Prevent images from loading

Is there anyway I could stop images from loading unless I ask safari to load them? There is a feature like this in apple's mail program that I use and would like to use it in safari also. I'm so tired of seeing advertisments with half-naked women and other perverted things as well.

How to prevent images from loading?

I am working on creating a web gallery in Dreamweaver CS3. The thumbnails are in a horizontal strip within a layer above the full sized image layer, in other words the strip is hiding part of the image, but only when the image is in a vertical orientation. (the strip has no background, so all that is visible are the actual thumbnails) Upon clicking show/hide text , in a toggle configuration, the strip fades, or shows. On my computer it works perfectly. However, once uploaded, it takes forever to load the images.
The problem: Although I have the thumbnail images are set to preload, all of the full size images are loading as well, which takes alot of time. Is there a way to prevent the full sized images from loading, i.e. only when the thumbnail is clicked?
Frames, in which one frame is thumbnails, and another the is images, is what I normally would use, and have a page for each image. However, for what I have in mind, it will not work (transparency on parts of one frame above another is as far as I can tell not possible).
So how do I prevent images from loading until called for? regards~bill-o

t would help if you posted a link to the page, but I can guess that you have properly diagnosed the cause - the page is encumbered with the weight of all of the full-sized images.
The only way to not have this happen would be to dynamically write the link to the full sized-images on demand, as it were. In other words, the link ISN'T EVEN ON THE PAGE until you have clicked on the corresponding thumbnail, and only at that point is the weight of that image experienced. One easy way to do this is to use the SetText of Container behavior that is part of DW's native arsenal of behaviors. When the thumb is clicked, the SetText behavior is called to write the image link into the enlarged image's container. Need to see a demo? Look here -

The behavior is called "Set Text of Container", and using it will meet all of your requirements.
To use it, you will have to have the following:
1. A page with a 'container' which is to receive the enlarged image - this could be a table cell, a paragraph tag, a div, or even a span tag.
2. That container will have to be identified with an ID attribute and a valid value, e.g., <div id="enlargedImage">.
3. A dummy page containing each enlarged image, placed sequentially on the page.
To implement the effect, do the following:
1. Open the dummy page in Code view, and select the first image's tag, e.g., <img src="images/foo.jpg" width="123" height="256" alt="whatever" /> (XHTML syntax shown here).
2. Switch to the actual page, select a thumb that will 'open' this enlarged image, and enter "javascript:;" (that's colon semicolon) in the 'Link' field of the Property inspector to make this thumbnail image a null link.
3. Apply the Set Text of Container behavior.
4. Paste the clipboard into the dialog for the behavior, and click OK to close the dialog.
5. Examine the Behavior panel to see which mouse event has been defaulted - probably 'onclick'. If you would rather have this be 'onmouseover' use the Behavior panel Event selector (the dark triangle to the right of the event name) to select 'onmouseover'.
5. Repeat from #1 above until all thumbs have been treated.

How to prevent images from loading with google search results?

Since I updated to FireFox 18 I have been getting images (miniature webpages) with my search results with Google. I thought it was a google problem but I don't have the problem in IE.
Please advise.

How do I stop youtube images from loading after trying to do so in the options?

I have gone into Options under Tools and unchecked the "Load images automatically" box, restarted my computer, and typed in the google search bar, Adrienne Barbeau. Various hits come up, but the one I select is the Adrienne Barbeau Voluptuous link. It is a youtube video. I select it and it loads and plays! Along the right side of the page are other videos whose images also load. So what I did in Options did not work. Then I tried leaving that box checked and clicking on "Exceptions". I typed in "www.youtube.com" and I clicked on "block" and then it was entered in the bigger box below the data entry field. Again, I closed that, clicked on OK, and then restarted my computer. Nothing happened. Nothing was blocked on youtube. There has to be a way to disable youtube images from loading! What is it?!

How do prevent firefox from loading(going to) a website(following a link, etc...) that i never want to see again(example: choose now & click on some link in the future)?

I go to a website(link, etc...) & I never want to go there again, but sometime(anytime) later I come across some page that seems to be useful. I click on a link, and the other required links until I find that it is a waste of time & I then kind of remember having been there in the past & have wasted all this time again. This happening for many different sites over time.

Is there a way to prevent Mail from loading non system fonts?

