Preventing an Email from Being Accidentally Erased

Besides saving a copy on a hard drive, is there a way that I can "lock" and email so that it cannot be erased without unlocking it? Like on most phones, a text message can be locked so that it is not accidentally erased.
Thanks!!

Firefox doesn't do email, it's a web browser.
If you are using Firefox to access your mail, you are using "web-mail". You need to seek support from your service provider or a forum for that service.
If your problem is with Mozilla Thunderbird, see this forum for support.

  • Suddenly I am unable to send emails, which are being blocked due to "suspicious activity." Yahoo help notes it is probably my ISP that is preventing my emails from being sent. How can I unblock this?

On Friday afternoon, I attempted to reply to emails in my Yahoo Inbox, but I received a pop-up message preventing me from sending the emails. It said that my emails cannot be sent due to suspected "suspicious activity" on my email account and cannot send it in order to protect me and those I am attempting to send the messages to. I looked up Yahoo Help and the online suggestion was that my ISP might be blocking the email and I might have to change my ISP address. My antivirus software carrier's server went down briefly a couple of weeks ago and I could not upload the updates until they were up and running again. I had some suspicious emails generated from my account during that time, without my knowledge. I changed my password immediately and updated my Email Protection through my antivirus software program. But now I can't send emails. Any suggestions? Thank you!

From the Mail menu bar, select
    Window ▹ Connection Doctor
Click the Show Detail button. A drawer opens. Click Check Again and post the text that appears. Anonymize any personal information before posting.

  • Can I prevent my email from being viewed while allowing kids to use iPad?

I like to let my kids use the iPad but I don't want them to have access to my email. Is there any way to prevent that?

Not directly, no. But there is a little bit of a hack that works.

  • Prevent OST file from being excluded from workstation backups

Is there a way to prevent OST files from being excluded from client/workstation backups in WS2012E?
    Thanks,
    Reg
This is especially a problem for clients that have migrated to Office 365 exchange service as they have no local backup of emails that were deleted and think synced with Office 365.
    Reginald Hook

OST files are not a local backup, they are a cache of what is in the mailbox.

  • Can I stop email from being sent?

I have a number of email accounts configured in outlook 2010.
I want to prevent email from being sent via one of the accounts.
    CAN I do this?
    If so How?
I have tried to change the SMTP address to be invalid.
It does not send, and does not give me an error.
When I close outlook it tells me emails have not been sent. I have no idea where these emails r.
When I restart it, it resets the smtp address and sends the email.

    thx for the reply
The problem I am trying to work around is ppl using outlook try to send/reply/fwd emails using those old addresses. Outlook must be configured to rcv mail from clients using those addresses. So if the old email address is set as FROM I want to stop it from
    being sent.
if i set the smtp address to an invalid the test never completes and I can never get to the end of that wizard.
If I go back and look at it it is still the invalid address after I cancel the wizard.
If i try to send mail it appears to do it after a long pause and i can't find the email anyplace -but it is not sent.
If i shut down and restart outlook it is back to the valid address and the mail gets sent.
I have it set only rcv, not send, that address in the group but that doesn't work.

You are welcome. I'm glad you got it back up.
    (1) You say you did the symbolic link. I will assume this is set correctly; it's very important that it is.
    (2) I don't know what you mean by "Been feeding the [email protected] for several weeks now, 700 emails each day at least." After the initial training period, SpamAssassin doesn't learn from mail it has already processed correctly. At this point, you only need to teach SpamAssassin when it is wrong. [email protected] should only be getting spam that is being passed as clean. Likewise, [email protected] should only be getting legitimate mail that is being flagged as junk. You are redirecting mail to both [email protected] and [email protected] ... right? SpamAssassin needs both.
    (3) Next, as I said before, you need to implement those "Frontline spam defense for Mac OS X Server." Once you have that done and issue "postfix reload" you can look at your SMTP log in Server Admin and watch as Postfix blocks one piece of junk mail after another. It's kind of cool.
    (4) Add some SARE rules:
Visit http://www.rulesemporium.com/rules.htm and download the following rules:
    70sareadult.cf
    70saregenlsubj0.cf
    70sareheader0.cf
    70sarehtml0.cf
    70sareobfu0.cf
    70sareoem.cf
    70sarespoof.cf
    70sarestocks.cf
    70sareunsub.cf
    72sare_redirectpost
Visit http://www.rulesemporium.com/other-rules.htm and download the following rules:
    backhair.cf
    bogus-virus-warnings.cf
    chickenpox.cf
    weeds.cf
    Copy these rules to /etc/mail/spamassassin/
Then stop and restart mail services.
There are other things you can do, and you'll find differing opinions about such things. In general, I think implementing the "Frontline spam defense for Mac OS X Server" and adding the SARE rules will help a lot. Good luck!

How do I keep emails from being deleted on my iPhone 6? Emails get deleted from phone when I startup desktop computer and they are downloaded from sever. Is POP3 no longer supported on IOS 8.1?

    Have you seen this?
Using a POP account with more than one device - Apple Support
A better solution is if your email provider uses IMAP. IMAP sync email folders between multiple devices. Meaning any device will receive the email, all sent email can be seen on the devices. If you delete email from one device the email is deleted from all the other devices. Check with your email provider to see if they offer IMAP services.
If they do not your choices are to 1) configure email on the PC to keep Mail on the mail server or 2) change email providers to something like Gmail or Outlook.com (as examples). FWIW I use Cox IMAP email and fully sync email between a Win 8.1 Update 1 laptop, a Win 7 desktop, an iPad 4, an iPhone 4 and an iPhone 5S.

