Prevent Server From Timing Out

I am having trouble with my wireless network and I am not sure the cause. I constantly (1 a day at least) have to power cycle my modem and wireless router. Why does this happen and what can I do to prevent it?
Thanks
Scott

If you have to power cycle your router and/or modem, it's almost certainly due to a firmware bug in your router and/or modem.
The first thing to do is check whether there are user-installable firmware upgrades available for either/both.
For routers the best bet is to check the router manufacturer's web site; for modems it's either the manufacturer's web site or that of your ISP. (Note that there are no user-installable updates for most cable modems.)

  • Stop Photo Booth from 'timing out' and freezing

    Hi,
    Is there a way one can prevent Photo Booth from 'timing out'?
    When one launches Photo Booth, one sees a preview of what the camera can see. If one switches to another window, then after around 30 seconds this preview 'stops'. To resume the preview, one must click on the application again to make it the active window.
    Is there a workaround to prevent this from happening?
    Alternatively, are there any pieces of software which show me what my camera can see which do not 'stop' after a small amount of time? I realise that Photo Booth was not written with this use in mind, so I can understand the limitation.
    With Windows, there was a plethora of applications which served this purpose, but I'm not familiar with the Mac alternatives. I used a piece of software called 'CamViewer' on Windows, however running the camera in a virtual machine just to get this functionality would be an inconvenience to me.
    Thank you for your help with this,
    Joseph.

    Just a follow up, DO NOT use HeadsUp. At least, not until the developer has fixed some problems with it. Just having the app open makes my rMBP's temperatures soar to over 100 degrees with some serious fan noise.

  • Application Server Session timed out (-11) (lack of debug in internal ITS)

    Dear Sirs,
    I get the error message below, when I try to run a IAC through internal ITS. The IAC worked for a while (<30 minutes), and then suddenly this error appeared.
    I can see that this error message has been asked about previously, but then in connection with statefull/stateless BSP applications (e.g "Session timed out thread", on this forum May 31 2005).
    In this thread the solution is apparently to alter the 'rdisp/plugin_auto_logout', is this the case for us as well?
    I have read Error handling using the ICM , but not able to actually beeing able to pinpoint the problme.
    All our other IAC are working it is only a problem with one of them. The problem is still valid even if I log on with different user, and the error is still there now even after two hours. The problem transaction is a altered version of the WSTA, and I am able to get the first screen where I enter the store number.
    Any tips or suggestions to pinpoint the error?

    Dear Sirs,
    The error has been solved. It was a matter of an illegal input sendt to the RetailHeaderFunction.
    However, this makes way for another question.
    On the standalone ITS, it was possible to get error messages which indicated where the code contained errors, when it was runned.
    How is it possible to make the internal ITS gives better feedback (errors?), and show where the error is?

  • I keep getting a message that I have logged into the server maximum times or server has timed out

    I had an upgrade to my system and it changed my logging into the server to every 10 minutes. Can you reset it on your end so I can use my email again. We fixed the logging into the server so that will not happen again. I cannot send or receive emails on Thunderbird and I also get a connection to server has timed out when I try to send an email. Thanks

  • Mail is preventing me from logging out - Help!

    Hello,
    Mail is preventing me from logging out.  I freqently have to force quit, any ideas on what is wrong and how to fix?

    If you're sharing the computer with your husband and you have separate accounts, you should open the Users & Groups preference pane, click the lock icon to unlock the settings, then click Login Options and check the box marked Show fast user switching menu... That will relieve the need for either of you to log out whenever the other wants to use the computer. Just select your user name from the menu next to the Spotlight (magnifying glass) icon on the right side of the menu bar.
    As for the Mail problem, try the procedure below first.
    Back up all data.
    1. Triple-click the line below to select it:
    ~/Library/Mail/Bundles
    Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
    Services ▹ Open
    from the contextual menu. A folder may open, or you may get an error message that the item can't be found. Either result is normal. If the folder does open and has contents, move the contents to the Desktop. Relaunch Mail and test. If there's no change, put the contents of the folder back and quit Mail again.
    2. Repeat with this line:
    /Library/Mail/Bundles
    This time you may be prompted for your login password when you remove the items. Make sure they're removed from the folder and not just copied to the Desktop. If necessary, copy them first and then move the originals to the Trash.

    Hello.
    Today I got the opportunity to work with a Muse user with the same issue after performing the troubleshooting steps in the post above we decided to contact the host.
    Later i came to know that host took Muse user's IP and they were able to unblock it and muse started connecting to FTP host.
    I another scenario Host suggested Muse user to add :21 to the FTP address and then Muse was able to connect.
    Eg    ftp.domain.com:21
    Please try the 2 suggestion above and let me know if it works.

