Preview 4.2 scaling printed pages way down

Why would my standard pdf files suddenly be scaled down to approx., 60 percent when I select the print button? This has never occurred before. If I chose Command Print the scale is correct and prints full page.

I'm seeing the same problem. What version of HP drivers do you have? I have the latest drivers released for my HP printer which was released with the HP Printer Drivers Update 1.1.1 on September 11, 2008 (http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/apple/application_updates/hpprinterdriver1 11.html).
Even with this update, the same problem is occurring...

  • Print problem. trying to print a document in Preview, the start of the text prints half way down the page not at the top of the page?

Print problems.  Printing out an email the text starts half way down the page.  I tried taking a picture of the text I wanted to print, tried to print from Preview and have the same problem.  If anyone has any ideas I would really apreciate it. Thanks Penny

One more thing to check:  System Preferences/Print & Scan.  Make sure your printer is set as Default.
I'm using OS X 10.8 and I don't see Page Setup anymore. If you have access to Page Setup, check to see if there are any adjustments to make there.

  • When scaling in page setup, 1st page prints correctly, but subsequent pages do not scale correctly/too large for the paper, parts of the text missing

When trying to print in Firefox, and when scaling the page size in page setup, the first page prints correctly, but subsequent pages do not scale correctly and are too large for the paper, with parts of the text are being cut off at the top and right. This is not fixed by checking or un-checking the "ignore scaling/shrink to fit page width" in the print window, or by changing the scaling%.
I am running Firefox 15.0.1, on Mac OS 10.5.8.
The same problem happens in the print preview and if I save the print as a .pdf
I have tried all the fixes in the how to's and others in various forums with no improvement.
This happens every time I try to print a document scaled up or down only in Firefox.

The 2nd page print scaling error has been an issue with Firefox on the Mac since 2011. People at Mozilla have not considered this a major problem. Try printing anything at less than 100% and you'll quickly see how every page after the first page being scaled wrong gets old real fast. The lack of a solution to this issue forced me long ago into using Safari as my primary browser. Good luck waiting until version 21 for a solution. Current release is 18.0.2.

  • When I print a Word document to a shared printer, print preview looks fine but the printed page has too much blank space at the top and doesn't print the bottom few lines.

When I print a Word for Mac document to a shared printer (that is connected to my iMac) from my Macbook Pro, print preview looks fine but the printed page has too much blank space at the top and doesn't print the bottom few lines.  I have tried to adjust the margins and the page setup settings but to no avail.  It used to print fine until recently.  Is there a way to fix it so that the printer prints what print preview shows?

I should add that when I e-mail this document to myself and print it directky from the iMac, it prints fine.

  • DIV not displaying properly, half way down page?!

    Hey Guys
Really can't work this out. My code is below. I've also affixed a screenshot of what happens. The DIV no matter what you use, <p>, <h1> etc... It will display half way down the page! I've also affixed my CSS document for you to look at. I've tried deleting the slider JavaScript and CSS from the page with no results so I know it's not this. And yes, my code probably isn't the best way of doing things, tips appreciated as still learning!

MANY THANKS! I appreciate your time!

Height is not your friend.  The page/container height is always determined by the content inside it.  So adding explicit height values will often cause more pain than gain.   Suggest you start by removing all the height properties.
Also, I don't see where you have cleared any of your floats.   You need to learn to do that.  Several methods available.
Option #1 Use a CSS clearing class:
                   .clearing {clear:both; display:block; visibility:hidden}
Insert this HTML after your floated boxes:
                   <hr class="clearing" />

  • How do I correct odd page upside down while duplex printing?

My MX870 prints every other page upside down while printing a catalog in duplex mode.  How can I correct this? The catalog was written using MSWord 2007. Obviously, I can manually duplex the catalog. I am praying there is a solution to be able to automatically duplex.
    Thank you.

After 3 days of futile efforts to solve odd page upside printing in duplex print. The problem was solved as follows:
    Go to the print menu
    1. Go to quick setup
    select "Preview - Duplex - Paper size - Orientation [make sure document and printer orientation are the same}
    2. select "page setup "
on page layout select "normal size print" - "duplex automatic" - "stapling left side"
Print area setup  "select - used reduced printing"       Selection of " use reduced printing" is the key to solving the problem
    3.  Problem solved

I can't find a way as simple as IE has to "print preview" enabling me to just print what I highlight. Thanks

Sorry, you can't "preview" a highlighted selection. You either select choose '''''Selection''''' in the Print Range section of the "native print dialog" box ''(below Pages from:__ to:__ )'' and print it directly from that dialog box, or you do a Print Preview of the entire web page.

  • I am not able to print pdf file from coursesmart website. i disabled flash plugin and only images are on the pages. When i preview, i only see blank page...help

    i disabled flash plugin.
    now i open site - http://www.coursesmart.com/9780495797494/2
page contains images. When i click on print preview button, i cant see anything.... also i tried all pdf plugins and extensions, but none help to convert/print page in pdf. please help. how can i print whole page to pdf?

