Preventing app updates beyond iOS 3.1.3?

I have a 1st Generation iPod Touch, is there a way to prevent iTunes from recommending I upgrade my apps when the new upgraded app would require iOS 4? I've already lost 2 apps to this problem.

Had my first update this morning. I guess there just wasn't any updates for my Apps prior to today.

    Hello
I think i have a similar problem to this. When i updated my iPod 2nd generation last week because i required it I found after it was all installed correctly that my apps did not work properly. For example, when i want to play a game it loads up for the first 5 seconds and then goes black and then goes back to my homescreen - AND this happens to every single app i have. It even happens when im on safari after a while. I honestly have no idea what has happened to it but before this occured it was working perfectly fine. I just know that this has something to do with the update because during the update the software was not downloaded properly and so i had to repair iTunes and re-install it.
Please HELP, i dont want my beloved iPod to break

  • Automatic app updates in ios 8

Just updated to iOS 8, and discovered an odd issue, as follows:
One of my favorite additions of iOS 7 was the automatic app updates, because I do not have access to the app store. My app store is locked under restrictions, but with automatic updates I had no need for the app store in order to update my existing apps.
Well, I just updated to iOS 8, and I find that there is only an option for automatic app updates when the app store is open, but as soon as the app store is locked through restrictions, the automatic updates option disappears. And to add to the mystery, the only way to get it back is by SIGNING OUT of my Apple ID. When I do that, the automatic music downloads option disappears, and it is replaced by an option for automatic app updates.
Is this intentional? Why on Earth is there no option for auto updates when signed in, only when signed out? I can't make any sense of it. Any help would be appreciated.
Other than that, iOS 8 is awesome so far.
iPad mini (Retina) Wi-Fi, iOS 7.1

I'm pretty sure they are working out some kinks still...   Mine is working, but intermittantly.
It's probably safe to assume that all of the devices in the world won't update at the same moment to preserve server overload, so we'll need to be patient.

  • Ipad mini with retina-- apps crashing on ios 8. Even apps updated for ios 8 are also crashing

AFter updating my ipad mini retina to ios 8, apps already updated for ios 8 are crashing like...scanner pro by readdle,
safari not working as well as on ios7.1.2.

Me too. I've been an Apple fan for a long time but things are starting to get painful. I hate telling people not to upgrade but I can't honestly recommend otherwise.
A bad thing is that these problems are not predictable. I have an iPad Mini - no retina that I got for free for opening a new bank account. I am a developer so I have run it on iOS 8 for some time. Even the released version has annoying bugs that weren't there on iOS 7. While the performance isn't great, it is useable. But a retina would have higher requirements and perhaps iOS 8 makes your machine too slow.
Do try all of the resetting and troubleshooting techniques. They may help.

  • Automatic App Updates in iOS 7

    Hello,
I have automatic app updates turned on but it doesn't seem to be doing anything. I've had to update my app manually so far. Right now I have three listed as "pending" but they haven't downloaded yet. Is there some kind of delay?
    Thanks.

  • App updated to iOS 7, but has an iOS 6 copy which is undownloadable?

    Hello!
I could use some help.. Basically, my friend's iPhone kinda doesn't work anymore, so she took her sisters iPod 4g. I have the same iPod, and she said that she was going to download this app we use to read and write on. I know it has an iOS 6 copy, and that's what her iPod and my own are on, but the app had recently updated to have an iOS 7 update. She went to download it, but it said she had to be iOS 7 or up. But I have iOS 6 and have the app.
Please do help quickly, it would be much appreciated!

    Try:
Starting when iOS 7 was released, Apple now allows downloading the last compatible version of some apps (iOS 4.2.1 and later only)
App Store: Downloading Older Versions of Apps on iOS - Apple Club
App Store: Install the latest compatible version of an app
You first have to download the non-compatible version on your computer. Then when you try to purchase the version on your iPod you will be offered a compatible version if one exists.

  • How can I see app updates in iOS 6

Ever since a few months ago, I have been having issues with my iOS 6 iPhone.  Updating it is not an option, as it is a company device.  The numeral badge appears on the App Store icon from the home screen, and from any screen inside the App Store but the update tab.  When I click that tab, the 15 pending updates (and the badge) disappears.  It shows all apps as being up to date, even though I know they're not.
I'd have no problem updating each app by searching, but such is hard when the list will not display.  Many apps have broken through the update cycle, and I am unable to see which ones to update.  Given my 40+ apps, removing all and updating on the computer isn't a viable option either
    Whats's the problem?