For over a year, and a system OS upgrade, Mail has been taking 7 - 10 minutes to load all the thousands of fonts I have on my computer for graphic design. This started with Snow Leopard on my 2009 Mac Pro (10 GB RAM, 2 TB HDD). At first I didn't know why the computer was taking such a long time to finish boot up. So I reformatted the drive--zeroing it out. Then I installed Mavericks and reinstalled everything else. Finally I tried logging the system activity during startup and noticed that something to do with fonts took up the biggest chunk of this time. Because Mavericks loads any programs you leave running at shut down, I saw that if Mail had the fonts window open, the list of fonts would slowly grow, filling up with the many font families I use for my work. I called tech support for my font management utility but they say the fonts are not in the system and and shouldn't affect the system during startup. In the end I gave up and just go drink a few coffees after hitting the start button. It's like going back to the early days 25 years ago.
Can I stop Mail from loading any non-system fonts? I never use anything but the default font.

It is possible to disable non-system fonts temporarily for all applications using the Font Book application. This article explains how to do so -

In situations where you'd like to prevent a font from being available in applications, but you don't want to completely remove the font from your Mac, you can use Font Book to disable the font.
In Font Book, click "All Fonts" in the Collection column.
Click the name of the font in the Font column.
Choose Disable "Font Name" Family from the Edit menu.
Since it might be problematic to have to disable each font individually, you can create a collection of fonts and disable the collection. See the article for how to create a font collection -
Organize fonts as collections
When working with fonts, you may discover that you use certain fonts frequently, but rarely use others. To make it easier to find the font you are looking for, you can organize your fonts into collections.
From the Font Book File menu, choose New Collection.
Type in a name for the new collection.

Drag the fonts that you want from the Font column onto the name of your new collection in the Collection column.

Firefox is preventing Java from loading Pogo games which require it

I have just updated to the latest Firefox and now java is being prevented from loading Pogo games which require it. I have unchecked the block popups box and enabled java script but each time I try to load I get a message on the java concol saying permission denied. I went to IE8 (yuck) and the game loaded fine.
Help please.

For as much as I spend on membership there I don't need these problems... I DIDN'T update my FF it happened automatically which * me off since i like to wait until all the bugs are gone...

How prevent movie from loading completely before playing?

Hi,
how do I prevent an swf from loading completely before
starting to play in the browser? When simulating a download in the
Flash application, several preload stages work perfectly, but not
in the browser. Preload stages don't appear, instead it takes ages
for the 3.5 mb file to completely load before displaying the first
frame of the movie.
I have tried inversing the load order in export settings and
different flash versions, but just can't get it to work.
Can someone help? Thank you!

I thought it should be that way; the point is that I don't
want to add code that loads the entire movie before starting to
play the first frame, but only a certain number of frames (i.e. 11
out of 35, for example). I'm trying to do this with this code in
the first frame:

in the simulation, it works perfectly, but when uploading the
movie and viewing it in html, the entire thing loads, and the
preloader doesn't appear.

Based on my test, it works fine on my windows 8.1 with IE 11.
Firstly, we need to check the following:
1. Do you mean the issue is only occurred when you enable the enhanced protected mode?
2. How about other browsers? Do they also meet the same issue?
3. If there is a computer on the other network, please check if it also meets this issue.
Please try the following to check the issue:
1. Disable the security software temporarily and see if it works.
2. Reinstall the IE 11 for a test.

Disable every single web fonts in adobe muse and prevent it from loading open-sans:n3:all.js

I'm using Adobe Muse 2014.2 to build a Chinese site. The audience of the site is mainly people in mainland china, and I'm using a server from Hong Kong. Recently I just tested the site, however, it was loading extremely slow. In the end I found out that the cause of the slow loading was due to a file called "open-sans:n3:all.js" that was loaded from adobe webfonts.
Because a lot of sites are blocked in China, I think that Adobe Web Fonts (or typekit) is also blocked thus can't be loaded properly, causing the entire site to slow down.
Is there a way to disable all the webfonts in Muse and to prevent my site from loading this file?
Or is there a way I can host this file on my own server?

This was a snapshot that my friend in China sent to me. You can see that the open-sans:n3:all.js is taking extremely long to load.
Yet the funny thing is that I did not use any web fonts in my site. However Muse is still adding it in the code for some reason.

Errors preventing X from loading

When i run startx, I receive two errors, which read:
(EE) Failed to load module "speedo" (module does not exist, 0)
(EE) AIGLX: Screen O is not DRI capable
as best I recall, AIGLX is for ATI cards, and setting vesa to be the driver should prevent this from being an issue, which i tried.
I have no clue what speedo is, and i've searched here and on the rest of the al's great internet, and am yet to find what this is. I searched X.org an's wiki and got zero hits. How can that even be possible?
Im just trying to get X to work. Any suggestions will be appreciated and tried.

