Preventing Desktop Mananger from loading at startup

Hi
I am running Vista and the latest version of BB Desktop Manager on my laptop.
Sometimes, I need to be up and running quickly, but DM takes ages to load on my laptop and prevents other programs from starting too.
Is there a way to set DM so that it only starts when I want it to - not when Windows starts?
Any help appreciated!

Go to Solution.

This option comes while installing Desktop Manager. You need to modify installing option from Add/Remove programs of you computer. There you'll find Modify option and then go to Repair Desktop Manager. Uncheck the start up option.
Another way is modifying Startup process of the windows by using msconfig command.

  • Can't prevent unwanted toolbar from loading in Acrobat Pro 9

    I downloaded an evaluation copy of EverMap AutoBookmark plug-in.  I prefer not to automatically open toolbars that I don't use regularly when first opening Acrobat, but I can't keep the AutoBookmark toolbars from loading, even if I uncheck those particular toolbars.  EverMap support claims that it is a problem in Acrobat.  I have also had the same issue with a free plug-in from the Acrobat for Legal Professionals site. Plug-ins work fine, but I can't prevent the toolbars from loading on startup.
    Anyone else experience this issue?

    Sometimes it is simplest to simply enter the Acrobat folder and move the plugins that are a problem. Just copy then to a backup so you can put them back when you need them. I think that the presence or absence of the plugins is all that Acrobat needs.

  • An error prevented the view from loading

    I'm using SQL Server 2012 Express and I'm building a report with one table.  I dragged and dropped two data set elements into the table that has two columns (Product Name and Product Description).  Both the dataset elements have
    a data type of varchar (50) in SQL Server 2012 Express.  The table with those two elements is the only data I have in Design view.  When I click on Preview, the Preview screen states 'An error prevented the view from loading.'.  This is difficult
    to diagnose, because in the Error List there are '0 Errors', '0 Warnings', and '0 Messages'.  I would like help understanding if there is another error log I can observe to understand the issue, or if there are basic SQL Server 2012 Express Reporting
    Services debugging techniques.  Please help.  Thank you,
    Additionally, when I run the query in SQL Server 2012 Express and Reporting Services Query Designer the query results are correct.
    Also, when I click the start debugging button, the report displays and I can export it to pdf, however the Previous still displays the error.

    Well, funny stuff.  I shut the solution down yesterday, then I booted my computer today and started the solution AND JUST LIKE MAGIC....it works.  I can't explain it.  Persistence pays, that's the answer sometimes.

  • How to prevent the User from loading more than one seq file?

    Hi,

    Hello mhousel,
    Testexec.exe by default loads the sequence files that were last open when it runs.  It is often desired behavior to have multiple sequence files load automatically.
    [Mark Housel] Maybe for some but certainly not for me.
    This should be easily handled by TestStand without any problems.  What do you mean by "chaos ensues"?
    Certainly Teststand doesn't care a bit how many sequences are open.  But, when my sequences open they initialize HW of the ATE associated with
    that sequence file during the sequenceFileLoad callback.  e.g. I allocate TELNET handles to a terminal
    server that connects to multiple console within the system and als for
    the UUT.
    If a second sequence opens it knows nothing about the other sequence and again tries to open a TELENT session to the same port of the
    terminal server and obviously fails, so my sequence reports that it
    can't properly initialize the ATE HW.  Bad juju!
    Are your sequence files set to run automatically when they are loaded?
    I guess so.  Other than the trick of logging in as the special noExecution user and having special code in my sequence and modified Process Model I have no idea how to prevent a sequence fronm "runnin" when opened.
    If you want to prevent Testexec.exe from loading multiple files, you should be able to close out one of the open files when it loads and that sequence file should not load in the future.  I hope that helps.
    The trick I read somewhere else of modifying the Testexec.uir file to never re-load a sequence file automatically seemes to have covered up solved the problem.
    Thanks,
    Mark

    Ian, thanks for your quick reply.
    I just hope Apple is going to build this feature into one of the next firmware updates, since from my point of view this is not only a security concern, but could turn out quite expensive if you are on a bad price plan.

  • Prevent Plug-In From Loading/Running

    Hi Folks,
    What is the recommended way to prevent a plug-in from loading (CS3 and CS4, Mac and Win)? I'm releasing a pre-release build of a plug-in, and I want it to expire after a certain date. When the user starts up ID or IC after the expiration date, I want to pop up an alert and inform the user that the pre-release has expired, and then not load the plug-in.
    Another way to do this would be for me allow the plug-in to load, but disable all of the UI, but I would rather just not allow it to load at all.
    Thanks in advance for any help!

    Ages ago ...
    ID3SDK/docs/references/sdkdocs/api/classPlugIn.html#a3
    Called when the application loads the plug-in.
    Typically a plug-in that needs to do some action at startup should use IStartupShutdownService. The plug-in should override Load only if there is some global state which, if missing, would cause the plug-in to be useless.
    Returns:
    bool16 kTrue if plug-in loaded OK, false otherwise.
    This never worked correctly, some of the resources would still load and cause defunct menu items etc. Instead of fixing the feature, the comment was adjusted. :(
    I fear you're stuck with locked UI.

