Preventing Duplicates When Separating Events

Hi,
I have just noticed that I now have two copies of the same pictures after attempting to sort pictures out of an "event." After selecting pictures within an event and then dragging them to the "Event" listing on the left side, iPhoto not only created a new "event" for the selected photos, but also kept the photos in the "original event." Is there a way to automatically have iPhoto delete the pictures which are a moved out of the original event? This may sound confusing and I would be grateful to anyone who can make sense out of my sloppy writing/explanation. Thanks in advance.

If you want to create a new event from some photos, simply flag the pics you want to move and then go Events -> Create Events from Flagged Photos.
Fwiw I don't get copies when I drag to the Events heading, I get the files moved to a new Event.
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild.

If you have an email account that syncs over the air, you can get duplicates when syncing if you have these selections checked to sync with iTunes. Go to the Info Tab in iTunes when the device is connected to your computer and you are ready to sync - and look at what you have checked to sync. Look at Contacts, Calendars,and Other.

How to prevent duplicate submission?

I have a page for gathering some data:

When focus on submit button,I click at the button and press the space bar at the same time,saveHander function execute two times.
How can I prevent duplicate submission? thanks!

Assuming this is a form you are attempting to save, good UX practice is to disable the form once you begin local form validation (submit button clicked) prior to forming your data packet for save.
Doing so will prevent the anomaly you are experiencing.
In other cases where the above practice is not practical, you can setFocus to another component (off the submit button) because as long as the focus remains on the button, depressing the space bar will trigger the mouse event for the button. Research ADA compliance if you want more details.

Duplicate All-Day events in Entourage, iCal and iPhone

When I sync my iPhone calendars at work, I am getting duplicate all day events (ie, birthdays, anniversary, etc). I'm using the Entourage sync services to create an iCal.
Is anyone having a similar problem or solution?

I have had a similar problem with all-day events in Entourage.
So far, I have had to manually delete the unwanted all-day events, but once deleted, they have not come back.
My theory is this: I already was syncing Entourage and iCal even before the iPhone. When I added the iPhone, it added a Calendar called "Entourage" to the iCal. It synced Entourage, my home iCal, my work iCal, and the iPhone to the iCal "Entourage" Calendar, leading to multiple junk. I added an application to my Mac which automatically keeps track of library books I have checked out, and puts the due dates on my iCal. When I added this, I got a whole new round of double all-day events.
You can delete them either in Entourage or in the iPhone, but I have gotten more reliable results doing it in Entourage.
A keyboard shortcut is to point at the event with your mouse and then type {Apple Key} {backwards delete} d

Does my iPad make duplicates when i put them in albums? They apear on filmrol(photolist?) and when i try to delete it says: "delete everywhere?"
Another aspect (probably a bigger concern) of why this has my concern, is that it says i have 7.2 GB of photo's while i only have a 1000 or so photos on it! Even a digital illiterate like me knows 7.2MB per photo isnt normal. Most of them taken on a digital camera btw..
Can someone tell me whats going on and how i can solve/prevent this problem?

Yes. using the CCK, it transfers the compressed jpeg which should be about 2.5MB plus the raw file which according to your camera link is around 5MB. So the math makes sense.

Preventing duplicates in Aperture?

I'm using the Import function (not dragging from the Finder) JPG photos and I have the box checked "do not import duplicates" - yet when I import files into the same project I'm getting duplicates and they are the exact same file name. Is there some other setting I need to have checked or this a bug - does anyone know? It is definitely creating a lot of manual work to try and get rid of the duplicates once I've completed the import. Thanks for any help anyone can provide.

If you import from the same card into the same project, then it shouldn't duplicate. That said, this functionality is imperfect.
The best way to prevent duplicates is to not continually import the same files. When you import, you have the ability to choose what files you import; you should only select new files.

How to prevent duplicate vendor reference no on SAP B1 v8.8?

