Press Play on highlighted Button=No Action

Here is the situation: Menu is created. Button is created and linked to One track.
When simulated and when tested on a standalone DVD player, even when the button is highlighted...PRESSING PLAY does not trigger anything. Instead, I have to press ENTER On controller.
Some people just like pressing Play on Menu.. How does DVDSP deal with this issue? THanks.
I have simple needs! Anyone know to fix this or what settings to adjust?

Thanks for the replies. I did search for topic and didn't find it under my wording. But thanks for suggesting i'm lazy (jk)
It's weird: I swore i've played dvds by pressing play at menu. With your help, i tested it out and you're correct. Thanks for the answer!

  • I press play, iphone looks to play, but music won't start and track remains on 0:00

    Hi there
I recently  upgraded to ios 5 and since then my music is behaving very strangely on my iphone.
Essentially I press play and the button changes to a pause sign (indicating it is playing), a play icon appears in the top next to the battery icon, but nothing happens - the track remains at 0:00.
Sometimes it does play a couple of song and then it hits this glitch and freezes on a song. I can forward to another song but it just freezes on that song.
Thanks in advance for any help.

I have a similar issue.  The best way i've devised was to just shut off the phone completely and then turn it back on. It works for me...

  • How is closed & sleeping MBP supposed to react to pressing Play on Remote?

Hi. I have this question: How is closed and sleeping MacBook Pro supposed to react to pressing Play (or other buttons) on the Remote?
I think that once it started playing music from iTunes even with closed lid, and I was thinking how clever it was. But now it only plays for few seconds and then goes back to sleep. I don't understand this.. it should either keep playing or do nothing.. why this weird behaviour?
    Thanks in advance for replies.
    Regards
    Milan

The machine is intended to sleep whenever its display is closed. I agree with you that logically, it either shouldn't wake up at all when it's closed and called upon by the remote, or it should wake up and stay awake. What it does (and mine does exactly the same thing, so I don't think yours is misbehaving) doesn't make very good sense, and suggests that there's a minor fault in the design — whether hardware or software, I'm not sure.
But for the machine's safety, it's much better for it to go right back to sleep than to stay awake and keep running. If it did the latter, you might be tempted to pick it up and slip it into your carrying case or backpack while it was still running. That would almost certainly cause it to overheat in a very short time, because it would be unable to cool itself in there. So the way it behaves, while not strictly logical, at least errs in favor of self-preservation.

    Welcome to the Apple community.
A number of people have reported similar issues recently, many appear to have found a discrepancy of some kind in their account settings and making changes to these settings or simply resetting them has resolved the matter.
Check your account details are correct, check that you are using the correct details for Location, Region and Time Zone. You may want to change these settings and then change them back to see if that helps.
Also check your payment details, make sure your details are exactly how they appear on your credit card statement, you might also try changing some of those details, saving them and changing them back again.
You might also try logging out of and then back into your iTunes account (Settings > iTunes Store > Apple ID’s > Sign Out) and restarting your router. (Some have reported that after doing this, they need to check for rentals even though it may report that there aren’t any, after which rentals once again appear in the ‘movies’ feature)
Rentals should appear under their own heading in the ‘Movies’ feature, you might also check at Settings > iTunes Store > Check For Rentals.
At this point in time, I’m wondering if this could be related to (but not restricted to) the new feature that allows others to come into your home and use your Apple TV to download and play their content on your Apple TV without logging into their account on your Apple TV. The Terms of Use for iTunes Store content have always been to require you to only purchase and play the content from the store in the location where you live and to use a credit card registered in that location. Previously Apple seem to have been somewhat lenient on enforcing such restrictions, perhaps now they are not. However I don’t really have any evidence to support this suggestion, except that changes made to accounts in these areas do appear to be helping many.
If you are successful in resolving your problem, perhaps you would let us know exactly which action resolved the problem for you. If you are having this problem to begin with, can you also tell us your location.

  • How do I get iTunes 11 to work as the old iTunes did in this respect: after playing a song in one playlist, I click on another playlist, highlight a song, press play, and get the result of that song playing & that playlist continuing?

