Presets for M2TS Files

I've been struggling with quality issues when using my JVC HD7 and Premiere. I've been using MPEGStreamClip to convert the TOD files to DV to edit in Premiere, but I got a lot of swimming in the shadows. Yesterday I came across this post http://www.adobeforums.com/webx/.59b7b7e7?@@
and realized I could rename the file, and it gave me much better quality to boot. My only issue now is the renamed file file has to be rendered for me to be able to work on it. I was still using the preset for dv files.
What settings would you folks suggest I use to be able to work on files without rendering. I'm shooting in SD. My machine is only a dual core. I'm using Windows 7 64X with 3Gigs of RAM.
Any help would be appreciated.

  • User Presets for Exporting Files

I want to create a user preset for exporting full size jpegs to a folder to be named later. Whenever I try and save it Lightroom defaults to email. How can I resolve this?
    Here are my settings:
    Lightroom 4.2
    export to hard drive
    choose folder later
    jpeg format
    Adobe RGB
    quality=95
    Thanks

So, where is the emailing part coming in? Is it not being saved with 'Hard Disk' as the export service ('Export To' field in Export Dialog Box). Or is it being saved OK, but then when you go to use it the problem presents.
Feel free to post the contents of the associated .lrtemplate file in the body of your next post. (hint: 'Show Lightroom Presets Folder' button in Lr preferences dialog box).

  • Recommend a functional and fast HD encoder for .m2t files hat "copy freely"

Now that HD .m2t files are becoming very common place, what program do you recommend to encode into mp4 format?
I'm especially referring to 2048 and 2112 PID which are .m2t files and wanting to encode into .m4v files for ATV.
Currently Handbrake chokes on these two PIDS and MPEGStreamClip can do 2112 but not 2048. Even so a HDef file using MPEGStreamClip takes about 15 hours on a MacPro and about 70 minutes if the file was not HiDef.
So I'm thinking that there is a major lacking in free or not so expensive programs able to do the job.
Even though MPEGStreamClip can do HiDef the 5.1 channel capability is not there such as provided by HBrake 092.
Please make a suggestion for a free or inexpensive program, exclude programs such as Perian. I just want to keep the application use as simple as possible.

Check out Turbo.264 from ElGato. It's an mpeg-4 USB stick that works very well. It's fast and the software that comes with it supports 5.1 channel audio if your source has it (even with .m2t files). Another nice feature is it works with other Quicktime applications, so I take a .m2t file, edit it in MPEGStreamclip and then can export using Turbo.264 which is much faster than using the Export to H.264 option. It also takes all the processing from your computer and puts it on the external chip.
Be sure to check out the frame size limitations though. It can definitely handle an HD source file, but I'm not sure what it is limited to for output. I believe it is fully capable of all the Apple TV specs though.
Also, there are no options for 2-pass and the quality is not quite as good as Handbrake. I have found exporting through MPEGStreamclip to look cleaner than through the Turbo.264 software, but not by much.
Bottom line: It has made encoding HD m2t files a trivial matter for me.

  • Any support for m2ts files?

It seems this is a common problem with AVCHD, but will there be no support for importing m2ts files?  It sounds like we can import mts files from the camera, but not m2ts files (i.e. those mts files which have been downloaded from the camera to the computer already).  It always seems very silly to me, because who keeps all their video on their camera indefinitely?  Most of my video is m2ts on my computer already, so what I really want is compatibility with these files.  Is this a pipedream?

Thanks for the feedback. I'll take it up with the video team as to whether we can open up to this file extension. In general, our focus is on video from DSLRs rather than camcorders, since that's where the vast majority of our customers are. But the line gets blurry with AVCHD which has a foot in both worlds.
This is an endlessly tiresome and increasingly common phoned-in reaction from Adobe (in an "answered" thread).  For Adobe's developers to spend the two seconds it takes to include another file extension for recognition of the exact same file format is zero innovation and merely being responsive to a major customer concern.  It has nothing to do with the back-pocket excuse of steering Lightroom to "focus" on photography and less on video, and also nothing to do with the performance/speed/"zippiness" of the application.  Adobe is highlighting its launch of Lightroom 4 with an advertising manifesto that it improves video support (while asking for large upgrade payments).  Mixed messages combined with "we're not focusing on video" is insulting to Adobe's loyal customers.
Support it, or not.  But if you market the product as supporting but refuse to follow through with zero-innovative fixes, then you are committing commercial fraud.

  • 1080 50P PAL preset for MOV files recorded with the Panasonic GH3

Dear Adobe team and PE11 users,
With my Panasonic GH3 I'm recording 1080 50P MOV files. I bought this camera because the mov compression is much more easier to edit then AVCHD. There is already a solution for the (non english) premiere elements 11 software with a preset for 50P AVCHD files but I can't find any discussion about MOV files. Does anyone have the same problem and a solution (with a MOV 50p PAL preset). Untill now PE11 recognise the 50p files as HDV 1080 25i files in the project settings...
    best regards,
    arjan

  • Video and/or sound will not show in Adobe Photoshop 12 for m2ts files.

I have just added Adobe Photoshop 12.  The m2ts videos will either:  1) not show with a black screen and have video; or 2) will show but have video for only 30 seconds.  HELP!  I've read the forums, and I've tried everything I could find as suggested.  Nothing fixes BOTH issues.  I'm ready to return product and go back to 8.0.

Sometimes it pays to munch the video file through the Adobe Media Encoder app, even if it's going to come out in the same format as before.  This app is free and gets installed along with Captivate but you can also download it from the Adobe website.  It seems to make videos compatible with Captivate.

