Pretty URL configuration

Hi Experts,
I am new to web-center sites. After developing a complete site, i found a final URL. But that URL consisting of hostname,port no,c,cid ,pagename....
(Eg: http://localhost:7060/servlet/Satellite?c=Page&cid=1327351719456&pagename=avisports/Page/HomeLayout1)
As per my knowledge, In order to change the end point URL we need to configure pretty URL's.
But i confused with terminology, I have Couple of Questions
1)What exactly a pretty URL / Friendly URL / Vanity URL ..?
2) What is the environment required...?(Do we need web-server or application server is enough.)
(I installed Webcentersites11gR1 on weblogic 10.3)
3)Is GST(GST virtual web root) component is needed?
Could someone provide Clear information on this..
Thanks :
Pramila

1. As per my knowledge, I consider all pretty URL/ Friendly URL/ Vanity URL are one and the same, those are nothing but a clean URL which readable and understandable.
2. Creating pretty URL can be achieved in Oracle WCS 11g or FatWire ContentServer (any version) by 2 following ways:
a. Create your own custom URL assembler which provides complete flexibility of creating any URL required without any extra installation or configuration. For more details, please read the developer guide from Oracle documentation site.
b. Using GSF: This requires extra installation apart from Oracle Webcenter Sites or FatWire and that's too much tedious work to do. After successful installation, creating pretty URL is easy. GSF also supports content tagging like we have in many article sites.
I have worked with both and found that its more easy to make own custom URL assembler.

  • SOAP Receiver : Dynamic URL configuration vs. TAuthKey capability

    Hello all,
    I plan to use dynamic URL configuration of web service URL in SOAP Receiver CC. I got an idea, which is more or less described on SDN already. But one thing bothers me a lot.
    In my scenario we talk about 10 and more WebServices' URLs to be called dynamically. The WS call will include also authorization username:passwd and it is expectable, that each WS will have different uname:passwd definition to be authorized with.
    I made a capability analysis of SOAP Receiver CC - tab Advanced - Authetication keys and there are prepared only 10 possibilities to define password for authentication key (which I'll handle to CC via TAuthKey parameter).
    In the help page http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04s/helpdata/en/29/5bd93f130f9215e10000000a155106/frameset.htm there is a note regarding authentication key:
    If authentication is required for the receiver system, you can enter a password with confirmation for each key value. This means that you do not need to write passwords in the enhanced message header.
    So in other words there should be a way, how to send to CC even the password with other adapter-specific message attributes. (or maybe I miss the meaning of this comment, like the other way is to develope own module for CC and process additional attribs from enhanced message header)
    Does anyone have some experience with handling the authentication data in "enhanced message header" ?
    Thanx for you info in advance.
    Regards
    Tom

    Hi all,
    I got an idea that the solution could be to use "Enhanced receiver determination" and use a set of Services-CommChannels with special naming convention. With this (little bit complicated) scenarion I'll get a possibility to define more then one SOAP Receiver CC => I'll get more than 10 options to store the logon password.
    What do you think ?
    Points for ideas guaranteed.

  • I am getting "The contents cannot be displayed in a frame" error when tried to acces an external URL configured through launchpad(ESS). How to rectify it?

    Hi Guys,
    We have configured ESS role through launchpad. For viewing payslips we are using an external URL configured through launchpad.
    But when we try to access the configured link in ESS role, it displays "The contents cannot be displayed in a frame" .
    Should I need to change some parameters/settings in Launchpad so that I could overcome this issue.
    Guidance required,

    Hi Shankar Reddy Chamala,
    Thanks for the alternate solution.
    But the solution you have provided also ended up with the same error
    "The content cannot be displayed in a frame" error.
    Some additional information so that you could help me out,
    The following is the test report .
    HTTP/1.1 200 OK

    The tester has mentioned the yellow highlighted property may be a cause for this issue.
    I googled that the highlighted property is set by the website owners for security reasons.
    Shankar I have another doubt..
    Is it feasible to create an HTML document to open the external link and link the HTML document to the iview and then configure the custom iview with launchpad.?
    -->If yes can you please elaborate the steps for it.

