Pressing enter after typing URL no longer loads webpage, fix?

It used to be that all you had to do was type half a URL or the whole thing and press enter and the web page would load, now pressing enter does not work, how do I fix this?

The AVG Safe Search extension is causing an issue where pressing Enter when trying to go to a website does not work. You have to click the green go arrow instead. Until this is resolved you can work around this issue by disabling the extension:
At the top of the Firefox window, click on the Firefox button (Tools menu in Windows XP), and then click Add-ons. The Add-ons Manager tab will open.
#In the Add-ons Manager tab, select the Extensions panel.
#Click Disable button next to the AVG Safe Search extension to disable it.

Since switching to Firefox 4 I'm unable to access a web page by pressing "Enter" after typing the url in the address bar; I now have to click on the bar; how do I change things so that I can go back to a keyboard shortcut?

After typing web address in address bar i can no longer just press enter for the web page to load, I have to use the mouse to select the arrow at the end of the address bar

I downloaded the most recent version of firefox and since then when I type a web address into the address bar, I can no longer just press enter to get to the website I want, Instead, I have to use the mouse to point to the arrow at the end of the address bar and click on it.
Driving me nuts! Never had this before!

Why do my email addresses change when I press enter after each To: entry?

When I start to type a contact name in the text box for a recipient of an outgoing email, typing the first letter no longer brings up contacts that start with that letter. Then, after I select the correct one from further down the list (and it appears, highlighted) when I press Enter, the field changes from the desired recipient to the top one in the list.
This has changed very recently. I have been using TBird for over two years without this issue.

Screen exit Payment document saved when press enter after error message

Hi All,
I have created a screen enhancement for payment document WZR1.its in additional data tab under header details.
Here i should populate a error message when user save the payment document without entering values to custom screen fields.It works fine with Function exit LWZRE017 . It populated the msg and the screen is disabled but after when i press enter button the document is saved and created.
please let me know how to stop saving the document without entering values in custom fields.

I found the fcode when enter is 'ENT1' it is from standard screen program.
I populated the same message when UCOMM = 'ENT1' still not working.

Get safari feature where you type a letter and press enter and have it go to the webpage

I like firefox much more than safari, but I really like the safari feature where it suggests webpages. For example, say the last webpage I went on that starts with an "f" is facebook. All I would need to do is type in "f" and press enter and it will take me to facebook. Is there an extension or something that will bring that feature to firefox?

A possibility is to bookmark a site and assign a keyword to it.

Text tool: hitting 'enter' after typing a line disengages text tool

When I type text I get no new line when I hit return (enter). This happens whether I've drawn a text box first or if I'm just typing on a line. The text tool seems to "disengage"—it's still selected in the tool box & layer palette, but I no longer have an active cursor. This means I can only type one line of text at a time. Anything typed after hitting return doesn't show up. The fonts themselves work, and the leading is not so great that the text wouldn't fit in the text box or on the page. I'm hoping this is a common problem/bug that someone has encountered before! CS4 on Windows Vista.

How about this:
Go to Edit Keyboard Shortcuts.
Save the current configuration under a new name.
Load the set called Photoshop Defaults.
See if that helps.

Cannot press enter after passkey to pair wireless keyboard on restarting iMac as enter was remapped

My wireless keyboard needed new batteries, when I replaced them it wouldn't repair so I rebooted the iMac as it said in another thread. When prompted for passkey I cannot press return/enter as previously it stopped working and I remapped R shift as enter- which I presume only operates if the system is paired?
Any help please to repair keyboard?

Connected a wired keyboard but when trying to pair the wireless keyboard it still wont pair as hitting R shift ( remapped as enter) is not accepted.
Hitting enter/retunt doesnt do anything either

Firefox no longer loads webpages, try to load web address and it goes back to about:home

Just upgraded to Firefox 17 from 15 and when the update installed it said successful, however when I try to load a web address the address bar blinks quickly and shows "about:home" and the webpage doesn't even change at all. Anyone have any ideas of why this could be happening?