Close all apps in the back ground. Hold the power button untill the 'slide to power-off' appears. Now let go of the power button and press the home button untill the screen dissapears and warps you back to the home screen. Now, the cache is cleared.
You can also do this 'per-app'.
    Enjoy...
P.S.: This works for ALL iPhone OS AND iOS devices, even for the original iPhone.

  • App updates in iOS 7

Did I understand that the apps we're suppose to update themselves rather than going to the App Store and clicking on update all?

Yes indeed, however if you didn't turn this on after first installing iOS 7 and going to the App store you can turn it on or indeed off by going to Settings>iTunes & App Store>Updates - toggle the switch here on(green) and off(plain).

  • App update and iOS 8.1.1

Using an iPad2 with 64 gig, wifi, and cellular.  I downloaded iOS 8.1.1 on Monday and now find that the updates fron the iTunes store do not complete, often lockin out that app.  I have signed out and back in to the store, and also toggled airplane mode to see if this would help, but apps are still waiting for the update.  Also, have turned the iPad off and back on, but this does not help.
    ANy suggestion would be appreciated.
    thanks, John

  • Why won't my apps update on iOS 7?

My App Store says I have 7 apps to update, but when I go to the App Store, nothing comes up. Why is this happening?

Because, as has been said here many, many times now (not meaning to seem snippy), the fourth-generation iPod touch cannot run iOS 7.
Forum Tip: Since you're new here, you've probably not discovered the Search feature available on every Communities page, but next time, it might save you time (and everyone else from having to answer the same question multiple times) if you search a couple of ways for a topic, both in the relevant forums and in the Apple Knowledge Base before you post a question.
    Regards.

  • Prevent app update

I have an app on my iPhone that I do NOT want to update, nor do I want the update to appear in iTunes.  I want to keep the old version (the new version has mega-annoying 'buy a full featured version' reminders - the older version does not).  I know I can individually click on updates to download them, but at some point, I know I will hit 'Update All', and the hassle begins.  Can I forever bury this update?
Using Mac OSX 10.6.8, iTunes 11.3
    Thanks.

  • How can I cancel an app update in iOS 6 without deleting it?

I usually just update all my apps, but this time I don't want to. The app is foxtube (youtube caching player). I just realized (after I pressed update) that the new update disables caching (by request of youtube), which defeats the whole purpose of the app in the 1st place. Currently I paused the download, but how can I stop it from resuming? I don't want to delete it because I don't have backup of previous version in my pc itunes. I downloaded it via wifi. I really like this apps feature because I can watch videos later without buffering, & also to show it to my friends. But the new updates makes it totally worthless. Please help!!

You'd do that if you wanted to add in all your contacts from facebook - it makes it useful to find out who's using other apps - 4 square - whatsapp, facetime etc.   I had many facebook contacts that I don't call, however if they are using other things, I might be talking to them.  So yeah, I decided to bring in all my facebook contacts.  It has created a mess that I'm trying to clean up though.  The mess is that I have a lot of duplicate contacts ( a facebook contact of Mary Smith and a contact on my phone of Aunt Mary).  I know that when I go and edit one of the 2, there is an option to link the 2, which will then merge the data (adds email info, birthday, facebook contact info, twitter etc) but it doesn't delete one of the contacts.  It should give an option to delete one of the merged contacts.. but it doesn't.  I'm not sure how to fix this.  I've been asking the boards here, but no solution has been given.
There has to be a way to do this (easily) that is

  • Old email preventing Apps updateing

When I try and update my Apps and in ITunes, sometimes an OLD email address appears and asks for the password.  I have not used this email address in over 6 years, yet it is embedded somewhere that I cannot change it.  When I undate my apps on the IPhone, it asks for it.  Otherwise I have been able to update and change every other MAC account ... but this remains somewhere.  Any idea how to find and make this change? ITunes? IMAc?

  • App "print to pdf" no printing to pdf possible since update to ios 5.0.1 / were ist the App in Appstore?????????

Why can't i print anymore with print to pdf?

If its an iPad 1, (easy way to tell is, if it does not have a camera, its an iPad 1) it cannot update beyond iOS 5.1.1.
However, you may still be able to get compatible versions of the Apps you want.
You will have to download the App to iTunes on a computer or another device that does support the App using the same Apple ID you have on your iPad.
With that done you can follow these instructions from your iPad to get a compatible version:
