Prevent screen capture, copy and paste

Hi guys,
Can Java programming prevent screen capture? Is there any example that I can refer to?
By the way, is there any example codes on how to disable the function copy and paste, as well as Ctrl + N to open a new browser with the same URL.
Thanks

Thanks for the speedy reply.
I don't think the problem is the number of characters that
can appear in the tooltip, as I'm having no problem with putting in
as long a reference as I need. My problem is the actual cutting
from the RH "document". If I try to cut a relatively short piece of
text from RH, <100 characters say, and then paste it into word
(which I did to check that there wasn't any weird formatting), I
get a line break at between 80-90 characters and always on a
complete word, i.e. it doesn't break in the middle of the word.
I was hoping for some solution that would allow me to copy a
reference from one part of my RH file and then paste the whole
thing in to my tooltip, but if this is not solveable then I'll just
have to build in some extra time to my project.
Thanks again.

• Firefox prevents me from copying and pasting content from websites. How do I fix this problem?

When I enter this website, there are certain areas that FIrefox will allow me to copy and paste. However, if the content is located within frames, I get a message that indicates that Copy/Cut/Paste options are unavailable in Mozilla and Firefox. Then, the information box asks me if I want more information or to cancel the request. When I ask for more information, the system offers information about altering the preferences; however, those steps don't appear to work for me. Please help.
Thanks.

Hi happykt, I loaded a story and found that the mouse doesn't select anything in the main story area, although I can select in the header area near the author picture and I can select the entire page using Ctrl+a.
Right-clicking the story area and using Firefox's Inspect Element feature, I discovered the problem: the site is adding a style rule to block Firefox from selecting text:
<div role="main" class="storytextp" id="storytextp" style="padding: 0px 0.5em; '''-moz-user-select: none;'''" align="center">
Some elements within the main story have a .nocopy class name assigned, which applies a similar rule indirectly. Clearly the site doesn't want you to copy anything! Not sure why they didn't just come out and tell you this. Hmmm...
If you want to work around this "feature", you have three options:
(1) Turn off styles for the page temporarily. You can do this from the View menu.
Tap the Alt key if needed to display the classic menu bar
View menu > Page Style > No Style
Scroll down past all the menus and headings and copy at will.
(2) Use custom style rules to alter the page on each visit. Someone would need to develop this for you, and then you could add them to a file named userContent.css or use the Stylish extension.
(3) Use a script or add-on to alter the page on demand or automatically on each visit. Again, someone would need to create this and then describe how to implement it.

• Selecting objects or ares of the screen, copy, and paste are missing

Hi,
Why such a standard and important functionality like selecting objects or areas of the screen, then copy and paste them are missing in the product?

Hi,
You can't select objects in Ideas, you can copy/paste the whole layer's contents by duplicating it, there is an icon in the layers panel, next to flip and merge down icons.

• Using grab or anything else to copy and paste screen shots into MAIL

Using Grab to copy a screen shot into Mail-
All i get is a smaller picture of the screen shot and it can not be read in mail as it looses all definition and is too small .
is there a way one can copy and paste into mail using grab or any other utility?

You can do this using the standard screen capture keyboard shortcuts. cmd-shift-4, for example, let's you select a region of the screen to capture. By default, the results will be saved to your desktop as a png image file.
However, if you also hold down the ctrl key (so, ctrl-cmd-shift-4), the resulting screen capture will be saved to your clipboard. Once in the clipboard, you can simply cmd-v paste it into your mail message...

• How do I copy and paste from one page or file to another page or file - on the same screen?

How do I copy and paste from one page or file to another - on the same screen?

Open both of your images in the Editor. Click on the image you want to copy and press Ctrtl+A (select all) followed by Ctrl+C (copy) then click the tab for your other image and press Ctrl+V (paste)
Alternatively click on your background image then simply drag the second image from the photo/project bin and drop it into the main editor workspace on top of the background image. Use the move tool to position and the corner handles of the bounding box to scale.

• How to stop an embedded PDF online from being copied and pasted?

I have an issue which I need assistance with please.
I can secure a PDF file using Adobe Acrobat XI and it disables it from being copied and pasted (right-click brings no such options) but, when I upload it online (to Wordpress) and link to it then it opens in Adobe Reader (or whatever PDF viewer the user has installed on their computer) and because of this they can highlight the text and right-click and then copy and paste it to a Word document and such, even though this was not possible in Adobe Acrobat XI but as soon as it goes online it is possible. How can this be prevented?
Basically I want to embed PDF's online for others to read and view directly online but I want to disable them from copying and pasting text - can this be done?
Many thanks.
Ian

If I allowed the secured PDF as a download instead (because it could not be embedded) and they tried to edit it with their PDF software I assume the encryption on it and restrictions (e.g. no copy and paste) would still be enforced?
Not a correct assumption. Some PDF software respects security and some doesn't. This has nothing to do with whether it is embedded or downloaded.
Many people face this issue, but it is best to just get used to the idea that what you put on the web can be saved, shared, emailed, copied and recirculated. That's how the web is. Even if copy/paste wasn't allowed, the user could just do a screen capture and paste that. If that weren't allowed they could photograph the screen. And for some of the older generation, it even occurs to them to retype what they want...!

