Prevention from kids moving apps

I like to keep my apps organised so I can find any app in a second, but when you have a kid who mess up your layout it not pleasant to find your screen different to what you want. Is it any possible to restrict any one from moving my apps all over places? Apple should have thought about it, thought about organised peoples who like their stuff where they like it to be and not all over places mixed with other apps!

You can poke around in 'settings, general, restrictions' and lock some things down. However the iPad was invented as a single adult user portable portal to iTunes, so it's not really meant to have multiple accounts with different access, or to be fully 'child safe' because it was never meant for kids.
You would probably stand better luck working with your child and teaching him/her how NOT to mess with things. For example, my brother in law and sister put my niece's games in a folder, and that's all she's allowed to play with. If it's not in that folder, she's been taught not to touch it.

The apps you are trying to update were purchased with (and therfore permanently linked to) someone elses Apple ID. If you do not know the password then you need to delete the app and redownload/purchase it with your Apple ID.

Our Goal is to moving Apps-Tier from Server A to Server B
Steps we followed as part of this :
1. Shutdown apps-Tier services on Server A
2. Ran adpreclone.pl on apps-Tier on Server A
3, Copy apps-Tier files from Server A to Server B
4. Ran adcfgclone.pl appsTier on Server B
5, perl adaddnode.pl on Server B
By Following above steps we are not able to bring up concurrent managers.
Please suggest us if we are doing anything wrong.

Please run cmclean.sql and ccm.sql as per these docs.

HDV capture has always split clips in FCE, it's normal behaviour.
During capture FCE is actually changing the native MPEG 2 compressed footage to AIC ( Apple Intermediate Codec) So it can handle each frame on an individual basis. Makes it edit friendly.
DV could capture complete tapes in one clip.

- Try moving the backup file to a safe location so iTunes has to create an entire new one.. It is locate here and you may have to have show hiddn files turned on.

I have a 2006 iMac that I've upgraded to each new os as they came out. I just wiped it (for the kids to use, I have a new iMac with Mavericks) and reintalled Tiger from the original discs. I want to get it back to Lion - which I purchased from the Mac App Store. But Tiger doesn't have the App Store and I don't have the discs anymore from the intermediate versions. I tried downloading Lion from the new iMac but it's not available...
Any ideas?

To get to the App Store, you need to upgrade the Tiger machine to Snow Leopard.

I am seeing my system log flooded (several per second) with event 28 warnings such as :
Port 'SWITCHPORT-SM-DB9DCFC7-E98D-438C-8998-CC0D9C14ED2B-1-1' was prevented from using MAC address '00-15-5D-00-B2-05' because it is pinned to port 'A0724966-695B-4552-B'.

The environment is 2 X hyper-v 2008 r2 hosts. both have 4 NICs, 3 nics are connected to virtual switches and management OS is not allowed to share the network adapter, and then 1 NIC is obviously used by the host/mgmt OS and no virtual switch connected to
it. I am seeing the warnings on both hosts.
No load balancing or NIC teaming.
All VM's have their MAC addresses assigned dynamically and I cannot see any conflicting MAC addresses.
The warnings are logged for all or most of the MAC addresses and alternate between different "SWITCHPORT-SM-etc,etc" names.
Performance doesn't seem to be degraded, I've run continuous pings for more than an hour with no packet loss, just a single packet spike every now and then. Network access seems fine, Backup Exec 2012 jobs are succeeding, albeit somewhat slower than what
it was.
I don't know when it started, since these warnings have flooded out all else.
At first I thought it had something to do with a VM that I moved from one host to the other, where I copied the VHD accross and then created a new VM and assigned the original IP address to the new virtual NIC in the new VM. I then uninstalled the old hidden
NIC and restarted the VM in question, but that didn't stop the warnings.
Any ideas what could be causing this, or any tips on where I should start looking to isolate the cause ?