    Hello darkhawk,
    Thank you for the recommendation.  I somewhat understand what a MS DOS disk is, but I'm not sure how to go about creating one. I've seen where you can use a program, like Rufus, to create a usb one  - but I'm leery about using 3rd-party programs (especially ones I'm not familiar with). I've come across a couple of 'how-to' tuts, but they didn't clarify what files (if any) I would need to include on the disk (for my particular situation). Right now I don't have any blank cds, nor any extra flash/thumb drives - wish I did, but hadn't needed these for years. There has only been one other time where I needed to re-install Windows, but that was over 15 years ago - I did it through BIOS, reformatting my drives, and then reinstalled via the Windows XP disk. Windows 8 is an entirely different breed, which has left me feeling a bit stumped, at times. If there was a way I could perform it (successfully), similar to the first time I did it years ago, I'd give it a try - but at the same time, I'm a bit reluctant, because if it doesn't work, then I'm stuck without any internet access to get further help.
    Ask and ye shall receive. This should be doable in Windows 7 and Windows 8 on another PC. I recommend using a USB Flash drive like in this tutorial, but I'm sure you could use something else.
    If you want, you could also use Hiren's BootCD to make a bootable CD with many options and programs on it (I keep one, just for certain situations) that will allow you to do the same things.
    http://www.hiren.info/pages/bootcd
    Also very useful for sorting out virus's as long as it's downloaded and made on another PC that is virus free......

  • How do I prevent downloading messages from timing out when a large file is attached to an incoming mail?

    When an incoming message has a sizable attachment (say ~1 MB or more), I have to click manually on Get Messages many times before it finally downloads. Until I get lucky, the software seems to allow a period of about 30 seconds (I haven't clocked it) until it quits trying to download new messages. And until the message with the large attachment finally downloads, all other incoming messages are clogged behind it and can't get through. How do I adjust settings to prevent timing out or increase the time-out limit substantially to work around this difficulty? If there's no fix, I'll have to give up on Thunderbird and go directly to the provider website to get e-mail.

    Is there any way you could get such attachments sent to you otherwise, such as file sharing? Thunderbird has a feature to address this, [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/filelink-large-attachments Filelink], in case the sending party is using Thunderbird it may be useful to let them know about.
    Are you using POP or IMAP? Either way many settings can fine tune this, in different ways, please add this information so we can provide a more detailed answer.

    It's a quirk of BorderPane, see the JavaDoc =>
    http://docs.oracle.com/javafx/2/api/javafx/scene/layout/BorderPane.html
    "BorderPane does not clip its content by default, so it is possible that childrens' bounds may extend outside its own bounds if a child's min size prevents it from being fit within it space."
    I'm not such a big fan of JavaFX 2's BorderPane due to it's strange sizing behaviour for it's children.
    A quick work around this quirk is to add the center content first so that it will be layered underneath the other panes in the BorderPane and have the root of the other child panes of your border pane be unbounded resizable Panes which fill their available area with an opaque color which will paint over the overflowing center pane.
    import javafx.application.Application;
    import javafx.scene.*;
    import javafx.scene.control.Button;
    import javafx.scene.layout.*;
    import javafx.scene.paint.Color;

    import javafx.scene.shape.CircleBuilder;
    import javafx.stage.Stage;

        BorderPane root = new BorderPane();
        Group group = new Group();
        root.setCenter(group);

        btn.setText("Why??");
        root.setLeft(btn);
        VBox leftPane = new VBox();
        leftPane.setStyle("-fx-background-color: white;");
        leftPane.getChildren().add(btn);
        root.setLeft(leftPane);
        Circle circle = CircleBuilder.create()

  • When using citrix through safari on my iPad , how do I keep it from timing out and having to keep logging back in when I don't use it for awhile?

    When using citrix thru safari on my iPad , how do I keep from getting timed out and having to log in again after not using it for awhile ?

    I know nothing about this app but I just did a very quick search on the app support forum for Citrix and saw something about enabling a setting called Caffiene. Have you tried that? It overrides the auto lock from what I saw in the discussion.
    I'm just not sure why the iPad would sleep at all if it the Auto Lock is set to never. The only other things that I could think to try is to restart the iPad and then see if the Auto Lock setting works properly or maybe quit all apps and then try again. That really shouldn't matter but there might be an app that is overriding the auto lock for some reason. Or even reset the device - hold down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10 seconds until the Apple logo appears. The iPad system might just need a kick in the butt.
    Edit - after rereading your post I see that you are going through Safari. The suggestion that I found was for the Citrix app. I assume the Caffiene setting is not available through Safari.
