Preventing non-delivery reports (NDR) being sent by mail server

I need to stop my SL mail server from sending non-delivery reports for unknown local recipients.
Does anyone know to do this? There is a lot of information on how to change the Postfix settings via numerous Google searches, but none of the configuration changes I make seem to prevent the delivery reports.
Any help would be hugely appreciated

Maybe. The NDR my machine sends out go to the sender and not back to me. So I never see them. No I cannot tell you how to turn them off. At best (worst?) that would make your server non-compliant with the SMTP standard, and I have no desire to turn off something that is not affecting me anyway.

  • EWA Report not being sent for two systems

    Hi Experts,
    We are having one issue in EWA Report in solution manager. Searched hard but could not find solution.
    Our solution manager is configured to provide EWA for 4 systems- ECC, BW, PI and Solution manager itself.
    The configurations are in place to the extend that we are able to view the weekly reports in Solution manager.
    Issue is -
    1. We are able to recieve mail notification for Solution Manager and ECC but not able to get for BW and PI.
    2. The ECC report is coming ok, but Solution manager report is blank.
    The places I checked the configuration -
    1. SDCCN for all systems.
    2. SOLMAN_EWA_ADMIN - all systems active and chcked for EWA
    3. Background Jobs for all systems -Maintenance Package, Refresh Session, Earlywatch Alert for Solution Manager
    4. Background Jobs related to the task including SM:EXEC SERVICES
    Later on I deleted and rescheduled the job SM:EXEC SERVICES to make sure it covers all systems.
    Data is visible in Solution Manager but report is not being sent over mail for two systems- BW and PI.
    Solution manager report is being sent but empty.
    Please suggest.

  • My schedule report is being sent twice

    Crystal 10.0
    This has happened to two of my reports now and I can't see anything wrong. I've loaded the report in the normal way and confirmed its working, then added a schedule to send it automatically to a number of people (individual email addresses entered). The report runs at the designated time, but two copies of the report are sent.
    I'm sure the report is being generated twice as I have the time in the file extension and there is a tiny difference. However there is only one recurring items in the history and it doesn't happen to all the reports, just the last couple I've added.
    Has anybody encountered this before?

    u can do it by writing a data transfer routine on in the header level. u can prevent it from being copied.

  • Reports not being sent as attachments to email

    I used rwcli60 to fire off a report to a report server (both running on Solaris 2.6), with destype being mail, and desname my email id, and desformat PDF. I did receive the email of the report, but it showed up in the body of the mail instead of as an attachment. What should I do to make the report be sent as an attachment? Is report server invoking r60mail.sh (which has commented out text for orasend) and invokes plain mail? Any help would be much appreciated.

    We solved this problem by changing r60mail.sh. We changed r60mail.sh into a Perl script, and used the MIME::Lite module of perl to send out the report as an attachment.

    What’s the email client, Outlook or OWA?
    How about sending to these recipients one by one?
    According to the error code, it seems an GAL & OAB issue.
    Please make sure all the recipients are valid and can be resolved from GAL.
    If the problem email client is Outlook, please try to use OWA or Outlook Online mode.
    If it works on OWA or Outlook Online, it seems an issue on the OAB side.
    Please try to download OAB files on Outlook manually.
    Also try to delete the OAB files on Windows Client, path as below:
    \Users\<UserName>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook\Offline Address Books
    Please try to run Outlook under safe mode to avoid some AVs and add-ins.
    Please try to re-create profile to refresh the caches.
    More details on the NDR will be helpful for the further troubleshooting.

  • Change the SMTP 550 non delivery message

    Hi,
    I want to change the texte of the non delivery report (SMTP code 550)  send by the email appliance. 
    What is the simple way to do that ?
    Moreover, i would like to know how long the applicance will keep the message in queue in case of my internal email server will be out of order ?
    Where can i see/change this setting ?

    You can set the 550 from the appliance, Mail Policies > Mail Flow Policies > Choose Policy Name.  From there, see the DHAP section:
    To answer the second part of your question...
    By default, mail is queued for 72 hours (259200 seconds) OR 100 retry attempts before it bounces to the original sender. 
    This setting is configurable from the command line (CLI): type bounceconfig and edit the default settings.  Also, you can modify this from the GUI interface by going to "Network > Bounce Profiles" and click on the Default profile.
    Also, the queue could fill up if there is too much mail. However, if the system reaches its storage limit, it will soft bounce further attempts by other mail servers to deliver more messages. This ensures that no messages will get lost, as these mail servers will reattempt message delivery as well until the ESA accepts messages again.
    Note: If you plan to shut down your internal mail server for maintenance for a longer period (more than a couple hours), best practice is to suspend the incoming listeners on your ESA as well (suspendlisteners). As mentioned before, in this case any connection attempts will be soft bounced, and retried later. This way, you leave the task of storing the messages to the sending mail server, which will prevent the mail queue on your email appliances filling up quickly. No messages will be lost however, once you got your internal mail server back into service, also resume the listeners on your ESA (resume), to allow delivery from remote hosts again.

