Prevent iTunes list of played tracks

Is there some way I can disable iTunes list of played tracks in the "Music" list?
Don't know what its called in english version.. Recent / Played / Music. I don't use libraries
It keeps a gigantic list with every track I have played
I don't need that list, never have, never will

You mean it seems like you cannot explain your exact case.
I want to understand exactly and I do understand exactly what you wrote.
I'm using my filesystem instead of iTunes libraries. Don't need it
It seems like you do not understand how iTunes or computers work.
You ARE using an iTunes library.
An iTunes library consists of the iTunes folder and all the media wherever this media is located.
You NEED an iTunes library if you use iTunes.
The iTunes library uses your filesystem.
I cannot delete that playlist
Select the Recently Added playlist and press Delete.

  • ITunes lists my album tracks backwards

I'm using iTunes 7 on my new 24" iMac but I noticed it lists my album tracks backwards.  For example, when I go to the middle Album view, it lists all of my albums with all of the tracks in that album, but they are numbered last to first as you read top to bottom.  This not only looks weird, but it prevents me from playing a whole album continuously from beginning to end.  Thanks for any help you can give me.

    Hi, Ixnayx51.
Have you tried clicking the Track # column heading to assure the tracks are in ascending order by track number? Likewise, in Album View, clicking the Album column heading label repeatedly will put all albums in ascending order by album and related fields, as well as by track number within album.
If the Track # column is not displayed, Control-click any column heading and select it from the resulting contextual menu.
FYI: iTunes questions should be posted on the iTunes Discussion.
    Good luck!

  • Moved Library from one Mac to another. iTunes won't play tracks in order.

    Hi
I moved all my iTunes music from my Mac Pro to my MacBook Pro by simply moving the "iTunes" folder from one to the other. There wasn't anything in the MacBook Pro iTunes folder so I just deleted it and replaced it with the one from my Mac Pro.
However although all looks just right in the iTunes browser when I open it up, unfortunately iTunes won't play the tracks in order.
If I play a track on one album when it comes to the end of that, it doesn't continue with the next track on that album, but rather skips to the first track of a later album.
I wonder if anyone has any suggestions for how I might remedy this?

I don't use it, no.  I've been reading about it recently, and it was an example of where the quality of a Song can change if it is downloaded from iTunes Match.
I've used Home Sharing though, as follows:
    1. Copy music from CD to iTunes on Windows PC
    2. Transfer music from Windows PC to iMac using Home Sharing
I do this becasue the iMac doesn't have a optical drive.  I haven't checked to see if the quality has changed, but I assume it just copies the files so it wouldn't make sense if the quality had changed.

  • Itunes won't play tracks purchased from iTunes.

    Hi guys,
I have reported this problem to apply but no reply. I have autherized, deautherized and re-autherized lots of times and looked for advice on here but cant seem to get it to work.
On 2 albums I brought several of the tracks wont play, they just get skipped over. They have definately been downloaded as they all play fine on my iphone.
If you can answer this please can yoou put step-by-step instructions as this stuff is so confusing.
    Many thanks Caz

I just went through this as well. I had an old account that I was using for purchase, subsequently signed up for a .Mac account and started buying music that way. This was all years ago. Apparently during the switch I attempted to merge the old account with the .Mac account, which is not allowed nor doable. I also had changed the email addy I used for the ID on the original account several times, such that music I had purchased on the original account were listed as having been purchased by two obsolete email addresses. The problem was that I had changed the ID on the old account to yet another email address but never actually purchased music with that address (this was probably at the same time I was trying to merge everything under the .Mac ID), so I had no record of that Apple ID.
iTunes support was able to recover that ID, fortunately I recalled the old password, now my computers are happily authorized.

  • ITunes plays track with no sound

    Hi,
I have had this problem for a while. I play music on iTunes and sometimes (it seems random) iTunes will keep playing tracks but no sound will get out of the speakers, until I manually click a new track.
My music is on my Time capsule and I use airTunes. These are the only "peculiarities" of my configuration.
    Has anyone had this problem?
    Thanks for your help.

    Hi pajd,
I have also had this problem. I had it a while ago and I reset my iMac (intel) and the problem seemed to go away but the last few days it has returned. I thought it might have been when TimeMachine was running but I disabled this and I still have the problem.
Think it sounds the same as what you are describing and what people on other forums describe a year or so ago. My iTunes just randomly cuts out when playing songs sometimes just for a few seconds, it looks like iTunes is till playing but there is no sound and then the song returns. On some of the other forums I've ready people talk about this just being when using AirTunes but I am having the problem just using my internal speakers in my iMac.
I'm trying to determine whether this happens to purchased music aswell as too imported CD's.
Any help on this would be much appreciated as it is getting to the point where I can not use iTunes.