How do I get iTunes 11 to work as the old iTunes did in this respect: after playing a song in one playlist, I click on another playlist, highlight a song, press play, and get the result of that song playing & that playlist continuing?  As it goes now, one clicks on the song in the new playlist where the arrow is and then chooses 'Play Song Next.'  So, it plays next, but then the song after that is back in the old playlist.  I want to use iTunes smoothly without the extra clicks I've had to do in order to get the playlist to continue.  This is music for background while I play the violin at restaurants, and extra clicks and hassle is quite unappreciated, especailly since it worked fine in the previous iTunes.
       Thanks.

At the top of the playlist where it shows the playlist title and the number of songs, there are two icons. Click the "play" triangle to add the entire playlist to "Up Next", or the "shuffle" symbol to do the same thing but in random order. But the currently playing track will stop playing, and all the songs in "Up Next" will be removed (replaced by the ones from this playlist).
If you hold down the "option" key while clicking those icons, the currently playing song will continue playing, and the new playlist will be added to "Up Next" (above the songs that were already there).

I can imagine that is frustrating as heck.  My daughter has one of these and I know for a fact hers does not turn off after 10 minutes because I have to turn it off for her every night after she has fallen asleep.  Below is what Apple has to say about it from a troubleshooting standpoint.
"If music stops when the iPod nano screen turns off m Make sure the earphone port is free of debris. m Make sure the earphone or headphone connector is pushed in all the way. To see an illustration, go to support.apple.com/kb/ts3700."
Are you using aftermarket ear buds or speakers when you listen to these lectures???  If so maybe it has something to due with a compatibility issue.

  • My iPod nano will go into the sleep mode while a song is playing a second after the screen goes blank; the song will stop and I will then have to press the sleep/awake button to pick up where the song left off.  How do I fix this?

My iPod nano will go into the sleep mode while a song is playing a second after the screen goes blank; the song will stop and I will then have to press the sleep/awake button to pick up where the song left off.  How do I fix this?

Your problem is that your iPod is not sensing that your headset is inserted. There is a pin inside the headphone port on the Nano that senses if it is inserted fully. If it does not sense anything, it will pause playback to save battery power when the screen dims. Here are the solutions:
Insert it fully. This will fix it for most of you. Press that thing in there all the way. You should feel and hear a full click when it is fully seated. If you can see ANY silver of the headset jack, it is not fully inserted.
Debris inside the headset port. If you are totally unable to push the headset jack all the way, the most likely problem is that you have crud inside your headphone jack. Try blowing it out or slapping it against your palm with the headset port facing your palm to try and get the stuff out. If you look into he jack with a light, you should be able to see to the bottom. The entire inside of the headset port is white, so if it looks dark at the bottom, that is the crud that is keeping your nano from working.
Headset jack or plug issue. If you cannot solve the problem with 1 or 2, then there is likely something physically wrong with either the headset jack on your headphones or the headset port on the nano.
If none of the above works, you need to take it to the Apple store or wherever you purchased it. I think they are still under warranty.

  • Text caption to disapear when press play

I have a video fil on the slide, we want a text box/caption to tell the user press play button(on video) to start it and the text caption fade out when U have pressed play, not automatic fade in and fade out. Is that possible?

    Hello,
    Have a couple of questions:
Which version of Captivate do you use?
Is this slide video, or an inserted FLV with its default playbar? From your description I suspect it is an inserted FLV
Has the text caption to disappear completely after fading?
It is possible to apply an effect (like fading out - it will be AlphaFromTo) by advanced action in Captivate 5/5.5. But the action has to be triggered by an interactive object (button, click box) on the slide, and you cannot set the duration of the effect which is really annoying. I could find a workaround by creating a custom effect with the appropriate duration.
Something similar, but less cumbersome is to use an Exit effect, FadedZoomOut. Then you'll not have to bother about the duration at all. This was my work flow:
created a click box and put it on the same location as the play button of the play bar (FLV), but under the FLV on the Timeline (it will still be active, but if you put it on top, the play button will not be active)
created an advanced action with one statement:Apply Effect  Text_Caption_1  FadedZoomOut (you can use the ellipsis eventually to have the Initial and Final scale set to the same amount, so that there is no zooming only fading)
attach this advanced action to the click box
Just crossing my fingers that you have version 5/5.5

  • How can I get a .swf to stop playing using a button?

