Prevent save a copy

Hi i'm using adobe designer 7 and have built a form which has certain required fields. i have to post it on my website so people can fill in the form but sometimes people save a copy a mail it, leaving out required fields.
1. is there a way to prevent 'save a copy' altogether?
2. is there a way to prevent 'save a copy' or 'save as' or related without filling in required fields?
thanks in advance.

You cannot stop saving at any time.
You could consider something like having a "form incomplete" field,
which your logic makes vanish when the form is completed. This draws
attention to the form having a problem.

  • How to prevent the "save a copy" option

    using Acrobat Pro 7.0
When I set the security to "don't allow editing", and open the pdf  with Acrobat reader, the save button is disabled, as expected.
But when I place this same pdf on a webpage, using code shown below, when the pdf displays within the browser, a "Save a copy" button allows the file to be saved. How do I prevent my file from being saved when I show it in the webpage ?  I only want the user to view my pdf on a web page - not saving and  printing.
    <a href="test.pdf">test </a>
Also, what is the best way to present a pdf in a website
          a) use a href link
          b) use the save as html option ? (this does not do a good job when the pdf has images)_
    thanks

You might say that this is the nature of computers. To view "any" fie, a copy has to be saved on your machine somewhere. Web or otherwise.

  • Security - Preventing "Save As" Functionality

I am a user of Version 8 and have established password security in its strictest form.  My problem is that the Save As functionality is not prevented.  So you can perform a Save As file operation.  The new file does retain all the password security that was established with the parent file.  I need to find a way to prevent the Save As file operation from being performed.  As it is, when posted a pdf on the web, the user can still save a copy to their system.  I am having a tremendous problem with copyright infringement.
    Any suggestions?

What is a bid process issues?  The files is question are public display for free genealogical research.  So you want the user to view the file, but not copy or edit the file.  Preferentially, I would not be adverse to printing.  But print to scan to reformat is an easy step; so no printing.  I also wish to prevent screen extraction / mining / scraping whatever it is called.  Which, I believe, would stop most data miners.  But I use FreeFind to index my pdf data files for the search capability that is provided.  Although FreeFind contends that it will block their index; I need to put it to the test.  I would hate to lose search capabilities.
For the low to average user PDF security is a low cost and effective approach to copyright infringement.

As others have already said, it can't be done, period. That's
    the nature
of the medium. If you cannot risk the content being copied,
    then don't
put it on a Web site. Even a protected PDF could be printed
    and scanned
in OCR software or the password could simply be cracked. The
    Web is
insecure by nature. If any content (text, images, PDF's
    whatever)
reaches the user's browser, it's theirs to copy.
just disabling right-click is not enough
It's not only not enough, it's completely and utterly
    pointless and
ineffectual and it's a very bad idea to begin with:

  • Restrict sensitive document leakage from Printing, "Save as", Copying and Priting screen?

Our President highly suspected some of our staff who have sold the confidential documents to competitors but we do not have enough proof. How can we restrict sensitive data leakage from Printing, "Save as", Copying and Priting screen?
Thank you for your advice in advance.

Adobe LiveCycle Rights Management can apply DRM to a PDF file, which prevents printing and content extraction, and links access to the document to a user login - but there is no way to prevent that user saving a copy of the file to disk or a USB drive, or making multiple copies, no from telling someone else their login details. You can revoke access remotely if you suspect a copy has been stolen, but there's no DRM solution for PDF files which can lock the content to a hardware platform, for example in the way a copy of Windows "activates" itself. Opening and copying a file are two entirely-different concepts, and if a LCDRM-encrypted file is published to the Web without the login details to open it, we can be absolutely certain it cannot be cracked as the encryption hashes used by Adobe are so complex they would take billions of years to break, even with government-level resources. Naturally if a user reveals their login details to someone, LiveCycle's audit trail will prove this and you can take legal action against that user, but they may not care if the document has sufficient value.
Using PDF there is no way to block access to the Print Screen button. Some third-party software converts the PDF into a proprietary file format which only opens in their own software, that in turn attempts to block the print screen keystroke, but it's not hack-proof and the resulting file is of course no longer a PDF. Ultimately if you can see something on screen you can always copy it, either by use of a custom display driver, remote-desktop system or photographing the screen with a cellphone camera, and re-OCRing the pages from those photos.
Where documents are sufficiently-important to require a guarantee that on-screen reading is the only possible thing a user can do once the file is opened, they should be restricted to using hardware in secured locations, where network access, printers, USB ports etc. can all be removed. This is the approach taken by many enterprise and public-sector agencies; but once a document is distributed to an unregulated location there will always be a way around copy protection on page content if a user can open the file and view it on screen. While there are some interactive page elements in PDF which are harder to "screen scrape" than others (SWF, video and 3D), it can be done. The only elements of a PDF file which can be guaranteed secure even in an unsecure location are invisible features such as scripts when the PDF is protected using LCDRM to ensure it cannot be opened in third-party software.

