Pressing S doesn't start or stop automatic slide show in PowerPoint 2008

I have an automatic slide show created in PowerPoint 2008 which runs fine on PowerPoint 12.2.3 on a Mac running OS 10.5.8, but when running the same version of PowerPoint on 10.6.2, pressing the S and equal keys do not stop and start the presentation. The only thing that stops the automatic slideshow is control-mouse-click (which of course brings up the sub-menu). Has any one else experienced this?

Hi Glo H,
I tried that and it didn't fix the problem...the music still starts a bit choppy (part way into the music) at the tail end of the 1st slide/beginning of second. I don't know if I mentioned earlier, that the music, when it does come in, is at the point it should be, i.e. like it started with the first slide, just not coming out of the speakers...if that makes any sense
Thanks,
Rob

  • Automatic Slide Show start (in Gallery)

    Hi,
I wanted to ask how can i
disable automatic slide show begining.. I want that user
should start the slide show if he wants

Sorry about that, just comment out any calls to the function
    StartSlideShow();
in the 1.3 version of gallery.js I have its line 43
    the
StartSlideShow(); function is called whenever the Thumbnails
section is updated. if you comment it out they will have to push
the play button to start the show, it wont start automatically.

  • Stopping a slide show

I just downloaded Photos for Mac and did a test drive on the new SlideShow features.    I noticed that it is impossible to stop a slide show once it has been started.   There appear to be no keyboard keys (not escape either) or mouse movements that respond during the slide show.   The only thing that worked was shutting off the computer by holding down the power key.    Any ideas?

    Thanks for your response,
I removed the custom nav and let the slides flow into each other - and the project froze.
I can move the small group of slides in question into a blank project or a new project using our template and they play in HTML 5 without issue.
Also, if I enable the captivate playbar and skip directly to the slide right away, it will play. It is only when I let the project play as usual that it fails. I've tried hiding various slides to see if just one is causing an issue, but that wasn't able to do anything.

  • Automatic slide show

    Another query regarding images...
I would like to place an automatic slide show on the opening page of my website. I have previously done this using a flash movie in Dreamweaver, and wonder if it's possible with iWeb. I want a series of images fading slowly one to the other (as on the iWeb album page), and for this 'slideshow' to loop. It would automatically open when the page is loaded, without any command from the viewer. Is it possible to produce something like this using iPhoto?

Some remarks on the slideshow :
    1. The closing </head> element before the <body> element is already present at the beginning of the code. Remove the one at the beginning.
    2. The closing </body> element before the </html> element is missing.
    3. This Javascript file appears twice in the code :
    <script src="http://jeffnitschke.com/test2/jquery.nivo.slider.pack.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
    4. Use one of these files :
    <script src="http://jeffnitschke.com/test2/jquery.min.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
    <script type="text/javascript" src="http://jeffnitschke.com/test2/jquery-1.4.3.min.js"></script>
    5. The styles in this code :
    <style>
    </style>
appears to be the same as in this file :
    <link rel="stylesheet" href="http://jeffnitschke.com/test2/nivo-slider.css" type="text/css" media="screen" />
    Use one or the other.
Suggestion : Use relative pathnames instead of absolute ones. This :
    instead of this :
It make the slideshow server independent.
And why has image 2.jpg a link and the others have not? The link doesn't appear to respond.

  • Windows service start and stop automatically

i'm trying to start windows service, which i installed via running beasvc with parameters. everything used to work fine, but yesterday somthing broke up: i press the start button in the control panel, service tries to start, but then it stops and the following message appears: "Weblogic 9.0 Workspace Service service on Local Computer started and then stopped. Some services stop automatically if they have no work to do, for example, the Performance Logs and Alerts service." sometimes it stops right after starting without giving any messages.
any ideas what's wrong with it&

