Prevent Ctrl-W from closing Full Acrobat Search window

When I do a Full Acorbat Search on a folder tree, it can take quite some time for all the hits to be found, and quite some time to work through the hits.  Usually, multiple PDF files are opened as I work through the hits.  As I close the PDFs with ctrl-W, it is very easy to accidentally close the Full Acrobat Search window, which means waiting forever to re-do the search and find my way to my current spot in the list of hits.  I find it highly inappropriate for ctrl-W to close the Full Acrobat Search window in the same way that it closes PDF files.  It is especially risky in Windows 7, where the window frames are translucent and the window with the focus is highlighted in a way that makes it very difficult to distinguish from the windows without the focus.
Is there a way to prevent ctrl-W from closing the Full Acrobat Search window?  I am using Acrobat Professional 8.

Thanks, Dave.
I'm finding other inconsistent behaviour that is exacerbating the problem. If I close the last PDF file with ctrl-W, the search window stays open.  If I close the last PDF file from the task bar, boom, the search window gets clobbered too, which entails another lengthy re-search.

    Is there a way to set Acrobat to always open with the Full Acrobat Search window opened and active?
    Seems like there ought to be a way to embed Acrobat configuration parameters like this, using some extra URL syntax or something so that Acrobat could be launched and configured for a task (like Full Acrobat Search) with one click.

    Your options would be under the Document Properties>Open for the specific document and EDIT>Preferences>Open (or such) for your default use.

  • Prevent Ctrl-A from selecting in JList

    How can I prevent Ctrl-A from causing all items
    in my JList to become selected?
    This may seem like a strange question, but I have
    a custom JList which uses a mouse listener to
    detect selections rather than its usual selection
    listener. Nevertheless, the Ctrl-A key combination
    still causes all items to be selected.
    How can I avoid this? I have tried simply
    unregistering the key combination:
    unregisterKeyboardAction(
    javax.swing.KeyStroke.getKeyStroke(
    java.awt.event.KeyEvent.VK_A,
    java.awt.Event.CTRL_MASK,
    false));
    But this has no apparent effect.

  • "full acrobat search" issue....

    When I do an "full acrobat search" from within Acrobat, I select a folder to search in that contains thousands of PDF OCRed files.
    When it completes my search, I get the message "search has skipped 313 files because they are corrupt" -- how do I know which files, out of the thousands, are corrupt?? I can deal with the corrupted files, but have no idea which ones they are, short of attempting to open each file, 1 by 1, of the thousands...
    Thank you....

    OK, Thanks so much.
    However it is possible when I open a pdf document with "Internet Explorer". The search window appears in the same window and I can go with the key "down" or "up" over the pdf document.

  • How to prevent popup dialog from closing when commandbutton clicked

    Hi,
    I have a af:commandButton inside a popup dialog and the button action calls a method in backing bean. When this button is clicked I would like to run the method in backing bean and return control to the popup window. The method seem to run fine but the popup dialog closes automatically. Is there a way to prevent popup dialog from closing for this action?
    Thank you
    Kevin

    Hi Frank,
    Thanks for the link. I am not sure how to use this in my case. Following is part of what I am trying
    <af:popup ...>
    <af:dialog>
    <af:form usesUpload="true">
    <af:inputFile ..../>
    <af:commandButton text="upload" action="#{backingbean.uploadAction}"/>
    <af:outputText value="#{backingbean.filename} was successfully uploaded"/>
    </af:form>
    </af:dialog>
    </af:popup>
    When user clicks upload button I want to display a message that the file was successfully uploaded and keep the popup window open. But what happens now is once the file upload completes, the popup window closes automatically. This file upload part is not a must, user could skip doing the upload and instead input some text in a text area below (not shown in the code above). User could also just click cancel and exit the popup any time, so there is no mandatory field that I could check before closing the popup. Is there something I could do for this?
    thanks

  • "Firefox prevented this site from opening a pop-up window" - Interface with Kerio Connect 7.0.0 -

    I'm in a regional office. Corporate uses Kerio Connect 7.0.0 for email. Today 5/7/10 I started having problems whenever I open an email of ANY type, I can view it in viewing pane, but double clicking it gives me the message "Firefox prevented this site from opening a pop-up window." NOBODY ELSE in my company has had this problem (I have had it happen a few times in the past, but not ALL emails like today!). I am on my own in a regional office, so guidance would be greatly appreciated.

    I have tried this and it is not working. The only thing I can think of is that Firefox automatically upgraded to the 3.5 version I believe sometime last week, which is when I truly began to see the problem.
    No wonder I have avoided upgrading! It seems to me that Firefox STILL has not corrected this problem.
    I have seen multiple people as late as last week complaining @ same issue and they are reverting back to FF 3.0.
    Sound like this is my only solution.
    If anyone has any other ideas, please let me know.

  • Can't prevent unwanted toolbar from loading in Acrobat Pro 9

    I downloaded an evaluation copy of EverMap AutoBookmark plug-in.  I prefer not to automatically open toolbars that I don't use regularly when first opening Acrobat, but I can't keep the AutoBookmark toolbars from loading, even if I uncheck those particular toolbars.  EverMap support claims that it is a problem in Acrobat.  I have also had the same issue with a free plug-in from the Acrobat for Legal Professionals site. Plug-ins work fine, but I can't prevent the toolbars from loading on startup.
    Anyone else experience this issue?