I've placed two .swf files inside my InDesign CC doc. and would like to control them using specifically created 'play' and 'stop' buttons. My InDesign file will be / is exported as a .swf also, as it has animations and interactivity.
One .swf is a looping animation (created in a separate InDesign doc.) and the other is a Captivate file published as a .swf.
When I create a 'play' button to play the .swf it works as expected, however when I create a 'stop' button and assign the Action 'Stop' or 'Stop All' it does not work and the .swf continues to play on the page.
When I change page within my InDesign document the two .swf's continue to play; I know this because despite not being able to see them still playing (as I'm on a new page now), one of the .swf's - the Captivate file - has audio and continues to play on the new page I'm viewing.
When I return to the page where the two .swf files are located they appear to have stopped and can be re-played, but what is actually happening is that the .swf's are still playing in the background with the option to press play for the same two .swf's - meaning I'll have a total of 4 .swf's playing at the same time - two behind the original two.
I know there is a similar 'unload' issue when playing a .swf inside a swf. in Flash and that you can create ActionScipt to either unloadAll or killAudio but I don't know how to resolve this with InDesign as I'm not aware of either being able to access the InDesign code or there being an actual fix for this.
Would appreciate some help, if possible.
    Thanks.
    James.

Hmmm. Behind the safari window? Try command-tab for quicktime X and bring to the front?  Quit all apps and start over?

  • How can I set the highlighted button according to the last chapter viewed?

I have a main menu with four buttons, each one of which takes me to a different chapter of track 1. When I press the MENU button on the remote and return to the main menu, I would like for the highlighted button to be the one corresponding to the last chapter viewed. How can I do this?
Page 247 of the DVDSP manual says the following:
Highlight Condition: Provides an alternative method to the Default Button setting for determining which button to highlight. When Highlight Condition is set to Default, the Default Button setting supplies the button highlight setting. When Highlight Condition is set to one of its stream settings (audio, subtitle, camera angle), the number of the stream last played determines the button to highlight. This setting can be overridden by any element that jumps to this menu, based on its jump setting.
I know that SPRM 7 contains the value of the current chapter, so when returning to the main menu I would like to use SPRM 7 to set the Highlight Condition, but I don't see a way to do that, since the only options for Highlight Condition are audio stream, subtitle stream, and camera angle.

    Ah. Pre-scripts.
I would do this by tracking the menu, certainly, but I'd do that by using a set of scripts not as prescripts. So, if your main menu is the start up item for the disc, create a script that reads:
    mov GPRM0, 1
    Jump main menu
and set that as the start up item instead. Now create a second script:
    mov GPRM0, 2
    Jump Menu2
and use both of these scripts on any button that goes to a menu. For example, on the Main Menu you'll have a button that links to menu2... point that button to script 2 instead of the menu itself. Similarly, on the chapter menu if you've got a button that takes you back to the main menu, point that button to the first script.
For your menu call script you can now do this:
    mov GPRM1, SPRM8
    div GPRM1, 1024
    Jump Main menu \[GPRM1\] if (GPRM0 = 1)
    Jump Menu2 \[GPRM1\] if (GPRM0 = 2)
This could also be the end jump script for both tracks, too.
Now, Main menu will have three buttons, one for track 1, one for track 2 and one to go to the second script. Track 1 menu call and end jump goes to the last script, track 2 does the same. On the chapter select menu you point each button to the relevant chapter in track 1 and let the scripts do their job whenever a menu call is made or the track ends. The script will see you were on Menu2 and send you there, and SPRM8 will get you back to the button you last selected.
If, instead of this, you want to go to the button that represents the last chapter played on the chapter menu, and not the last button pressed, but still be able to get to the last button on the main menu then the script changes a bit:
    Goto 5 if (GPRM0 = 2)
    mov GPRM1, SPRM8
    div GPRM1, 1024
    Jump Main menu \[GPRM1\]
    mov GPRM1, SPRM7
    Jump Menu2 \[GPRM1\]
This sends you to the button relevant to the last chapter played if you came from the chapter menu, by jumping through the script to the bit that deals with Menu2, else it will work out the last button selected (and we assume this must have been on the Main menu because GPRM0 !=2 in that case), and send you to the main menu with that button highlighted.
If you've got any more scripts than that running, you've got too many... and get rid of the pre-scripts - they are more trouble than not, and don't work if you are using GPRM based button jumps anyway.

