the same time, batch imported into FCP at the same time, and side by side in the same timeline.
Another interesting addition is that some of the clips now list their tracks in reverse order....  a4 (at the top), a3, a2, a1 (at the bottom).

  • 1-2 Second Audio Delay after installing windows 7

I installed windows 7 on monday but whenever i do anything that has audio it is always delayed by -2 seconds.
For example when playing Dragon Age Origins an npc's mouth moves then a second latter the audio finally comes.
When listening to music it isnot that noticable since it is just audio but when i pause or stop it the audio continues for -2 seconds.
When watching videos on Hulu it is the same as games where the voice comes about -2 seconds after the person's mouth moves.
I have everything up to date via the auto updater and checked on here to verify the correct drivers are installed and they are indeed the latest.
Everything worked fine when i had vista but this issue may not be big to some but since i am a big very gamer this is a major problem and if not fixed soon i will remove the card and use the crappy onboard sound.
Any help fixin this issue would be greatly apreciated.
Edit: Forgot to mention that i use the creative sound blaster x-fi titanium card
Edit: I managed to fix it by deleteing EVERYTHING Creative and using ONLY the newest driver from the site, however doing this pretty much makes my card nothing more than a fancy onboard sound card since it doesn't have any of it's features.
The updater doesn't detect my card and when it does and i install anything from the list i get this audio delay issue.
