Pressed wrong button, deleted contacts, apps, and messages!

Okay, so a friend of mine is basically hysterical over something she did to her iphone 3. Apparently when she tried syncing it with itunes, she pressed some unknown button and "turned her iphone into an itouch", as she put it. Now all of her contacts, apps, and messages seem to be erased. Also, she can't make phone calls anymore, although apparently she can receive them. Any ideas on what she did, and how she can undo it, preferably with restoring her contacts, apps, etc would be greatly appreciated!

Sounds like she restored her phone as a new device.
If she has ever synched the iPhone before there will be a backup.
Hook the phone back up to iTunes and BEFORE synching, hit the restore from backup button and restore from the most recent iPhone backup.

I was in the process of syncing my iphone 5c and then wanting to do a backup through iTunes because my phone did not have enough memory to backup. When I connected the phone to my computer and pulled up Itunes I thought I was logged into Itunes (my name was showing) but apparently my daughter had used and logged into itunes. You should use separate Apple ID's for iCloud, iMessage and FaceTime. These services are separate from iTunes.
Create a new Apple ID > https://appleid.apple.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/MyAppleId.woa/ -- Note: You need a verified email address
On one of the devices go:
Settings > iCloud > (Scroll Down) Delete Account > Sign in with the new Apple ID -- Note: This only affects the device
Settings > Messages > Send and Received > Apple ID > Sign Out > Sign in with the new Apple ID
Settings > FaceTime > Apple ID > Sign Out > Sign in with the new Apple ID
This will separate your iCloud content (i.e. Contacts, Notes, Reminders etc.), Messages and FaceTime.
You both can continue to use the same Apple ID for iTunes and share purchased Apps, Music and Movies

But I still have all her info on my phone. Is there any other way I can fix this or do I need to physically delete each contact, app, and message from my phone (and I still have not run a backup). Thanks for any help you can give me.

If her data was not backed up or synced to something, it's gone. Sorry.

What happens when i sync my iphone? does the info on my phone overwrite the info from my previous sync? for example, when i delete some apps and messages on my phine, and i sync it, do these deleted items get restored?

You probably have one or more corrupt apps. Make sure you do not simply restore all your apps ... choose which ones you keep.

I have the same problem. I updated my mac to 10.5, which then had me update apps like itunes, etc. then it wanted me to sync my purchased music to my ipad before i updated the ipad...which worked ok. then when i was syncing the photos i got the same message when i hit "apply" asking are you sure you want to delete the 12 apps from the ipad - clicked "no" and brought me back to the original screen. Got the same message when trying to move them from the hard drive to the ipad. WHat is going on and how do I correct this? Thanks

Has nothing to do with the SIM or master reset. This has been done to my phone. The SIM once and the factory reset many times over. You all just sold us a bad piece of equipment and have us by the tail with our contracts so none of us can get a new phone without paying full price or re-upping our contract. I just got off the phone last night with your high up tech people (you know, the hidden number we get once we tear into your support people enough), they went into my phone again and still didn't find anything wrong. I have the same thing happening on my iPod Touch 5th gen. Been happening for at least a month. I have updated to the most recent version of iOS which hasn't solved the issue. Must be a bug that they didn't get around to resolving yet, a year later. Really annoying to have it pop up when you are in the middle of a game though.

You can delete apps (which will also delete their content), but they will only be redownloadable whilst they remain in your country's store - none of your iTunes downloads (apps, music, ibooks etc) use any of your iCloud storage, iCloud is for your backups (e.g. app's content, camera roll photos, messages, homescreen layout).
To delete an app, press and hold any of the apps and after a couple of seconds or so they should start to shake. Then press the 'x' in the left corner to delete the ones that you don't want, and when you've finished deleting press the home button so as to stop the shaking. If you don't get the 'x' on any of the apps that you've downloaded (you can't delete built-in apps) then check that Settings > General > Restrictions > Deleting Apps isn't set 'off'
You can delete photos from your iPad, but if you want them back then you should copy them to your computer first.

You can also copy your downloads (apps, music, films etc) to your computer's iTunes by connecting your iPad and/or iPhone to it and doing File > Devices > Transfer Purchases.

Please try to uninstall>reinstall Viber, make sure you have the latest version available (2.3)
Viber requires all Push Notification settings to be enabled. Otherwise, it will show the error message requesting to do so. Next time an app update gets stuck try a reset. Press and hold both the home and power buttons for10-15 seconds till the Apple logo appears. Then release both buttons. Wait till your iPad starts on it's own. Try now. Also YouTube is still available. If you can't find it the the app store go to the bottom of the app store page and tap purchased. All your deleted apps will be listed and you can reinstall YouTube from there.

Just press and hold the app until they start to shake, and press the 'x' on any that you want to delete; press the home button when you've finished so as to stop the shaking. That should delete the app and all it's data/content. You can't delete any of the Apple built-in apps (iTunes, iPod, App Store, Game Centre etc.).

If the machine was upgraded to Lion 10.7.x by the original owner then you bought an illegal license of Lion and also of any other applications that the seller said came pre-installed, this assumes the seller did not include original install media. In that case you need to contact the seller for the original install DVDs that came with the machine re-install up to Snow Leopard 10.6.8 and then purchase Mountain Lion ($20) and the applications you want or need. If the seller cannot come up with the original install discs then you can buy them from a nominal cost from AppleCare..

Not sure if you mean the app settings within the app, or the actual settings app. It doesn't really matter anyway .... Close the app or apps and reboot your iPad.
Tap the home button once. Then tap the home button twice and the recents tray will appear at the bottom of the screen. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button twice.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

If the app continually fails to run the delete and renown load might help. But yes, you will lose everything that you have done with the app unless there is some way to back up the info to your computer or another device.
You might also contact the developer of the app to see if they are aware of the problem and are working on fixing it. The developer info can normally be found in the information on the app provided in the App Store.

Try reset ipad. Hold down Sleep and Home button for about 10 seconds until you see the Apple logo.
