Prevent slide show image resizing

Is there any way to prevent iweb from resizing images for the slideshow? My images are already resized to the exact size that I want them to be displayed. I don't want the software to mess with them!!!

We DO know what's wrong. I provided the cure for that

  • Why are slide show images less sharp than preview images?

    Dear Aperture users,
as documented in the manual and on Apple's support pages, Aperture 3 uses the preview images for its slide show. However, when I compare the quality of my preview images in full-screen mode with the quality of the slide show images, the preview images clearly look sharper.
Apparently, Aperture's slide show does not simply use the preview images as documented, but applies some sort of "adjustment", resulting in less crisp looking images. Since I haven't found any satisfying answer yet, my questions are:
1). What exactly is the adjustment that slide show applies to the preview images?
2). Can I somehow tweak this adjustment, say, with a terminal command?
    Best regards,
    Dirk61.

iPhoto can make two different types of slide show movies. It would help to know which you're making.
One is made via the File/Export to QuickTime movie and makes a 4 track file with a simple fade effect. These use the Photo-JPEG codec.
The other is a 30 fps "video" using H.264 video codec via the "Share" menu.
A third method (rarely used) is to Export to iDVD. This makes an absurdly high data rate MPEG-4 video. This is also found under the Share menu.
The MPEG-4 video codec also includes an "automatic" gamma correction feature which compensates for the gammas difference between Mac's and PC's.
Try one export to iDVD. Include your audio track prior but use a high quality (.aiff) sound file. No need to actually "burn" the DVD. You can even close iDVD after it opens. You'll find the new movie in your Users Movie folder.
Open it with QT Pro and export to a new .mov file. Adjust the data rate to something more reasonable and add some audio compression.
If the colors still look too dark you can use the built in Filters in the Export dialog. You can adjust B&C or HSL or even use ColorSync Profiles that can help correct the image quality (if needed).

  • Dynamic slide show window resize ?

I am looking for a way to have a slide show window in Muse, resize according to landscape og portrait images.
There are slide show viewers out there that can do this, but within Muse, I have not been able to find a way to do so.
Can anybody help, or is this just a feature that is not supported in Muse ?

I have the same question. Why can't images in the Muse slide show widget be made larger than the default setting? For many of my images, the default dimensions are either too small to properly display the image or they don't accommodate very well the fact that some photos were taken as verticals and others horizontal (portrait and landscape dimensions). Please Adobe, give us more flexibility and professionalism with the slide show widget.

  • What is the best import size for slide show images?

I have imported images sized 720 pix on the long end, and I'm not happy with the iDVD 08 quality - the images are soft. It's only a 50 image slide show. Can I use full resolution images and if so does iDVD size them down ? I am exporting Jpegs out of LightRoom so I can make any size/quality required.
Or, is there another app I should try that would give more professional results. I do like the themes in iDVD and the general interface. Is there an app that would perhaps take slide show produced elsewhere (like ProShowGold, SWF n Slide) and produce a theme/menu list/background etc., Soundslides Plus)
I am burning at 1X speed, and Pro encoding.
    Thanks

I'm not sure if you are in NTSC land or PAL land and the recommended sizes are slightly different. See Preparing images for iDVD slideshows at http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=iDVD/7.0/en/6675.html

My experience has been the trying to use large, hi-res images actually produces slightly lower image quality than images I have resized and sharpened in Photoshop to the recommended sizes.

I just did some recent test and iDVD '08 gave as high a quality images as any of the others (and was better than iPhoto or iMovie created slideshow movies). It's important to remember that the images on the DVDs we create are low res (640x480 square pixels for NTSC) which is only about 0.3 megapixels. They were designed to be viewed on 'old-fashioned' CRT TV sets which have that same resolution. Viewing such a slideshow full screen on a computer monitor with 4 to 8 times more pixels is less than optimum.
I am burning at 1X speed, and Pro encoding.
Under 4 x is good. Pro encoding is a waste of time for such slideshows- you would get the best quality using 'Best Performance'.
If you ONLY want to view your slideshow on your computer - and NOT on a TV set - there are better, more high-resolution approaches you can take than using iDVD.

  • Slide shows images too big. How to scale??

OK, I've been pulling my hair out over this.
I create a slide show but the images crop off the tops and bottoms, as they drift along. I've played with the settings (fill screen/ 4:3/16:9) but no luck. Also, vertical images are a joke in slide show.
Q: How can I make the iPhoto slide show truly fit images to screen? Thanks.
    -Dooki

Thanks Larry. By default it's turned off, though I've tried on as well.
I played more by adjusting the size of the images in photoshop. The default was something like 32"x 27"(thereabouts) @ 72dpi. I reduced it to 11 x 8.5 @100dpi. This reduction did not work either. It still cropped off the top and bottom.