  • Help !!!!!! How do you save a copy of your Zen player's content before formatti

How do you Save a copy of your Zen player's content before formatting? I have no clue how? I don't want to go through the trouble of re-downloading everything back to my player? Someone Please Help me!!!

If you reformat the player you'll be erasing all the flash memory. There is no way to avoid re-downloading your content since it isn't going to reappear by magic.
Normally the PC you use as your primary media library has a copy of all your ripped/downloaded stuff already. I don't see why you're opposed to syncing it back to the player after you reformatting. ?Regardless, if the player isn't frozen or otherwise misbehaving you should be able to drag-and-drop copy to contents to a handy PC with enough space. If you have DRM-controlled content at minimum you'll have to re-sync the associated licenses to make them play again once you copy them back since you can't retrieve the DRM keys off the player. It probably won't prevent you from copying the encrypted files themselves although it may; DRM systems almost uni'versally support a "No Copy" flag for content on the player to prevent copying it back the rights holder chooses to flag the content that way.
If you're just updating the firmware of the player the contents are unlikely to be damaged in the process (but it is always good to have a backup just in case).
If your player isn't misbehaving one is left wondering why are you want to reformat it's Doing a "clean up" will often fix most issues of corrupted files and mangled metadata.

  • MS Word: This file is read-only. To save a copy, click OK, and give the document a new name in the save dialog box.

This is not a question. I believe I've found a new issue and the fix for it.
    The situation:
A brand new iMac 27" running Yosemite 10.10.1
    MacMini server running 10.8.5 server.
    The issue:
Client on iMac trying to work on MS Word documents stored on server was requiring him to save the documents to his desktop and then copy them back to the folder on the server. The exact error message was, "This file is read-only. To save a copy, click OK, and give the document a new name in the save dialog box."
The issue is unique to this computer in an office of 10 client computers and three servers.
    Attempted fixes:
Verified that the ".Temporaryitems" folder existed and the permissions were set properly.
Repaired permissions on the client and the network share.
    Definitive fix:
By default, Yosemite 10.10.1 uses SMB for connecting file shares. When I overrode the default and switched to AFP protocol, the issue went away.
I hope this helps someone else.

  • How do i save a copy of my emails on the server on a macook pro? I am having a problem when using hotmail on my new macbook, they say it is set pop3? i have not idea what this means!

I am not very good on computers and need help, I have lost past history emails when i have used hotmail on my new macbook, they say it is not set right but i do not understand! they say I need to ensure the box 'save a copy to the server' is ticked but they can not help me locate this and I have no idea what to do, can anyone talk me through this please?

Check your mail preferences. The example below is from the mail app that comes with mac. In my case I'm using yahoo mail which is a POP3 account. POP stands for post office protocol which is the set of rules used by a POP mail account to transfer mail. You can learn more about it here if interested. If the box below is checked, all the mail will be downloaded to your computer when you check your mail using the built in mail app and removed from the mail server. Here is another page to help you set up your hotmail account for use the the mac mail application. Hope this clears things up.

I would be glad for the opportunity to customize a Premiere Elements 12 answer to your Premiere Elements 12 issue.
But, I want to make sure that we are together on the details. This is my understanding of what you have written. Please review and let me
know if I am misinterpreting anything that you have written.
You have a video created in Windows Movie Maker.
How did you output the video from Windows Movie Maker...wmv or mp4, what was the frame size and frame rate of that export?
Next you import that video into Premiere Elements 12 (can we assume that this is on Windows 7, 8, or 8.1 64 bit?)
From what you wrote, you have applied a pan and zoom effect to your video in Premiere Elements.
Now you go to export the Premiere Elements 12 Timeline content with your video with the pan and zoom applied.
But, the pan and zoom effect is not seen in playback of the export.
Is all of the above correct so far?
If so....we are going to need some more details from you...
    a. What is the project preset that you or the project are setting to match the properties of the video coming from Movie maker? See Edit Menu/Project Settings/General and the readings for Editing Mode, Timebase, Frame Rate, and Pixel Aspect Ratio even if the fields look grayed out.
    b. Are you applying the pan and zoom effect with the Pan and Zoom Tool, fx Effects Presets, or keyframing the Scale (for Zoom) and
Position (for Pan) in the Motion Panel expanded?
    c. What are you selecting as your export in Publish+Share/. Please give details...are you using default settings or customizing the export
setting under the Advanced Button/Video Tab and Audio Tab of the preset selected?
I am suspecting some sort of mismatch of your project settings or some problems with working with the Pan and Zoom tool. I need
your answers to help me help you. If I have written anything that you do not understand, please let me know. I will re-write if necessary
so that we are in sync to resolve the issue.
    Thanks.