Well, although I can't remember having heard of the module "speedo" so far, I would try the following:
It it likely that X is trying to load this module because it finds a load command in the config file.
Open /etc/X11/xorg.conf in your favourite editor and look for a section called Module (Section "Module").
If there is a line in this section looking similar to Load "speedo", try to comment this line out.
(This is done with the '#' character (#Load "speedo").
Then try to restart the X server and look what happens. Because X is throwing another error with AIGLX it may be necessary to comment this line out, too (something like #Load "aiglx" or so).

i changed the value to -1 . And now in catalog cache statistics i see the following:
Configured expiration time: -60 min
Configured removal time: -60 min (next invalidation in -73 min)
Next check of remaining life time in 46 min (removal of catalogs with life time <= 0).
But still if another user logs in (2nd login) catalog is not read from ERP.
Is there any class i can enhance so that cache is never read?????
In R3MemCatalogBuilder class i see the code below: From my understanding it checks if there is catalog in memory and if not it connects to ERP. I have only extended Order Class so far and i do not understand how to extend this specific class.. Where should i register it???

How do I prevent firefox from loading page when I type in first few letters?

I am giving my laptop to my daughter. I deleted history and emptied cache. Yet if she were to type the letter 'c', an adult site I have visited pops up - WITH MY USERNAME AND PASSWORD ALREADY TYPED IN! This gives her full access to my adult activity on the site.
How do I prevent this from happening? I want to totally remove this site from firefox's 'memory', especially the username and password.

To log you out of all websites your gonna want to clear the cookies:
* Firefox in top left corner > Options > Privacy > Show Cookies >Remove all Cookies
I would also recommend resetting Firefox if you are no longer gonna use it yourself :

Possible to prevent Firefox from loading two versions of Flash, without disabling PLID scan?

Our IT department—what a great way to start a question—does not roll out regular updates for Flash. To bridge this security gap for Firefox on my work computer, I copy the following files:
* flashplayer.xpt
* FlashPlayerPlugin_<version>.exe
* FlashUtil32_<version>_Plugin.exe
* NPSWF32_<version>.dll
from C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash on another machine and paste them to
C:\Users\<myusername>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Plugins on my work machine. When Firefox starts, it scans the various locations (http://kb.mozillazine.org/Plugin_scanning) and finds both this version and of course the outdated version originally installed, which IT does not update (currently 11.1.102.55). This effectively updates Flash, and until IT finds a solution to distribute updates I'll have to continue to update Flash manually (Java is unfortunately not so easy to fix), but still leaves me with a problem.
My perceived problem is that Firefox still scans the default installation directory of Flash and thus finds the outdated version. Under Add-ons > Plug-ins, I can select from "Ask to Activate," "Always Activate" and "Never Activate." If I select "Ask to Activate" for the current version (12.0.0.43) and "Never Activate" for the old version (11.1.102.55), upon restarting Firefox it sets both to "Ask to Activate." I conclude that Firefox does not treat separate Flash versions independently. Since constantly being prompted to activate Flash is bothersome, I could just set both to "Always Activate," but that leaves an old, even-more-compromised-than-the-current version of Flash activated.
The best solution, I suppose, would be to uninstall the outdated version of Flash, but I don't have the administrative rights to do so, and don't want to pester our IT administrators. I could prevent Firefox from scanning the directories specified in the Windows registry for PLIDs (see above link), but this would prevent it from finding my also-outdated-but-only-installed Java Plug-In, which I keep thinking I need. The behavior I'm after is to prevent Firefox from scanning or finding the old Flash version, while still finding my Java Plug-in. How could I go about this?

Maybe you can check the pluginreg.dat file to see if you can disable/remove the other Flash plugin and make the file read-only to prevent changes.

Illustrator settings stopping images from loading.

Files i've previously created in illustrator and exported to PDF now give me and error when opening both the origonal file and the PDF. I am told the pictures within it cannot be found, and i am asked to repair/replace/etc. - when sending these raw files to another Adobe user, they can open the file and see all the images - and when i open the PDF in acrobat i can see them all fine. But when i open the PDF/AI in illustrator it tells me the images cannot be found.
This is obviously a setting within my illustrator - i just dont know where to find this - as now im having to re-use these files and this makes it all but impossible to work with them.
Any help is appreciated.

Were the original AI files saved with PDF compatbility enables? Yes
Were the PDFs saved with AI Editability enabled? Yes
Have you tried opening the PDF in Photoshop and selecting only the images. It should be able to resave the images from Photoshop and then relink in AI.
This isnt what i want - i can re-save the images as is with acrobat, i want this "cache" thats in the background to disspear and show me the images embedded, rather than hiding them in-favour of looking for a live image. I have over 300 imges over the booklet im doing - so i want illustrator to do what its told and let me re-use these pages without me having to save more images and link them again, then have the same problem later in the future