Got it fixed by creating new virtual switches, moving all VMs over to them, and afterwards deleting all the old virtual switches.
Still no idea what the cause could have been. How bizarre...

It sounds like you may have multiple problems, but none of them are likely to be caused by malware.
First, the internet-related issues may be related to adware or a network compromise. I tend to lean more towards the latter, based on your description of the problem. See:

If investigation shows that this is not a network-specific issue, then it's probably adware. See my Adware Removal Guide for help finding and removing it. Note that you mention AdBlock as if it should have prevented this, but it's important to understand that ad blockers do not protect you against adware in any way. Neither would any kind of anti-virus software, which often doesn't detect adware.
As for the other issues, it sounds like you've got some serious corruption. I would be inclined to say it sounds like a failing drive, except it sounds like you just got it replaced. How did you get all your files back after the new drive was installed?

You can't prevent paying for an app if you buy one. You can, however, turn off the ability to install apps in the Restrictions settings (Settings/General) which blocks the App Store app on the iPhone. You can also block making purchases of extra features or capabilities from within an app, which is referred to as an "in-app purchase", in the same Restrictions.

Can I move images edited with the trial version to the version from the Mac App Store?

I have been using the trial version of Aperture to determine if I like it. I am now ready to buy Aperture from the Mac App Store. Will my edited images be moved over to the licensed version automatically or what do I need to do to not loose my edits?

You will be able to open the trial library in the purchased application even if it doesn't happen automatically.

All users prevented from logging in

After upgrade Server to Yosemite ALL users are prevented from logging in. In server app clicking on a user name shows this for each user:
And there doesn't seem to be any way to make "log in" active…
Ideas?

Never expect any server migration to succeed. Restore from a backup, then export the users. Copy the startup volume to an external drive and upgrade that. Test. If the same thing happens, destroy the OD master and import the users as a test.

Error 100 trying to download an App from the Mac App Store

Hi,
Every time I try to download an App from the Mac App Store I obtain a message that says that it has ocurred and error with the apple store (Error 100).
After that, i obtain a second message that says "Tour Apple ID has been deactivated".
I can not download any app to my new MacBook Air.

I found that this error occurred when trying to purchase Aperture via the new App Store. I had previously downloaded the trial version via the old Apple store and having it and its installed folders on my hard disk prevented the App store from letting me purchase.
So, if you have a trial version, trash it, and trash the related folders in your user Library and also the Aperture project folder (wherever you saved it), typically in the Pictures folder.
Then try to purchase. Voila!

IPad Disabled from Kids...Not showing amount of time remaining

So, I usually use a passcode to prevent my kids from having unauthorized access to my iPad.
In the past, if they entered the wrong code, it would say, "iPad disabled for 1 minute" or whatever...and
that time would go up each time they entered a wrong code up until I think 15 minutes.
Well, now it doesn't show a time... it just says "iPad is disabled" and it isn't giving me an opportunity
to enter my passcode (which I know).

‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just cancelling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.

How can I stop iTunes from transferring purchased apps from iPad to my computer? I don't want them taking up space on my computer. iPad backups and apps on the cloud are enough to ensure my apps are backed up, so I don't understand why they need to be on iTunes too. I'm running Mavericks, iTunes 11.1.5 and iOS 7.0.6.

There isn't an app for that!
As far as I can tell there is no option to give you that control. It is worth noting that apps can be withdrawn from the store at any time. Should your device need restoring you need all the apps in your library to transfer to it before the app data can be successfully restored. Pulling that all down from the cloud would be time consuming.
If space is becoming an issue you should consider moving the library to a bigger drive (which you should also backup to another).
As a temporary measure you could try deleting some larger apps using Finder from within iTunes/iTunes Media/Mobile Applications while keeping the entries in your library. iTunes may complain during syncs that it cannot copy apps to the device because they cannot be found, but it should not clear them from the device. Test first on a single app that doesn't have any data that you would mind losing in case the behavior has changed from the last time I tested it.
