Preventing saving of pdf docs in X Pro

Hi
Is there a way to prevent people saving a pdf doc onto their hard drive in Acrobat X Pro? Perhaps by removing the 'save' feature or toobar etc, or any other way? The aim is so that people won't email a confidential document to others. (I know about the password encryption etc, but the probelm there is they can send the password to others - which basically defeats the purpose).
Any answers will be very much appreciated.
thank you.

thank you.
is there not a way of making it 'read only'?  Wont that help?
What are these DRM solutions and which would you recommend?

  • I saved a PDF doc in adobe and then added text to the form. But every time I try an email it it only

I saved a PDF doc in adobe and then added text to the form. But every time I try an email it it only sends the original form without text. Once I've changed a doc in Adobe, how can I save it so that I'm able to use it with added text and notes? Also, I'm using a new iPad.

If you are using those apps or websites, they are likely viewing the PDF using iOS' built in PDF previewing, which will not show annotations and markup to the PDF. We have informed Apple of this issue, but do not have any insight into whether or when they will fix it.
Regarding the qustion about importing pictures, Adobe Reader does not provide any capabilities to import pictures into a PDF. To do this, you'll need to use Acrobat, available on your desktop computer.

  • Why is my search 1000% slower after re-saving a PDF? (Acrobat 9 Pro Extended)

I purchased and downloaded the PDF version of "Javascript: the Definitive Guide" (Flanagan, David, O'Reilly Press, 5th Ed., 2006).
When I first started using the PDF, searches would yield results instantaneously. After making some notations and highlighting some text, I saved the PDF.
    Now searches are ridiculously slow.
Luckily, I had a backup copy of the PDF in another folder. I re-opened the original and tried my save again: voila! Same instananeous results.
I thought maybe there had been an embedded index in the PDF, and that re-saving the PDF somehow corrupted or removed it. However, in the original version of the PDF, I can't find anything that indicates why searching is so much faster.
    Any ideas?

Also, look at your Search preferences. For example, try Ctrl + K > Search > Fast Find

  • Unknown embedded font is preventing saving as PDF

I am aware that some fonts cannot be saved into PDFs because of licensing restrictions, but I am having a hard time finding where Indesign is referencing this font in this case. I'm guessing that it might be in one of the linked files perhaps? I did not use that particular font anywhere in the document and when I go to "find/change..." under "glyphs", that font is not listed there. I'm not sure where that font is coming from. Is there a way to search for that font in my links and in the document itself? Thanks!

Thanks! That worked! I guess I must have forgotten to create outline on the font before I saved it to a pdf and it was being found in linked pdfs.

  • Opening files automatically in VBA and saving to PDF, Adobe Acrobat XI Pro

    Hello,
I have Adobe Acrobat XI Pro and I want to ask if there is any possibility to open automatically files in Adobe by VBA (Word files, Excel, etc.) and save them to PDF?  Or maybe it is a possibility to print them with Adobe PDF Printer?  If there is something like that can you give me a sample of code?
    Thank for your help.
    Best regards,
    Robert

    Thank you for your advices.
I already download Acrobat SDK before, but it's really complicated for someone who know only VBA at intermediate level.
I really plan to learn javascripts and COM in future, but I was thinking that if I ask you for I guess easy think (opening files and saving them to pdf) you will help by giving similar code or some clues.
Anyway I found  this two methods in documentation: PDDoc.Save and PDDoc.Open and I believe that a combination of them can finally help me. Do you know how I can connect them to one part?

  • Cannot create any PDF docs with Acrobat Pro 7.0

I have Adobe Acrobat Pro 7.0 running on Microsoft XP.  All of a sudden, I cannot
convert any documents into PDFs.  I have tried converting Microsoft Word
docs and those from other applications.  It is important to stress that I
have managed to do this many times in the past, but for some reason Acrobat
has suffenly stopped doing this.  I have tried 'printing' to PDF and
'converting' to PDF.  Each time I get the following error message on a
    'Notepad':
"%%[ Error: undefined; OffendingCommand: setdistillerparams; ErrorInfo:
    CalCMYKProfile U.S. Web Coated (SWOP) v2 ]%%
%%[ Flushing: rest of job (to end-of-file) will be ignored ]%%
Error accessing color profile: U.S. Web Coated (SWOP) v2
%%[ Warning: PostScript error. No PDF file produced. ] %%"
I have clicked on 'Detect & Repair' under the 'Help' menu button in Adobe
Acrobat and this supposedly did some form of reinstalling/fixing (without
the need for a CD to be inserted into the computer) and asked me to turn off
my computer & then turn it back on.
Having done this, I still cannot get docs to convert to PDF.
I have not added any particular hardware or software to my computer in
recent times.  Apart from the PDF conversion, everything else in Adobe
Acrobat Pro seems to run fine.  I can read all documents etc.
    Can you help me?
    Thanks,
    Alan

OK, I've got everything to work - so long as I 'Print' docs to PDF rather than clicking on the PDF conversion icons (if I click on these icons, I just get an error).
But if I print to PDF, everything now works - I've even managed to solve the Word problem - I think it was a faulty Word doc for some reason.  I found a useful document which told me how to set up all the settings for Acrobat Distiller (http://mydocs.epri.com/docs/CorporateDocuments/WorkingWithEPRI/CreatingAcrobatPDFs.pdf).
If you know how to make the PDF conversion icons work (it must be something simple) that'll save me having to print each time, it would be great, but I can survive without this.