  • ITunes Match only plays songs that were uploaded to the Cloud

I posted this once before back a couple of months ago and never did get it working.
I have an iPhone 4s and I purchased iTunes match about a year ago. My library was about 5,000 songs.  I was able to use iTunes Match flawlessly on cellular or WiFi and play any of my music.  Then I upgraded to iOS7, big mistake.  Ever since that upgrade back in September, when I am on cellular I can only play music that was not matched but uploaded to the cloud.  For example, when in my car I can play a live Phish show that I added to iTunes and that was uploaded to the cloud when I updated iTunes Match from my laptop, but I can't play the Rolling Stones Sticky Fingers because it was matched and not uploaded.
I have reset the phone to factory and manullay installed my apps again.  I have turned off match and reset my phone, crossed my fingers, etc...
What happens when I try to play a "matched album" on cellular, it acts like it is going to play but sits at 0:00 for about 20 seconds and then skips ahead and attempts to play the next track.  Everything plays fine on WiFi.
Has anyone lese had this issue and if so any suggesttions?  I am so frustrated with the whole experience right now.  I just went to the support page to submit a ticket to Apple and apparently I don't have support anymore because I have the phone for a year. I don't what to do.

Another oddity I just discovered is that if I turn on wifi hotspot on my phone and connect my iMac to my phone's 3G service then iTunes on my iMac will stream music just fine from iTunes match (yes, the music was only in the cloud, not on my drive).
I've tried everything I can think of to get iTunes Match to play tracks over cellular.. including totally deauthorizing all my computers and devices, totally removing all tracks my itunes match in the cloud and re-scanning/uploading everything. Purchased new tracks, and they won't play unless they are downloaded. But they will play just fine when previeing them for purchase in iTunes app.

  • Itunes will not play my music, when it does it plays for about 10 seconds then speeds through the rest of the song then jumps through the nexts songs in the album, anyone got any ideas dont have a clue

    Hi anyone
i am having a problem with itunes, i cannot play tracks and when they do play they play for about 10 seconds then speed through to the end then jump down the next few tracks.
Getting really frustrated as i am a complete novice on this type of thing, any help would be appreciated. i have uninstalled itunes and reinstalled no joy

Dave, you are a god among mere mortal men!
I had used the check to only load certain tracks on my iPod mini that my kids use, while loading everything on my iPod 60GB.
I guess I should come up with a different method for that.
Thank you for clueing me in on how the checkmark works.
I'm a happy man once again.

  • When playing songs in iTunes playlist, How do you keep the next song from jumping to next song? I am working on song list updating other tracks info and then the next song starts and I lose my spot in song list?

When playing songs in iTunes playlist, How do you keep the next song from jumping to next song? I am working on song list updating other tracks info and then the next song starts and I lose my spot in song list?

    Max OSX 10.6.8, iTunes 11.1
I had a similar problem: I wanted to synch my playlist to my iphone. I like to have my playlist sorted by genre. But under each genre, albums are not sorted by the track numbers. This is a problem, especially when I am listening to club mixes when the DJ smoothly transitions from 1 track sequentially to the next one. Under the properties of each audio file, the Track Numbers and Disc Numbers are already there.
My perfect solution was to turn On Sorting - Sort Album under View>Show View Options. Then, select all the songs in that album (Shift click, Cmd click, etc) , and Edit multiple item information (Cmd I). You will see Info-Video-Sorting-Options buttons. Click on Sorting. Then, under Sort Album, Enter the name of the album. Then OK.
You should now have the playlist sorted by Genre, then each album individually sorted by track numbers. On your playlist you should see, if you scroll right, the column added called "Sort Album".
    Hope this helps.

  • Playing Tracks one At a Time In ITunes

    Hi.
I am a totally blind person who uses ITunes. I noticed that when playing a track from an album I have purchased from the ITunes store, it plays the rest of the tracks from that album as one playlist, rather than just playing one track at a time.
Is there a way to set ITunes to play one track at a time instead of as a playlist? If so, is there someone out there who is also visually impaired that uses ITunes for Windows and this forum that could possibly provide me with step by step instructions using key strokes on how to fix this problem?
Please let me know whenever possible. Thank you very much.
    Rob Bendtzen

Beside the songs in iTunes are little check boxes. If songs are unchecked then they have to be clicked on individually to play them. So by unchecking you can play songs individually and not have them play one after another. Holding down the CRTL (Control) key and clicking beside any song in a list or library will toggle the check marks in the boxes on or off.