  • Non-delivery issue

    My mail server doesn't seem to send a user a non-delivery report if the user mis-addresses the email (such as mispelling or leaving off ".com" or some such.) Isn't the system supposed to tell you it can't deliver the mail? How can I repair this? I don't see a toggle in SA, and I'm not exacly sure of what to tag in main.cf. Any suggestions? Thanks....

    In my case, they must not be set. I searched through main.cf and could not find a line that read "delaywarningtime ="
    I thought it would have been a default value.
    Should I add those two lines with values to main.cf? Or do they go in master.cf? Do you need to see the output of postconf -n?
    To be clear, what I need is that if I send an email that is misaddessed, and doesn't go out, (or doesn't go out for any other reason) - then I get a message back from the mail server telling me that my message didn't go for whatever reason - that way I know I did it wrong or that it didn't make it.
    This happened to the boss two days ago, and he didn't understand why the guy had not replied. I found the message stuck (mailq) because it was misaddressed, and he was not happy he didn't get a warning.

  • Draft letters not being sent

    I moved 2 inbox mails to draft. Than tried to send them to myself to get them back into the inbox. Now they are stuck in no mans land stuck in the sending area but can not be sent because mail server Mac can't be opened. However, any mail I create as new does get sent. Would appreciat any help.

There is a radio button in PO Output screen which lets you select whether to print the PO or send it by mail. Would anyone know which table holds this data?

  • Delivery report shows status of Pending for external address. Email sent to both internal and external addresses.

    We have an Exchange 2013 on-premise server and seem to have an issue with emails sent to internal and external users at the same time.
    The issue came to light because someone sent an email to 44 recipients, of which one was internal. None of the external recipients received the email. I checked the delivery report in the EAC and found the internal email marked as 'Delivered' and all of
    the external ones marked as 'Pending'. I checked the queues and there were none. I did some testing and sent an email to just one of the external addresses on the list, it arrived. I tried sending the email again to all of the recipients, the external ones
    all showed 'Pending'. I tried it again, but this time excluded the internal email address and all of the 43 external emails were immediately delivered.
    So it seems that the issue only arises when we are sending to both internal and external addresses.
    I then tried a test email to one internal address and one external address. The Delivery report says that the internal address was delivered immediately, while the external address is 'Pending' and gives more information saying: 'Message delivery is taking
    longer than expected. There may be system delays. For more information, contact your helpdesk.'. To add further mystery to this, the email was actually delivered.
    So, I have two concerns:
    First is seems that some emails sent both internally and externally are only arriving internally. This is a huge problem because I don't know how many have been affected. There may be many lost emails we don't know about.
    Second, it looks like I can't trust the delivery report. It says pending for some emails which didn't arrive, but it also says pending for some which did arrive. That is no good at all.
    For info the server is running Windows Server 2012. I have run a Microsoft Update to check if there are any to apply and the only Exchange one is a spam filter update, which I doubt has any bearing but I will apply when I get chance.

    It has the similar situation as yours.
    This issue occurs because a function in a message tracking component tries to obtain the information for the recipient instead of the external recipient.
    Please try to upgrade to the latest Exchange update to check whether this issue can be solved.
    Also please check whether Throttling has been set.
    Please run "Get-TransportService | fl" to check the MaxOutboundConnections parameter value.

  • Error seen in table used for creating report being sent to BW

    we use customised table in creting a delivery report which is then being sent to BW. In <u>order</u> there is only one line item as well as in the <u>delivery</u>.. the item is warehouse managed material that is why in delivery, it reflects there that it picks from several bins/pallets to fulfill the ordered quantity... but when we run the order in a custimised table to create a report for BW.. it has more than 10 line items (only one material) compared to only one line item in <u>order</u>... all the line item in table does not fulfill the ordered quantity but they are in descending order... Is this normal/wrong? Why did it happen?

    Hello,
    If I don't have send as permissions and I try to send as someone it sends the message and I get a NDR. Is it possible to stop the email being sent so that you don't get the NDR?
    Once it is sent it's not in sent items so the original is lost. Any way to stop that happening?

    i dont understand as to why we need to send an email from some one with out permission ... its obviious that we will get the NDR if we send it with out permission and that is how is designed to restrict such activity
    I am not sure if there is any way to restrict in sending the mails and dont understand as to what you are achiving by doing this