  • Lync 2013 Simple URLs Configuration (HTTP 404 Error in Browser)

    Hello All,
    We have have many SIP domains, and want them to have separate Meet simple URLs and also want to minimize the DNS record and certificate requirements for these simple URLs.
    So i have changed the default simple urls configuration as defined in below link:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg398287.aspx
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg425874.aspx
    Simple URL Naming Option 3
    Simple URL
    Example
    Meet
    https://lync.contoso.com/contosoSIPdomain/Meet
    https://lync.contoso.com/fabrikamSIPdomain/Meet
    Dial-in
    https://lync.contoso.com/Dialin
    Admin
    https://lync.contoso.com/Admin
    After changing the configuration now i getting below error on all URLs:
    HTTP Error 404.0 - Not FoundThe resource you are looking for has been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable
    Topology is properly published and Enable-CSComputer
    is also run on SHELL.
    Get-CsSimpleUrlConfiguration is also showing new Simple URLs and I have also generated a new certificate.
    But still new simple URLs (dialin, meet , admin)are giving HTTP Error 404 in browser.
    Also default old urls https://meet.domain.xx.xx are still working.

    I have restart the server and also restart IIS service. DNS has A record entry for lync.contoso.com.
    But still all three below Urls are giving HTTP 404 error.
    Meet
    https://lync.contoso.com/contosoSIPdomain/Meet
    https://lync.contoso.com/fabrikamSIPdomain/Meet
    Dial-in
    https://lync.contoso.com/Dialin
    Admin
    https://lync.contoso.com/Admin
    And old default urls  are still opening. CNAME for meet, Dailin and admin is still in DNS.
    meet : https://meet.contoso.com
    <label class="errorbold" id="errorTextLabel15" style="display:block;">We're having trouble getting you into the meeting.</label>
    <label class="errorregular" id="checkUrlLabel15" style="display:block;">It's possible you're using a bad URL. Try calling into the meeting using the phone number on the invite, or ask the organizer to drag you into the meeting from the Contacts list.</label>
    Dial-in : http://dialin.contoso.com
    admin: https://admin.contoso.com

    Yes, what errors are you getting? Anyway, Cisco already posted on their homesupport site the software to get back to the old firmware or interface. There are instructions, too, on how to do it.

  • Pretty URL in JSK

    Hi there,
    i am new to OWC Sites (11gR1) - i wonder if i can get pretty URLs inside the JSK, and if yes then please someone tell me what do i miss here :
    I've installed the JSK and read carefully the documentation - my question is what do i need to do ( what links to change & where ) in order to see FirstSiteII with pretty/friendly URL?!
    I did check the propertyEditor and the 1-st set up is for  com.fatwire.firstsite.uri.FSIIAssembler/fsii - which i guess is not working and therefore jumps to the default one ( latest in rank as 2-nd ) com.fatwire.cs.core.uri.QueryAssembler.
    I've changed the ranking and push everything by 1 ahead and insert at position1 the other default URL Assembler ( as per documentation there are 2 available in OWC Sites )
    com.fatwire.cs.core.uri.QueryAsPathInfoAssembler / pathinfo
    but i still can not see any changes : I do not see where to change/overrride the default URL assembler (query) with the new one (pathinfo) or even fsii ( as per one i may develop myself )
    Can someone point me into the right direction ?! Not interested in 3-rd parties just yet ( like GSF for example ) so please do not mention this as a possible solution.
    Thank you !