Sorry I thought  was just a one off, it would be no use for large volumes.
Do you not have this avaiable in the print menu in Preview with these documents?
I have also found a link on the Adobe web site that discusses that this facilty is enabled by the creater of the PDF.

  • How To Save Jpeg Copy As Action

Hi - how do I create an action that saves my open image as a jpeg copy in the same directory as the original? Rather than save as export I am doing a straight 'Save As...' and then selecting the jpeg option. When you do this the 'save as copy' is greyed out. If I 'Save As..' but before changing to jpeg, whilst it is a PSD file I can select 'save as copy', then select the jpeg option. Whilst the box is greyed out it is still ticked. However it still does not save as a copy, but overwrite the original.
    Any clues? Using CS5.

    Hi.
You can also use the keyboard shortcut Alt+Ctrl+S (save as copy) when recording the action to add copy to the name.
There's an obvious one I missed. This solves a problem lurking in the action. Duplicate preserves the original name (plus "copy").  But the Save dialog will open to the spot recorded in the action. Not the source document folder. You might have to navigate to the right folder. So in this statement,
The file should be saved to the same folder...
needs a small correction. Change "should" to "probably won't".
Using "Duplicate" severs the ties between the original document and the copy. Alt+Ctrl+S retains that link and the Save dialog opens the right folder.  If your Save step isn't conditional, the new file will be named Original Name plus "copy.jpg". So the action gets really simple.
    1. Ctrl+Alt+S. With Format set to Jpg.
    Thanks, MTSTUNER.
    Peace,

  • Why does PS CS5 (12.0.4) write to original file when I 'save as copy'?

Here's the scoop: I open a PS file. I chose 'Save As' but uncheck 'Show Layers' in the dialog box. So now it's essentially a 'Save A Copy'. When the new file is saved the original file is written to (although nothing changed) and now has the same modification date as the 'Save A Copy' file. Super strange and causing issues. Because if one flattens or does anything to the original file, those changes are baked into the original file!
    Any ideas? Thanks, in advance.
    Mac OS 10.7.3
    iMac i7 3.4GHz
    32 GB RAM
    256GB internal SSD (scratch disk)
1 TB internal SATA (system/data disk)
ColorEdge CG275W main monitor via Thunderbolt
    Photoshop 12.0.4
    Nik ColorEFX Pro 3.x
    Onone Perfect Resize Pro 7.x

I've checked with CS5.1 and the original file isn't being written to here on OS X 10.6.8 when a copy is written. The only file that's written to is the one named in the Save As dialogue. I don't know what to suggest, sorry.
Edit: I see you have 12.0.4 - CS5. You can probably ignore my post since a fix to your problem may have been made in CS5.1.

  • Save As Copy to WebDAV folder does not work

    Hi,
In Windows XP with latest reader (9.3.3), I cannot perform "Save As Copy" to a WebDAV folder. Contents of the folder is blank in the Save As dialog, and clicking the save button shows the following error:
"You Cannot Save in the Folder You Specified. Please Choose Another Location."
I was convinced that it was because Reader used the old dialog that doesn't support WebDAV as described here:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/265867/en-gb
However, I then discovered that when doing the same from Windows 7 and Windows Vista, I do not experience this problem. I have since made a clean install Windows XP to a virtual PC for testing, and I get the same problem.
I found from one source that the web server should have Reader installed to register the MIME type for IIS. I installed it but to no avail.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Regards.

NB: I am using the built-in WebDAV client in Windows XP (Add Network Place with WebClient service started).
Also have a thread open on the IIS site:

  • Is it possible to save a copy of a PDF form created in Livecycle Designer ES3?

    Hey,
I've created a form using the trial version of Livecycle ES3 however when I view the form I get this message:
"you cannot save data typed into this form. Please print your completed form if you would like to keep a copy for your records."
Is there a way around this/ is this just with the trial version? If I download the full version will the forms then be saveable?
I don't want to send out the form to people unless they are able to save a copy as I think that this could cause issues.
    Answers much appreciated!

If you use the File > Distribute Form this does allow recipients to save data entered into the form.  However, beware of the following points:
    1.  File > Distribute Form will take you through a process to gather information about your preferences for distribution including destination email addresses.  Once you have gone through this process, subsequently there is no option to change or reset any of the original inputs.  For example, if you wish to change the destination email address, you need to open the PDF in Acrobat Pro and go to Edit > Preferences and select the identity category.  The email address can be changed there.
2.The File > Distribute Form, seems to make other changes to the PDF too, because it uses the email address entered when Distribute Form is first used, to submit the PDF by email.  If you have an email submit button in your form, like I did, this does not work any longer in Adobe Reader.  Clicking it now simply prompts to save a local copy of the PDF. The submit does work in Acrobat Pro, but this is useless for a distributed form.