If I run from a cmd box it shows a successful start, however when I look at the services through the MMC it is not started. Basically, it starts successfully and then immediately shuts off stating the message in the original post. This is after and only after I apply sp7 for BEA 7. If I roll the server back to just v 7, I don't have a problem. I have downloaded V7 twice, and I get the same result. I have followed the install instructions to a T and still the same result. I have also tested removing the user created pages, and I get the same exact error telling me either it's a generic error or, SP7 has issues. The only reason we are rolling to SP7 is because of a security issue, but for the time being we have locked down the firewall. Any other suggestions? I have had my Maximo Administrator contact BEA, and MRO about this problem (Maximo is the only system we use web logic for) and they default to the answer that it is a java issue. That V7 is not supported above java 1.3.xxx which is bull because we were running version 1.4, due to a security issue with JVM 1.3 and all worked well. I have replicated the install with JVM 1.3xxx for BEA 7 sp 7, and that did not solve the problem either. Sorry for the long post I just wanted to try to get all the info out.
Thank you for you time and consideration

  • Photos abruptly stop during slide show

During slide show using apple tv either my music or the photos will abruptly stop.  Music stops if I start it from the photo slide show set-up.  The slide show stops if I set the music to play from the computer to my stereo house speakers.  Wireless connection works.  I removed the apple app from my ipad because that made the problem even worse.  I couldn't start the system as long as I had the app on my ipad or iPhone.  Any ideas how to fix?  It's driving me crazy.

    Wendy:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Can you give us a little more info on your setup: model, RAM, HD size and free space, system version, QT version, and iPhoto version. When did this start? If recently did you run any updates shortly before it happened?

  • DVD Doesn't Start From Stopped Point...

    Hi All!
I have created a DVD with a standard MENU and 4 different episodes. From the MENU the user can view one of four epsiodes. The only problem is when the DVD is stopped and then played again it automatically just starts playing from Episode 4... Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Tom

    Hi!
This sounds exactly like the problem I encountered recently. (Presuming you meant "stopped" and not "semi-stopped" as offered by some DVD players.)
Just have a look at your DVD in VTS view - my guess is that you will find your track of Episode 4 sitting in VTS 1 in front of the menue assets. It seems that most DVD players (at least the ones we have at hand ...) after stopping the DVD do not execute the programmed startup-action but instead just play the first video track.
Now one could think that moving the Episode 4 to a later VTS would solve the problem - not quite. Now the standalone DVD players we have did not restart the DVD at all! (That is with only the menue assets left in VTS 1 and the menue or a script programmed as startup item.)
The solution: If you do not have a legal disclaimer, logo or other intro-video that you can put into VTS 1 as startup item, just generate a second of black video to put in there (set as startup item) and program anything you like as a follow-up action of that slug. Voila! Your DVD player after stopping should now restart properly with your menu (or script ...) Our's did.
    Hope this helps.
    Cheers,
    Marc

  • 9iAS Rel2 OID starts but stops automatically seconds later

I just installed 9iASv2 on my Suse 8 Linux system.
After restarting, I attempted to start OID.
    oidmon connect=iasdb start
    <Message indicating start successful>
    oidctl connect=iasdb server=oidldapd configset=0 instance=1 start
    <nothing>
But, I couldn't continue with the start of the Infrastructure
I checked oidmon.log. And found this:

It looks like oidldapd starts, then immediately fails, any idea?
    thanks.

I had the same problem with my Solaris 8 install. The fix for me was to reinstall the infrastructure using an UTF8 database character set. After the reinstall, the patches went on with no problem at all.

You're running PPC code under emulation on an Intel machine. This is bad. Your version of Logic is too old. If you want to run Logic on a recent machine, you have to have a recent-ish version of Logic.
In your case, at an *absolute minimum* you need 7.2.x, however, I recommend moving to LP9 to stay on the update curve for the future.