I need your help on the below scenario.
I have to stop user to copy and paste the data into the field. But allowing user to enter the data in that field.
Please suggest.

Hi thiru
It sounds like you want a to write a PJC component to extend a forms text item that will capture and eliminate the key strokes and mouse actions used to copy and past thus preventing a user from performing this action. There are many examples on the interent of how this can be written e.g. the Oracle Forms PJCs/Java Beans web site. You will need to have jdeveloper to write thise bit of code. Oracle forms also has a tutorial on how to plug the JAR file you generate into your for sessions.

• How do I disable the paste function on a PDF so that the reader can write text on it but not copy and paste text onto it?

I'm trying to create a PDF for my students to take notes on during class but I don't want them to be able to copy and paste the notes. I'm using adobe professional to create the PDF.

Why do you want to prevent copy and paste? They can take screen shots of the pdf if they are real insistent? If you password protect your file, to prevent copy and paste, but that is trivial to circumvent. You can convert your pdf to tiff and then re-import, the resulting file will be an image pdf file. The contents will be an image which doesn’t prevent copy and paste, will prevent it being done as text.

• Copy and paste image from PDF to another application

how do you copy and paste an image from PDF into another application such as Word or Excel? I know how to copy>> hover cursor over picture until it turns into a select "+" tool, select and right click to copy but when I try to paste it into another application, its loses all of its formatting. Thanks

Not sure what you mean by formatting of a picture. You can export all images and get a files to import to word. You can also use the snapshot tool, though it captures a screen copy. If you select an image and copy, my experience has been that it will only copy to PhotoShop, but it is not something I do very much. If the image is part of the document (not markup like a stamp or such), you can use the select tool to select the image and copy it to the clipboard. Just tried it and it worked fine. If it is a stamp (like pasted in), then you can not copy it in this way, if at all.

• Copy and paste web page

Hi,this is my first post. When using Internet Explorer on the PC I can copy and paste anything I highlight but in Safari on my Mac it only copies the text so when i paste into Word I only get the text. Is there a way of setting Safari up so that it copies the images as well.
Thanks David

You cannot make any changes to how Safari handles copy/paste behavior. But perhaps you can make use of screenshots or printing an entire web page to PDF.
If you wanted to send somebody a small portion of a screen with images, text, etc., you could hit Command-Shift-4 then use the mouse to select an area of the screen that you want to capture. After you've done this, you'll see "Picture 1" on your Desktop which you can easily email to somebody else (just drag "Picture 1" from the Desktop onto the Mail icon in your Dock).
If you want to capture the entire web page to send to somebody, try Command-P to bring up the print dialog, then in the lower-left you'll see options for PDF - choose "Save as PDF". Once again, you'll be able to send the result file by email.
I use both of these techniques on a regular basis. One of the things that's especially nice about them is their ability to capture what you see exactly. Unlike Internet Explorer copy/paste, which might not look the same once you put it into an email, or the receiver's email client might not display the message as you saw it. None of this happens when you send a fixed image - what you see is what the receiver will see.

• Copy and paste does not work

Hi All,
I have windows vista, adobe master suite collection cS3. I am having trouble using copy and paste and screen grabs in Adobe Photoshop.
Does anyone know what may be cauing this?
Thanks,
Helen

I copied website captures fine onto Paint and copied text and screen captures on Microsoft word fine. I am mainly trying to copy and paste website screen grabs. For example I tried copying a website screen grab straight onto Photoshop.
I am using the manual form of copy and pasting through the mouse right click. Strangely when closing and reopening Photoshop the copy and paste tool works temporarily however after a couple of copy and pasting’s the copy and paste function doesn’t work again!
Thanks John, do you know of any screen capture programs that work on windows vista home and adobe cs3.
Thanks,
Helen

• How to copy and paste the same answer choices multiple times

I am making testing forms and each question has the same multiple choice answer selection. I have been having to type each one of them individually instead of being able to duplicate it for each question. How can I do what in Word would just be a "copy and paste" function?

So you want the user/person to do the "cut&paste" action (ie. ctrlc ctrlv) and have the data paste itself across rows correctly much like Excel does. I don't think this "intelligence" is built into Adobe table controls as it is in Excel (and Excel is smart enough to even handle it different ways depending on how the user selects cells).
The only thing I can think of is that you could "capture" the user trying to paste into a cell/row in your table (maybe in the onFocus or onClick events), then grab the data, parse it out (but looking for some character) and then have your code distribute the data across the rows. However, I personally think that would be a lot of overkill and prone to other issues and errors.