A possible cause is security software (firewall,anti-virus) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

After the update, pressing Enter no longer works to go to a URL, nor does it work in the Google Search bar thing.

Pretty much what the question says. I updated to the latest Firefox, and now this really irritating thing happens.... It happens lots of places too. Some specific things:
* Clicking on the address bar at all does not bring up the little flashing cursor thing, and generally gives me no indication that I've actually clicked on the URL. Same with that little google search thing in the upper right.
* Most frustratingly, when I press enter after putting in a URL, it won't even go to the site.
* After getting annoyed at both of those things, I try to type in something on a website, and though the URL stays the same, it starts dropping down a lot of suggestions from my history.
* Lastly, when I'm doing my crosswords on Washington Post and I switch to a different tab to type something on there, it doesn't switch my typing thing over - it stays on the crossword, typing things into that rather than into the typing field I clicked on to start typing in.
So, yeah, this is highly annoying, and I'd love for any help for these issues...
I did look at the FAQs, and they said something about the AVG SafeSearch thing causing one of my problems, but I don't have that extension, so it's definitely not that!

How to stop firefox from going to a URL your most is hovering over when you type in a URL and press enter.

When you open a new tab and begin to type a url to visit, if your mouse is hovering over any of the suggested results when you press enter, instead of firefox going to the url you have typed, it goes to the url that the mouse was hovering over.
Is there a way to disable this functionality as it is annoying when you are say, trying to access youtube or google, but then you goto a completely different page from your history because your mouse was hovering over a suggested result.

I restarted in safe mode with all add-ons disabled and the problem still persists. Apparently a friend also seems to have this problem.
How to reproduce (to the best of my knowledge)
1) click on url bar
2) start typing part of a url which generates many results from history
3) mouse over one of the results (usually the first as thats where the mouse is after clicking on the url bar)
4) press enter with autofilled url in url bar
What happens is say that i start typing "goo" for google.com, firefox will auto complete with http://google.com, but since my mouse is hovering over a historic google search result it opens what ever my mouse is hovering over even though the url bar says "http://google.com"

After upgrade from 34 to 35, control click still opens new tab but new tab won't load upon selection. i have to click address and press enter or click go

I've used Firefox for many years, I really like it and have been readily recommending it to others.
However after finally upgrading to 35.0.1 from 34.x I now have a very annoying and time-consuming issue.
So much so that I'm thinking of attempting a downgrade!
I didn't really want to upgrade but Firefox kept bothering me and I inadvertently accepted. Is there a way to switch this upgrade reminder off?
Anyway, previously I would Ctrl-click a link and it would open a new tab but not jump to it. It would remain unloaded until I clicked it. Then it would load as normal.
After the upgrade, I Ctrl-click a link and it still opens a new unloaded tab. So far, so good. Now however, when I click the new unloaded tab, it just sits there and does nothing. I have to click the URL in the address bar and either press <Enter> or click the 'Go' arrow.
I use this feature sometimes 100s of times a day so this is extremely annoying as it adds considerable time and extra clicks to each new link I click.
I'm wondering if it could be a problem with one of my plugins. Can I temporarily disable them all at once to see if that's it?
I will try disabling the tab related plugins.
I've tried toggling 'Don't load tabs until selected' on the Tabs page from Tools menu, Options.
Any help would be thoroughly appreciated as I would like to return to being a Firefox Fan

It is unlikely this issue is to do with Firefox upgrading. Firefox 36 will come out any day soon you should then be on that rather than considering an outdated Firefox 34 which is now not secure, and not supported.

You have not listed your plugins, and Yes you could try using Firefox's add-on manager to make sure they are all set as click to activate or even temporarily set as never activate.
I am not familiar with the add-on

That certainly may be part of the problem try deactivating that with Firefox's addon manager. For all I know this may be the intended behaviour of that addon.
Also troubleshoot the issue with Firefox's safe mode, remembering that does NOT disable plugins you will still need to do that manually.