  • My iTunes doesn't keep track of my listening history anymore. It doesn't update play counts and default "Recently Played" playlist.

My iTunes doesn't keep track of my listening history anymore. It doesn't update play counts and default "Recently Played" playlist. But it still tracking plays from my iPhone and syncing them.
I've tried to repair it with setup file. Nothing's changed.
Can you help me with that?
NOTE: Now I tried disabling the crossfade feature and it worked, started to count again. But I like crossfade, I don't want to keep it off.

I think I got this figured out. The playcount does update, but not how the previous iPod models update their playcount. Instead of immediately updating the playcount right after you finish the song like the older iPod models, iPod Touch keeps the updates in memory. The next time you connect to iTunes it'll sync those playcounts in memory to the actual songs itself, effectively updating the playcount of the songs only after connecting to iTunes. I have set my syncing manually. That's why after connecting to iTunes, my playcounts are updated. BUT it doesn't solve the mystery of my Smart Playlist. Even though in iTunes, the correct songs are listed, in the iPod Touch, it shows the old playlist.
Don't you just hate that? It was working fine before on non-iPod touch models. Now we have to live with this new bug. I just hope when they release software 2.0 it fixes these bugs and that they *give it for free!* People shouldn't be charged on something they should have gotten as a support!

  • How do I prevent itunes from moving my music from its original place ie folders in an external drive when I play music from itunes. I have all my music in artist folders and separated by MPG3/MPG4 and FLAC folder within the artist folder.

How do I prevent itunes from moving my music from its original place ie folders in an external drive when I play music from itunes. I have all my music in artist folders and separated by MPG3/MPG4 and FLAC folders within the artist folder and itunes moves the track/s whenever i try and load selected music to my ipod/iphone. I've tried to find some sort of preference to prevent this, but no joy? What am I missing?

Try opening iTunes preferences. Then click on advanced tab. Then uncheck "Copy files to iTunes media folder when adding to library." By default, iTunes copies music to its own media folder when you use iTunes to play the music.

  • I cant shuffle tracks in playlists like before on latest itunes and when playing ipod through car stereo it will only placks in the 'correct'order - even if i select shuffle on the ipod itself.

i mostly use my ipod in a car system through the oe radio  (audi a4) - if you connect an ipod and play tracks, evene when setting songs to shuffle it stil plays in the correct order.
in the past i have made and shuffled playlists then they played fine. since 'upgrading' to the latest itunes it does not now let me do this. you can shuffle tracks but it does not physically re-list the tracks like it used to.
any help on this woulod be greatly appreciated!
    thanks

  • ITunes playing tracks out of order

Ever since upgrading to iTunes 11 I've had a problem with some albums playing tracks out of order.
I put the track number in the file names and track titles, so sometimes I leave the track number field blank. Not a problem, because iTunes sorts the tracks alphabetically so it lists them in the right order.
In album view, if I select the first track, it plays all the tracks in the right order. But if I select the album, either by double-clicking the album cover or by searching for it from the mini player, it plays them in a random order.
This makes no sense. What's going on here?

So that's an obvious solution (and what I just did in this particular case). But it's an annoying bit of extra work and, more importantly, since it was never necessary before, I have a lot of albums which don't have track numbers. Because, as I said, they always displayed and played in the correct order regardless. So the track number tag was extraneous.
What I'm wondering is whether there's a fix for this behavior.
And also whether it's possible to implore the iTunes development team to fix this! If the tracks are listed in a certain order, they should always play in that order.

  • TS1718 I can't get iTunes to simply play the next song on the list

I can't get iTunes to simply play the next song on the list. It simply stops after playing one song.

That's consistent with all the tickboxes to the left of the tracks (in Song view) being unchecked.
Go into Song view and Ctrl-click (on Windows) or Command-click (on Mac OS) one of the empty boxes to do a "global recheck".
If you can't see the tickboxes, head into your General preferences tab and select "Show list tickboxes" as per the following screenshot (it's for an earlier version of iTunes, but the boxes are in roughly the same place in the recent versions 11.x):