Doesn't work in Google Chrome either.
Looks that the page has a lot of protection measures (context menu is disabled) and DIVs that overlay each other, so it is possible that the print routine only sees an empty DIV and not the image or the real page.<br />
That big image consists of two parts as you can see via Tools > Page Info > Media and the inspector.

Is there a way to preview the dissing of the pages on OAF without deployment ??
    Hi to all,
I´m recently  working with OAF and the main server are in Argetina, so when I try to make a deploy  to check the development it takes a lot of time. Is there a way to make a preview of the pages (Something like the visual designer of netbeans )
    thanks to all

Run the page from your JDeveloper locally using the DBC file. I assume you are developing the pages using JDeveloper, so you should be able to run the page.
    Thanks

  • HP Officejet Pro 8000 WILL NOT PRINT PAGE TWO IN CORRECT ORIENTATION. SECOND PAGE UPSIDE DOWN.

Cannot booklet print in duplex mode. Prints second and third side of page upside down and
page 4 as original page.   Does't worlin any mode, even booklet mode.  Had a HP5400 previously,
which did booklet printing just fine.  Can the driver from the 5400 be adjusted work on the 8000?

If you have HP software in your Applications folder that was not specifically meant for 10.7 (Lion), uninstall the software using the 'scrubber' option:
Go to Applications/Hewlett Packard/ click on HP Uninstaller
    Click on Continue
Highlight your device on the left pane
Press and hold Control + Alt + Cmd keys on the keyboard simultaneously while you click on Uninstall <<<< This IS the Scrubber Option, there is no button labeled "Scrubber"
There will be a pop up that asks if you are sure you want to uninstall ALL hp software. (At this point, if you continue, any HP printers you have installed will need to be reinstalled)
Click Continue and let it finish
    Restart your Mac
    Download and install this: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL907
    Now reset the printing system:
    - Sys Prefs, Print & Fax
    - Right (control) click in the rectangle listing your printers and select Reset Printing System.
WARNING - this will delete ALL of your printers!
    - Select the plus sign to re-add it. Look for the printer, select it and wait until the "Add" button becomes available. Click it.
Say thanks by clicking "Kudos" "thumbs up" in the post that helped you.

When I try to print a photo from iphoto, I click print and the preview shows a lot of the photo cut off.  It also prints this way.  How can I print the whole photo?

After selecting File > Print, a pop-up window should appear. Select "Customize" and this should take you back into a panel within iPhoto. Towards the bottom, you should see an option for "Layout". Select this option and choose the correct photo orientation.
    Hope this helps!

Thanks for your reply....FYI...I was trying to download from www.adobe.com on
the specific page that has downloads of your products.    As far as the
alternate source is concerned I am not totally sure what the capabilities it has as
I am recovering from a hospital stay and had to send my wife to retailer to
pick this up because I am accessing email from home until I return to work and
need something to work now.  I don't yet have the SW.  (I would have had her
buy the actual Adobe Pro 9.0 -- but it is a wapping $499 and change).

  • Why won't my printer print page numbers? The page numbers show up when I preview the document by don't print on the page.

Why won't my printer print page numbers in a document? The page numbers show in print preview, but will not print on document.

Perhaps you have set the margins so tight to the edge of the paper that you have gotten into the non-printing area for your printer. Most printers have a dead zone.
    What are your margin settings?

  • Printing page as it previews with overprint off

When I preview my Document it shows none of the overprinting objects as overprinting. This is actually how I want to print it out on a color laser printer—all knocking out. I understand how to see the preview with the overprint on, but I don't want it to print this way. What do I need to do to get it to print out as I see it without the overprint preview turned on?

Looks like if I Print as Image in the Advanced print dialog I get the print I want—all knocking out. For some reason this works on every other work station in the building with the exception of my station. On my computer when printing out of Acrobat the Advanced Print as Image is greyed out. Anyone know why this would be or how th fix?

  • Duplex Printing - Page 2 upside down

I can duplex print, but the even number pages (second side printed) are upside down.  Also, my properties tab options do not match the manual's description, so I'm not sure if I'm setting it up properly
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

    Hi shell75,
I would like to help you with this issue of page 2 printing upside down. Make sure that your Firmware is up to date.
Then follow these steps in the User Guide on duplex printing.
    Print on both sides (duplexing)
You can print on both sides of a sheet of media automatically by using the HP
    Automatic Two-sided Printing Accessory (duplexer).
NOTE: Two-sided printing requires an HP Automatic Two-sided Printing
Accessory (duplexer) to be installed on the printer.
TIP: You can perform manual duplexing by first printing only the odd pages,
flipping the pages over, and then printing only the even pages.
    Perform two-sided printing (Windows)
    1. Load the appropriate media. For more information, see Guidelines for printing on
both sides of a page and Load media.
    2. Make sure the duplexer is installed correctly. For more information, see Install the
    duplexer.
    3. With a document open, click Print on the File menu, and then under the Print on
Both Sides options on the Layout tab, select either Flip on Long Edge or Flip on
    Short Edge.
    4. Change any other settings, and then click OK.
    5. Print your document.
Depending on which flip you choose will determine how it prints on page 2.
Let me know how it goes or if you need any further help.
    Thank you,
I worked on behalf of HP.
