Prevent Hourly Employees from Ordering Non-stocked Materials and Creating Purchase Reqs in Work Order

Our SAP plant maintenance system is configured to create a purchase req when a non-stocked material is ordered. We would like to prevent hourly employees from creating a purchase req or ordering non-stocked materials. Only supervisors should be able to order non-stocked materials and create a purchase req. Is there a way to do this via config or system enhancement?

Clearly there will be 2 ways if not more. One is the Authorization object route and another is Enhancement route. I'm not going to touch the former one. So let's expect answers from other members for that. For the later one, we need to know the answer for the question below:
'Can we distinguish the hourly employees from regular employees by the user-Id or some other means? If yes, how ?'
Once we know this, we need to use some user-exit or enhancement spot of the program SAPLCOIH to capture the event of 'N' in the ItemCategory field of Components tab by such UserIds and trigger an error message.  (Suitable user-exit is not striking my mind, so this might go the implicit enhancement way of Order program SAPLCOIH ).

    For automatic PO creation follow the steps.
    1) Material Master purchasing view tick automatic PO check box  (Material type NLAG)
    2) Vendor Master purchasing view tick automatic PO check box.
    3) Maintain Source list for Vendor & Material.
    4) Maintain Purchase Info Record.
    5) Create a Purchase Requisition.
    6) Use T.Code: ME59N & execute for PR for vendor, you will be able to create automatic PO.
    Note
    Ensure that Purchase Info Record should be there.
    If you have more than one vendor then fixes only one vendor in source list.
    During PR creation select source determination check box.

    Non-stock : Materials ready for use/Consumption and available anytime  Ex: Electricity,Water etc..,.
    Non-valuated : Nonvaluated materials are managed on a quantity basis, but not by value.
    Ex: Plastic bags in retail malls

    if you do not use networks or want to raise PR sepertely i.e. not vai network then go to transaction ME51N and use acc asssgn cat P
    then account assign the WBS to the requisition

    non-valuated material (Material Type UNBW):
    This type of material is managed on a quantity basis, but not on a value basis. This makes sense for materials of low value, stocks of which nevertheless have to be monitored (for example, operating manuals).
    Non-stock material (NLAG) (Material Type NLAG):
    Inventory management is not possible for these materials either on a quantity or value basis. For frequently required consumables, the use of this material type nevertheless enables you to store the information required to create
    purchasing documents (such as texts and units of measure).
    When a material is procured directly for consumption, no material master record is necessary. In connection with consumable materials, you can distinguish between the following cases:
    • Consumable material without material master record
    • Consumable material with material master record that is not subject to
    inventory management (on either a quantity or value basis)
    • Consumable material with material master record that is subject to inventory management on a quantity, but not a value, basis

    1.A.  non stoc material goes with NLAG Eg: Office supplies such as stationary & service materials goes with DIEN material type
    2) The difference between text material and service material?
    2.A. there is no any text material as a seperate master data in MMR &  DIEN (services).

    We have Work Order Process where Purchase Requisition for Material & Services are created with reference to Work Order . We have chosen the Option (from release), which means PR is created once the Order is released.
    Our requirement is always from release and when the work order released, system to pick the user details of Work Order Creator (not Work Order Release).

    Dear Chaitanya,
    When the work Order is released, system creates the Purchase Requisition and in this case PR Creator is the person who has released the Work Order.
    In Work Order log, we know the details  such as, who has created the Work Order and who has released. As SAP standard, Work Order release person is the PR Creator as we have made the setting with From Release.
    Our Requirement is on PR creation, system to take the user details of Work Order Creator. This would help to determine the PR approval process in a better way.

    You must enable iTunes Match on the new computer.     A "clicking noise" is often a sign that a hard drive is malfunctioning. Suggest that you power down the device and take it to an Apple store to have them take a look, or contact Customer Service at Apple for instructions.

    You can use 'BAPI_REQUISITION_CREATE' for the purchase requisition creation if through transaction, you use transaction ME51N for creating the purchase requisition.

    Hi,
    I'm wondering if someone can help?
    We have a need to created materials for service products such as Installation, Commissioning, Training etc.
    Is there a way of setting up these products as non-stocked, non-deliverable items so that they won't appear as demand on our factory. I also need to make sure these products are excluded from any discount pricing.

    Mike,
    You may create the material master with material type as DIEN service, make sure the item category group as LEIS. If the item category group as LEIS, system will propose item categy as TAD based on the item categroy determination in customising. It should propose CD as schedule line, there will not be any requirement generated, no delivery ...etc.
    You may control the billing and pricing relevency through the customisaton of the item category TAD.

    For non-stock item requirement in PM, we create a maintenance order and indicate item category as "N" in components tab. Accordingly a purchase requisition is created as per configuration. We have assigned PR doc. Type “FO – Framework requisition” for Maintenance Order Category.
    SPRO - PLANT MAINTENANCE & CS - Maintenance and Service Processing - Maintenance and Service Orders - General Data - Define Account Assignment Cat. and Document Type for Purchase Requisitions
    Now according to the new requirement, we need to have different PR Doc type as per CONTROL KEY mentioned in the Maintenance Order.
    Example:
    If the Control Key is “PM01 - Plant maintenance – internal” the purchase requisition document type should be “NB – Purchase Requisition”. If the Control Key is “PM03 - Plant maintenance-External(services)” the purchase requisition document type should be “FO – Framework Requisition”.
    Please advise how to configure the same.

    This is a simple enhancement. In our scenario, we had configured PR document type "FO" in SPRO settings for "Document Type for Purchase Requisitions".
    Hence to have "NB" PR document type whenever material components are being indented through maintenance order, we used this enhancement COZF0002
    Please instruct your abaper to add similar logic, as shown below.
    Enhancement:COZF0002
    Functional module:EXIT_SAPLCOZF_002
    Include: ZXCOZU02
    Logic:
    IF sy-tcode eq 'IW21' or sy-tcode eq 'IW22' OR sy-tcode eq 'IW28'  OR sy-tcode eq 'IW31' or sy-tcode eq 'IW32'  OR sy-tcode eq 'IW38' .