    Sometimes it is simplest to simply enter the Acrobat folder and move the plugins that are a problem. Just copy then to a backup so you can put them back when you need them. I think that the presence or absence of the plugins is all that Acrobat needs.

  • Prevent pencil tool from closing paths in illustrator cc

    How do I prevent for the pencil tool from closing my path when I'm drawing. It used to be that you hold the option key to make it close a path. But now it closes the path automatically and it's very annoying because I don't want all the paths to close. For example, if you are drawing a small semi circle, the tool as soon as it feels it's close to the beginning  point it will close it automatically. I'm trying to find and option or a button to press to prevent it from doing this.

    Hey Kris thanks for your reply, but the semi circle example was just to illustrate the problem.  I use the pencil to sketch a lot, so it's not necessarily semi circles but any object, doodle or whatever you are drawing. As soon as you get close to your starting point, illustrator feels the need to close that path. Wether I want to close it or not. I think you just pointed out the big issue here. Now, since it's decided to close a path, I have to add extra steps to get what I want. And if you are drawing many, many similar objects, it becomes impossible to use.
    Ascotto: That is also my point. The Pencil preference panel didn't change much from the previous versions except for the "Option toggles to Smooth Tool", which, by the way, thank you Adobe, for including that. Because as much as I like the new strait line feature, I also like to smooth and edit my selected paths with the option key a lot. So why didn't they include a turn OFF Close Paths option?

  • How do prevent HTML snippets from being listed on search engines?

    I just created a new website using iWeb 3.0.1. On a couple of my pages I embedded flash music players and video players using the HTML Snippet widget. I did a quick search of my website on google and noticed that the HTML widgets were showing in the results as separate pages. I then clicked on these HTML Snippet pages and up came the widget on a separate page by itself. How do I prevent search engines from listing any HTML Snippets on my iWeb site as separate pages?
    Thanks

    Paste this in the HTML Snippet.
    In the <body> ... </body> part you paste the code you currently use for your Snippet.
    I haven't tried it, the noindex part, but the code itself is accepted by iWeb.

  • How can I prevent my tabs from loading the Tuvaro search page?

    I have tried everything listed in the popular articles for this. Firefox shows my home page when I open it (yay!) but new tabs - tabs specifically - still default to the Tuvaro search engine. I have gone into "about:config" and reset the "browser.newtab.url" setting, and it works! But when I close Firefox and open it back up again, the string has been replaced on "Browser.newtab.url" and my tabs default to Tuvaro again. As stated previously, I've uninstalled ALL bloatware from my (brand new) computer, fixed the shortcuts, cleaned my registry, and reset firefox. This one detail just refuses to be fixed.
    Thank you!

    Hello SkyeVeran, check if exist inside the "Programs" in windows, go from Start button > Control Panel > Programs > Uninstall a program or Program and Features > find it and uninstall, also uninstall any other unwanted suspicious program.
    also, check if exist in your extensions, click the 3-bar menu button > Add-ons > Extensions or Appearance > select if exist as an add-on > click Remove button.
    after the above, Reset Firefox
    To Reset Firefox do the following:
    #Click the menu button [[Image:New Fx Menu]], click help [[Image:Help-29]] and select ''Troubleshooting Information''.Now, a new tab containing your troubleshooting information should open.
    #At the top right corner of the page, you should see a button that says "Reset Firefox"[[Image:Button reset]]. Click on it.
    #Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
    #Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.
    Further information can be found in the [[Reset Firefox – easily fix most problems]] article.
    Thank you.

  • Prevent ESC key from closing movie

    Hi!
    Can anyone please advise me how to stop a movie closing when the ESC key is pressed.
    I have a dialog function that opens another movie to confirm quit.
    I would prefer it to minimize instead of simply closing with no warning.
    Many Thanks
    Sarah

    You set 'the exitLock' to TRUE - check the docs for more details. Also, once the exitLock is true, you can implement an 'on closeRequest' handler to detect your using pressing the ESC key, or clicking the close box on the titlebar.

  • How can I prevent the softKeyboard from going full screen in landscape mode on mobile app?

    When I put an Input TextField on stage in an ActionScript Mobile project and click on it, the softkeyboard comes up but behaves differently when in portrait or in landscape.  In portrait, the softkeyboard comes up and allows me to edit my field without hiding.  In Landscape, the softkeyboard goes into fullscreen mode and I can no longer see my app in the background.  I would like for Landscape mode to bring up the softkeyboard but not overlay my app with a text area.  Is there a way to configure this?

    My app runs in landscape and I hated the default Android behavior so I used a heavily customized virtual keyboard instead. It's a bit slow but it works:

    Hi Daveio,

  • How can I prevent a tab from chaning into a new window by itself

    When I play a video, and open another tab, the tab with the video will sometimes change into a whole new window. I don't click anything specific to make the tab change into a window, it will just do it a few minutes after I open the new tab. Does anyone have a clue on how to prevent this. Thank you!

    Make sure that you do not drag a tab in the browser window.<br />
    Current Firefox versions have a feature called tear-off tabs.<br />
    You can detach a tab from the current window and open it in a new window by dragging a tab in the browser window.<br />
    You can drag that tab back to the tab bar in the original window to undo that detaching.