  • How to prevent recalcitrant programs from loading

    After a reboot I have one program that continues to load at start-up even after I am sure it is 1) not in the "login Items" window in preferences, 2) is not set to "open at login," and 3) I have quit the program before re-boot. Can anyone tell me what else I can do to prevent the program from opening at login. I am set as current (and only) user and adminstrator. I have searched Library for clues, but found none.
    Thanks,

    ...now that i've found it, i'd have to agree with the
    last thread's advice to not worry about it, except
    for one exception: when my app is executed, it checks
    for a settings file. if not present, it initiates
    these settings (asks the user to setup a password,
    etc). if a second instance were loaded, the potential
    exists, depending on which instance were closed
    first, for the user to unknowingly save over their
    initial program setup.
    any suggestions for getting around that?
    Perhaps you can create the settings file as a place holder when the program detects that it isn't there, either empty or with default values. Get the user input and overwrite the place holding file.
    Subsequent executions, or a second execution on the same desktop, "see" the settings file exists and skip that portion.

  • Prevent internal drive from mounting at startup

    How do I easily prevent an internal hard drive from mounting at startup?
    The machine has two internal drives and I want the upper drive to not mount unless needed. Both are bootable but lower is chosen as the startup drive.
    Thanks for any help.
    G5 dual 2.5 ghz   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

    Take it out and put it in a removable FW + SATA case.
    There is little need or reason to have it not mount. If it is backup or emergency drive, external would be preferable... and put internal drive bay to some other use.

  • When I first startup firefox I automatically get a web page displayed that I cannot exit from. I move the firefox page to another workspace to get rid of it. How do I prevent this webpage from loading ?

    web page automatically loads up each time and the exist bottom is disabled on the screen.

    Maybe your problem is caused by that particular add-on?
    I use the Print/Print Preview add-on and have never had that happen. <br />https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/printprint-preview/

  • Prevent multiple tabs from loading on login

    25-29 tabs of sites I previously opened all try to load when I log in, which slows the opening and ability to use Firefox. How do I prevent that from happening?

    You need to change your profile so that on opening you get a pre-chosen home page or a blank page.
    The easiest way to do this is with the 'menu bar' visible
    Tools -> Options -> General
    That leads to a 'startup' dialogue including 'When firefox starts'
    Chose the option for a blank page or a home page, instead of previous tabs.

  • Prevent desktop icons from being created

    Hello all!
    Does anyone know of a way to prevent users from creating new icons on the desktop? We do not want to use the "hide all icons on the desktop" option because we still allow them to use "My Computer" and "Internet Explorer", plus any ZEN pushed icons that we place on the dekstop after they login. We only want to prevent a normal non-localadmin user from creating new icons on the desktop.
    Thanks!
    Larry

    Have you tried redirecting %DESKTOP% to a Read-Only share?
    You could script the removal of NTFS rights to the DESKTOP folder in the
    user's profile dir via ZEN as well.

  • Removing root processes from loading at startup

    I've got a couple of "MIssing Sync" daemons (viewed in Activity Monitor) that I need to edit out of whatever Unix file is directing OS X to load them at startup. These are root level processes. Can anyone direct me to a file I can edit? Thanks.

    I'm having the same issue - or a similar one - happening to me. My Finder, selected to Home Folder, appears on my desktop when I start up my Mac. It happened to me a while ago, and I seem to recall fixing it by clearing some option in System Preferences that said something like "display Finder during startup." Thing is, this behavior started acting up on me again this past weekend, and now I can't find that option.
    Anyone else know what I'm talking about?

  • Preventing PHP script from loading the actual page

    In my ActionScript 2 code it send the data to a php script but then loads the actual script into the browser which just shows a blank page. I don't want to load the processing script into the browser at all. How do I prevent this?
    Here's my actionscript:
    var submitListener:Object = new Object();
    submitListener.click = function(evt:Object) {
    fname2 = fname.text;
    lname2 = lname.text;
    var send_lv:LoadVars = new LoadVars();
    send_lv.fname = fname.text;
    send_lv.lname = lname.text;
    send_lv.email = email.text;
    send_lv.dept = dept.text;
    send_lv.campus = campus.text;
    send_lv.uaid = uaid.text;
    send_lv.phone = phone.text;
    send_lv.send("http://distance.uaf.edu/ferpa/process.php", "POST");
    gotoAndStop("certificate");
    submit_button.addEventListener("click", submitListener);

    create a 2nd lv instance, use the sendAndLoad() method applied to send_lv and use your 2nd lv instance as the sendAndLoad() 2nd parameter:
    var receiveLV:LoadVars=new LoadVars()
    send_lv.sendAndLoad("xxxx.php",receiveLV,"POST");
    p.s.  if you want to parse the return from your php script, use the onLoad() or onData() methods applied to receiveLV.
