Hi-
I have Adobe Reader 7.0.9 and I need to keep it as my default Adobe reader program and plug-in for some applications that I use.
Over the last week, Adobe reader 8.1.2 downloads automatically and installs itself in my business laptop (Win XP SP2) and replaces my 7.0.9 version.
Each time I uninstall the 8.1.2 and reinstall the 7.0.9. I ensure the option of automatic download and install is disabled in 7.0.9.
But it still happens I have for the xth time today the new 8.1.2 in my laptop.
Anybody knows what is going on ? And how can I solve this issue to keep my 7.0.9 version ?

Grrrrr. This needs a solution. I have a portable wifi account I use for teaching (mainly Apple devices) and when traveling. It updates my download capacity in 1gb chunks at $10 each. Just traveling at the moment, and this coincides with Apple updates. Three devices, @ 2 odd gb ea, all deciding to update while I drive. By the time I got the update notices from Optus, all three devices had downloaded the updates and were waiting for me to press install. I don't mind installing, but I don't want to pay $60 for the downloads thru this account. I think Apple owes me $60. There's no reason they can't set a restriction on this type of download for user nominated accounts. This is a significant issue for a lot of people. Please Apple,

First try resetting your iPad and then try updating again.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
If it still will not work, try updating using iTunes. But before you do that, disable your firewall and your antivirus software, then try the update again.

I'm sorry, but you can't install updates automatically. You have to open iTunes and install these updates manually, and there isn't a workaround for this

I've noticed there is a Adobe Remote Update Manager, but I would rather all the updates and installs happen in the background.

Have many performance problems with latest versions of Firefox.
I remove fFrefox and reinstall 18.0 and everything is fine until Firefox automatically updates to 28.x.
I remove check in box when asked if want Firefox Maintenance installed, but downloads updates anyway and next time I bring-up then problems are back!!!
I have to start over again and never X Firefox.
I just want the basic Firefox - simple, FAST and WORKS !!!
Never liked IE - but may have to go back to it.
Chrome is also automatic download update.

What kind of problems do you have with the Firefox 28 release?
Did you check your security software (firewall, anti-virus) to make sure that the new version in allowed?
It is possible that your security software (firewall, anti-virus) blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full, unrestricted, access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

You can create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problem.

Webstart not able to automatically download and install JRE

I'm using the following tag. It used to work a few months ago, but now webstart says it could not able to automatically download it, and that the JRE must be installed manually.

6u3 was never posted for autodownload by javaws. If it used to work for you, you must have been on machine with it already loaded.
Why don't you just use 1.6.0_03+ ?
I'm not sure if _03 will ever be pushed, but I might be able to get 1.6.0_05 pushed for auto-download after it is released in a few weeks.

How do I make Firefox automatically download and install files?

When I download an exe file from the internet, it goes over to the download window. I can see it downloading but I always have to right click and and select open to get it to install. How do I get it to always install automatically? There is never any option called "Download this type of file all the time".

Force Adobe CS6 to automatically download and install from AUSST 2.0

We are currently in the process of rolling out Adobe CS6 Master Collection to about 2000+ endpoints. Currently these machines are running CS5 and CS5.5 Master Collections. I have setup and tested an AUSST 2.0 server and created the override files for my computer (running CS6) it detected and downloaded the updates from our update server, but it requires me to run the "Updates..." from inside say Photoshop and once it goes to install the updates, elevate because of the UAC. Our users are not admins and we cannot be having our desktop support running around installing updates on 2000+ machines monthly. This is the reason that the CS6 install was created from AMMEE. So they can have as little touch time as possible. I wanted to see if there was a way to force the CS6 products to update themselves without user or admin interaction.
Currently my AdobeUpdateAdminPrefs.dat is set like this:

The steps detailed below can help stabilize your iPhone.
Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
Check if a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) is activated or there are signs of corrosion. Learn about LCIsand corrosion.
Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
After at least 30 minutes, if:
The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. If it immediately turns off, seek service.

I use firefox portable and have disabled auto-update in Options, but it still automatically downloaded and installed version 16.0.2 from 14.0.1

I use Firefox portable 14.0.1 and it was displaying you are on release update channel. Even with the auto-update option disabled, it updated to version 16.0.2 thus resulting in some of my add-ons not working.

Chinese Word list Update 1.5 not downloaded and installed automatically

On my Macbook Pro with Retina display 15 inches running OSX 10.8.3, an update called "Chinese Word list Update 1.5" show up on Update available list in Appfresh application. But when I click on install, Mac APp Store open to search for that update, but it end up with "No update available"
When I click Software Update from Apple menu, the same thing with No update available occurred.
On my system information, I have Chinese Wrd list Update 1.0, 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 1nd 1.4 installed. But I can't get this 1.5 Chinese Word list Update to automatically downloaded and installed as in the previous version

This includes a) check the boxes to activate the simplified and traditional input sources in system preferences/language & text/input sources, b) download the additional 10 chinese fonts which Apple provides only when you try to enable them in Fontbook, and c) download the additional chinese voices which Apple provides only when you check their boxes in system preferences/speech/system voice/customize.