  • Can I add a PLAY or Continue button in my Configurator Panel with a script?

Some of my actions have a stop in them so that I can make some adjustments. How can I continue the action to complete it? Right now I need to go back to the regular action set and press the play button or have a shortcut key assigned to play. Can I add a PLAY button in Configurator?

    ocphotog wrote:
Thanks but the action does most of that already. The action makes one last stop so that I can make a few last adjustments. I need a play button for the Configuator panel so that I do not have to go back to the action panel to press play.
If the Stop is the last step in the action that action is actually done. I do not do panels but I would venture two guesses.
1.) Put the stop message in the pannel instead and remove the stop that is in the action.
2.) Leave the stop in the action so the user knows the process is done and they should make any final adjustment on ther own manually. Make the stop a stop with continue and add to the stop message click continue now.

hi all. When pressed play and make some changes in loop (eg fade in fade out) are very slow to implement, and also the loops from the library are very slow to play, corrects the somewhat self so is the Logic??

    Hey there Logic Pro21,
It sounds like you are seeing some odd performance issues with Logic Pro X. I recommend these troubleshooting steps specifically from the following article to help troubleshoot what is happening:
    Logic Pro X: Troubleshooting basics
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5859
Verify that your computer meets the system requirements for Logic Pro X
See Logic Pro X Technical Specifications.
Test using the computer's built-in audio hardware
If you use external audio hardware, try setting Logic Pro X to use the built-in audio hardware on your computer. Choose Logic Pro X > Preferences > Audio from the main menu and click the Devices tab. Choose the built in audio hardware from the Input Device and Output Device pop-up menus. If the issue is resolved using built-in audio, refer to the manufacturer of your audio interface.
Start Logic with a different project template
Sometimes project files can become damaged, causing unexpected behavior in Logic. If you use a template, damage to the template can cause unexpected results with any project subsequently created from it. To create a completely fresh project choose File > New from Template and select Empty Project in the template selector window. Test to see if the issue is resolved in the new project.
Sometimes, issues with the data in a project can be repaired. Open an affected project and open the Project Information window with the Project Information key command. Click Reorganize Memory to attempt to repair the project. When you reorganize memory, the current project is checked for any signs of damage, structural problems, and unused blocks. If any unused blocks are found, you will be able to remove these, and repair the project. Project memory is also reorganized automatically after saving or opening a project.
    Delete the user preferences
You can resolve many issues by restoring Logic Pro X back to its original settings. This will not impact your media files. To reset your Logic Pro X user preference settings to their original state, do the following:
In the Finder, choose Go to Folder from the Go menu.
Type ~/Library/Preferences in the "Go to the folder" field.
    Press the Go button.
Remove the com.apple.logic10.plist file from the Preferences folder. Note that if you have programmed any custom key commands, this will reset them to the defaults. You may wish to export your custom key command as a preset before performing this step. See the Logic Pro X User Manual for details on how to do this. If you are having trouble with a control surface in Logic Pro X, then you may also wish to delete the com.apple.logic.pro.cs file from the preferences folder.
If you have upgraded from an earlier version of Logic Pro, you should also remove~/Library/Preferences/Logic/com.apple.logic.pro.
    Restart the computer.
Isolate an issue by using another user account
For more information see Isolating an issue by using another user account.
    Reinstall Logic Pro X
Another approach you might consider is reinstalling Logic Pro X. To do this effectively, you need to remove the application, then reinstall Logic Pro X. You don't have to remove everything that was installed with Logic Pro X. Follow the steps below to completely reinstall a fresh copy of Logic Pro X.
In the Finder, choose Applications from the Go menu.
Locate the Logic Pro X application and drag it to the trash.
    Open the Mac App Store
Click the Purchases button in the Mac App Store toolbar.
Sign in to the Mac App Store using the Apple ID you first used to purchase Logic Pro X.
Look for Logic Pro X in the list of purchased applications in the App Store. If you don't see Logic Pro X in the list, make sure it's not hidden. See Mac App Store: Hiding and unhiding purchases for more information.
Click Install to download and install Logic Pro X.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,
    Sterling

  • Is there a way to trigger button's action listeners from key events?

I rarely do GUI programming, especially not in Java. But now I am working on a GUI app and would like to get some help.
Say I have a simple GUI consists of a JFrame, and a bunch of buttons on its JToolBar. The buttons on the JToolBar are for navigation of a set of documents, first, prev, next, last etc. All buttons are assigned action command strings, and their all trigger the same instance of action listener. inside of the action listener, it does the correct navigation based on the action command from the event.
but some users want to be able to use the keyboard to do the navigation, because they think clicking the buttons are too slow.
So is there a graceful way to receive the different key press events and trigger corresponding navigation actions (hopefully it reuses the code that is already there, e.g. the action listener)? thanks.
    -- Jim

but some users want to be able to use the keyboard to do the navigation, because they think clicking the buttons are too slow. That is always the case in any GUI. Any application should be designed to use either the mouse or the keyboard.
All buttons are assigned action command strings,That is not the way the GUI should be designed.
Instead you should be creating Actions. Then you can add the Action to a button and you can associate the Action with a KeyStroke which is called "Key Binding". This is the way all Swing components work. You can read the [url http://download.oracle.com/javase/tutorial/uiswing/TOC.html]Swing tutorial for more information and examples. Start with the section on:
    a) How to Use Actions
    b) How to Use Key Bindings

  • Can You Change the Highlighted Button in the Find Font Palette?

I have several hundred spreads that I converted from Quark to InDesign CC and a few fonts are missing, so I need to replace them. I can use the "Find/Replace" window to take care of most of them using the "find format" function, but one doesn't show up as a choice, so I have to change it using the Find Font palette. I select the missing font name and then select the replacement. Then, if I hit the "enter" button on the keyboard, the palette closes because the highlighted button is the "Done" button. Is there a way to change the highlighted button to the "Change All" one?
    Thanks,
    Lloyd

    John,
Thanks for the reply. I tried using the tab key and although it does change the highlighted button, you can't just press "enter" to select it. I also tried ALT+A (option+A) and it did nothing. I should have mentioned that I'm using a Mac.

  • Since Apple's last Update on 6 June 2014, I have been unable to Import photos from any source. I receive a message saying, Importing photos but nothing happens. When I click on Stop Import, nothing happens. I must press the On/Off button to exit iPhoto.

Since Apples last update on 6 June 2014, I have been unable to Import photos from ANY source. When I attempt to do so, I receive the message "Import  Preparing to inmport..." I've waited 10 minutes but nothing happens. When I click on the icon, Stop Import, nothing happens. When I attempt to Close iPhoto i receive the message, "Photos are being imported to the photo library. Please wait for import to complete." When I click on OK, nothing happens. The only way I can exit iPhoto is to press the On/Off button.

After loading this file I was sucessful in importing photos from a web site, my camera memory card and a CD containing photos.
That is a good news.  We now know, that iPhoto is working as expected, when you are switching to a different library.
    But this is puzzling:
I then see a box with two Librarys listed, both have the same name except for the following and are listed as:
iPhoto Library.photolibrary but one has (default) after its name which is the one which is always displayed when I load iPhoto.
    Underneath the box is written:
    /Users/paulfkardian/Pictures/iPhoto Library.photolibrary
Underneath this are three boxes titled: Other Library    Create New    Choose
I highlighted the the File without the (default) after its name and clicked on Choose. A Library was loaded which had my photos (about 9,822) from about 7 months ago. Underneath the box is written diferently than the file always loaded and says:
    /Users/paulfkardian/Pictures (original)/iPhoto Library.photolibrary
You are having two "Pictures" folders in your Home folder, Pictures and Pictures (original)? And each has a different iPhoto library - one working correctly, and one not?  Do you remember, when this second "Pictures" folder has been created and what caused it?  Did you restore your Home folder from a backup some time ago?