  • Photos Blurry In Slide Show After Resizing

Hi - I'm trying to create a slide show with photos in Premiere Element 4. However, the photos are blurry. I resized the photos to 1000x750 using the batch resize but they are still just as blurry as before the resize. Any ideas? Thanks.

No, video for viewing on TV is interlaced... it is shot with two fields, each shot at slightly different times, the two interlaced fields make up a frame. It is the time difference between when each frame was shot that gives the "jaggy" lines. A TV knows how to handle these fields whereas a computer monitor does not.

  • Image number attached to slide show images

I am a photographer and would like to offer dvd proofs. is there a way to have the existing image number show up in the slide show presentation, either on the photo as some sort of watermark or as the file number displayed when they fast forward or rewind through the images?

    Julie:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. I've not found any way to automatically add the file name to the images. To do that you'll need to use a 3rd party editor like Photoshop or Photoshop Elements to add the file name to each photo. Then use that photo in the iDVD. If you're using iPhoto you can then do a Revert to Original to get back the untitled image. If you're using some other image management application then you'll need to create duplicates of those files to add the file names to.
You could create the slideshow in iMovie and add the file name as a sub-title and then add the movie to iDVD.
Hope this has been of some help. Good luck.

  • Slide Show Editor resizes text when outputing video

    Hello,
I've created a slide show with captions.  When I preview on-screen, or save output in .PDF format, captions appear as expected.
When I output to video, the text is shrunk, and causes the captions to flow onto multiple lines and off the screen.
I've tried setting the text size to px instead of pt, but can't do that in this tool.
    Any help appreciated.
    Thanks!

  • Losing connection to Time Capsule share of slide show images

My 10.6.latest iMac screen saver references a folder on my Time Capsule external drive over a WiFi network.
Lately (10.6.5?), instead of seeing the screen saver images, I see a "unable to find" sort of message. I can still connect to the Time Machine through the FInder.
My hunch is that the Time Capsule drive has gone to sleep and the OS X screen saver is timing out before it comes online.
    Anyone see anything like this?
I'm thinking of running a script or utility that would simply access the Time Capsule NAS frequently.

Unfortunately, this doesn't seem to solve the problem.  ITunes still periodically complains that it can't find the library - this happens both when the Mac has been on for awhile and I first start up iTunes, or if iTunes has been running for awhile as well.  In either case, I have to click through to the Time Capsule share with the iTunes library on it.  I can tell the Mac has lost the connection because it takes some time for the share and its folders to show up as I click through the path.
    Anyone else run into this???

  • How do I open a previously created slide show in PSE7?

I created and edited a slide show in PSE7 and closed the slide show editor. I now have an image in the organizer which has a slide show icon in the upper right hand corner. When I click or double click on it, nothing happens and PSE7 stops operating. I must use windows task manager to close PSE7. If I try the create tab with the slide show icon highlighted and then click on slide show editor, PSE7 locks up. How do I open the slide show I created?

Thanks. Actually, I tried rebooting and it worked. Now I just double click the slide show image or right click and click Edit and the slide show editor opens.

  • Slow exporting slide show as video.  4 days less than 10%

I am exporting a timelapse of 1900 Small Raw slide show images as video.  It can run for 4 days and not much seems to happen. I had done 1500 images in less than an hour before and they were larger files.  What can I do?

  • Slide show headaches:(

    Hi Folks,
We are having trouble with the cronological order in slide shows. More specifically we wanted to make a ibook from the images in a slide show, in the same order that we arranged them for the slideshow. When pulled into the book folder, or even i-movie, they revert to the numerical file number order.
We then painstakenly, re-numbered our entire slide shows images (in CS2) from 001-180 in the order we wanted them in the slide show and resulting i-movie. When imported back into i-photo, all the images in that album and slideshow made from that album are still in the same order as they were with the old file names(numbers).
What is i-photo looking at to determine the order in which is displays the images in a album and slideshow? I know we can re-arrange them for the slideshows, but we want them in an album or folder in cronological order for easy exporting into other apps like i-movie, i-dvd, i-book etc. I'm sure I'm missing something!
    Thank you, Barry

I'm not sure this is what you are wanting, but if you have the photos in the iPhoto album in the order you want, then with the album open, in EDIT select all. Then in PHOTOS, open BATCH CHANGE and click box APPEND A NUMBER TO EACH PHOTO, and then click OK. I believe your file can then be exported to iMOVIE, etc. in that order. Give it a try with a small file to see if it works for you.