    Hello and thank you for your reply,
    so if we go back to the default JSK install:
    uri.assembler.1.shortform=fsii
    path.DispatchManager=/cs/DispatchManager
    uri.assembler.1.classname=com.fatwire.firstsite.uri.FSIIAssembler
    path.PageDispatchServer=/cs/PageDispatchServer
    path.CatalogManager=/cs/CatalogManager
    uri.assembler.2.shortform=query
    path.BlobServer=/cs/BlobServer
    path.SeedDispatchServer=/cs/SeedDispatchServer
    cs.contenttype.UTF-8=text/html; charset\=UTF-8
    uri.assembler.2.classname=com.fatwire.cs.core.uri.QueryAssembler
    cs.contenttype=text/html; charset\=UTF-8
    and yes, http://<hostname>:<port>/cs/ContentServer/FirstSiteII/FSII/1118867611403 indeed will show up the FirstSiteII Home page.
    Does this mean that the 1-st ( fsii ) assembler works ?! If eys, what did i miss - where are these paths generated ? What do i have to do to see these pretty URLs generated from the Admin/Contributors as well ( like in previewing the website ) ?! When i try preview pages they are in the default "query" assembler one and i do not know how to change that.

  • How to create pretty url for webcentre sites generated url

    Hi,
    I want to make my url pretty .For this i am using my own assembler class which extends AbstractAssembler.
    I register this assembler class with my webcentre sites.
    Can any one suggest which method of AbstractAssembler class should i use to modify uri in browser.
    What is the significance of AssemblyContext and DisassemblyContext classes and getpath and getQuery method .
    Thanks,

    Hello Ajay,
    Instead of using that blog code, try to call the FM 'INM_UI_NAV_GET_OIF_URL'.
    This FM takes import parameter, Object Type 'RIH' and the Object GUID (this is the 'GUID' field from /rpm/item_d and not the portfl_item_guid field) for specific item and gives you the item URL.
    Let me know if you still face any issues.

  • Dynamic URL Configuration using variable range - WAD

    Hi,
    I am trying to configure a URL dynamically using variable range values. There are two variables which I pass to the URL, Sales Document Number and Posting Date. Sales Document Number has a single value and Posting Date is a range variable. The single value for sales document is passed to the URL but the date range is not passed and hence the web template gets the blank value for the date and shows the variable screen as this is mandatory. The URL is as follows.

  • JDBC  URL Configuration for UDConnect in BW 3.5

    Hello,
    We are experiementing with UDConnect on our BW 3.5 sandbox system to try to connect to an external oracle database using JDBC.
    The UDConnect configuration requires the input of the JDBC driver name, which I believe in our case is oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver.
    The config also requires the URL input for the drivers.  Ihave searched the internet and seen different examples of the URL format.  Can anyone comfirm the proper format for the URL?  I am having trouble making a successful connection.  Here is the format i am using:
    jdbc:oracle:thin:@hostname:port:oracle-sid

  • Web service URL configuration for Xcelsius in BO XI3.1

    Currently we can evaluate the BOE R2 and BOE XI3.1, and we are facing such a problem:
    In R2, we configure the Web service URL for Tomcat in "...\Tomcat\webapps\businessobjects\enterprise115\desktoplaunch\WEB-INF\web.xml
    ", there is a parameter called "crystalxcelsius.webconnectorurl", we configure it like this:
    <context-param>
            <param-name>crystalxcelsius.webconnectorurl</param-name>
            <param-value>
                 http://XX:8080/dswsbobje/qaawsservices/queryasaservice
            </param-value>
    </context-param>
    How can we do the same configuration in BOE XI3.1?
    We cannot find the same web.xml because the folder structure has changed.
    After we deployed the Xcelsius dashboards from BOE R2 to BOE XI3.1, it failed and the error message shows:"Unable to load URL...".

    The Xcelsius team is investigating this issue. We'll update you when possible. Meanwhile here is a suggestion from another user.
    "The web service url setting was removed from XI R3 due to the changes in InfoView/CMC client action framework in XI R3. In XI R3, there are multiple web.xml files instead of just one web.xml. The parameters defined in Xcelsius' web.xml cannot be accessed by Crystal Report or WebI...
    Anyway, I have a workaround might work (I never tried it myself). In Xcelsius design time, add a flashvars range name "CEWebServiceURL" and bind the value of this range to a cell that has the url of the web service you want to use at run-time. The SWF should use this url to refresh LiveOffice at run-time."

    Hello,
    We had a working solution for dynamic URL settings for HTTP adapter from the message mapping using UDF as mentioned in the previous blogs and help.sap. But after a recent update of support packs the URL seems to be getting incorrect values. Is there any visial admin settings that need to be checked after SP upgrades with respect to dynamic URL configuration?

    I have tested the interface mapping and Message mapping. They seem to bring in the correct URL dynamically but during runtime its been sent to another URL.

  • SOAP receiver configuration and ESR part

    Hi,
    Could you Please help me out?
    I have a scenario like IDOC to SOAP in that they are not giving the WSDL structure I have to prepare and have to use.
    Please tell me how to create wsdl and then how to proceed with Data Types, Message Types, Service interfaces and mappings and ID configuration.
    Thanks & Regards,
    L N Venkata Praveen Gade.

    Basically you are using target system using soap adapter as receiver.
    Import the WSDL In ESR as external definition.
    use external message type in the message type tab to choose mesg from WSDL.
    create receiver service interface as usual and specify wsdl message as message type.
    Message Mapping again choose source message your sender message type and receiver as reciever mesg type(one you picked from the WSDL)
    Operation mappping is pretty same
    Configure soap receiver channel.
    two things
    specify wsdl url (find out soap address location tab in the wsdl)
    and action (if required) other leave blank.

  • Getting rid of ugly URLs in MediaWiki

    Hey guys,
    I've been at it all weekend but no joy. I recently 'upgraded' from Snow Leopard Server to Mountain Lion and I'm in the process of rebuilding everything that is dependent on MySQL.
    I've hit a roadblock with setting up MediaWiki and 'pretty URLs'. The installation has worked fine but it now sits at wiki.domain.com/index.php/Main_Page instead of the 'pretty URL' setup of wiki.domain.com/wiki/main_page
    Has anyone had any success in configuring Apache on OS X Mountain Lion Server to allow for the use of 'pretty URLs'?
    Any help in this matter would be most appreciated.

    Hi everyone,
    I finally figured it out so I thought I would share it here.
    The Website Root was set as /Volumes/Data/MediaWiki/
    MediaWiki was installed at /Volumes/Data/MediaWiki/w/
    (Change according to your setup)
    After creating a fresh MySQL database I then ran though the MediaWiki installation wizard which could be reached at http://wiki.domain.com/w/
    At this point the URL looks ridiculous not don't worry! Just run through the installation and put the localsettings.php file that is generated into the /w/ folder.
    Then what you wanna do is open up your favourite text editor which is capable of being authenticated as admin (this is important as we are working with a .htaccess file). I use SubEthaEdit with "hidden files" turn on in terminal. Google Search for "show hidden files in finder" to do this and then run the command in Terminal. Finder will restart then hidden files will be visible.
    Put this code into a new document:
    ## http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Manual:Short_URL/Apache
    # Enable the rewrite engine
    RewriteEngine On
    # Short url for wiki pages
    RewriteRule ^/?wiki(/.*)?$ %{DOCUMENT_ROOT}/w/index.php [L]
    # Redirect / to Main Page
    RewriteRule ^/*$ %{DOCUMENT_ROOT}/w/index.php [L]
    Save it as a .htaccess in /Volumes/Data/MediaWiki/
    Important to note that you are NOT saving it in the MediaWiki installation which I have in:
    /Volumes/Data/MediaWiki/w/
    Once you have done this, go into the /w/ folder where MediaWiki actually is and open up the localsettings.php document.
    Find this:
    ## The URL base path to the directory containing the wiki;
    ## defaults for all runtime URL paths are based off of this.
    ## For more information on customizing the URLs
    ## (like /w/index.php/Page_title to /wiki/Page_title) please see:
    ## http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Manual:Short_URL
    And change the settings directly below it to reflect this:
    $wgScriptPath = "/w";
    $wgArticlePath= "/wiki/$1";
    $wgScriptExtension = ".php";
    And Voila! You have done it!!!!