  • Navigation: stop automatic slide advancement with multiple click boxes

5.0 newbie question.  I  know I have a lot to learn about navigation before I develop another CBT, but I have done a beta test and found a situation I hadn't encountered before, so I am looking for help to get me past this with a band-aid until I can do this the right way later. I have read many issues about navigation and don't seem to see exactly what my issue is.
I am using the playbar for limited user self navigation, so all my slides have click boxes with "pause until the user clicks" properties.  On some of my slides though, I have created pseudo-button like things via click boxes that popup email or browser windows (via Open URL).  When I was testing these out, they worked as I hoped: opened the external window, but did NOT advance the slide. But I have come to realize that in my testing, I was always clicking on those buttons before the audio had completed and my testers are clicking on them AFTER the audio is complete.  The behavior in the latter case causes the slide to advance (as well as correctly popup the external window).  I don't want it to advance when the user selects that particular click box and they are not REQUIRED to click on that box, it is optional.  It doesn't seem to matter how I set the properties, I get the same behavior.  Suggestions O wise Captivate gurus??  ;^)
    TIA

  • Trying to create an automatic slide show

    Hello Hello
I've read here where some folks have discovered that making a slideshow exported from iPhoto, or using some sort of quick method in iMovie, produces less than desirable results (even if the jpg files were a decent resolution size)?
I'm working in both iMovie, and mainly in FCE. I do know that each transition placed between each still photo on the timeline either in iMovie or FCE MUST be done manually (placed - inserted where you want them), then all MUST be rendered.
If you're working with many many photos, is there a good quality automatic method to have perhaps the same type transitions placed between EVERY photo AUTOMATICALLY?
    Done for you?
Producing the SAME quality as if you'd placed them and rendered them manually yourself?
    Thanx
    Mike

    ...is there a
good quality automatic method to have perhaps the
same type transitions placed between EVERY photo
    AUTOMATICALLY?
It's possible to apply a transition to two clips or to many. Just select all the clips where you want the transition(s) applied.

  • Start and stop a loop automatically subtracting at each iteration

    Hi there,
I know that there are some topics about it, but I could not find any solution, especially because I use the version 7.1 and cannot open new version files.
    My problem is as follows:
I need to charge a tank from 6 to 10 in the morning, every day during 3 days. The process must start and stop automatically, which means, no bottoms to start or stop. The start and stop conditions come from the hour.
I start with a big loop of 72 iterations, which corresponds to 72 hours.
The tank must start at level 6 every time it starts.
After the start, 1 unit must be subtracted in each iteration. Which means, that at 6 am the tank has level 10, at 7 am level 9 and so on. In the end, at 10 am the tank level is equal to 2.
In the next day, the process must start again and the tank must start at level 6.
    Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
    Solved!

While this may work it can be improved significantly. This really isn't a state machine. This is basically the same as your flat sequence with the exception of using a While loop with a Case statement to implement each frame.
You should define what your actions are and create a typedefed ENUM naming them. State names of 1 through 24 are meaningless. Not to mention in your code many of the cases are duplicates of others. That would mean that all of those can be one state with logic to determine what action/state comes next. A properly defined state machine would not need the outside For loop. Without knowing your specific needs some examples of reason state names would be the following: Start, Stop, Exit, Error, Initialize, Get Tank Level, Fill Tank, Drain Tank, Idle, etc. Can you see how these are easier to understand than 1 through 24.
There are lots of examples of state machines here. Try a search and take a look at some of them.

  • MacBook Pro doesn't start - harddisk is not working

I am desperate. My girlfriends MacBook Pro unibody, with OS Leopard doesn't start any more. It shows the grey screen with the apple, but that's it. I tried resetting the NVRAM - it didn't help. I tried starting in Safe Boot mode - it didn't start. I have booted from the installation DVD and run Disk Utility, but it doesn't even see the partition and all the buttons to Repair or Verify the disk are grayed out. And the System Profiler doesn't see the disk, but instead just gets stuck while trying to read it.
After all this I did a deep Hardware test, but it didn't find any problems.
I suppose then that the partition, but not the harddisk is corrupt... any ideas?
And one more question: is there a way to save the data from the harddisk before trying to erase and reinstall the system, or taking it to the service?

Try putting it into Target mode...
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1661
To try to read it's drive, or put another Mac with Firewire & a comparable OSv in T mode, hold the Option key down when booting the MBP to see if it'll boot off the the other Macs drive.
    Long shot, but...
Either boot this one in Target mode...
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1661
And recovering from another Mac, or booting this Mac from another HDD, then using Data Rescue...
    http://www.prosofteng.com/products/data_rescue.php
(Has a Free Demo to see if it could or not, but you'll need another drive to recover to).