I have SAP B1 v.8.8 and they system is allowing me to enter the same Vendor Reference for different POs but same BP.
Is there a way to prevent duplicaton?
I read in other post that there was an option in Admin'-System Initialisation-Document settings......to block duplication, but that does not show on my screen.

However, my question would be if the version that I am using would have the option to block release when When duplicated Vendor Reference No occurs as I cannot find it.

I have 11 people designated under faces.
Do you see the 11 People when using the "Faces" view from the source list in the Library Inspector or from the "Faces" button in the toolbar?
If you are using the Faces button from the toolbar, you may have been excluding faces stacks you already created. Then, when you enter search strings, Aperture will suggest names from your contacts and you may create the same stack again.
Also, if the search field is not empty, you may already have more "Faces" stacks than you are actually seeing.
As you certainly know, you can always unite "Faces" stacks by dragging a stack onto the other to merge them. The merged stack will use the name of the stack you dragged to.

I am trying to acheive some thing like this but i beleive
Insert Statement is not allowed in Case or Select is expecting some
thing in return that is why it keeps on giving me Missing
Expression . Is there any other way to prevent duplicate insertion
. i know we can do it by running another Query and then based on
recoundcount or count of that seperate query inserting records but

It would be a lot better for everyone if you actually put a
unique constraint on your table rather than all this programming
(remember Oracle can have constraints). and preferably handle it in
a proper procedure and not injection - note that the "Answer" in
this thread does not actually return any information about whether
the record was inserted or not, just the actual record (nor does it
update the non-duplicate columns).

Hi there,
I wonder if there is any approach to prevent duplicate login to Weblogic
server using the same userID and password.(weblogic provided or programmatic
is OK). I tried to use a table to maintain the current active user
information, but when the user just quits the browser or the weblogic server
is shut down, this will not work because the flag still remain in the table.
Does anyone have try it before or know how to do it?

Actually, I am now using the similar solution except that I place a static
field(a hashtable) in the class that implements the
HttpSessionBindingListener to record the current users rather than store the
information in database table. Thus when the application server shuts down,
I don't need to clear the dirty data in the table.

Preventing duplicate asset creation

I'm trying to work out how to prevent my users from entering duplicate assets into the system. The situation is that we will have people manually creating new assets from an account or contact, but we will also likely have people bulk loading assets via import. Preventing duplicates from a bulk import is not really a problem, however preventing it when a record is manually seems to be a significant challenge!
Would appreciate any suggestions from the community.

Cameron, the report with a prompt would allow you to see a duplicate asset. The report could be a report in a custom web tab which would allow a user to easily access it. However, report is not going to work because of the ability of not being able to report on assets under a contact! , On Demand does allow you to enter a duplicate contact thru the UI. All I am saying is that a web service program could check for duplicates.

How can I stop getting emails when adding events to iCal (Mac) or Calendar (iOS)?

This question could just as well go to the iCloud on my Mac community...
I put 'I' in the topic for brevity but it's actually my wife who gets emails every time either of us adds or edits events, whether we do it in iCal on either of our Macs or in Calendar on our iOS devices. Presumably this is to do with a setting in iCloud somewhere, but I've searched high and low and can’t find it. I've also compared settings on our Macs and phones and can't find anything that could be the culprit. It's driving her nuts!
For more information, we share all our calendars so that either of us read and write any of them, and we're both on iOS 5.1 on our iPhones (hers is a 3GS, mine's a 4), and we're both on Mac OS X 10.7.3 Lion (2010 27" iMac and 2011 MacBook Pro respectively).

this seems to be a new "bug" on iCloud. It's happened to many users (judging by the posts here). My wife and I have one shared calendar and we've been happily using it without the email problems (because I had set iCloud NOT to email us whenever an event changed - this was done at icloud.com, a setting there). Recently we began getting emails. I suspect a change in iCloud that was in error, because I just checked my setting and the option to have an email sent when an event changes is not checked.