  • Download of PDF docs to Acrobat Pro, outside FF, results in Corrupt File message. Does not occur in IE or Chrome. Same result if Reader inside FF is attempted.

Options set to have PDFs open in Adobe Acrobat (v 10 Pro) outside FF. File partially downloads and error message pops up indicating "There was an error opening this document. The file was damaged and could not be repaired.". Same result if Option is switched to having PDF open inside of FF. Not consistent - download will fail several times in a row, and then function properly. This issue began with V. 29 of FF, not seen previously. Adobe Acrobat is up-to-date, v. 10.1.10.
Same website, same PDF, works fine in IE or Chrome.
    Running on Windows 7 Pro 64-bit SP1.

Scanning occurs on the MS Exchange Server level, not my desktop, and occurs on imported files on ALL browsers, not only FF. Based on that, one wonders why the outcome would be different unless FF was treating the incoming files and/or the security scanning differently, leading to the failure of the downloads. As to the size, most of the files ARE a few MBs or more - that is the size of the PDFs I am interested in downloading.

  • How do I prevent copies of pdf docs to desktop when browsing the internet?

This has been bugging me for a long time. I can't find any settings anywhere to disable this. Every time I view a pdf document from an internet browser window, it automatically saves a copy to my desktop. My desktop gets littered with these if I'm viewing a lot of docs. Is there a way to turn off this "feature?" Thanks in advance.

Hi, and Welcome to the Discussions!
One way is to use Safari>Preferences>General>Download Files to..., and set it to another Location... I make a Folder in Documents called Downloads for this.
To completely eliminate downloading it at all, try PDF Browser Plugin...

Can anyone help with this - do I have to uninstall Reader and then reinstall?

I have had a trial version of Acrobat X1 Pro - I have decided not to buy at this stage - for some time it has been conflicting with opening PDF docs after "saving as" from word 2007 - I uninstalled Pro X1 and now when I "save as" PDF from word 2007 to PDF it will save the document as a PDF but will not open the document to display after publishing - I have to got to where the file has been saved to view the new PDF document - this is really annoying - do I have to delete adobe reader and reinstall it - adobe needs to look at this conflict with acrobat pro as I have even gone it to properties and tried to have adobe reader as the default PDF program - the main issue is that I cannot view the PDF after publishing it from word 2007

  • Prevent Printing of Web Accessible pdf created with Acrobot Pro X

I posted this elsewhere but have not had an reply so wondered if I asked in the wrong place.
    Hello,
Could I get brief answers to the following three questions...
    Question 1:
Do the prevent printing advanced options in Adobe Acrobat Pro X work reliably across all main browsers, such that I can safely display the .pdf files on a website, knowing that the majority of users (Chrome, Firefox. IE), will not be able to print the files, even if they save them to their local disk?
    Question 2:
Can I go further than that and actually prevent the local saving of the .pdf files altogether?
    Question 3:
Assuming one or both of the answers is Yes, which is what I am hoping for, will security measures prevent Google reading and indexing the files.
Actually, I want this also to be a yes. It is only the downloading and printing of the files I hope to prevent, restricting those actions to people who purchase the documents.
Many thanks in advance for your help.

    Question 1: No.
    Question 2: No.

  • I use adobe acrobat pro, why do existing pdf docs open in adobe reader?

How can I set all pdf docs to always open in acrobat pro vs adobe reader?

If you have both programs installed you can choose which one acts as the default by opening Preferences (in either of them) and on the General tab, click the "Set default PDF handler" button.

  • Pdf docs can not be opened in Firefox 3.6.13 on Win7 Pro

I recently installed Firefox 3.6.13 on brand new Dell Vostro with Win7 Pro. Whenever I try to download/open PDF docs, I get a blank screen.
The same docs open on IE8 just fine. Also, the same docs open fine on my other laptop with Firefox on XP Pro.
I have experienced this problem every time, on multiple web sites -- just can not open the pdf docs/web pages.
    What gives.

  • Acrobat Reader 11.0 and way to reduce size of scanned docs saved as 'pdf

    Dear correspondents,
I despair this message to be read and generate an answer. If it is, please give me an address to which I could send my request.
The issue is of decreasing the size in Mb of scanned files, saved as .pdf. I am in MaOS environment and use Adobe Reader 11.0.
I cannot find the command "Combine Files". From it and via "View" is is possible to open "Toolbar" and operate the size reduction.
I have seen this work done in Windows Environment successfully reducin a scanned file from 10 Mb to 1.1 Mb with a still acceptable quality.