  • How to lockdown and prevent add-ons from being installed?

Hi. I'd like to lockdown an installation of Firefox on a Win XP computer, to prevent add-ons from being installed by limited account users. How do I accomplish this please?

Use a mozilla.cfg file in the Firefox program folder to lock prefs or specify default values.
Place a file local-settings.js in the defaults\pref folder where you also find the file channel-prefs.js to specify using mozilla.cfg.
    pref("general.config.filename", "mozilla.cfg");
    pref("general.config.obscure_value", 0); // use this to disable the byte-shift
    See:
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/Locking_preferences
You can use these functions in mozilla.cfg:
defaultPref(); // set new default value
pref(); // set pref, but allow changes in current session
lockPref(); // lock pref, disallow changes
    lockPref("xpinstall.enabled", false);

  • Preventing expired batch from being sold

Currently in one of our client's setup, I can select expired batch from the list of items. Is there a way to prevent expired items from being selected when creating sales order (VA01) or, if the user can select the expired item, at least display an error or warning message?

    Hi,
Do try making the batch in resticted use in change batch basic data1 tab, activate radio button of batch status for Batch restr.
    It makes
    Batch in Restricted-Use Stock
Specifies that the batch is included in restricted-use stock.
    Use
If, though a batch has the status "restricted", you want to use a goods movement to post a quantity to unrestricted-use stock, the quantity is posted to restricted-use stock and not to unrestricted-use stock.
If the status of a batch is set to restricted, the total unrestricted-use stock is transferred to restricted-use stock by means of a transfer posting. A material document is created.
You cannot change the status of a batch (unrestricted/restricted) in a goods movement, only with the following functions:
by maintaining the batch master record manually
using the control function provided in the QM system
    Configurations for Restricted-Use Stock
For planning purposes, restricted-use stock is treated like blocked stock, that is, it is either available or not available, depending on your system configuration.
Withdrawals from restricted-use stock are either possible or not possible, depending on your system configuration.
The status of a batch can be considered in batch determination, that is, you can search for unrestricted or for restricted batches.
_(This has been adopted from SAP documentation.)
    Change batch T.code-*MSC2n*Regards,

  • How to stop an email from being sent after I hit send?

How can I immediately stop an email from being sent after clicking "send"?
I can't seem to find any info on this. I am assuming that it is impossible. Correct?

When sending the emails with larger attachments that take a little time to actually upload and get out, you can open the activity viewer by pressing command-0 (or is it command-o?--)--it may also be under the window menu at the top--I'm not at my Mac right now to check. The activity viewer has a stop button on it. After you stop it, you should be able to either delete the email from the outgoing mail folder or drag that email to another folder, such as the drafts folder. I've done this a few times without a problem.

  • Protecting your email from being copied

Does anyone know if there is a function for mac that can protect your emails frome being copied by another person.

+Outlook does not include these capabilities which is impossible.+
Don't be silly. Information rights management has been an integral part of MS' Office suite since the 2003 version. I might add that there are other programs that do the same thing, for other kinds of documents, for example Adobe Acrobat for pdf files. Unbelievably enough, even various well-known pieces of Apple software do the same thing for certain kinds of media files. You simply do not know what you are talking about.
This is straight from Outlook's Help:
"By using Permission on the toolbar, you can restrict permission on an e-mail message for specific recipients you want to read the message. As the message sender, you can remove restricted permission from a saved draft of a message by clicking Permission on the toolbar again. Recipients can open and read an e-mail message with restricted permission just as they would a message that doesn't have restricted permission. If recipients don't have Outlook 2003 or later installed on their computers, they can download the Rights Management Add-on for Internet Explorer or another program that supports content with restricted permission.
E-mail administrators can create permission policies to include on the Outlook Permission submenu (or Permission on the File menu). These permission policies define who can read messages and what actions recipients can take with those messages. For example, an e-mail administrator might define a policy called "Company Confidential" that specifies that a message using that policy can be opened only by people inside the company domain. When you compose a message, you can choose from up to 20 customized policies on the Permission submenu (depending on how many policies the e-mail administrator provides)."
+Regarding security, there is a night and day difference between Windows and OS X.+
More nonsense. See my above remark.

  • Is there anyway to set a passcode for my iPhone/iPad, but prevent the device from being disabled?

My wife and I have iPhones, and also have an iPad. We also have three children, and recently they have been trying to guess our passcodes so that they can watch videos and play games. Trouble is, after 10 attempts, the device will disable for 60 seconds, and then if the 11th attempt is wrong, the device will disable for 5 minutes, etc. My iPad is currently disabled for 60-minutes. Grrr.
Is there anyway to set a passcode to keep the children out, and yet prevent the device from being disabled on successive attempts? I realise that this feature is there to protect our devices from brute-force attacks, but we are being penalised, in that our devices become disabled for a period of time.

Well, so you have to ask: Is the problem your iPad or your children? Another question: If they're not to watch videos or play games, then why are they on the iPad in the first place?
Obviously you already know the answer to your question; there is no way to set it up the way that you want to. If you nonetheless feel that you should be able to do that, then put together your best case for it and make your wishes known directly to apple via their established Feedback links:
    http://www.apple.com/feedback/ipad.html
Posting here is no substitute for doing that
