Preventing Skype Users Accessing a Toll Free Numbe...

Is it possible to request from Skype to block Skype users from dialing a specific Toll Free Number?
I work for a Teleconferencing Company and it seems like Fraudsters are using Skype to dial a Toll Free Number of ours and continually attempt to commit toll fraud on our bridges.
Because it is free to call Toll Free numbers it is allowing these people to make infinite amount of calls to try and hack our system.
So the alternate question, are Skype callers identified to telecommunications carriers and therefore can I have my Telco block Skype calls to my toll free numbers?

Hi, David_ray, and welcome to the Community,
"Toll Free" numbers in Australia may not be included in your subscription; Skype Customer Service can clarify this.
Here is a link to the instruction on how to contact Skype Customer Service via their secure portal: Contact Customer Service
Here are a few more notes to guide you along the way ...
You will need to proceed through each step, one at a time. Sign on to the Skype website as requested. Choose the subject and topic which most closely matches the item you need assistance with. Then, continue past Step 2 of the instruction where several articles from the FAQ library will appear for you to review, and proceed to Step 3, Continue Support Request (the blue "button" appears at the lower right corner of the website page). You may also skip through Step 4 where you will be referred back here to the Community; no need to do this as the Community is where you started. When you complete the webform and click Submit, your information is relayed to Skype and you will receive a reply via e-mail.
If you are a Skype Premium or other eligible customer, you will be routed to start an instant message chat session with a Customer Service agent.

Elaine

If it does not work, I do not believe it is supported.  According to the Skype FAQ only these countries are currently supported (with no timeline for other countries): https://support.skype.com/en/faq/FA24 Viewing the Pay as you go rates for India, India toll-free is not listed while other countries that are supported are listed. IndiaCalling - per minute 1excl. Hi!
Please be aware that it is only free to call toll free numbers in specific countries using Skype.
Unfortunately, toll free numbers in Belgium is not yet supported so the call was deducted on your subscription minutes. You can view the link below to know the supported countries where you can call toll free numbers using Skype without being charged:

Skype does not offer toll-free numbers.  If you want a Skype Online Number in the USA, you can choose from many states and area codes, but not from the toll-free area codes (800, 888, 877, 866, and 855).
If you want to have a toll-free number forward calls to a Skype account, you will have to contact some other provider for toll-free numbers.  Some of them may be able to forward a toll-free number directly to a Skype account name, but most will probably be able to only forward calls to another (non-toll-free) phone number.  In that case, you would still need to purchase a Skype Online Number, and then the toll-free provider would forward calls to that Online Number.

  • Calling Toll Free Number in Japan

I have $10 of Skype Credit and I have a Japanese Skype number. I am also in Japan. However, I still have not been able to make a call out to a land line, specifically a toll free number.  Is there something I'm doing wrong here? I'm totally confused.

Hello, raimundo65. As I have explained to the original poster, no. There are select countries where toll free numbers can be dialed and Brazil is not one of them.
Find out which countries' toll-free numbers you can dial using Skype To change your subscription to Unlimited Latin America, as you indicated, you'll need to cancel your current subscription and then subscribe to the Unlimited Latin America plan, which gives you unlimited calls to LANDLINES in:

  • IPCC calls went to voice mailbox while dialing the TOLL FREE NUMBER

    Hi All,
We have an Cisco Call Manager & an IPCC server through which the cisco agent desktop users login & receives calls from the client. As you know the calls will route based on the Agents Login Activity/Availability. The clients dials the Toll Free number 866-123-4567 & the calls in-turn will route to 410-123-4567 & lands to one of the Cisco IP Phone IPCC extension.  Unfortunately today between 0700 & 1030hrs EST, all the clients whomsoever dials the toll free number, the calls goes to the voice mailbox & not to any of the Cisco IP Phone extension. The mystery is, when the client dials 410-123-4567, the calls will land to Cisco IP Phone IPCC extension to one of the user which is normal.
Problem while dialing to the toll free number. Any ideas/clues? No changes made on the CCM/IPCC in the recent days.
The issue happened today between 0700 & 1030hrs EST as mentioned earlier.

    Hi Abu,
I use CCM-ver.4.1. I did not set any call forward option. Here is how the actual call takes place.
Client dials -> 866-123-4567 or 410-123-4567 & then dials the extension 3319 for the support team. 3319 will inturn route to 4319 & looks in for any agent logged in & then routes the calls to their cisco ip phone extension.
    Client -> 866-123-4567 -> 3319 -> 4319 -> 5101 or 5102 or 5103
    Client -> 410-123-4567 -> 3319 -> 4319 -> 5101 or 5102 or 5103
866-123-4567 is the toll free number which will be forwarded by the Telephone service provider to 410-123-4567 (866-123-4567 -> 410-123-4567)
From the PSTN, the calls land on to the cisco router codec used on the CCM is G.711

Is there a way to create a toll free number using an app?

I guess if you owned your own network you could. But, if you owned the network, you wouldn't need an app. Otherwise, how do you think you're gonna just create a "toll free number"?

  • Toll fraud traffic pumping on a Call manager express and unity express with an 800 toll free number.

I have a customer with a call manager express and a unity express. They have an 800 toll free number that rings in to an auto attendant on the CUE. The problem is something called toll fraud traffic pumping. The caller, always from a different number, reaches the auto attendant by dialing the 800 number. They then somehow manage to keep the line connected for up to 12 hours by somehow staying in the auto attendant. I opened a TAC case and was informed that it is not in Cisco's hands to create a way to disconnect a call that is connected to the CUE. I need a way to have a call that stays in the auto attendant or voicemail after 3 to 5 minutes. I can't see a way to do it in the auto attendant script. Can someone help with a method that will disconnect the caller if they stay in the CUE for a period of time?

Thank you for the response Jaime.
That is what TAC told me. I am not familiar with TCL scripting and I have been looking at some guides on it. Any advice on a source to go to for assistance with that, possibly someone to help?

  • Is 1-800-275-2273 a toll-free number?

Hey I don't know if this is the right place but is 1-800-275-2273 (apple technical support) a toll free number, i don't wanna have to pay or anything.

You want to get in contact with Apple?
What you can do is, go to the Apple support website and request a call back.
Apple will have an automated system call you and will connect you to someone who can help (you will be placed on hold until someone is available).
You don't pay for the call (whether the call is free or not) and you still get through to Apple Customer Care.

That is an advanced option but likely available with most business toll free plans.  Possibly you can configure through call screening.  somewhat of an unusual request but i can definitely see the value in offering a toll free numbers to a predefined group rather than everyone.  Would be interested to know the resolution you found.  KC, Great America Networks Conferencing  Free Conference Calls