  • Correct preset for .mov files

Hey everyone, I am fairly new to the world of video technology so forgive me if this question seems a bit basic.
I have some 1920x1080 24fps .mov files that I want to edit into a film. I ran it through the codec detection program Gspot and it said the codec was avc1 and the 'name' H.264. Any idea what preset to use? I am using CS5 if that helps.
    Regards

If you do not know which one to choose do this:

  • Choose an Adobe PDF preset for converting files

This question was posted in response to the following article: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/acrobat/X/standard/using/WS58a04a822e3e50102bd615109794195ff-7 f12.w.html

I have tested this two ways online:
Open a PDF file with OCR capability
    SAVE AS “appropriate file name”
                    SAVE AS TYPE PDF/A (.*pdf)
Preflight setting = SAVE AS PDF/A-1b
Just re-tried this and it worked!; I can “find” !
Open a PDF file with OCR capability
SAVE AS OTHER “appropriate file name”
                    ARCHIVABLE PDF (PDF/A)
Just re-tried this and it also worked!: I can “find” !
Guess I must have done something “strange”, but no problems, now.
Thanks for your help & patience.

  • No presets for 60fps in adobe encoder

I'm new to this software but in media encoder 6 I dont see a preset to encode my 60fps source .mts video in?  I also don't see a way to make an mpeg4, only mpeg2.  Other than the youtube version that is 29.97 fps.
Also I had made a video in adobe premiere 6 using about 3.5 minutes of source footage from my canon vixia hfm31 camera.  shot in .mts format 60fps.  My original mts files play smoothly and I encoded a final video with a song that played smooth.
However I wanted to change some things so i went and reshot some footage also in 60fps, and started mixing them in with the original footage and now whenever i try and encode a lot of the shots are a little choppy.  Like when the camera pans/tilts or zooms out its not totally smooth its a little laggy/choppy.  its subtle but it bugs the hell of out of me.  I've tried using different presets and using the maximum render quality and frame blending to no avail.
What determines how smooth a video encodes?  Is there something I can do to remedy this?

That thread was marked as answered and it seems to have fixed the issue for certain types of files. I am opening a new thread just hoping to get a response from Adobe on timing. I assume they are going to enable playback in bridge for m2ts files at some point. I am just wondering how long it's going to be.

  • No Playback for .m2ts in Adobe Bridge CS5

I recently upgraded to the Adobe Premiere Pro CS5 suite. I have thousands of m2ts files to sift through. I would really like to be able to preview them in Adobe Bridge CS5. I can't right now. The most recent update (4.0.4) did not fix this bug for .m2ts files. Any chance it will be fixed soon?

  • Set Paper Source by Page Size for multi files

I have over 500 pdf files. How can I batch set "Paper Source by Page Size" in Print Dialog Preset for these files.
    Thanks!

    Hi Andrew,
Apple made some pretty significant changes to the way that printers function when they released 10.6.
The setting you're looking for is completely controlled by the OS.
Choose Apple > System Preferences > Print & Fax.
Click on your printer and use the drop-down menu to change the default page size for your printer.

  • M2t files won't preview in Bridge 4.0.1.26

I'm using Bridge that came with After Effects CS5.  Thumbnails for m2t files appear normally but do not play in the preview.  I can drag and drop a m2t file into AE and they work just fine so I must have the proper codecs.  Is there something I'm missing here or is Bridge just behind the curve when it comes to m2t files?  I also note that Mocha for AE won't touch m2t files either which is a drag...but that's a question for another forum.

I am having the same problem with HDV, MPEG files and M4V files.  AVI's, Quicktime, MPEG-1 files preview and have thumbnails.
Seems to be a connection between Bridge and Windows Media Player.
    Hope we hear soon.

  • .MTS, .m2t files and ClipWrap?

Once again I am totally confused!
I thought that ClipWrap was an app to convert AVCHD video files to AIC, ProRes etc.
However, I cannot get it to work.
It asks for .m2t files but the AVCHD files I am experimenting with are .MTS and are completely greyed out and impossible to get into ClipWrap.
I had better explain that these files are the ones supplied on the FCE 4 Editing Workshop DVD. They are early AVCHD with a 1440x1080 size, so may not be exactly the same as the latest cameras.
So can anyone explain what .m2t and .MTS files are and whether ClipWrap will work with AVCHD?
I have no problem Logging and Transferring them into FCE 4.

Upgrade to the current version for .mts files.

  • Project Preset to use with m2t files in CS4

I capture HD video from my Sony HDR-HC9 using the Sony capture utility.   The Sony capture utility can divide the capture into datestamp clips,  while Premiere Capture just does it as one file (If I am wrong about  this please let me know).
I want to know what project preset I should use with these files.  I  want to edit HD at the best fidelity possible since I want to be able  to export to various media types from DV mpg (for my cable access  shows), youtube, DVD, and blue ray.
I just bought a Sony VPC-F1190X with Adobe Premiere Pro CS4  installed.  So far it works beautifully with the m2t files with the HDV  1080i30(60i) preset or with the ACH-I 100 1080i60.

How to export book pdf using custom presets for all book files in indesign using javascript.

    Hi jackkistens,
    Try the below js code.
Note: you can change your preset name in below (e.g, Your preset name).
    var myBook = app.activeBook;
    myBook.exportFile(ExportFormat.PDF_TYPE, File (myBook.filePath+"/"+myBook.name.replace(/\.indb/g, ".pdf")), false, "Your preset name", myBook.bookContents, "Book_PDF", false);
    example:
    var myBook = app.activeBook;
    myBook.exportFile(ExportFormat.PDF_TYPE, File (myBook.filePath+"/"+myBook.name.replace(/\.indb/g, ".pdf")), false, "[High Quality Print]", myBook.bookContents, "Book_PDF", false);
